I expect that it will not be a walk in the park for Zverev. But Zverevs experience should help him to walk off the court as a winner.

You were right there, that was a 3 set final with two tie breaks in the first two sets.
Zverev got the job done though.

62 - 77
77 - 65
6 - 3

Thats a second title this year for him, he is very slowly getting back to his former
performance levels. It has to be his mental state which has to be worked on, he
still has the skills though.

Safiullin played with a lot of pressure and Zverev could nott cope with it. But winning the tiebreak in the second set put the momentum at Zverevs side. Safiullin only had to win two more points in the teibreak and then he would have had his first ATP title.
Zverev still has a chance to reach the top 8 of the ATP list. Then he could start at the ATP Finals for the Top 8 in November.

My bet will be on Sascha as someone who reaches the final for the first time is very unlikely to win in. Stats say so. Even Alcaraz and other star prospects can rarely win their first final at such level.

Zverev had a strong performance against Dimitrov. It is important for him to reach a final again. That only happened once before: At the tournament in Hamburg this year.

But Safiullin showed a great performance in every match. He did not lose a single set in the entire tournament.

Earlier this year he won the German Open. The final match against Laslo Djere in the German Open isn't that competing. This time the match was a real fight as Safiullin won the first set through the tie breaker. Further the comeback in the second set winning the tie breaker isn't an easy thing and the third set looked like an easy winning one. The win against Dimitrov in the semi-final match and the experience had kept him on the higher side to progress well amidst the breath breaking performance from Safiullin who had played his first title match.

Semi finals today over at the Chengdu Open in China.

Safiullin ....
Zverev....

It's not the easiest player to bet on...It's a bit of a surprise this year.
despite him not having a very high ranking he was able to play at a high level with Sinner in Wimbledon or Paul in US Open.
Live right now, Zverev would be the opponent for Final at Chengdu Open!

Zverev have won against Dimitrov in the semi-final in the direct sets 6-3 77-62. Final match to be played between Zverev and Safiullin. For Roman Safiullin it is the first career final at the Chengdu Open. Playing against the top seed gonna be tough for Safiullin, and expect him to give the best to make it his first title win.

So the favourites won and in straight sets each. I wasnt expecting Safiullin to
beat Musetti.

Odds now on the final have Zverev as favourite and rightly so, I think this will be quite
a task for Safiullin he doesnt have any titles as far as I can determine. He has done quite
well to get to this final, could he be inspired to beat Zverev @ 3.20?

In every sporting event there are always surprises that are created and often the surprises are given to players who are not highly favored and this is a form of one of the big surprises.

In the first set Martina Trivesan played quite well and even made it difficult for Caroline Dolehide to catch up on points but when the second set started Caroline Dolehide actually looked more enthusiastic and showed the skills she had to be able to create point after point until the end she won the 2nd set and when the 3rd set started Martina Trivesan looked gloomy or lost her confidence in winning the match and Caroline Dolehide managed to come out on top.

Now Caroline Dolehide has made it to the final which will be held in one days against Maria Sakkari and let see who will win the final.

I think sometimes this can also happen because the underdog thinks that he has achieved a good enough result in that tournament already. So it is not going to matter too much if that certain player goes further into the tournament or not. It feels like they somehow lose the drive to actually achieve more. That's why I think a lot of underdogs who end up defeating an opponent which is much more better compared to them, end up losing the next match.

In the final, Caroline is going to face Sakkari. This match is definitely expected to be competitive. But I think Sakkari has a better chance of winning this match. But of course, when it comes to predicting women's tennis, it is definitely hard because women can be very unpredictable and inconsistent.
This could happen but when they see an incident like this in a tournament many people might not believe it and think that winning is just luck or an unexpected surprise.
Some players have experienced something like this so they may have to always do or give their game to the maximum so as not to be one of the players who are overthrown by lower players. Some players when they feel they have become the best they also forget that there are other players who maybe be luckier and be able to beat him.

In the first set both of them played quite competitively and quite fiercely but Sakkari was still able to beat Caroline Dolehide and in the second set Sakkari regained the advantage so that in this final match Sakkari emerged as the champion as you had predicted.

Quite an interesting match and congratulations to Sakkari for his victory in the Abierto De Guadalajara final.

Although the Laver Cup isn't getting much attention (and rightly so), the domination that Team World showed against Team Europe should be at least mentioned.
Shelton and Tiafoe were especially dominant, both of them winning 3 matches, whereas Rublev and Hurkacz end the tournament with all 3 losses.

The only win in a 13-2 loss for team Europe came from Casper Ruud, the only player from Team Europe that performed well. He played only once and won dominantly against Tommy Paul.

Semi finals today over at the Chengdu Open in China.

Safiullin v Musetti2
Zverev1 v Dimitrov3

Its interesting to see that Safiullin is marginal favourite against the top seed Musetti,
its 1.8 v 2.0

and in the second semi final Zverev is favourite, I would have expected that.

My favourites are Musetti and Zverev, 2 top seeds to reach the final.

I'm not going to bet on Dolehide, but I'd like to remind everyone that Maria Sakkari lost 7 out of 8 finals she played. She also lost 2 out of 2 Masters finals in her career. Sakkari is known to have some psychological issues which are intensifying during finals. Therefore I'm not going to bet on this match.  Cool
We can't be sure of the winner. Both have played well from the beginning of the tournament defeating popular players to reach the finals. Particularly Dolehide have won the Round of 64 match against Stearns playing three deciding sets. This means first set won by Stearns and the remaining two sets were won by Dolehide reaching the deciding set. So, it shows how she had turned to be a player who confidently gives the best for a comeback and have the never giveup mind. We can't be sure of the winner, but the match is going to be closer as Sakkari is well experienced.

Well Sakkari got the job done against Dolehide in two sets. The first set was close
5-7 and after winning that took the second set easily enough.

Sakkari might have lost many previous finals but Dolehide didnt have a lot of experience
in finals which could have been a factor against Sakkari.

Maria deserved the win really after all those finals appearances.

Even though Sakkari did actually lose a lot of finals, however in this final her opponent was not very strong. So it was expected that she is going to win the final. And this was relatively easy for her to win. Great performance from her. Even though I did say that her opponent was not very strong, and that is a reason why she was able to win, but I still have to give credit to her. It is not easy to even reach the finals sometimes, let alone win the final.
Congratulations Maria Sakkari for winning the WTA Guadalajara title. The first set went closer and Maria Sakkari won it 7-5. Second set was an easy win with the scores being 6-3. For Dolehide it is the best in her single tournaments. Everything is an experience and this could keep her motivated and make her give the best in her further matches. Further Sakkari gonna play Japan Open, and lets see whether the victory continues.

What's interesting about the WTA 1000 Guadalajara, Italian women's tennis player Martina Trivesan almost won against Caroline Dolehide but failed after her opponent managed to make a comeback in the second set when she was 4-2 behind. Trevisan was quite impressive when yesterday she beat Ons Jabeur but this time she made quite a lot of mistakes when she almost secured a place in the semifinals.
Yes, it happens very frequently when an underdog kicks out one of the top seeds, he/she runs out of steam and gets eliminated in the next round. Trevisan couldn't find motivation to win in a match against Dolehide after epic win versus Jabeur. Happens all the time.

With no offence to Dolehide after reaching the final I think Sakkari is deserved favourite,
4.47 v 1.19 with their odds. I have never heard of Dolehide before and she did really well
to beat Kenin in the semi final.

She is currently ranked no.111.

Anyone going to bet on Dolehide to win this one against the power of Sakkari?
