WTA Washington DC: Sakkari v Keys just finished. Maria won this one quite easily 6:3, 6:3 despite this match being the second match of the day for her. Keys was favoured by the bookies but yet she didn't manage to show any resistance against the Greek. Maria is going to meet Pegula in the semi.

Earlier today, last year's winner Samsonova defeated Kostyuk in straight sets 6:4, 6:2.

Sakkari playing solidly like always but today dominated Keys in every aspect of the game. Keys was much better before and to me dosent look good at all. Pegula for me is the favorite against Sakkari and i think she might win in straight sets against her

Interestingly Humbert has made it through to the quarter finals, he seems to be having
a very good run over the last few weeks and now plays Dimitrov - I would say both
players are of similar talent ATM but the odds are Dimitrov 1.53 - 2.50 Humbert, he
might be worth a chance at that high odds

Humbert's performance is truly commendable. In the last match, he performed really well and was able to win the match in a very convincing manner.  His opponent Watanuki did not have any chance, to be honest. But Dimitrov is going to be a hard opponent to beat. Certainly a lot harder compared to his last opponent.

Unfortunately Humbert fulled out before meeting Dimitrov,  Its reported Humbert picked
up a leg injury so Dimitrov is into the Semi Finals and faces Evans who is having a great
tournament following a very poor season so far. He beat Tiafoe in 2 sets today, he kind of
deserves a bet and is a good price at 3.0!

The other semi final is Fritz v Griekspoor, its hard to see the top seed Fritz loosing and
not winning the title!

Just over!
Baez has won (6-3/6-1) against Dominic Thiem in Kitzbuhel. Yesterday the Austria player was able to fight (and win) after three sets against Djere but today there was no match (even if the odds were definitely good related final win of Baez).

...
I think that this was related some health issue. Its the first time I have seen in a live match, interesting to place a bet Wink

If I have seen correctly, Jarry was literally vomiting on the pitch during a break in the match against Tsitsipas.
Now he looks more like a person who has been drinking a lot / or has severe indigestion, not the classic tennis player Roll Eyes

After the first 2 really interesting sets (both ended in tie break) now in the third set the Chilean seems to have lost hope (4-2)... Chilean winning odd actually on @14+
[edit1 5-2 for Tsitsipas....]
[edit2 6-2 for Tsitsipas Grin ]

I personally don’t know what it was. But I will certainly say that there is nothing without discipline for an athlete. A player will also have to take care of his body Very carefully.  Jarry was certainly not at his hundred percent in that match.

Anyway, it was a good match, but the end was a little too easy for Stefanos tsitsipas. Now he is going to face Ćorić in his next match. this semi-final is definitely going to be good.

The rain caused many of today's matches to be temporarily suspended and will resume matches tomorrow.
C. Eubanks vs J. Thompson was one of the matches that were suspended, Eubanks is currently lagging behind his opponent, since his impressive performance in the grass season, many predict he will be the one that will make the competition in the men's section even tougher, a rain delay could have reversed the match and Eubanks had a chance to improve to still win the game

Another match that will also be quite interesting to look forward to is Fritz vs Murray, Murray has a chance to beat the American player if he manages to return the serve from his opponent well because Fritz is not so agile during the rally game in contrast to Murray who is still quite good during the match takes place with rally balls.

Well with Felix AA its a mental issue, he has the talent and I think this is what a lot
of people were basing their future predictions on but its difficult to factor in to a
prediction a players mental outlook, choices or strength.

Whatever is causing his problems and making him unable to perform at a higher level, he needs to work on it. Maybe he needs to change something in his team.

---------

Tsitsipas and Jarry are playing in Mexico right now. Pretty close game. Jerry won the first set in a tiebreak and they are also in a tiebreak in the second. But I do not have a TV right now for a live bet.

Pretty disappointing what AAF is doing this year. In Washington he lost in 2 sets. This is already the 12th match he has lost. So far he has played 25 matches in 2023. He should urgently change some things.
It is also interesting that Bublik lost. His opponent is ranked 323 ATP. Otherwise, there were no big surprises in the tournament in Washington so far.

Felix AA - yes I watched some of that match, it was a hard fought one, losing in two tie breaks.

IDK he seems to be stuck at a certain level and is not really progressing, there was big
hopes for him to become more than he is ATM. My wife recons he is too nice and doesnt
have that "walk over everyone to get what you want" which sometimes top sports people
need to do in order to reach the very top.

Bublik - just when I thought his season was getting better he lost this match against
Monfils. Jury us still out on him for me.

About Felix AA, I definitely agree with what you’re saying. He definitely did not deliver as expected. I don’t think being “too nice“ is actually a problem for any player. But sometimes a player doesn’t need to have that certain attitude to actually show who’s boss. That would have certainly helped him a lot.

Bublik- he lost the last match and he lost both the set pretty convincingly. Of course, better performance was expected from him. I actually thought he was actually good enough to win.

Sad lost for Ofner. The Austrian player was leading the second set 5-0 ...but the adversay, Molcan, was able to win the second set at 7-5... even avoiding 2 match points!
In third set the Slovakian was able to win also tie break.
I don't know if you have seen this match in Austria but has been something "crazy and funny to see" with nice odds for the whole match Roll Eyes

I read about this comeback as this story is even popping up in Belgium newspapers. I don't know why but sometimes seems a bit fishy with this comeback as Ofner was not injured or anything and played a great third set. It has happened quite a lot that a player that is 0-40 behind can still win the game, but these kind of comebacks are unique. I just hope that we will not find out later that this was rigged.
Unexpected blow for Sebastian Ofner who is the no.1 player of Austria. Losing the match at the home ground is a big disappointment. On the other side the comeback of Alex Molcan is a big surprise for everyone. Very few gamblers would've got lucky to win good placing bets when the second set of the match is lead by Ofner 5-0. Craziest win from Alex Molcan and following the win he had fallen to Sebastian Baez in the quarter finals 6-4 6-3.

Ofner’s loss was quite unexpected. Before the start of the match I did not think he’s going to those. And even at halfway of the match I was thinking that he is certainly going to win. But it was a really good comeback from Molcan. He did really well to win the match. The most important thing is that he did not lose. Hope everything was going against him.

I did not see the whole match. I saw some clips here and there. Basically what you see while scrawling through YouTube short. But I can see that this was really unexpected.

Citi Open in Washington is currently in progress.

Just read that Yibing Wu is also at this tournament. Or rather, was. He was leading 4:1 in his first match and collapsed on the way to the bench. That was the second time. In Wimbledon he collapsed in the dressing room during his match against Tiafoe. It is quite frightening to see that on video. Hopefully it is not serious.

Today we have another round of 32 with some big seeded names playing, Fritz, Bublik, Felix AA, Evans, Eubanks, Mannarino and Tiafoe.

Tiafoe is already through and has won his match in two sets. His next match against Shang should be doable.

close with Brandon slight favourite, I think he is a good price at 1.86, maybe an over bet?

Bublik 1.62 - 2.30 Fils - thats a great price on Bublik provided he has good form.

In case you want to watch some quality WTA tennis Andreescu vs Kostyuk live atm from Washington DC. Andreescu won the opening set easily 6:2, then Kostyuk played flawlessly in the second taking it 6:3. Now in the deciding set, early break for the Ukrainian 2:1 very intense match, pleasure to watch!

Well you said it right. And it was quality match between Andreescu and Kostyuk. It was a good comeback from Kostyuk. Even though she lost the first set quite easily, she made a good comeback after that. SHe won the second set pretty convincingly. The third set was very competitive. It could have gone either way. But Kostyuk did well enough and held her composure under pressure.
