Congratulations to Zverev. A very important win for him. He did not lost a set in the whole tournament and winning in his hometown will give him a lot of confidence.
As has already been written here, he did not lay against the top players. But it does not matter in the end because Djere did not make it easy for him in the final. I am curious to see how Zverev will play in the next tournaments.

Fair play to Popyrin - he was a set down in the final again and managed to turn it around, even with a knee injury. He deserves the title, his first on clay and second overall.

It wasn't really a high-quality tournament in Umag this season - the tennis was much better last year. But seeing Wawrinka play live is something to cross off my bucket list.
One-handed backhands are slowly dying and seeing the best ones live is a rare treat - considering I play onehanded as well, it was really nice to do that.

Popyrin performed really well against Wawrinka. I genuinely had some doubts about him actually being able to win this match. But he did pull it off. The first set was won by Wawrinka. But even in that set Popyrin gave a great fight to Wawrinka. And after that, it was a great comeback by Popyrin. No idea he was able to win the next two sets.

Great performance from Popyrin to be able to win the Croatia open.
Even though I agree with you, that this tournament was not one of the top quality. But I think this was decent. better was expected obviously.

Is this Zverev's "comeback" when he wins a tournament that was almost only played by inferior players? Ruud and Rublev seem to not have taken it too seriously and now Zverev can win the 348k and 500 ATP points. I checked how many points this tournament is worth and honestly, comparing the line-up of this one to some of the other ATP 500 tournaments, these 500 points would probably be the some of the easiest he has ever earned if he wins it. But let's first see if he freaks out again before the game ends. Cheesy

I think every player should be given the credit today. And I also think that zverev is certainly someone who deserves the credit for even reaching the final.

By the way, the match between Djere and Zverev is finally over. Of course, the winner was Zverev as expected. He did not give much of a chance to his opponent. It was genuinely a great performance from him.

I don’t understand why people are saying that he had an easy match in the finals. Why people do not want to agree that almost every final match is going to be 50-50.

Anyway, I don’t think you should care too much about the haters. He got a great win in the final and he should celebrate it.

Zverev won the title but I can't say it was the best match of his career or something like that. Far from it actually. In the second set, Zverev broke Djere and was up 4:1 but then he lost his serve game and Djere made it 3:4. Then Djere lost another serve game and it allowed Zverev to serve for the championship, which he successfully did. And Djere is not even a top player. Still, I believe this win will add some confidence and let Zverev play better in the next tournaments.
You could've expected big performance from Zverev and that's the reason you weren't satisfied with the winning score of 7-5 6-3. Just because Djere isn't a top player, it doesn't mean he can't perform. Every player have got their skills. Based on the statement it looks like an underdog should never play or give competence against any of the top player. Zverev considers it a comeback though it isn't a big tournament.

Interesting discussion, there were 3 top players in Hamburg, Ruud, Rublev and Musetti
but Zverev didnt have to play them - anyway winning any tournament is massive so
congrats to him!

Wawrinka is currently 1 set up in the final at Umag, he has a fantastic price of 1.65 ATM
which is fantastic.

He'll be playing Sonego, so it should be a good match. Haven't seen the odds yet, but I'll place some bets on Stan Cool

other from him, my less experienced and younger picks, as Ruud, Eubanks, Musetti, are all out from competition this week, better than to have them losing day-by-day, all in a same day out is better

Sonego is definitely a tough opponent for Wawrinka. But it is a semifinal match. We are getting exactly what we expected.

we will probably be in it together, also having plans to put some money on Stan
not that I think it has value (he is actually favored by bookies), but he has more experience, and I would like to see him lifting a trophy

To lift the trophy, he will have to fix the Sonego problem, first. I don’t think it is going to be easy for him. I feel like I am repeating myself. But even though I believe the bookmakers are actually favouring Wawrinka in this match, he might lose very easily. And let’s be honest, any match in the semi-finals of the competition is going to be a 50-50. No matter who is playing against who.

I was surprised by the final result and the match in general. Sonego Is not a newcomer but wawrinka was seriously at a strong level.
I was tempted to Place a bet on Sonego (!) but the odd @2.0 wasn't enough at least to me

Delighted for Stan who faces Popyrin in the final at Croatia, If he wins this it will be a great
reward for battling to get back to fitness.

cheering for Stan in Umag, Popyrin is good, but Stan should win this one, especially after good match against Sonego

Zverev meets Djere in Hamburg, pretty much surprisable final, have to be on Djere side, but not sure if he can pull this one out

In Atlanta, Vukic is in final, seems that his win over Eubanks boosted his self-confidence, and at least set against Fritz is probably a good bet, since Fritz is a big favorite there

Alexander Zverev - Laslo Djere
in case of a victory he will reach an impressive mark of 20 relevant trophies during his entire career, with an impressive performance in this tournament, Alexander Zverev had no difficulty beating any opponent, so he comes as a favorite in this game. on the other side we have Laslo Djere who currently occupies the position number 57 of the ATP ranking, but a few years ago he was already in a better position having reached position number 27 reaches his fifth final of a relevant tournament, in case of a victory he would reach a milestone of 3 major tournament trophies, he also had no trouble beating his opponents. my guess is that Alexander Zverev will win, the bookmakers also place Alexander Zverev as a favorite, looking at the history of the two athletes and this odd value, I think that Alexander Zverev will win

Zverev should actually be able to win this match against Laslo Djere.
In this final match, it is widely acknowledged that the ranking assigned to each player holds little significance, a fact that we all comprehend. Because after all it is the final match of a competition. So the chance of each player winning the match is genuinely 50-50

I even laughed a little when I saw on a TV channel the way the news presenter was talking about this game, because the presenter said that this season Alexander Zverev reaches a final of a relevant tournament for the first time and that this would be an excellent chance for Alexander Zverev to get a trophy from a relevant competition this season. finally it will be a game in which the number 19 will be against the 57 that is being a big surprise in this tournament

I really don’t understand if the presenter was not manageable enough about this thing. I personally don’t know how this works. But I expect someone who actually has good knowledge about Dennis is going to do the presenting. But in this case it seems like he/she(I don’t want to misgender anyone and also do not want, butthurt people saying that to me) was given a piece of paper and was told what to say.

in case of a victory he will reach an impressive mark of 20 relevant trophies during his entire career, with an impressive performance in this tournament, Alexander Zverev had no difficulty beating any opponent, so he comes as a favorite in this game. on the other side we have Laslo Djere who currently occupies the position number 57 of the ATP ranking, but a few years ago he was already in a better position having reached position number 27 reaches his fifth final of a relevant tournament, in case of a victory he would reach a milestone of 3 major tournament trophies, he also had no trouble beating his opponents. my guess is that Alexander Zverev will win, the bookmakers also place Alexander Zverev as a favorite, looking at the history of the two athletes and this odd value, I think that Alexander Zverev will win

Over at Hamburg Dere is playing Musetti and it on serve i the first set, I expect Musetti to
win this. Zverev and Ruud are also to play their respective quarter finals. Zverev plays
Va Assche, he should win that.
Seeing how Casper Ruud couldn't even get 1 game in the first set was quite strange, yeah he had played badly in the previous round, it's just that at that time he was still able to get back up, with Ruud's defeat, relatively only Zverev was the top player who was still holding out, and the semifinals will face Zverev vs. Fils and L. Đere vs. Zhang.
The semifinal between L. Đere vs Zhang will be a fairly even match. L. Đere is more favored but the odds of the opponent are not much different, it is very possible that this will be a 3-set match, and in the semifinal between Zverev vs Fils, the German player is more favored and he will be very likely to get to the final even to be able to win this tournament especially if he continues to play well in the semi-finals and in the final later, and if he can lift the trophy it will be his first title after recovering from injury.

Yup both favourites move on to the final today, At this stage and at his home tournament
you just have to back Zverev. He played well today against Fils who was also quite good.

Over at the Atlanta tournament, its looking like Humbert could to be playing Fritz in the final
which is a bit perplexing, where has he come from? I know he has been around for a while but
has really only played well at home in France.

He is currently up 1 set over Vukic who beat my man Eubanks yesterday

Meanwhile over at Atlanta I'm keeping an eye and following on Eubanks, he is into the Round of 16 after beating Martin and faces Nakashima tomorrow.

Eubanks is doing great at Atlanta, Vukic is next, odds are looking good

Wawrinka is showing some tennis in Umag, reaching QF, Baena tonight, odds are not great on his win, but should be good to pass through, Sonego and Lehecka are both still in the tournament

Rublev is out from Hamburg, after last week win in Bastad, seems that two good tournaments in a row is not his thing, Ruud has a chance to win it, after last week lose in final
Mussetti starts against Djere, does look good on odds

Yes Eubanks is going well, he beat Nakashima who is a decent player himself, Chris now
moves into th quarter final againet Vukic who is unseeded so I am backing him again
to get to the semi final.

The other quarter finals see Fritz and deMinaur play not againt each other! and also
Humbert and Wolf who are seeded so a lot of seeded players still in it.

I would actualy like to see Eubanks win the title, I will be backing him all the way!
