Meanwhile, Carlitos Alcaraz had a tough fight against Aussie Max Purcell: 4:6, 6:3, 6:4. 20yr Spaniard managed to stop Purcell who was on the winning strike of his life defeating Ruud, Wawrinka and Harris on his way to the quarterfinal. Carlitos is going to meet Hubert Hurkacz who had already guaranteed himself a spot in the semis earlier.

Alcaraz is struggling a lot on hard court and is barely winning against guys that arent in top 50 even. This shouldnt happen to the no1 in the world. Look at Djokovic he destroyed Fritz in straight sets and first set 6-0. I think that if Djokovic goes up against Alcaraz he will beat him easily

Again, a good comeback from Alcaraz. He is definitely proving that he has great potential to come back from bad situations. I was a little surprised to see him training and losing the first set in the match, not gonna lie. But he did make it good comeback by winning the second and third sent back to back.

In the next match, which is the semi-final, he is going to face Harkacz. The match will actually start very soon. I think he is also going to win the match. This semi-final should not be a big problem for him in my opinion.
Alcaraz is really strong and he's making history. His comeback used to be the better thing with his performance similar to what Djokovic does. In the Cincinnati Masters Alcaraz hadn't won matches in an easy way. Every match he had good competence and won those matches reaching the deciding set.

Now in the semifinals he lost the second set and now leads the deciding set 4-1 which is going to be an easy win. Earlier he had lost the first set 2-6. Hurkacz is really good, as he had won against Tsitsipas and other leading players to reach the semifinals.

In the women's event, Muchova have reached the finals winning against Sabalenka 64-77 6-3 6-2. In the other semifinal Gauff defeated Swiatek 62-77 6-3 4-6.

Yeah, Muchova v Gauff is not the final many were expecting. But yeah, that's tennis if they are in the final they deserve it. My bet in this one will be on Coco as she has been showing top-notch performance in Cincinnati so far. Home soil and surface give here advantage against the Czech who has also played exceptionally well until today. Gauff is a universal player with great defensive and attacking skills, good serve, exceptional fitness and athleticism, mental toughness - she's almost perfect.

Will this be a rivalry match as Djokovic have lost to Alcaraz in the Wimbledon match after hard fight. This is the next encounter between the two. Djokovic have won the semifinal match against Zverev in direct sets, but those were really tough as the sets were close 77-65 7-5. Once again waiting for a match between the top two seeds. This is the maiden Cincinnati Masters final for Alcaraz and he had been among the four players to reach 45 or more Masters win before turning 21. Earlier in the list were Nadal, Djokovic and Roddick.

This is a perfect match up for the final, I'm sure the organisers are ecstatic to
have their two top seeded mens players 1 and 2 play each other in the final! I'm feeling
that this is going to be a regular finals match up for the next year or so.

Alcaraz yesterday had a tough match against Hurkacz, particularly the second set.

Djokovic got past Zverev in 2 sets, he is looking in great form.

What about todays final? I'm going with Alcaraz the underdog @ 2.40

Coco Gauf just beat Swiatek in 3 sets to win a spot in the Cincinnati final, I was watching
on and off and it was a great match! This is Coco's biggest win and to beat the #1 is
massive, she is definitely progressing which is great!

Up next in the second semi final is Sabalenka v Muchova - the odds suggest Sabalenka is
favourite @ 1.48 to 2.65 for Muchova, H2H has 1 : 1 and the sites I have visited all have
Sabaleka to win possibly in 3 sets. I might go with Muchova to win a set @ 1.76, seems like
a real possibility

Jabeur v Sabalenka

This match will be a rematch of the Wimbledon semi-final, which Jabeur won in three sets. But on hard court, Sabalenka will have a slight advantage in this battle of two top five players. Jabeur is playing her first tournament after a disappointing loss in the Wimbledon final and so far she seems to have shaken off the effects of that defeat. My favorite is Sabalenka, but we could see a match that goes to three sets.
Only in the first set did Sabalenka get quite tight resistance because Sabalenka's second set was relatively easier and ended the match well to advance to the semifinals against Muchova and another semifinal against Swiatek vs C. Gauff.

Men's semi-finals Alcaraz vs Hurkacz and Zverev vs Djokovic. Djokovic hasn't lost a single set in this tournament since beating Taylor Fritz in a fairly quick time of 1 hour, the first set didn't even give his opponent a chance to take a single game and this match was quite easy for Djokovic just like when he beat Monfils.

The presence of "jammers" on tennis courts is actually a fairly common practice, and every year I find several articles on the subject at least a dozen times....and probably there are even more just that doesnt reach public audience.

Very often these people are categorised like simple speculators who do everything to distract opponents and influence the game. (It works? Probably yes).

It seems that this trend has also moved outside the fields, with insults and (serious) threats launched via social networks!

There should certainly be a punishment for people who try to distract the players while performing. These dummies should understand that there are a lot of money on the line while the players are playing. And so much money that she could not even fathom. And for some reason these people decide to troll the players. And let’s not forget about the "just stop oil" protesters.

Cincinnati WTA quarterfinals:

Jabeur v Sabalenka

Paolini v Gauff

Muchova v Bouzkova 3:0 Bouzkova retired

Swiatek v Vondrousova 7:6, 6:1

In two remaining quarterfinals, I will bet on Sabalenka and Gauff.

In ATP draw, one quarterfinal had been played already. Hurkacz defeated Popyrin in straight sets 6:1, 7:6.

Yea that was the funny part, Tsitsipas waving at the fake bee. I think the whole thing was
very bizzare and I think that lady should have been removed, its just not on, cant believe
sho owned up to it and apologised and that was the end of it.

Anyway play has been suspended between Alcaraz and Paul, Its 1 set each and its been
a really entertaining high quality match so far, I wouldnt be able to pick a winner, Alcaraz is
big favourite @ 1.1 and Pail is 8.0.

I dont know how the refs or securty dont remove people that do that. Also i dont understand why people mock the players you paid to watch and sit still, really shocked and what people are willing to do to distract other players. Alcaraz and paul started preparing to start but the rain again stopped the play.

Alcaraz v Paul has finished already if I am not wrong.. Alcaraz was able to win the match, but certainly not without a very intense fight. Alcaraz fought Really hard to get the first set. The second set was also really close, but Paul took the win in the second one. The 3rd one was a little easier for Alcatraz.

Second Chance? I think they would remove her if this would happen again.

Such people are crazy and live in a delusional world. When I think about how many parents "support" their children by influencing other children. That is crazy. And if you ask them about their behaviour, they either say sorry (but does not mean it) or they pretend they do not know anything. Even if you show them that on video, they say it is not true. Such crazy liars.

But still, did he try to scare away "the bee" waiving his racket?

Yes, according to media he was thinking it was a bee first.

Short match between Davidovich Fokina and Djokovic. Davidovich Fokina had to retire at the beginning of the second set because of back pain. Rune also had to retire from his match against McDonald because of an injury.
I am surprised about Tiafoe. His first match and lost right away. Just like in Toronto.

Did anyone see the match from match Tsitsipas and Shelton? A spectator actually tried to irritate Tsitsipas by imitating a bee.  Roll Eyes
https://twitter.com/TennisTV/status/1691922577416176003

It's hilarious! I've never seen anything like that during any tennis match at ANY LEVEL!  Shocked

Why would one want to imitate a bee anyway? I guess she just said sorry and the match went on? And Tsitsipas wanted her to leave?  Grin

Oh man thank you for sharing this. But there is one thing I don't understand: when Tsitsipas is waving his racket as if there was a bee in the beginning of the sequence, did he still think that there is a bee?  Grin Grin

But I would embarrassed as hell if I was the woman. There really isn't much that could be any more ridiculous than that. What the hell did she think to achieve with that? She imitates a bee and the he fails with his serve and she enjoys the failed serve? Oh god I thought they are going to identify a young boy around 15-20 who is still in puberty. But it was the old lady!  Cool Tsitsipas: "This has never happened to me in my career"

But still, did he try to scare away "the bee" waiving his racket?

Today Sinner is in action also against Lajovic, that shouldnt be an upset, I think
Sinner is too cool and would gave put his win at Canada behind him and will be focussing
on the present.
...

Sinner yesterday was clearly tired on second set with some physical problems.
He was walking with difficult and has spent 20 minutes to win 1 point!
Not bad at all. I like his tennis, that's why I have placed a bet against him with a decent odd @3.5 (Lajovic to win second set)... Grin a bit risky but rewarding.

A lot of players are retiring due to some injuries. Expected Djokovic to struggle with Fokina but the injury made it easier for Djokovic and he now has a lot of time to rest up for his next match. McDonald had a big lead so i doubt that Rune would have been able to turn it around. But still after the last masters in Toronto and everyone came here too many players are either tired or injured.
