@bryant.coleman you spoke too soon as England are now struggling at 205 for 7, for some weird reason they have been unable to tackle Australian bowlers during this series. I don’t think England will be able to score more than 300+ runs now, and that’ll further put pressure on their bowlers. Smith has been in phenomenal form in the entire series, and it’ll take something special from England bowlers to dismiss him cheaply.

Now they're at 271/8, with the 9th wicket partnership still there after adding crucial 45 runs (Buttler / Leach). This is where they needed Mitchell Starc. He was dropped after just one opportunity, while Nathan Lyon with consecutive failures was still included in the team. I don't understand the point in picking Nathan Lyon, as he bowled just 4 overs yesterday. Perhaps they picked him as a batsman?

Anyway, it was a fabulous comeback by Mitchell Marsh. He was out of the team for so long and in his return he picked up four crucial wickets. Cummins was also looking quite threatening but I don't understand why he is facing so much issues in cleaning up the tail. The selection of Siddle was perplexing. I don't think that picking Siddle over Starc was a good choice.

300+ runs on this pitch could be a good total for England but then again it all depends on how well Smith bats for Australia. If he continues on with his top form then 300 runs might not be enough for a first innings lead. Marsh was a good selection by the selectors taking 4 wickets already and will also help Australia's middle order.

Aus will be able to chase this down easily tomorrow by the end of the day and then put more runs on board. The first innings of England will get over before 1.5 days.
The Aussie openers are not giving them a good start and only Smith is in prime form in the team, if he fails one time then who will be backing them up to score those runs. Tomorrow is an interesting day and lets see how England is going to finish the innings and bowl, plenty of time for the match, until we see some big innings from someone we might see the match finish before the fifth day.

Now 300 is the target of England with only 2 wickets in hand that too if Butler lasts till the 10th wicket else that also looks tough. Sad outcome as Stokes also failed miserably again. Marsh bowled extremely well especially when he took Stokes wicket. Aus will be able to chase this down easily tomorrow by the end of the day and then put more runs on board. The first innings of England will get over before 1.5 days.

Hello everyone,
How's everything going on? Was very much busy with settlement of some personal issue. Had worst time. Hope you guys are okay.

Missed the Ashes for some personal reason. I barely could have checked the score. Looks like Smith is in his golden age. Did England win the world cup? Once again it proved that "No"  Grin

England is in better position now than earlier, great innings by Butler, great support from Jack. I think 300+ is possible and that would be a good 1st innings start although avearge in oval is high probably.
To know whether 300 is a better position you need to see how Australia is going to perform in the first innings and with the form Smith is right now, i expect Australia to pile huge runs and put pressure on England in the second innings and win easily, easier said and done, if Smith falls earlier i do not trust any other batsman scoring runs for Australia but Mitchell Marsh is a good addition but he is coming into the team after a gap and i am not sure about his batting form either.

8th gone as well. It's 20 more overs to go. Will Butler and Jack Leach end the day with no more wickets for Ausi? Jack Leach had a century 92 earlier. We need the centurian Jack, come on. I don't want to watch such poor match in Ashes.
Nothing can help England in this situation, the real comedy lies in the fact that only Smith is performing consistent in this series from both sides and England managed to win one Test match in the absence of Smith and that too from a brilliant innings  from Stokes and even in this match England is facing another defeat as they have already lost 8 wickets scoring just 244 runs.

Already one wicket down for England. Denley out. If they lose 2 more wickets, they'll be under pressure and they by all means need to make 350-400+ runs to have a chance in the first innings. There are barely any chances of rain so it will be a complete 5 day match without any interruption.

England is off to a good start, and they are currently 107/2. This is perhaps the best start they have got so far in the current Ashes series. Joe Root is still there and Ben Stokes is yet to bat. So if everything goes well, then they may be able to score in excess of 300 (most probably in excess of 400). And that would give a lot of confidence to their deflated bowlers, especially Jofra Archer and Stuart Broad. The English bowlers just need to pick one wicket (that of Steve Smith). And IMO, it is possible as I am still of the opinion that Smith is a human rather than an alien. Just pick that one wicket cheaply and the Brits will be able to get Australia out for less than 200.

Nah man, England isn't fit for test vs Australia  Cheesy They should play against other team. Kiddin. Root has gone. Still 30 overs to go for day 1, Aus can got all of them today if one more early wicket.

Edit- 5 now.
That's a only reason i hate Joe Root. talented batsman but always fails the team and gets out after scoring 50-70 runs.

Asia XI = India. Hope you realize what I referred.

Yeah i know  Grin i was watching selection closely. Glad management dropped KL Rahul, he was playing bad cricket. Golden chance for Rohit let's see if he can fix his place in Test Cricket as a opener and happy for Shubman Gill.

This is my Asia XI Test Squad
1. Karunaratne
2. Mayank/Azhar Ali (Azhar Ali is no 3 batsman but Pujara is solid at no 3 and Azhar already got 4-5 tons as a opener)
3. Pujara
4. Virat Kohli (C)
5. Ajinkya/Angelo Mathews
6. Rishab Pant (WK)
7. Shakib/Hardik ( depends on the combination)
8. Yasir Shah/Ashwin ( Yasir Shah if games are schedule in England but if games are schedule in S-continent then no one comes close to Ashwin)
9. Bumrah
10. Ishant
11. Shami
12. Jadeja ( Big reason to include him as a 12th man)
Bring Rohit at number 1, remove Azhar from no 2, Mathews from no 5, Shakib from no 7, Yasir from no 8. That will be okay. Asia XI = India. Hope you realize what I referred.

Edit- 5 now.

Smith is not an unbeatable batsmen but England bowlers are incapable of taking his wicket early and he's no Gayle or Sehwag or even Stokes who get out for 0 or 10. He knows how to play against Eng's bowlers. That's why he's dangerous while Eng only manages if they have wickets in hand while many of their batsmen fail to perform.

Current partnership is 39 so they again need a 150+ partnership to even reach 350.

~snip~

I do okayish if I limit myself to analysis the game, players, strategy, etc other than that I am going to mess things up for everyone  Grin
When I gamble for myself I mess up big time but when I pick a team for someone else my percentage is larger (although I need to test it with more matches before drawing a conclusion but I am pretty sure about my gambling outcome LOL).

I noticed you have the ability to process information, may be you can give it a try since you watch a lot matches than following the scores.

Haha i guess it happens with everyone. Thanks, Will try sometimes for fun.

Talking about Asia XI vs World XI,  if we minus Indian team then Asian block is in a big mess. Out of 4 teams 3 teams are not doing well in the Test cricket and ranks very low (not counting Afghanistan because they are new). There are hardly any match-winners if they are up against any high ranking team. I see only  2-3 good cricketers who are eligible to make into Asian XI  with condition apply.
You make a really good point though I would still love to see players like Dhoni,Kohli, Rohit, Shakib, Azam, Amir, Bumrah, Malinga etc playing in the same team against the rest of the world. That would be a spectacle worth watching.

True all of them fit perfectly in ODI and T-20

Azam is good batsman but in Red ball cricket he needs to prove himself, he's is my one of the fav batsman in the world cricket but in Test cricket he disappoints me similar to Joe Root and Amir is a big embarrassment to Red Ball Cricket TBH, taking retirement at the age 27.

This is my Asia XI Test Squad
1. Karunaratne
2. Mayank/Azhar Ali (Azhar Ali is no 3 batsman but Pujara is solid at no 3 and Azhar already got 4-5 tons as a opener)

* Top order is in bad form for All Cricket Teams
* Prithvi is my first Choice for Opening slot but he's banned for some time.

So we have 3 Test match series. Australia already won 2 and this last one? If rain does not play a vital role then Australia is going to win this one too.
Result 3 - 0 whitewash LOL
Seems like you forgot about the recent English win thanks to Stokes primarily. Series is 2-1 currently and England are trying to draw the series while the Ozzies are aiming for the win.
You missed his post. He didn't forget. The match was not Australia vs England, it was Australia vs Stokes and that's why he didn't count it, lol.
Even other than Smith, Australia isn't a much better team, is they? See the total run vs Smith.

5th Test- The Ashes 2019
One draw Test because of the mighty rain.
England own the next one however it was not meant for them by any definition. Let's say Stokes won that Test.

England really needs to do something to have this respect that they are world cup champion.

I guess no one other than JSRAW watches a test match, everyone else gets up to date with the score. Watching test cricket is only enjoyable if it's the 4th innings and it has some sauce. Other than this, I never watch, check espncricinfo all the times.
I do watch but not as luxury as JSRAW has :-P

5th Test- The Ashes 2019
It's Oval. The first international test in England, the first International football match of England and a lot more. The honorarium for the ground is to play the final match here.

Total Match- 101
Batting first won- 36
Bowling first won- 28
Highest score in Oval- 903/7 by Eng vs Aus
Lowest score in Oval- 44/10 by Aus vs Eng

I didn't know that Australia has been missing a 5 matches series win in England against England since 2001, So, they finally going to overcome this, I guess.
Woakes is replaced for Overton, Stokes is playing as a batsman only because of his shoulder injury. More trouble for England.

Sorry, don't get me wrong. I did not mean that I watch every ball of the Test matches. I miss sessions, even days of the test matches. But yes, I keep myself content updated with the scores and actually depending on the score I turn on the tv.
