Manjrekar and Harsha is well experienced with their commentary and its expected to have different opinions from them. I think the visibility issues will decrease day by day when cricketers will play with pink ball from their academy cricket to local leagues.
The visibility issue or the issue in seeing a pink ball coming at your rather than the white and red balls. If it is simply a color issue it will be sorted out as every player will be facing them for the first time.

There is no doubt that Manju was always an over-rated individual. He was a below average player, who somehow found a slot in the playing XI, thanks to his connections. And surprisingly he has now become a regular in the commentary panel, despite his poor language skills and lack of enthusiasm. There is no doubt that Harsha is much better than Manju.
There are some below average players that are sitting in the commentary booth and give out opinions and while they were playing they were not even that good and they like to critic, i have heard Gavaskar giving his opinion when some players show some aggressiveness in the playing field and during his playing days Gavaskar got involved in many fights with players and umpires and even stopped matches and those people come out and criticize, Manjrekar is not even an entertaining commentator and yet he is making a ton of money doing this gig.

Did anybody watched this news? Seems spicy. Two top commentators- Sanjay Manjrekar and Harsha Bhogle disagreeing with each other over pink ball visibility
~snip~

Bottom line is Sanju Manju aka Sanjay Manjrekar is big time jerk and shitty commentator, always talks shit about everyone and makes cringe worthy comments here and there. first with jadeja now making shitty argument with Harsha Bhogle who happens to be one of the sanest voice in the commentators fraternity.

Right or wrong doesn't matter in this case but only attitude.

Kinda agree with that. I also recall that spat with Jadeja but Jadeja is a kind of guy who reacts to such and it was a good one to shut Sanju right away. But Harsha Bhogle is different. He is a calm guy so lucky for Sanjay that he didn't faced another comment making him look like a clown.

It should have been avoided and there is no point in arguing on air.

Well everyone has difference in opinion but really there was no reason to drag that topic long. Harsha Bhogle just suggested to ask players what they feel about pink ball visibility but Sanjay still kept up with his side of opinion. That shows how he think of himself (way above others, no respect to others). Really sad to see that actual side of character.

There is no doubt that playing test matches with pink ball is relatively difficult than previous red ball. Last test match series between India VS Bangladesh can be a good example for that. Bowlers were getting extra benefit by using pink ball where every batsman were struggling.
If there is any advantage to the bowlers then i am glad about it and they should continue with that even if it is the visual issue or getting more swing to the bowlers they need some benefits too as the game has revolved around batsman for a very long time and things have to be changed to have some interest, i am tired of seeing batsman scoring century after century in dead pitches, as a fan i like to see the battle and i think this is a new beginning to see some great battles in Test matches.

Here Sanjay Manjrekar is trying to establish that he was an international cricket player and he knows better than Harsha Cheesy It was a jerk move and what was his issue with Jadeja. There is no doubt that Harsha Bhogle is the better commentator and anyone can voice their opinion and you do not counter that with a dick move  Roll Eyes

It's getting quite spicy amongst Indian cricket fans and I think disagreeing at that point even without agreeing to Bhogle's suggestion to ask players was bad part from Manjrekar. What do you guys think?

Bowlers were getting extra benefit by using pink ball where every batsman were struggling. Specially in the last match both team faced difficulties for pink ball. Basically players are habitually connected with red ball and its from the beginning of academy cricket or under 19 matches. Thats the reason why they struggle to play with pink ball. I have my own experience with pink ball and what i found is that red ball is much visible than pink ball. Specially during spin deliveries its quite difficult to play with front foot shots.

England played really bad cricket in last day, they throw their wickets on bad balls and lose the match because of that otherwise pitch was not that bad even on 5th day of match.
The ball was spinning a lot in the last day and the England batsman were trying their best to defend those deliveries from Santner and Wagner bowled a wonder spell as he was mixing the balls with bouncers and slower balls and his specialty knuckle ball and since England were on a defense they started loosing their wickets as it is not that easy for players with over 100 strike rate in ODI to defend for a long time.

It’s going to beat bouncy pitch and it would be real test of the team as well if they could adjust to that situation and also results in a draw would be a big thing as per England would be considered . But it should be a good contest overall .

The second test is going to be played at Hamilton, and the track there has historically favored the pace bowlers. But this can be actually good news for England, in case their bowlers such as Jofra Archer and Stuart Broad rise to the occasion. On the other hand, New Zealand will be crippled by the absence of Trent Boult (will be replaced by either Lockie Ferguson or Matt Henry).

I don't think they are capable of winning match in New Zealand seaming and bouncy conditions, they really don't have test level batting capacities. Their batsmen habitual of play so many shots and in test cricket is not about playing so many shots but playing safe shots.
May be but I am still triggered to go with England again in the 2nd Test too. Let's see how they perform. 2019 is a lucky year for England and I am sure before the Christmas they wil have another lucky winning and this could be the next Test.

It will be very risky to bet for England, given the thrashing they received during the first test match. New Zealand has traditionally performed better than expected at home, even against top teams such as India and Australia. One thing that could go against them is the injury to Trent Boult. But in case Lockie Ferguson comes in for Boult, then it is going to be really tough for England.

I just check its very interesting Mount Maunganui, is new Test cricket home as its first test is going to play here between these two teams and after checking players look like New Zealand is going with advantage as they have three good bowlers these all can do any damage to any batting side batting is also going with good advantage as they have good unit and England is going with few new names so New Zealand can win this match.
You are saying this after I put more money for England ! :-P
Anyway, it does not matter. As long as we enjoy the Test match and it does not go one sided then I think we are fine. I am expecting a good Test match and I will feel great if England wins :-)

Very odd time for Indian, because it's start 3:30 AM, so not going to play on this, but in NZ, winning from NZ is very hard because of so much swinging condition. According to me, you will never see more swing bowling than NZ anywhere. NZ bowlers are far better swing bowlers than ENG.

Well if we look back then:
In WC final they were lucky to win it.
In the 2nd ashes Test they were lucky that Stokesi was the man
And in several other occasions as well.
But this time the luck did not work I guess.

I was not able to see any ball of this Test so really have not much idea about how the match was processed in the firld. I hope they comeback in the 2nd Test and win it. I guess no one wants to see a boring series.

Damn. Those are some comprehensive wins right there. Looks like both of us and Sash won the pool though Sash seems to have bagged a bigger amount. I expected NZ to perform well, but did not expect them to destroy England.

Watling and Santner along with Wagner provided NZ a win that they truly deserved after a series of losses this year against a lucky England. Feels great.

In recent time kiwis are very unlucky and their opponent English team is very lucky Grin
Only 22 overs left, we might witness some panic in kiwis's camp, if they didn't get any break through in next 5-6 overs.
The lucky days are back for New Zealand as they were able to pick the last two wickets and win the first test match, if the main batsman were able to hold the wicket then there was a chance for them to draw the match but some of the shot selection for England were disastrous and it was like gifting wickets to New Zealand and finally New Zealand won a match convincingly against England without any controversy Grin.

England is batting at 3rd session now and they have a long way to go with 2 wickets in hand although Sam Curran & Jofra Archer seems to be very confident. Anyway, I think New Zealand will get them soon. I can't believe now that akhjob is going to miss the pool  Shocked
