Looks like SL is going to gain another 60 points easily. Pakistan bowled out for 191 and SL are currently trailing by 172 runs. Pakistan bowlers will have to come up with some magic to restrict the SL batsmen. And then the Pak batsmen have to do their job, which I don't expect to happen  Undecided

Australi India fight for spot one is very interesting as India is going New Zealand and Australia going South Africa both tours are very interesting and good so we have to wait for this and No 1 team in Test Championship.
We have plenty of time for the finals that is happening in June 2021 where the top two teams will be fighting for the title, we might even see other teams taking the lead in the mean time and you cannot predict that right now, the next Test series for India is against New Zealand and it is not going to be an easy series for India but India won a series in New Zealand back in 2009 and they dominated the ODI when they toured last time and hence it is an interesting series and hopefully India will be sending a full strength team for that series.

I am afraid that the test championship don't have the same level of glamour as the ODI or T20 world cups. It is not a continuous tournaments and the fans are not much aware of the points table and other details. On top of that, the test format is attracting ever decreasing crowds now, especially with all these one sided matches that have happened recently.

Points table of Test championship so far... Make your own calculation.. Few games are coming so we can expect some changes in Points and Ranking, Australia should cross India easily and we can expect minimum 1 win for SA against the England (4 match series)

1. Aus vs NZ
2. SA vs Eng
3. Pak vs SL

Please avoid the points table which i posted earlier, its not complete and i messed up big time when croping screen shot. My apologies...

And my statement of "Australia going to overtake India soon" is also wrong, it's not going to happen anytime soon.

This one is complete and accurate.

India is too far ahead and Australia needs a miracle to overtake them. As of now, India is on top with 360 points from 3 matches, while the Australians have only 216 points from the same number of matches (I am talking about the 2019–21 ICC World Test Championship). Things may change if New Zealand is able to inflict a few defeats on India next February.

Starc is unarguably one of the best pace bowlers in the world right now and these guys were thick enough to drop him. He was overlooked for most of the series and played only one test out of the total of five.
I thought Starc was injured when he was not in the Ashes team and then at a later time i found that was not the case when there was discussion about his omission here in this forum, sometimes the Australian selectors are unpredictable and the way in which Peter Siddle was bowling this season he should be selected as he was in great shape and form.

Australia will overtake India in the short term as they are in good form and they have more matches while India is not having a Test match scheduled in the next two months.

Peter Siddle was the leading wicket taker for Victoria this season and he has the experience playing in this pitch and may be that is the reason he is recalled in this test and he might play in the team considering his form and the way in which he was terrifying and troubling the batsman but there are other bowlers in the team including James Pattinson and Michael Neser who is yet to make his Test debut in the selected team and who will get the opportunity remains to be seen.

James Pattinson is the guy who got selected ahead of Mitchell Starc during the Ashes, right? You never know who will get selected for the Australian playing XI, because the selectors are a bit crazy. Yes it will be difficult for NZ to beat OZ in their country and also batsman and bowlers are in form so this would not be an easy ride for NZ to content OZ in modest score . Unless some player stands out it would be OZ for me in next match too .

Advantage is with Australia, but I have reasons to believe that New Zealand would give them a good fight. The New Zealand bowlers seems to be in good form. Even with one of the bowlers (Lockie Ferguson) injured, they managed to restrict Australia to around 400 in a batting-friendly track. Neil Wagner has been in terrific form so far this year. If the spinners can also chip in, then NZ will be having a realistic chance of upsetting Australia at Melbourne.
Right now Bowling is good but biggest problem is batting line up as they are not giving partnerships which need on cruical time this is hurting New Zealand Tayler and Williamson doing some resistance but fail to give good partnership Latham and Rawal is also currently in not good form so they have to improve some batting if they want to stand against Australia.
Exactly this is the point New Zealand batting is what is causing them big troubles we saw in the previous match that no player was able to make a real impression in the last match. New Zealand didn't even manage to reach the 200 mark and it's a pretty big shame for any international team. I think bowlers bowled fairly well especially in the second innings. But still I am with Australia in this and I actually expect 3-0 after watching the first test.

LOL... I watched Peter Siddle sending down missiles during the abandoned match between Victoria and Western Australia at Melbourne. He was constantly targeting Shaun Marsh and Marcus Stoinis with short pitched deliveries and a couple of times Stoinis got hurt when the ball hit his rib cage. I am wondering whether this is the reason why he got recalled all of a sudden?

So the test match between NZ and AUS is going to be after Christmas on 26 Dec and the first test between ENG and SA is also starting on that day. I really am not happy with how the first test match ended but I hope NZ comeback hard and avoid further defeats.
I am not sure about the state of the South African team whether they can challenge the English side, i am yet to look at the selected team to make a decision on which team to wage a bet but when it comes to the Australia New Zealand match i am going with Australia to win the match as they are in good form and unless the New Zealand bowlers dominate the Australian batsman i am not expecting any other result.

OZ 296 runs win over NZ is really a big win and considering the way they have beaten them is really an achievement as they have shown all round performances in all department and definitely the favourite for 2nd test match too .

They should have enforced the follow on, as it was possible for them to win by one innings. The Australian captain decided against it, because one of the bowlers (Hazlewood) was injured. But even with that handicap, they managed to bowl out the Kiwis for less than 200 in both their innings. Anyway... now the boxing day test match is going to be an exciting one. New Zealand for sure will be looking for revenge.
But its Mission Impossible for New Zealand even they are looking for revenge Australia is very strong at home now they have some good batting and very good bowling which is giving them complete package tage they can sweep this series very easily New Zealand batting is also good but at home in oversease  matches usually they are average which is hurting them.

They were competitive in patches when top order was batting, That's how they got Warner and Smith wickets despite their good start and Lockie Ferguson injury didn't help Kiwi's cause, other than that Australia outplayed them completely in every department.
Australia recalled Peter Siddle in place of the injured Josh Hazlewood and New Zealand replaced the injured Lockie Ferguson with Kyle Jamieson who might be making his debut if he is playing in the boxing day Test and historically Australia dominate the boxing day Test in the past and i am expecting them to dominate the match and like the last match New Zealand might find success in some sessions.

The first test match was more competitive than what the scorecard suggests. Some of the New Zealand bowlers (especially Tim Southee and Neil Wagner) managed to get Australian batsmen in trouble.
How exactly was it competitive? Australia destroyed NZ and the result is clear to everyone. As expected, Starc(The Man) continues to dominate the Australian bowling attack while Lyon supported him nicely from behind. NZ was outclassed plain and simple.

Anyway... now the boxing day test match is going to be an exciting one. New Zealand for sure will be looking for revenge.
Revenge? They are trying to avoid a whitewash at this point in my opinion. None of their batsmen were able to face the fiery pace of the OZ bowlers. The only way they can win the upcoming match is if they get Warner, Marnus and Smith early.
