Damn ripper.... run out missed

72 runs partnership and Leech hit the most important run in his career.

Jeez..... And History is made, no one going to forget 2 match in their life.

World Cup Final and 2nd Test of 2019 Ashes.

Only one player, single handedly won the both games for England

That's really true, I have not seen such an interesting test match before.  This match was between Stokes and Australian team. The drama happened when a run out was missed and England had no more reviews to take that LBW in their favor.

Did you see that Stokes was not looking at Leach when he was at non-striking end and hoping leach survive the last balls of the overs. That much tense he was and the whole English crowd.

This match made my Sunday, a great day.  Smiley

This could really be awarded the test match of this decade. It was one of the most exciting and nerve wrecking test match I've ever followed.
76 runs partnership for the last wicket of which 74 were from Ben Stokes. 1 win for both the teams and a tie. The next two matches would also be an interesting event to watch.

Even the century in the first match is tiny than today's single. He did a very good job in his batting. Stokes, on the other hand, repeated the world cup final. Even Stokes didn't believe he can win the match.

They lost so many chances of getting Stokes out and then that run out and lost review.

England finally won the match and Stokes is just WOW! Without him, the team would never be able to even think of getting those runs. Last wicket and 76 run partnership. Unimaginable.
We can say we watch one of best match of cricket history its really miracle by Stoke and England they deserve this win even after all out 67 in first inning now this Ashes is going to be more interesting as this is going to be moral booster for home team.

19 runs from the last over. Only 18 runs need to win. This is beauty from Stokes, the world cup winner. Very exciting moment.
Jack Leach needs to assist 2 more overs and history will be created.

This is getting more than exciting.  Can strokes bring England to home ? I am loving the atmosphere at the ground.
Leach surviving each time . A Half chance catch dropped for stokes. Drama continues.

There are no possible way in test match to be a tie not even in theory :-P
Historically we had tied Test match if you were not aware of that. Wink

India vs Australia, 1986 was a tied Test match

Australia vs West Indies, 1960 Another tied Test match
Tongue
So basically it is possible. England reaches 358 runs and then they loose their final wicket and viola we have a tied Test match. Kiss

Ben Stokes just reached his century and he is knocking the bowlers all over the ground and he is in beast mode, just 18 more runs to win and it will be historic, i am watching the match live and the scenes took me back to the 2005 Ashes which was another thriller.

It's getting tense now. Just 37 runs needed and 1 wicket left. Couldn't imagine England getting so close to a win and only if Leach doesn't lose his wicket or Stokes doesn't take a risk, they can win this game. Stokes is trying too hard for chasing down the runs but it's just luck now more than good batting. Hope Stokes atleast gets his 100. Don't know who's better: Smith or Stokes?

Edit: Now 33 needed.

Australia need 1 more wicket, England need 48 more run. It's 4th day and the chance of match being drawn is zero. At this moment, Stokes is creating hopes for the English fan. I wish too Stokes make it.

Root is doing his job very well now. So far 46 not out.
Things turned out like what i predicted with Root playing a long innings and Stokes is still in the crease but 100 more runs to get and Woakes is batting along side Stokes and if England can pull this victory it will be a historic win for England with the score they had in the first innings.

Butler just gone, run out. As of now, they need 106 more runs to win. Australia is now back in the match. If they can took Stoke earlier, it will be easier win for them. What a dramatic match.
Run outs were the last thing they needed at this stage, this is a Test match for god's sake

Who could believe England getting all out for 67 could dream for a chase of 358?
Here i predicted the possibility for England to chase this target Wink

EDiT:

Edit: Oh my! 7th down but English can still breath. Stokes is there.
Finally Hazlewood is striking again.
Another wicket gone and the only thing i want to see now is Stokes taking risk and score boundaries rather than giving strike to the tail. It is really difficult for England to win from this stage.

Yup, it seems like we just got another twist in the match after Bairstow's wicket! If Aussies can somehow manage just two more wickets at this stage (of Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler), they'll gain back the control of the match.

Next 2 hours are critical.

Very quickly they are 6 down but still it looks English are in control. And in my calculation they will still be in control as long as Stokes is there. Can he save England again?

With Stokes on the crease, hope is still alive for England but still they have lost 5 wickets and need another 106 runs to chase down.

Edit: Lost their 6th wicket so again they are under pressure. With 4 wickets, it won't be possible for Stokes to manage the runs on his own.

I owe you some merit now. Out of it currently LOL

Debt paid. Sent him 2 merits (including 1 from me). Jsraw is good at pulling out facts.

It's a easy win for England now considering 1day they still have in their pocket plus lead is only a little over 100. But still there are only 2 regular batsman on crease and left are bowlers so still can happen anything.

There's only 4 successful chase of 300+ scores in Ashes history.

In 1948, 404, chased by Australia.
In 1928/29, 332 chased by England.
In 1902/02, 315 chased by Australia.
In 2001, 315 chased by England.

If England chase this time, it will be 2nd highest chase in Ashes history, highest for England. Guess what, in our era, it happened only 1 time which I didn't watch even. Another history we will be witnessed.

Back to the topic, I think it's game over. England is winning this match without any doubt. They only needs 118 runs and they have 6 more wickets in hand. Stokes and Bairstow are full set. Australia will now regret that they should add more runs in their 2nd innings.

By the way, I am curious if anyone placed any bet on my tip?

Edit: Bairstow out LOL! Any twist is waiting for us?

Anyway, now things are looking in favor of England and if they do manage a win then English supporters will remember it for long time also I will have a successful 3 fold tip (if India or NZ does not slip of course) :-D

No doubt about that and they have every reason to remember this game for ages, they never chased down the target this big successfully in the 4th inning in their Cricket history.

Plus, There are only 3 successful chase of more than 300 runs in  Headingley,Leeds's history. highest run chase in Leeds belongs to Austraila and Bradman scored 173 in that match, he was unbeaten in the end.

Highest run chase in Leeds

  • 1948 Australia Won against England 404/3
  • 2017 West Indies Won Against England 322/5
  • 2001 Australia Won Against England 315/4

This time England is Chasing against Australia. target 359 runs and they are at 238/4, need only 121 runs, let's see if they can make history here.
