Yesterday, New Zealand needed 227 runs to win against South Africa and I said then that runs will not matter to New Zealand if they build a good partnership. New Zealand started the fourth day well and their team captain secured the victory. Williamson was unbeaten on 133 runs. New Zealand batsmen did not perform well in the first innings but in the second innings they managed to play an important innings and that important innings helped them win. In Test matches, one cannot expect to win only one innings well, instead of just one innings, one should try to perform two consecutive innings, but the victory will likely come in favor of that team. Yeh it's true pitch look like favouring batting side and that's why we have a big bunch of target in first innings from indian side, while just like we expect we will have a big target tomorrow like around 400+ exact same things happened now while second innings England were looking under pressure and that why they lose thier important top order two batter but later after that they took a good start and brutally smashed entire indian bowling lineup. NZ won the match comprehensively in the New Zealand vs South Africa match. This is New Zealand's first test series win against South Africa in 92 years. Until Duckett is there, none of these tactics are going to work. At no point of time, he looked lacking confidence. Tomorrow's first session is going to be very crucial. If Duckett survives it, then he may even take England to a first-innings lead. Else, Root and Ben Stokes need to build a partnership to stabilize the innings. BTW, I am not really sure whether Jasprit Bumrah will be available for extended spells tomorrow. He was showing some signs of discomfort during the last session today. And I would still say that selecting two pacers for this match was a blunder by the Indian selectors.
Ben duckett is becoming increasingly formidable against the Indian bowlers for the England team. Looking at the batting performance of both teams in this match, it seems that the pitch of this test match is a batting pitch. First Jack Crawley and Ben Duckett put together a good partnership then Jack Crawley got out for 89 but Ben Duckett is still unbeaten even as he completes his century. ENG is pushing for the defensive mindset after such start which is exactly what they need to do and finally ball has been given to Ashwin but so far the runs are flowing in singles as well as boundaries.

Ben Duckett completed his half century with 12 T4's then his batting style was completely T20 style. Unbeaten on 133 off 118 balls so far. If Duckett can get through the two sessions till tomorrow then England's run score will be relatively high. If England want to draw this match then England must play two sessions tomorrow. Duckett and Joe Root have been on the wicket so far and if these two batsmen put together a good partnership tomorrow, the third Test match is likely to be a draw. Poms are sprinting and deserve a lot of credit for such positive batting and it'd be no surprise if they manage to wipe out all deficits in the next 50 overs.
Having said that, the last 5 overs showed a bit of sign that this attacking beast can be tamed. Rohit just needs to be proactive with their field settings and bowlers must follow the instruction.
Rohit took a page from Stoke's playbook and set a heavy leg side field and Siraj went with the short ball tactics and in the same over they managed to manufacture a wicket, similar to what England did. India needs more of that, even if they go for runs.

Am not surprised to see England absolutely hammering the Indians at the moment since this is a batting pitch and I heard that it will get better to bat on over time. Duckett is on fire while Pope is just enjoying the show.
I feel that Jadeja might break this partnership soon. A draw seems like the most probable result for this encounter in my opinion.

What will happen if Duckett gets out early tomorrow? None of the other English batsmen looked comfortable out there, including Zak Crawley, Ollie Pope and Joe Root. Duckett on the other hand started attacking the bowlers from the very first ball and continued with Bazball style till the end of day's play. Neither the pacers, nor the spinners were effective against him. And more worryingly for India, Jasprit Bumrah showed signs of unease. If this guy gets broken down every now and then, I don't know how he can be a regular in the team.

LOL.. so far it is like one-man show from Ben Duckett. He has scored with a strike rate of ~120, while Ollie Pope from the other end has crawled to 18 from 30 balls. Zak Crawley also struggled before he got out to Ravichandran Ashwin. He made just 15 from 28 balls. Duckett has moved to 97 from 79 balls, and he has scored almost 70% of the total (England are 137/1 as of now). England seems to be in a very strong position, and they have recovered from the loss of Crawley. BTW, Rohit is doing the right thing by sticking with Ravichandran Ashwin. He seems to be the best bowler for India as of now.

Indian tail and lower order had to work so hard for those 110 odd runs and here we are looking at Duckett making mockery of everything and just having fun with the field and bowlers.
Madlad is not even respecting Ashwin lol who just happened to touch a big milestone of a 500th wicket. Runs on the board for India but in the BAZBALL era there is no pressure of the scoreboard on this England team.

Both debutant played well in thier first test, Jurel neede only 4 runs to get to his furst half century. He missed it an he still has a second innings to get another. Brilliant effort by the tail batters they added good runs to the Indian scoreboard. It won't be that easy for the English batters to chase 445 runs. They will need a good innings and a big partnership to get those runs. Indian bowling attack would prevent them in getting those runs as they did last time.

The pitch should give some assistance to the spin attack as I saw earlier how spinners were able to utilize those cracks for advantage. Already Kuldeep has started bowling but I am not sure why Jadeja or Ashwin were not given the ball. I think it is a new ball and Rohit will wait for the ball to become old then he will bring them. Duckett is batting very well and has been aggressive against the Indian bowler, he has been hitting the ball constantly out of the boundary. The tactic has been similar in the earlier test match these two openers are creating pressure on the bowlers.
