~snip~

Dicey score, and it only needs one batsman for Kiwis to hit the target but as of now the ball is spinning a lot so they survived for the Lunch and will be back with the plan about how they will approach this target. But I am sure there will be a result on this match by today itself.

Lot of guys complaining about NZ batting, but I guess they are not much aware of test cricket. Roll Eyes
Not just spinning but the first couple of overs of Shoriful Islam were also on the money and he was zipping the ball like prime Wasim Akram lol.

True, one batter or 1 quick partnership will kill the buzz but at the same time wickets will come in clusters as well. That's what we get when bowlers are in the game.

New Zealand must win this match as Bangladesh were bowled out for just 144 runs.Looking at the game between Bangladesh and New Zealand series, I don't understand whether the batsmen are not able to run because of the batsmen's problem or the pitch.
New Zealand are batting in 1st season on the fourth day and New Zealand need only 136 runs to win which is very little.Maybe this Test series will be tied at 1-1.

Yes, Bangladesh's low score of 144 raises questions about their batting performance. It's unclear whether it's a batting issue or if the pitch conditions are challenging. New Zealand's strong position, needing only 136 runs to win, suggests they have the upper hand. Let's see how the rest of the match unfolds!
In fact, Mirpur pitch is a bowling pitch, especially the spinners get more support. Spinners took 9 out of 10 wickets in Bangladesh's second innings. Bangladesh managed to score 144 runs in the second innings only. Zakir Hasan scored only fifty runs, no batsman except him scored 20+ runs. Nurul Hasan had a poor performance in the first innings as well, getting 0 out in the second innings as well. He is a wicket keeper batsman and such poor performance is not expected from him.

Tom Latham and Devon Conway have both come out to bat, picking up 4 runs in 3 overs so far. Needing just 133 runs to win, New Zealand can win without any pressure. New Zealand have a chance to bat today and tomorrow. New Zealand has a chance to win if they perform well from the start. Bangladesh has no chance of winning unless something unfortunate happens. If Bangladesh could have given a target of 200 plus runs then it would have been expected. Let's see if Bangladesh can create any incident.

250? I doubt that. They will probably end up scoring something closer to 200 unless they collapse like crazy. The kiwi spinners have already begun piling on the misery and the seam bowlers joined in on the action too.

They should be fine if they post a target close to 200 thanks to their spinners who are in great form currently.

It was not 250 neither 200 as Bangladesh settled for 144 and this means New Zealand need only 137 runs to win. 8 Bangladeshi wickets have gone down in first session. Axer Patel got 6 wicktes and it should now be a comfortable win for New Zealand. Bangladesh once again prove that they are not consistent in there performance and are only capable of wining just one game.

Bangbros lead is 120 runs and 9 down.

I think we'll have a thrilling Kiwi chase. A juicy pitch so surely they will bring all the guns and no tuk tuk approach. This hit and miss approach is going to be fun on a turner.  Grin

---------------------

137 runs to win for 1-1. Guess Bongs are 15-20 runs short but it's still a competitive score here.

The second test is most definitely going to the Kiwis now thanks to the pathetic batting performance by the Bangladeshi players. Ajaz Patel and Mitchell Santner ripped through their lineup like crazy.

All Bangladesh can hope for now is more rain to interfere so that they can somehow win the series instead of drawing it.

Bangladesh collapsed from 71/2 to 97/7. Apart from Zakir, no other batter was able to score some runs. Analysts are saying that the target of 137 runs on this pitch is very difficult. A careful start to the innings from New Zealand batters. Fingers crossed for a thriller.

This test match now become historic, but for wrong reasons.

The lead is 136 now and we have an innings break. Bangladesh's collapse changed the complexion of this match. The match which was looking to be in the favour of Bangladesh is now totally changed. New Zealand team should win this match from here and i do not see another batting collapse, more worse than Bangladesh.

Bangladesh is 121/8 in their second innings. The lead is 113 now, and if they manage to add another 30 to 40 runs in this, they will be in a commanding position to seal the victory and a historic series win. New Zealand bowlers did well initially, but Zakir Hasan's inning is hearting them badly.

If Zakir Hasan hadn't played that innings of 59 in the 2nd innings, then it would have been all over for Bangladesh. However since no one was able to give company to Zakir Hasan, so the Bangladesh were unable to make any good score in this innings.

Ah! The poster's curse (like the commentator's curse)  Grin A while ago, I was praising Zakir's batting and the next moment, he was back in the dugout.

While I was typing this post, Bangladesh's inning concluded. New Zealand needs 137 runs to win the match.
I agree with your point of view that New Zealand should approach the game positively and try to finish the game as quickly as possible. An exciting couple of sessions ahead.

New Zealand bowlers did well initially, but Zakir Hasan's inning is hearting them badly. Bangladesh will be hoping that he stays at the crease for another hour or so. His inning is slowly taking the game away from New Zealand.
A target of over 150 will be a tough ask for New Zealand batters, and they have to plan their innings accordingly if they want to win the match.
On the pitch, I think Bangladesh should make better wickets to compete at global stages; these kind of pitches are hearting their cricket.

Play has resumed and the two Bangladeshi batsmen out there (Zakir Hasan and Mominul Haque) actually look very comfortable against the combination of Ajaz Patel and Tim Southee. At this point, Bangladesh leads by 42 runs and IMO they need another 120-130 runs to ensure the victory. Weather prediction is very clear and there is a good chance that Bangladesh may reach their optimal total by the first session itself. That would mean that they will have 60-65 overs today to bowl out New Zealand. If there are no surprises or interruptions, then we will get a result by end of today.

Bangladesh lost their first wicket by 3 runs and their second wicket by 38 runs. The match has now been stopped due to lack of light. Perhaps the Bangladesh team will not get a chance to bat again today. I don't expect a good performance from Bangladesh's top order. But I expect good performance from middle-order Mushfiq, Mominul and Miraj today. If these three batsmen are able to bat responsibly then the Bangladesh team will be able to give a target of more than 220. And on such a pitch 220 runs would be enough to win.

220 is not needed. We saw how New Zealand batting collapsed during the second innings of first test match. I would say that a target of 150 should be enough and 170-180 should give Bangladesh a comfortable win. And if the Bangladeshi batsmen bat a bit more carefully, then it is achievable. But if they go in T20 mode, then there is a risk that they will lose quick wickets and their batting may collapse. Throughout the match, Bangladesh has maintained an upper hand and it will be disappointing if they flounder it as a result of carelessness.
In 2nd inningg Bangladesh 38/2 in just 8 overs and lead by 30 runs and day 3 stumps off Ban team play fast to give target in maximum overs to avoid test draw captain Najmul Hossain out early on 15 runs and Zakir Hasan with 16 runs on the crease. Ajaz patel and tim southee both take single wickets Bangladesh team will start morning session of day 4 with his batting both teams should try their best to win this match if Ban team lead around about 200+ on day 4 its very difficult for New Zealand to chase this target on 5th day so they should out early Ban team in first 2 session under 170 and chase the target in remaining sessions
Second test game in Bangladesh vs New Zealand team game, today New Zealand ended their first inning and all players dismissed after they scored 180 runs and also in 1 st inning of Bangladesh team, they scored 172 runs. It's mean that New Zealand chase down all 172 runs and then 8 runs lead by New Zealand. But in 2 inning Bangladesh team effort was not good because they lost their two wickets in 32 runs in 8 overs. M.Joy player dismissed from field, he scored 2 runs in 2 balls. N.Shanto also dismissed from pitch, he scored 15 runs in 24 balls and he hitted two four 4s. Z.Hasan and M.Haque now showing batting effort in pitch and Z.hasan scored 16 runs in 21 ball with three 4s and M.Haque scored 0 runs right now. Now, Bangladesh have good chance and take advantage to set high runs and secure some wickets for long duration. Bangladesh team lead this game by 30 runs.
The fourth day of the second Test between Bangladesh and New Zealand is about to begin shortly. Even though there are two days left in this test, I would say that the result of this test will either be a win or a loss because a batsman cannot bat for a long time even if he wants to take the wicket. New Zealand already lead Bangladesh by 8 runs in the first innings so Bangladesh must collect a big one to win the second test even though Bangladesh lost 2 wickets in the first 30 runs. The two batsmen who start the fourth day must form a good partnership, when the two batsmen can form a good partnership in the beginning then the lower order batsmen will get better batting confidence. It is a big chance for Bangladesh to win the Test series against New Zealand.

New Zealand bounced back pretty nicely thanks to Phillips when they were 95/7 at one point while Bangladesh would be regretting not removing him quicker since they could have given them a decent lead.

Bangladesh are in danger here and need to score at least something close to 180-200 in order to ensure their win in this match.
These 85 runs are going to have big impact on this match with New Zealand surely done impressive comeback and now having driving seat into this match for win and having level in series as well Bangladesh which was doing good in early part of the match having poor in one session and now surely regretting about this all, but currently we have good situation in this match with all three results are possible specially win for the both teams are in handy situation.

Tomorrow first session will be decided who is going through because here we need good bowling from the New Zealand spin bowlers as well for the better result of their team if they are able to have few quick wickets then surely things can take good change, and they can win this match after Phillip's heroic inning.

It's a great opportunity for Bangladesh team to win a test series against a strong test side i.e. New Zealand. If Bangladesh can give a target of around 250 then they have fair chance of winning this test. We still have 2 days left and if there is no further rain interruption then surely there will be result. 22 wickets have already gone down in just 3 days of test play and it clearly tells the support it has for bowlers.
There was good chance for the Bangladesh to win this match and series with the score of 2–0 which they lost due to their poor decision and poor bowling to tail enders which bring New Zealand into this match thanks to Glenn Phillip's 87 runs inning now after three days we have after lost of one day and few hours still things under control for the win of any team but here Bangladesh needs to bat very carefully because they need to have some 200+ for the win in this match and inning which is looking not easy.

New Zealand having good hobby of fight back, so the last two days are going to be very interesting for the series and home team which is looking for a historic win in this series after having good performance in their first match.

The second day of the Dhaka Test was completely suspended due to rain, the third day of play was partially played, but at the end due to the light, the umpire decided to stop the game in time. The second Test is going day by day and the wicket is behaving worse. If Bangladesh bats tomorrow, then there is no good wicket waiting for them, surely one of their own batsmen should score runs by batting in T20 style. While the wicket can be batted on the fourth day, it will be very difficult to bat on the wicket in the fifth test as the ball takes more speed and more spin on the fifth day.
Since the pitch is very slow towards the end and it is difficult for the batsmen to bat, Bangladesh's decision to win the toss and bat was a good decision.

Even if the target is less than 220, there is a chance for Bangladesh to win. Because scoring runs in the second innings is much more difficult on this type of pitch. We saw this in the first Test match as well. However, if Bangladesh provides more than 220 targets, they can stay in the safe zone. Bangladeshi bowlers should not be under too much pressure. But if the target is less than 200 then Bangladesh bowlers will be under pressure. We saw in the first innings, New Zealand collected 180 runs after losing 5 wickets for just 46 runs. And so the Bangladeshi batsmen have to bat with some responsibility and try to collect runs like 220. Bangladesh lost two wickets to collect 38 runs.
