Well.. this is something that has happened in the past with teams like India as well. They prepare dustbowls against SENA teams, hoping that their spinners will be able to exterminate the opposition. Once in a while, spinners from the opposition side take advantage of this situation and in the end the tactic backfires on the sub-continental team. As such there is nothing wrong with these tactics from Bangladesh. If they had prepared good pitches, then in all probability New Zealand would have swept the series 2-0.
Does this backfire narrative apply to Aussies? They managed to lose 2 back to back series in their backyard by giving Indians bouncy wickets.

Does this also apply to Poms? They rolled over green pitch at lord etc and almost lost the series and had to settle with a draw series after one year.

Does this narrative also apply to Proteas? Remember the time, when they gave such a bouncy, paced pitch that their batters refused to bat on, kohli's team spanked them badly there despite losing a series.

SENA countries offering Green, Bouncy, Seam and talk would be around good/bad cricket, good/bad cricketers and skill/unskilled but everyone takes a U-turn when any subcontinent team prepares spin wickets. I hope you got the point.

In Test cricket, every team is going to prepare the pitch as they wish it to be. And most of the time they are going to prepare the tracks so that they have an advantage. That is going to be the story of almost every test match in every country.
I don't know why, for some reason, people are losing their minds over this. Because people should know that this is what they should expect. And the team touring another country also knows that very well and they should also be prepared accordingly.

Shortest ever test wrt the balls played happened in Mirpur again. It was only a 2 match test series, while Bangladesh won the first, New Zealand took the 2nd to make the series a draw and by winning, they won the shortest Test match wrt the balls played.

Ok. If I am not wrong, The test match from 2018 In Mirpur resulted in 1 demerit point for the condition of the Pitch. It was marked as average by ICC and 1 demerit point was added. But BCB continued making such pitches but fortunately, they didn't get any demerit points in the last five years. That was the shortest test match in terms of balls played.

Now, this one has taken the place. Do we know if this ground got some demerit points or not? The Pitch was below average or I could say it was a Poor wicket to play the test. BCB should refrain from arranging all the matches in this stadium so they can make a better pitch.

OP I totally agree with you. They will take the opportunity to play at their own home ground and batting so badly in the first innings and the last innings of the second Test. Bangladesh were all out for only 144 runs in the second innings. This shows how weak Bangladesh's batting was in the second innings. Maybe we thought to ourselves that for the first time ever we would beat New Zealand in a Test match at our home ground. But this dream will remain our dream forever. Bangladesh team used to bat and bowl very well, now their bat is much worse. So Bangladesh must focus on their batting, they must make their batting better, otherwise Bangladesh will face a batting disaster just like we saw in Bangladesh 2023 World Cup batting failure. Championship trophy ahead so Bangladesh should prepare themselves well.

Bangladesh won the first match of the two-match Test series between Bangladesh and New Zealand by huge runs, but in the second match, Bangladesh was caught out by Glenn Phillips at the Sher Bangla Stadium in Mirpur due to bad weather conditions. The series is tied 1-1.

The problem is not that Bangladesh lost to New Zealand, the problem is that Bangladesh gave very little run target to New Zealand only 172+144. Which was a very sad score for the Bangladesh team. This defeat once again proved that the continuity of the Bangladesh team could never be preserved.

All the best for the Bangladesh team, there will be good things in the future.

Bangladesh really messed up by not getting Phillips early in the first innings and he ended up screwing them in both innings while the rest of the team struggled a lot. Santner gave him good support.

The Islam bros and Miraz were the standouts while the rest of the bowlers were pretty much useless. Ajaz and Taijul are my picks for the best bowlers of this series.

Bangladesh messed up when they created the minefield for the second time in a row. It backfired on them, as the New Zealand bowlers made life miserable for the Bangladeshi batsmen. And don't forget the fact that Bangladeshi had won the toss and had opted to bat first. Despite the home advantage and tailor-made pitch, Bangladesh managed to lose the match. This is a huge morale booster for New Zealand. They managed to level the series 1-1 and it is a big achievement given the hostile conditions and past record.
Teams of any country in the world take home advantage of that country but Bangladesh cannot take home advantage of Mirpur. They were bowled out for just 172 runs and 144 runs in Mirpur. Comparatively, it can be said that New Zealand has taken more home advantage than Bangladesh. In this case, if Bangladesh had shown self-restraint in every innings, no matter how bad the pitch was, they would not have been all out for 172 and 144 runs. Bangladesh had many chances to win the second test as well but only to lose miserably due to Bangladesh's poor performance.

In an era of T-20 cricket, nothing pleases me more than batters running around like a headless chicken and occasionally grinding and showing batting masterclass, so pleasing to the eyes.
Your posts always put a smile on my face.  Grin
Glad to hear bhai, Cheers Smiley

Satner is still new in the test cricket but he's no mug with the bat and quite handy in white ball cricket as well so he knows a thing or two about batting.
Santner is comparably equal to Jadeja in the batting and bowling skills but in IPL he didn't get many chances due to only 4 foreign player rule but if he gets picked for other team then he would become a front line bowler for their team. Well, talking abouttest matches he is about 25 matches which is a milestone too and he just entered into his 30's hopefully Kiwi will utilize him in the red ball well.
like other posters already mentioned, we can't compare Satner with Jadeja. The former is a good asset for the Kiwis but Jaddu is a generational talent and gifted cricketer. India will miss him immensely once he retires.

NZ plays fewer tests overall so I think most of the time they use him strategically. He's not their first choice spinner in the subcontinent but he makes it into the team when they play in SENA countries because the likes of Ish Sodhi and Azaz Patel are pretty much useless in SENA condition and on top of that Satner is handy with the bat so he gets in as a spin all rounder. Having said that, I believe in the future Satner's competition in SENA conditions would be Rachin Ravindra if the new guy Rachin can improve his bowling in Red ball cricket.

I don't think we can compare these two as Ravindra Jadeja is much superior in all departments from Santner but no doubt he has no chances like Jadeja in all formats but as his current status he is doing ok for his team and producing good results which is good news for him and his country recently New Zealand is doing good work in spin department and bringing good spinners which are giving them good results specially Ajaz Patel is having good record in subcontinent conditions, and he is bringing good results as well.
I agree. Santner is a league away from Jadeja in all departments if you ask me since Jaddu can consistently bat, ball and field while Santner is an inconsistent performer in all departments though he is still a great player.

Someone like Shakib can be compared with Jadeja since they have established themselves as legendary all-rounders already.

Mostly Santner is involved in white-ball cricket instead of red-ball which is his specialty, hopefully in near future he can bring better results in presence of Sodhi and Patel and this trio will help New Zealand for having better results in all formats.

I didn't think I would get the results of Test matches in such a short time but Bangladesh and New Zealand didn't waste any extra time. The match would have ended on the third day had the rain not stopped play. The Bangladeshi batsmen came out to bat on the wicket in the second innings and they quickly returned to the pavilion. In the second innings Bangladesh lost all the wickets and managed to score only 144 runs, on the other hand New Zealand secured an easy victory in the second Test against Bangladesh with four wickets in hand. The result of the first test was in favor of Bangladesh and the result of the second test was in favor of New Zealand Test series draw.
Now we are living in completely different era where things are changing very quickly without any problem so in near future mostly we will have test matches ended in three or four days which could be common because batsmen try to play quickly which are helping things for having the good number of wickets in everyday play.
English bazball is also going to have good impact and Australians are also doing good work with their mostly run-rate will be at the 3.5 to 4 which is also helpful for aggressive approach in test matches even most chances we will have no increase test match fans but still this is good for the game in the future.

New Zealand team would not have been able to win this match if Glenn Phillips did not bat well. Phillips' performance in both the innings was excellent. And at the same time the performance of New Zealand's top order players was not good. New Zealand lost 5 wickets for 46 runs in the first innings and the team lost 5 wickets for 51 runs in the second innings. Due to Phillips' responsible batting, New Zealand managed to collect big in both innings. I was sure that after the defeat in the first test, New Zealand would win the second match either way.

Bangladesh needed at least 180-200 to defend. Such tricky surfaces often backfire, and Bangladesh lost. New Zealand did a great comeback, and credit goes to the excellent partnership by Santner and Phillips. Glenn Phillips did the right thing. You need to do a counter-attack on this kind of wicket.

Very interesting stats: In the recent test, Bangladesh confirmed their first-ever victory against New Zealand on home soil, while New Zealand achieved their first test win in Bangladesh in 15 years.
In the second Test match of Bangladesh vs New Zealand, Bangladesh were bowled out for 144 runs. If Bangladesh could have given New Zealand a target of 200 runs, perhaps Bangladesh would have won the match. And if Bangladesh can win this second test match, then maybe Bangladesh could defeat New Zealand for the first time in a test. Bangladesh won the first test match with such power. If the batsmen of Bangladesh could have maintained their consistency and played in the second test, maybe the Bangladesh team would have won. New Zealand won the second test match by 4 wickets. Congratulations to the New Zealand team.
Bangladesh's quality of play was not good in the second test match. I also commented yesterday that Bangladesh might be going hand in hand in the second test match. Just like that happened New Zealand won the match by 4 wickets. Although Bangladesh defeated New Zealand by 150 runs in the 1st Test match, New Zealand could not win the match by a margin as Bangladesh. However, the two teams are on equal winning scores so far due to the two teams winning the two Test matches. So this win was very important for New Zealand.

I didn't watch the match but the stats tells the story that it was made only for bowlers with no support for batsmen.
The pitch of Mirpur was especially made for the spin bowlers only. Bangladesh had made the pitch spin friendly to create pressure on New Zealand, both teams have suffered for the condition of the pitch. But Bangladesh team has fallen in their own trap. Glenn Phillips has played very well in such pitch. I wouldn't be surprised if the Mirpur Stadium receives demerit points.

Who thought New Zealand would take the lead in the first innings after the end of the first day? Glenn Phillips took it too easy on the third day and played without any pressure. Seems like he was playing T20Is. Fortunately, they were able to take the lead in such a pitch. Bangladesh tried to trap them which kind of worked. But, they are trapped in their own traps. LOL. Glenn Phillips played like one man Army in this match. Congratulations team New Zealand.
