Good video on old trafford test cancellation. It appears that players are saying enough is enough regarding their tight schedule and mental health.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_qk0Og-qoY
Is it a 26 minute long video? I am sorry my bandwidth definitely will not let me to watch and hear the full video. Could you briefly elaborate what is the core point of this video on last test match cancellation between India and England. I do follow only cricinfo for all cricket news but there I read only covid was the reason for India for unable to field a team. Not sure how corporate are secretly dominating ICC and all other nations' cricket boards. Anyhow, team managements must give enough time for all players between series. Otherwise, we may see such cancellations in more frequent occasions.

Basically what happened is Coronavirus has spread among the Indian camp. So they were unable to form a team for the fifth and final test match between England and India. The news has been confirmed by the England cricket board. This certainly makes us cricket fans really sad. Other test matches of this series were really interesting and satisfying to watch. This would also have been a great match no doubt. But seems like this wasn't to be.

After Old Trafford test cancellation, New Zealand has gone to one next level by canceling there 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is tour to Pakistan. Old Trafford Test cancellation reasons were unclear but New Zealand have given clear statement regarding cancellation of this tour to Pakistan i.e. security concerns.

Both board may blame each other but the big question is who is more beneficial on the final decision on the 5th test match ?

For that, the decision needs to be known. The ICC hasn't taken a decision yet. BCCI has requested them to consider the 5th test as "no result". However the ECB is arguing that it should be "forfeited by India". Depending on the ICC, the series may either be won by India 2-1, or drawn at 2-2. The real losers are TV broadcasters and sponsors. And for the ECB, the question mark remains on the financial impact. Depending on which way the ICC takes it's decision, they may be eligible for the insurance payout or not.

@bryant.coleman ECB is one of the biggest loser if the result goes against them, because then they can’t claim the insurance money and they lose the trophy too. Also ICC can’t risk upsetting BCCI so the only logical solution is to have this test at a later stage, and bend the rules and say due to covid we had to allow this, and by bending the rules ICC can satisfy all the parties involved.

The points that you stated support the minority in this case. It's pretty clear that ECB and BCCI are blaming each other primarily due to financial reasons.

Observed that recent posts discussed IPL which is a T-20 tournament which is why this particular discussion needs to continue in the T-20 Discussion thread in my opinion.

Exactly, we have separate threads for all the different formats of cricket and the respective discussion should be in the respective thread.

For T20:-
T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion

For ODI:-

First they have the T20 Blast (in which 18 county sides take part), and then from this year onwards they have started the Hundred as well. There is hardly any room in the international calendar because of all the franchise leagues and bilateral tours. And now the pig 3 want to reduce the number of ICC events. ECB has no reason to complain. The BCCI prioritized their franchise league (IPL), just like the ECB prioritized theirs. The ECB guys are just a bunch of hypocrites.
I agree. Majority believed the rumours about the Indian team openly violating COVID norms and criticised them while defending ECB and the England team while the minority didn't and supported India's decision to abandon the final test.

BCCI sitting at top as far as food chain is concern, this doesn't surprise anyone tbh.

ECB and CA rolled over CSA last year. ICC did nothing and BCCI did the same with ECB.

Indian team was in England for 4 months and BCCI tried their best to move Old Trafford test to early as possible but ECB repeatedly declined the request because they wanted to take care of "The 100".

Who permitted the ECB to have two franchise leagues in a year? ~snip~

Nor was the schedule of test series set up on the fly. Players are always fit and available for leagues but not for national side event. There must be some schedule like we have in football, where leagues don't interfere with national side schedule.
Was anyother team like Sri lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh allowed to do the same with ECB? I really doubt.

The BCCI president (Sourav Ganguly) has issued a statement. He has said that the replacement match for the 5th test should be considered as a continuation of the England vs India series. This contradicts the report made by an Indian news paper, which claimed that Ganguly wanted the replacement match as a one-off event. But implicaitons are greater than a series loss for the ECB. If the ICC rules that the action by BCCI amounted to "acceptable non-compliance", then the ECB won't be able to claim the insurance payment for the abandoned test.
Is this recent statement? Sounds silly to me.

The final Test match is not abandon because of any other fitness issue. The sporting events are conducted in a bubble and there were positive cases in the Indian camp and so is the reason they did not want to risk playing when their entire coaching staff is infected including their physiotherapist. Hope you are aware that majority of the England players are not even playing in the IPL when they restart but they are in the T20 World Cup squad.

As you mentioned the England series was not scheduled on the fly, they should understand the risk of playing during a pandemic and must conduct the tournament in that manner, once the tournament date is fixed and their schedules are jam packed, what do you expect. They would stay and extend the tournament.

I have to say that the ECB is getting a taste of their own medicine. Serves them well.

There is a documentary released in 2015, called "Death of a Gentleman". It explains how the pig 3 (BCCI, ECB and CA) completely took over governance of the ICC and sidelined (in sometimes destroyed) the smaller boards. Giles Clarke of the ECB played a very major role, along with N Srinivasan and Sharad Pawar of the BCCI and Wally Edwards of Cricket Australia. Back then, the ECB was not complaining, because they were the oppressors. Now the roles have changed and they are complaining.

Well ever since this big three model came up, we are seeing extra ordinary influence of three teams i.e. India, Aus and England. Recent test cancellation is strongly criticised by fans and media in England as its clearly for IPL. And this clearly show how strong BCCI is. No one can confront BCCI as everyone wants IPL contract. Anyone against them lose too much money in the form of IPL denial. See example of Pakistan, despite no 1 team in T20 they were denied entry in IPL.
The schedule for the IPL is not set up on the fly. You need to blame the tight schedule for the cancellation of the final Test match, since they are playing during a pandemic and they did not even set an extra date and they filled the open dates with matches and the players are humans as they cannot play all the time and expect to perform at their best. Fatigue is a huge factor and i would still love to see the final Test rescheduled than watching the IPL to be frank.

That is not the full story.

ECB wanted India to forfeit the 5th test, because they claimed that the breach in bio-bubble was caused due to the carelessness from the part of Indians. Some of the ECB officials claimed that contingent members were found partying outside their hotel, although they were supposed to stay inside the bubble for all the time. If the accusation is true, then I won't be surprised. Because the same happened on multiple times previously. Indian team members seems to have a problem in remaining inside their bio-bubble.
Who knows how much of this is true or not? This could just be a strategy employed by the ECB to prove that the Indian team are at fault in this case. The truth is that people get infected sometimes no matter how cautious they are.

So many people seemed to have forgetten how scary COVID truly is. The Indian team didn't want to risk losing the final test match because of their physio problems and the upcoming 2nd leg of IPL 2021 and I support their decision.

Those fans who have criticised the Indian team and the board should understand that the Indian team support staff was quarantine. How can a team play a five-day game when they do not have support. It is just simple common sense which the media and so-called fans do not have it seems.

I disagree. Some fans like me didn't criticise the test cancellation since we agreed with India's decision who weren't willing to take risks due to their physios getting infected.

ECB wanted India to forfeit in order to save face, but the BCCI weren't dumb enough to succumb to their demands. Also, Pakistan players aren't part of the IPL in recent years due to tensions between India and Pakistan(Not just the BCCI).

But we saw IPL in full swing going on despite massive spread of covid in India until some players decided to leave to show support for the sufferings of the people (Zampa, Ashwin and few others).
Whether it's on choice of ECB or BCCI, such things are not good for the game in the long run.

What about Hardik Pandya? He was a part of the Indian T20 squad, despite not being 100% fit. I guess the selectors don't want to drop him because of his celebrity status. His recent form was also horrible. And it will be interesting to see whether Mumbai Indians will also do the same, for the second leg (UAE/Oman) of the IPL. And it's not like MI doesn't have a replacement for Hardik. He is useless with the ball anyway. For batting, they can replace him with James Neesham or Saurabh Tiwary.
There was a time when Hardik Pandya was included just for his batting as if there are no other players in the Indian squad but right now he has regained his fitness and he started to bowl and in the recently concluded Sri Lankan series he was bowling even though he did not contribute much to the team with the bat or ball. Will see whether MI will pick him in the team because he needs match time to regain form and if he gets going he can hit the ball a long way.
