It is still raining and if it continue like this it will have an impact on the results.

The fifth day's play is being delayed due to rain. Now I am not expecting to see any result of this match anymore. The match will be a draw. Even if the rain ends, India may get a chance to play 50/60 overs. If India play to win in 50 overs, they will lose wickets very quickly. Indian batsmen should not forget that England's bowlers are very experienced.

Hopefully no draw due to rain interruptions. Win or lose doesn't matter much as long as they are playing good cricket and its a long series (cliche  Tongue). So far both teams showed good character which matter most in the test cricket, at least its not a one-sided game.
The weather is helping England as its raining and it might create issues for the batsman and it is hard to predict how the pitch will behave and if couple of sessions are lost due to rain then India will try for a draw rather than going for a win as they still need 157 runs to win and if that is the situation it will be hard to defend the for two sessions if England sets aggressive field.

~
Weather report says that there is a chance of happening rain on day 5. But it won't create much impact if it happens for a short time, like a single session. Target isn't big and two session of tomorrow will be enough to chase it. India scored 34 runs till now and lost 1 wicket.
It is still raining and if it continue like this it will have an impact on the results.

Indra devta is not looking happy today, its raining in Nottingham. Situation could be very tricky for Indian batters if there is any on-off game play scenario, not to mention overcast condition throughout the game which always favors the pace battery, so superb condition for bowling.

Fingers crossed for the Indian middle order.  Tongue If India wins today then it would be very sweet achievement as they never won a series opener in any SENA country (if i'm not wrong).

Yes 157 not a huge amounts for Indian cricket team. It would be highly possible to get any win results. Now India four days stumps with 52/1 and only 157 runs need to win ...

Now there are only two possible outcomes: a win for India, or a draw. I don't think that it is possible for England to win this match, unless Broad or Anderson takes out a miraculous performance. My concern is the weather. Yesterday rain stayed away for most of the time. But heavy rains are predicted for today at Nottingham, especially during the first half (there's a 62% probability of precipitation). How many overs are needed for India to win this match? If half of the mandatory overs are washed out, will they be able to win the match?

India needs only 157 runs to win. There are a lot of experienced batsmen in the Indian squad. 157 runs is not a big deal for them. But the rain will probably help the England team avoid the embarrassment of defeat. If 1 session game is interrupted due to rain, the match will be drawn. If it doesn't rain, the match will be completely under Indian control unless there is a miracle.
India need 157 runs with 9 wickets remaining. India has a good chance of winning the match. However, England could get their usual assist from nature and get a favorable condition for a draw. As long as that stays out of the day, India can win this match. However, in cricket anything can happen.

Looks like India will most probably win this match unless they collapse which I don't think will happen. 150+ target is pretty small and there are plenty of great batsmen available to play in the 2nd innings.

I hope Pujara doesn't get dismissed quickly this time around since he needs to prove why he still deserves a place in the current test squad. Kohli needs to step up too in my opinion.

The target is not that huge for India to chase but they still need to get 157 runs in the final day with 9 wickets in hand and the positive aspect is that India is not in the back foot and they can still win the match easily if a couple of players perform well and hopefully Virat Kohli would stay till the end but James Anderson and Stuart Broad will test the players and the weather is an important factor.
I do not think that batting for the fifth day will not be a special one how most Asian pitches are behaving. This Nottingham pitches slowly turning as a flat one hence I guess India may chase down the target within 2nd session of final day for losing 2 or 3 more wickets.

If Anderson and Board will bowl like their old golden days along with Robinson then India may go on back foot but considering only less than 160 more to get, I guess India would be the favorite to win this first test match of 2nd test championship tournament.

In Search of Incredible
And England set a target of 208 runs for India and if England could score 300 runs in the second innings i think it is score they can reach tomorrow unless they mess up completely and they have a habit of loosing the first match of a series like others mentioned and it is a match for India to win if everything goes well and the final day is not interrupted by rain.
22 overs remaining in the day and England need to pick wickets to make things interesting.
Odds is in favor of India now. They will win the match if the batsman don't make any mistakes. I think Indian batsman will score above 60 runs before the end of today's game. Wow Curran is gone but he damaged enough now hope that India wrap up their tail quickly one more time. May 10-15 more runs?

Its true that they do have a habit of throwing away every 1st game but it also true that they have good chance here. Almost 18-20 overs left in today's game, if our openers clicks and survives today then India is winning 90% , 10% chance of loss if they manage to repeat 36 all out kind of collapse. Joe Fu**ing Root single handedly saved the England. What a player and what a century!! Deserve place in all time great if he manage to improve his conversion rate, which is still bad in comparison of other Big 3 batters (Kohli+Kane+Smith). Match is slipping away from India's reach very quickly, already 200 runs on the scoreboard and Sam Curran is in T-20 mode.

England started their second innings too stronger but I doubt for a result out of this match from this point of game.
England already lost 5 wickets and Joe Root is their only hope and they lead by 140 runs and if India could pick up the wickets in quick succession then we will see a result, how long England can bat depends upon how the match goes.

India batting line up seemed too good hence even England may take a lead up to 300 may not be sufficient to push for a result as there would be only day of play is remaining. So, most probably we could expect a dram from this match unless otherwise Anderson, Board and the new pacer show some magic while India batting.
The opening batsman are playing well and their tail end players always perform, the rest of the players perform once in a while and it was the situation in the past few tours.

I have put my bet for England winning but when rain started playing as a third team, I had made up my mind for a draw. Until October, no matches in England is safer for betting with.
You cannot under estimate how difficult it would be to play in the final day, India surprised everyone with 36 All out in the first match of the Australian tour, so anything is possible  Wink Grin.

England scored 211 runs. England lost 4 wickets. Joe Root is unbeaten on 90 runs. And England lead by 116 runs. So far the England team is playing well enough. This match will be a draw if they can play the whole day today. I thought India would be able to stop the England team before 250. But now looking at England's batting, it seems that the match is more likely to be a draw. And England will be able to collect around 300.

Score 231 by losing 5. Joe Root is still in the crease. As long as Joe Root is at the crease I think the England team will play well. If Joe Root is out, it doesn't look like the batsmen will be able to stay at the crease for long.

If England can take a lead of more than 200 runs, the result is likely to be a draw. I don't think India will win by collecting more than 200 runs on the fifth day. England's bowling lineup is strong enough.

^^^ Joe Root is playing a great knock and if the Indian bowlers are not able to pick his wicket now then he might turn the match upside down as he is scoring freely in this pitch was looked like a nightmare for the first three days and till now there was no interruption due to weather and it is a really good sign and if England continue like this and set a target of 250 plus i think India will struggle.

Joe Root is playing an incredible knock, he has already scored 71 and might reach 100 if he continues like this. The match is going for a certain draw in my opinion. Only three wickets down and England lead by 40 runs. If the rain had not played a spoilsport then this match would have been very interesting.
