After Jadeja's dismissal, India managed to score 46 runs. I thought they would collect 20/25 runs if too much. India is leading by 95 runs. That’s a lot for that kind of pitch. England players have to play very carefully today. Maybe 30-32 overs will be played today. The match will be drawn if England does not lose any wickets today, otherwise, I think England is more likely to lose.
Rain is playing the spoilers and it is highly unlikely we will see the match continue today and England did not loose any wickets, India lost the advantage as i thought they will be scoring a huge first innings lead and if not for the innings by KL Rahul the situation would have been pathetic.

I still think we will see a result in the match and it all depends how England can bat.

Rain could save England from defeat. Otherwise, it will be very difficult for the England team to draw in this match. The Indian bowlers are in form today.

The bowlers are sledging to weaken the opposing batsmen mentally. I see the case of Robbinson and Kl Rahul that way. But Kl Rahul has played great yesterday. He was at the crease for a long time. While Pujara, Kohli, and Rahane could not co-operate with the team, Rahul was able to perform his respnsibility properly.
I think rain could missed the results but it would be clear that any results could come out in this test match. England 183 and 25/0 . But now India leading 70 runs.....

I missed the first 3 days live action as i was traveling but was keeping tab on cricbuzz commentary.

Overall very happy and if we keep Indian middle order (Pujara-Kohli-Rahane) out from the discussion then Indians played excellent cricket so far. Everyone chipped in bowling department, even Takhur saab did okay, he did gave few runs during his last spell but before that he was very economical and bagged a prize wicket of Joe Root, would have been great if he managed to score few runs but its okay, may be next time.

I was skeptical about KL Rahul because of his last painful SENA tour but in last couple of weeks he's looking solid, he scored ton in warm up game and now this inning. Although he was lucky but still pitch was doing all sort of trick and it commendable that he stood his ground for long and manage to build small important partnerships with other batters and its very important in English conditions. So many positives for India so far. Sir Jadeja was no surprise and our boy Bumrah is back in form with the ball, his yorkers against the tailenders were amazing to witness. It was pleasing experience that Indian bowlers wrapped up tailenders cheaply and also added very valuable runs. I hope Indian tail make this their habit or atleast they should try to put price on their wickets.

English fielding was below par tbh, they gave so many chances to Indians. Pitch is looking okay to bat on tho, from Indian perspective i hope they bat under overcast condition.  Grin

Anyway, congratulations to Jasprit Bumrah. This is the first time that he contributed with the bat in such a crucial occasion. And the lack of batting skill was one of the main accusations made against him recently.
You cannot expect Jasprit Bumrah to be a batsman and he went after the bowlers and scored some runs and it was crucial for India but you cannot expect him to throw the bat every time he goes out to bat and score runs, he is a typical tail end player who throws his bat around and in today's cricket everyone knows to hang around and score a few runs unlike players in the past.

Couple of days left for the match and if the weather is clear we will see a result if not it will end up in a draw and it all depends how England is batting in the first session, if they loose wickets then it will be a matter of time India wraps up the match.

Depends on how much play is possible for the remaining two days. If it's 30 overs each (total of 60 overs), then I don't think that there is any chance of getting a result from this match. England is trailing by 70 runs, and that means that India needs to bat again unless by some miracle they are able to take 10 wickets for less than 70 runs. Anyway, congratulations to Jasprit Bumrah. I don't think India lost the advantage since the lead is more than enough thanks to the in-form Indian bowling lineup. Bumrah is back in form with the bat and ball which is one of the primary reasons why I feel that India are in a better position currently.

The match will probably end as a draw if there is frequent rain interference though. Let's see what happens.

What the heck is wrong with Ollie Robinson? He successfully made his comeback by taking 5 wickets in this match, but still managed to make himself look like an idiot by rubbing shoulders with KL Rahul.

He should have learned his lesson after his recent fiasco and should have acted more professionally in my opinion. Disappointing stuff.

This can be considered as an unexpected occurrence. This can happen on the playground. Many Indian players do that. Especially Virat Kohli is famous for gesturing like a monkey. New Zealand's media compared Kohli to a monkey. Besides, I remember Dhoni pushed Mustafiz once later. These are the unexpected cases. There is nothing to worry about.

Indian team is now lead by 49 runs. India lost 7 wickets. Jadeja and Mohammad Shami are in the crease now. Jadeja is an experienced batsman and he has already collected 56 runs. If India takes a 100-run lead, the match will be more difficult for England. If Jadeja is at the crease, India will be able to take a 100-run lead easily.

Edit : Jadeja(56) is out. Robinson has taken this important wicket.

Overall, good performance from India, but England came back strongly before the rain interruption occurred. Rain is going to be a concern at Nottingham, since for the remaining 4 days precipitation is predicted. Two days have been completed till now and after factoring in the interruption, I expect no more than 90-120 overs of play possible. And it is not enough to pick the remaining 26 wickets with this much time. And if the weather doesn't improve, in all probability, this match will end up as a draw.
We are frustrated to see how rain interrupts Indian batting when they were performing well. As this is cricket in England and the weather cannot be guaranteed, no guarantee can be made for tomorrow. Here, the fact is English conditions from one of the best bowling attack. England's batting has been destroyed by Indian bowling, now it is the turn of English bowlers. I predict a draw since it's raining and the batsmen will have a tough time.

Indian bowlers did their job and that is why they were able to restrict the English team. Bhumrah, Shami, Thakur and Shiraz all bowled very well. Now the Indian batsmen need to stay on the wicket and score. It's although a 5 test match series therefore plenty of game is left.
No doubt India bowlers did their job and now it is how their batsman will perform and looking at the way in which the pitch was behaving you need to bat for a longer time to get settled and none of the England batsman was able to do that and for India apart from the opening pair they lost wickets and if the match was not interrupted by rain i expect England bowlers could pick more wickets...

England lower order just collapsed. When Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root were at the crease, they were at 138/3. They lost the remaining 7 wickets for just 45 runs. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami were exceptional and this is why I always prefer to include the best bowlers in the playing XI irrespective of their batting skills. Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur are capable of adding 10-20 runs while batting, but they were not in good form yesterday (together conceded 89 runs, and picked up just 3 wickets).
The same could happen with India, Virat Kohli getting out for a golden duck will be the highlight of the series, he is consistent but when he gets out he will get out without scoring any runs and i would like to see his stats on how many matches he got out for a duck.

I feel that England are gaining the upper hand here as they have dismissed 4 Indian batman quickly and which includes getting the Indian captain out for a duck. Furthermore if they get more wickets then it’ll be advantage for them, and then all they’ll need to do is put out a decent total and put the pressure back on India and in the process earn a well deserved victory.

I think the result of this match will be a draw. India lost 4 wickets to collect 125 runs. The match is now delayed due to rain. Kl Rahul scored 57 runs. If England can pick up this wicket quickly, then maybe India will not be able to collect too many runs. Rain will assist the England team to draw the match.
183/10, this is probably the most lowest innings of England yet bowlers have thought other thing. Virat Kohli has gone by Jimmy without batting. A wonderful start totally wasted due to the rain, where really lovely start of England. India could comfortably win this Test Match but weather have different plan.

I would still say that India is having the advantage at this point. They still have 6 wickets in hand, and are trailing by just 58 runs. On top of that, we need to remember that the Indian lower order is really strong, with the inclusion of Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur. But it needs to be seen how the Indian players handle the combination of James Anderson/Stuart Broad, who have a total of 1,140 test wickets between them (without any doubt the most experienced pace bowling pair ever to play test cricket, since the first test match was played in 1877).

What is happening here, England all out for 183 runs which i did not expect and India saved the day without loosing a wicket. Full credits goes to Mohammed Shami and when they have a opening bowling partnership with Jasprit Bumrah they become one of the best opening bowlers in cricket and Mohammed Shami looks really fit and bowling like a champion and the match depends upon how the Indian batsman performs.

Very poor batting. 4 batsmen returned to the dressing room with zero runs. England would have lost all their wickets before 150 if Joe Root had not scored the crucial 64-run innings. For a good performance against a strong team like India, the top-order batsmen must perform well. Now if England's bowlers can't do something extraordinary then England will lose this match by a huge margin.
