Bangladeshi bowler wasn't able to create any pressure there. Now we can expect nothing than a draw of this test match.
So the demon was in the pitch that is helping the batsman, Sri Lanka created a pitch so that they do not get humiliated and now it is a run fest as both the teams can score easily, i thought the pitch would turn in the final two days but i did not see any difference and Dimuth Karunaratne scored his first double century and Dhananjaya de Silva is playing the supporting role and i do not see them declaring the innings unless they have over 300 runs lead.
End of day 4 Sri Lanka have scored 512 runs losing three wickets. Now they're trial by just 29 runs. With the play from Karunaratne and De Silva I expect a triple century and double century on the fifth day of the match. Because, they're in good form and playing real test match. They're not taking chances, only making use of the balls that can get them scores. Bangladesh could've made some plans from their bowling side after scoring the big score.

Bangladesh team does not have an experienced captain, they do not have a very experienced bowler. They did not declare the innings in time. Had there been an experienced captain, they would not have made such a wrong decision. Now they are paying for the mistake. Sri Lanka has scored 314 runs and lost just 3 wickets. It is easy to guess that the match will be a draw.
Bangladeshi bowlers are good enough to take the wickets but the pitch isn't favourable to bowlers. Day 4 has ended now. Sri Lanka hasn't lost any wickets today. Both batsman played very well. Bowler had nothing to do in this kind of pitch but they could create pressure by giving a lot of dot balls. Bangladeshi bowler wasn't able to create any pressure there. Now we can expect nothing than a draw of this test match.

Yes, this match is going to be a draw. Sri Lanka have lost three wickets by the end of day 3 and trail by 312 runs. In the remaining two days there is more chance for wickets as the pitch changes after few days of play. Even after that it is quite impossible to get a result. This will make the second match more fighting, because winner takes the series.

Bangladesh made the mistake of batting slowly in the second day. Mushfiqur Rahim in particular wasted a lot of balls, and he eventually made 68 from 156 balls. This is what happens when individual players put their records ahead of the team. Had they scored around 550-600, then it would have been possible to force Sri Lanka to follow on. But that looks unlikely now, since the lead is only 312 now. Sri Lanka should easily avoid follow on, if there is no batting collapse today.
They missed the trick, its entirely possible that they just didn't want to lose the test and wanted to secure their position first and that's where they made a mistake of not declaring their first inning early, 475+ runs were enough to keep them in the game and make thing interesting but they went to bat one more session.

In recent time I don't remember which team forced a follow on.

The way in which the top order performed surprised me after loosing one of the opener for a duck they took the match away from Sri Lanka and the rest of the players performed big and without the presence of Shakib and Mustafizur they might struggle taking 20 wickets as some mentioned earlier. Will see how the match goes and Sri Lanka will be happy with a draw from this situation.

Draw would be great for Sri Lanka, but I really doubt whether they'll be able to do it. Right now Bangladesh is at a very comfortable position, at 474/4. They should be able to reach somewhere around 550-600 before the end of first session today, which means that Sri Lanka needs to score 350-400 to start with, in order to avoid follow on. But here the catch is that Bangladesh is missing some of the most experienced bowlers. So can they limit Sri Lanka to less than 350-400 in the first innings? And if they are able to do that, should they ask Sri Lanka to follow on?
I think the match will be a draw. Bangladesh declared the innings after scoring 541 runs. Good enough batting. But the Bangladesh squad has very few experienced and skilled bowlers. So I think the Test match will be a draw. Sri Lanka has already scored 141 runs for the loss of just one wicket.

If they had Shakib Al Hasan in their squad then i would give them a fighting chance to win the match as he is a wicket taking spinner but the problem is that Shakib Al Hasan did not perform that well in the IPL and what happens if he looses his place in the playing eleven, it would be devastating as he could have played a much better role for the national team and the fans would hate him Grin.

If they continue with the current rate, then they will end up at 550-560. Ideally, they should be looking at 600 plus. All that said, quite an impressive performance from Bangladesh considering the fact that star players such as Shakib and Mustafizur are not part of the team due to IPL commitments.

Bangladesh should declare now and let Srilanka bat early in the morning as weather forcast is not encouraging for last 2 days and they have enough runs on the board, additionally i have a doubt if Bengal tigers could take 20 wickets back 2 back when forcing follow on.
Team Bangladesh should bat one more session of tomorrow. And they need to add minimum 100 more runs before giving the declaration of their first innings. It will keep them ahead if the pitch become favourable for bowler from tomorrow. Everything will depend on Bangladeshi bowler though, I believe they have the ability to take the wickets. I'm expecting good bowling figure from Mehidy Hasan, Taijul Islam and Taskin Ahmed.

I totally agree with you. If they bat the next day on this pitch I am sure they will face a batting disaster. I think it would be wise for them to declare the innings by batting until they lose 2 wickets the next day. The condition of the pitch now is that if the bowlers can bowl well, they can pick up wickets quickly.

^^^ Their scoring rate seems to have accelerated after Liton Das came to bat. They have crossed 450, and may be looking to add another 100-150 runs. That would mean that the declaration won't come before the end of the day's play (because only 31 overs are remaining). If they continue with the current rate, then they will end up at 550-560. Ideally, they should be looking at 600 plus. I don't know what the Bangladesh batsmen are thinking. So far in this session, they have scored just 45 runs in 18 overs (which amounts to just 2.5 runs per over). They have 8 wickets in hand, and I would have expected them to score quickly and declare before the start if third session. Seems like the Bangladesh captain would like to bat for entire day today. For Sri Lanka, no quick wickets in the opening session. The morale seems to be very low.
Bangladesh wants to bat the entire day and score above 600 runs so that they do not need to come back to bat again and the last two days the pitch might help the spinners and they have plenty of spinners in their team and they will miss Shakib Al Hasan but i think they have the spinners to compensate that.

When England dominated Sri Lanka in their turf i thought it was because England are a strong team but the same is happening with Bangladesh as their batsman are dominating the first two days and Sri Lanka might struggle when the pitch deteriorates.

Is anyone watching the Test match of Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka live? I just looked at the scoreboard. Bangladesh team is playing very well. After the end of 70 overs. Bangladesh lost only 2 wickets and scored 245 runs. Bangladesh lost their first wicket on 8 runs. 245 runs is a big collection for Bangladesh. After the disaster in the previous series, it seems that Bangladesh will play well in this series.

I was not aware of this test match, most of us are busy with IPL. Good to hear Bangladesh has scored 245 after losing only 2 wickets. I just checked the scoreboard and found that Najmul Hossain Shanto has scored 145 runs and is still on the pitch. Good chance for him to score double hundred in this test.

@Swordsoffreedom I feel that Bangladesh player’s have learnt their lessons , and that’s why they batted very well in yesterday’s play. Also I doubt that we’ll see a collapse today, and in fact I feel that we can see them score more than 600 runs and pile up huge pressure on Srilankan player’s.

The partnership between Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mominul Haque has added 150 runs till now. 500-550 looks possible, but nothing can be guaranteed if the Sri Lankans manage to pick up some early wickets. Anyway, this is an amazing performance from the Bangladesh team, playing abroad. Ever since they got the test status, they have won just 14 out of the 121 test matches played by them. Hope that things will change for the better from now.

At the end of the first day, Bangladesh collected 302 runs and they lost 2 wickets. I think if the Bangladesh team can start the next day well, they will be able to collect more than 500 runs. Mushfiq, Liton and Miraz are all very good batsmen. I think they will be able to play the whole next day and declare the innings after collecting 550+ runs.

If they bat sensibly, then it may be possible to add another 250 runs in 60 overs. So they can declare by tea, and then have 30 overs to bowl tomorrow. But given the inconsistent nature of the Bangladesh team, I would restrain from giving any overly optimistic scenarios. Ideally they should reach 500-550 before the declaration tomorrow. The Lankan bowlers looks demoralized.. but still they can come back in to the game if they are able to take a few quick wickets tomorrow.
