West Indies need 286 more runs to win the match and they are playing better than they played in the first innings, i was thinking why Pakistan was delaying the declaration but now when Pakistan failed to pick early wickets i can understand why they took the lead over to 329 runs before making the declaration and i still think Pakistan could win the match if there is no further rain interruption.

What's happening to Pakistani Batting ? Someone tell them its not a T20 but a Test Match. They are scoring at the rate of 7 runs per over. Make 50-60 more runs and declare n go for a kill.

They mean business here. If rain does not interrupt, i can smell Pakistan Victory  Wink
Pakistan is looking for victory here, they are scoring the runs quickly so that they will get plenty of time to bowl West Indies out a second time and win the match. They should get the inspiration from India and learn how they won from an impossible situation to dominating the match in the final two sessions and if Pakistan can get the entire day tomorrow they could bowl out West Indies.

West Indies is adamant that they want to see results in this  match and now they are trailing by 179 runs and they lost 8 wickets for 123 runs and even though they might not follow on, i want Pakistan to come out and bat for an hour or two and put West Indies back to bat and we might see the result and another thrilling encounter between the two teams  Cheesy.

Mohammad Abbas and Shaheen Shah Afridi bowled really well and if they could continue like this in the second innings Pakistan will win the match.

LOL.. you seems to be still hopeful of a result. Maybe it is theoretically possible. Some 150 overs remain (I really doubt whether we will get that many, due to rain interruptions). So if they can get West Indies all out within the next 10 overs, then hopefully they will be leading by 150-160 runs. They can bat for another 30-35 overs and make 150 runs, and that would set the target at 300-320. So in the 4th innings, West Indies need to chase 300 plus target in 100 plus overs. But any further rain interruption will disrupt these calculations.
West Indies have ended the first innings scoring 150 runs and Pakistan have scored 70 runs losing a wicket. This keeps Pakistan lead by 222 runs. Somehow Pakistan will plan to set a target of atleast 400 runs as the first session of the day is going on. For all expecting a result from this match, it looks like the match of Pakistan.

So in the end the delay proved beneficial for the West Indies. Pakistan should be happy that they managed to put up a total in excess of 300. And the bowlers also gave them something to cheer for, as West Indies is now reduced to 39/3. Just two days remain in this test match and the only possibility of a result would arise in case West Indies is forced to follow on. And for that Pakistan needs to bowl them out for less than 102 runs. That is not very realistic and in all probability West Indies will win the series.
Windies team has scored 150 runs in their first innings. They were able to avoid the follow-on but they aren't out from danger yet. Pakistan is playing their second innings like a T20 match. Maybe their intention is to score quickly and set a not chasable target for West Indies team. Pakistan may declare their second innings early. Windies batsman should play with proper responsibility in their second innings otherwise they will loss the game.

Only two days remain and rain interruption is predicted for the next two days as well. On top of that, the ground is very poorly constructed and it doesn't allow play even when there is no rain, as the water is retained for some more time.
West Indies board is not spending money to purchase water absorbents and people are doing it manually and that takes a day to dry the ground. If they had spent money on that they could have played in the second day and if there is further rain in this match both the teams should go to the hotel and start preparing for the next match.

I am also not expecting a result but lets see if there is any further surprises in stores  Grin.

This is really matter of shame for West Indies Cricket Board they are gaining some good profit but not spending amount for better technology and better things, in near future they have to think about this because now it's time for better results and fast actions. Right now situation is favouring draw but If Pakistani bowlers able to have some quick wickets in first session then we can expect some result from this match which already lost 4 sessions just because of weather and poor facilities from West Indies Cricket Board.

Edit: Alzarri Joseph gone now West Indies is 45/4 just third over off the day.

West Indies have managed to made 80/4 now so this means that there will be no follow on.  Both Nkrumah Bonner and Jermaine Blackwood are playing well and slowly this matched is headed towards no result.
As far as for the WI board is concerned, i am not sure ICC fund them enough like they fund other boards to maintain the stadiums etc.

Too early to think of this match draw and Pakistan loses the series. I think Pakistan have taken quick 3 wickets and are in a very good condition to make a match out of it. But we do not need a single delay because of the rain. If there is another spell of rain, then i am afraid the match will result in a draw. West Indies will be happy if the rain spoils the match and they will win the series ON THE PAPER.

For a win, Pakistan need to force West Indies to follow on. But that is not realistic, as West Indies just need 103 runs to avoid that. Pakistan needs a miracle to win this match and thereby level the series. And actually there is a small chance of that happening, since they are very unpredictable.

Luckily the match has started on time today and weather looks good too.  Pakistan needs to get early wickets now and hope to get them out till tea. Forcing a follow-on will be ideal for them but at the moment it seems impossible. Being a Pakistani myself, i have hope some miracle happen but generally speaking we are heading for a draw.

The condition WICB is in, I really don't expect that they will care about these petty issues, even ICC knows the condition of WICB, so they won't issue any warnings to them and the way how new countries aren't interested in cricket I am sure ICC don't want to remove another test playing nation from the list. A warning obviously must be there for formality but I don't think it'll change a lot of things.

By the way, after the session is wasted I think Pakistan lost their momentum completely and the result of that is in front of us after the collapse of top order even the lower order collapsed quickly, Fawad Alam is batting like a one-man army. But let's see how far can he take the team.

Fawad Alam is the batsman that is playing well for Pakistan in recent times along with Babar Azam and glad that he is getting the opportunity and showcase his talent at 35 years of age. I thought he would be a regular in the team when he first joined the team and scored a century in debut but that did not happen and late in his career he got the opportunity and now making use of his lost years.
If Fawad Alam was that talented and scored a century in debut why was he dropped, was it because of inconsistency in his performance. It is not like Pakistan team is having a huge bench strength of talented batsman waiting for a chance to play and why was he kept out. I searched online but could not find why he was dropped for 10 years.

Only during the WTC the ICC wanted a reserve day but during regular series i doubt that the team will allow a reserve day because the tour date will last longer.
Yes now a days there is not much rest for the players as the schedules are tightly packed and none of the cricket board will approve for a reserve day as they are after money and they do not care if there are results or not, all they want is more series to be played which means more money to be earned.

Only 1.2 overs were bowled and the game was stopped then. The filed wasn't suitable for playing. The first session of day 3 is wasted. The match is continued now, but we shouldn't expect anything else than a draw from this point. And I agree with you. A reserve day will be helpful in these cases. ICC should implement the reserve day for each test game like they used it in WTC final match. It was effective too.

There is no need for a reserve day. The delay here was not caused as a result of rain. The delay was resulted from the inability of the ground staff to keep the ground properly covered. And this has occurred on a regular basis in the West Indies, although it is almost unheard in any other country. The ICC should take note of this and issue a warning to the WICB. I feel bad for the Pakistani batsmen, as they were in a good position. If play gets delayed further, then in all probability this test will end in a draw.

This is the third day and West Indies is yet to bat and who knows how they are going to perform, Pakistan have Fawad Alam in the crease and he is one short of his century and a well deserved century but he is batting with the tail and how long he can bat with the tail exposed, i am expecting Pakistan to make around 300 runs and West Indies batsman determines how the match ends  Grin .

While it's sunny in Kingston today, the ground is still not ready. As the ground hasn't been fully prepared, there will be a slight delay before we start 3rd day. As we have limited time, Pakistan needs to bat aggressively and score more runs. I hope the ground will be cleared quickly. A reserve day is needed for test matches.
