@suchmoon. Agreed. Washington Natives might be a better team name hehehe. They keep the team’s identity and also avoid to be offensive.

In any case, I liked the team name when they were calling themselves the Redskins. However, is that term redskin really offensive, almost similar to calling African American people a n?

Not for me to judge what's offensive to someone else, but I always found the Native American themed team names weird to the point of cringy among other teams named after animals or abstract concepts. Never sure if the idea was to imply that "Indian" is a type of animal or a made up thing.

Keeping with the animal theme, Kansas City Cocks should be the next NFL name change.

Would the Cleveland Indians also need to change their team name?

https://www.mlb.com/news/cleveland-indians-change-name-to-guardians

Another baseball team that might change their team name is the Atlanta Braves if they are forcing teams to remove the native American theme. There are some generic words of objects in the native American culture that are considered racist. It appears using the word wigwam is racist for many people. Martin Scorsese removed the word in The Wolf of Wall Street movie to call one character’s hairstyle. Wigwam’s usage was funny in the book.

The skeptical me thinks that there are some people who want to manipulate language to manipulate our thoughts. Has anyone read 1984?

In any case, we are offtopic. What are your NFL superbowl predictions? I saw an article about halftime propbets hehehehe. I am shaking my head.

Doomed to see the future and unable to prevent it
Not sure who I want for the Super Bowl this year.  I haven't really followed either team so I'm pretty ignorant, but the Rams were making a whole lot of mistakes in their last game, which leads me to lean towards the Bengals.  Might have to do some research so I can get some skin in the game and give me a reason other than commercials to sit though the Super Bowl this year...

Bengals have really won me over this year.

I think losing W00ds was a huge hit for the Rams and it will show in the big game.

Chase, Higgins and Boyd are a solid WR corp.

My money is on whichever D steps up to the plate.

I saw a chart yesterday on Twitter (can't find it now) showing different quarterbacks and their playoff wins.  I'd never seen such an amazing example of how dominant Brady was throughout his career.  The only guys that seemingly came close to him were John Elway and Joe Montana.  Even they were only about 1/2 as impressive as Brady.  It's like when you see certain stats of Jordan and he's so far ahead of everyone else, it sort of clicks why he's considered the GOAT.

It is simple evolution, now that the QB cannot be hit that hard and even legal hits can be from time to time become penalties then a new QB which exploits those new rules had to appear, this is why this why despite the impressive movements that we see them do I have never been as impressed as I am with Tarkenton and Staubach which moved like that in an era in which the defense was allowed to hit the QB really hard.

Yeah, the days of watching a guy limp around on 2 multi surgery knees is a thing of the past!

Watching QBs like those and Grogan and Namath when I was a kid hobbling around is what I remember were real men that were battling with everything they had.

I swear I could not believe the hits play after play grogan got up from!

That poor guy never had a second let alone the weekend passes these guys get today.

It's true that there seems to be a ton more talent out there these days but I'm not sure its not because the defense is not allowed to touch the QB.

Added: I guess thats why they are now calling running qb's the nfl cheat code.

Great example is Saints QB Taysom Hill who can't throw a pass to save his life but still manages to win games.

I liked "Football Team" better. "Commanders" being losers will be cringy.
It requires real talent to find a more generic name than 'Football Team', but they succeeded.

Who came up with this name for a team?
As we all know... There can only be one... commander in a squadron.

That's the one thing that makes me feel a little less sad about the retiring of Brady, Big Ben, Eli, Rivers etc.  The new age guys like Mahomes, Burrow, Watson ( despite being a scumbag ), Herbert, Allen and even guys like Tua and Hurts ( and god willing Fields ) are all very exciting and those first five guys I listed off all have future HOF type talent.  so the game is being left in good hands, no question about that.

lol and yeah the QB's are getting closer and closer to be untouchable, literally  Cheesy.  Hey I don't mind it, I love seeing games with 6-700 plus yards in the air combined.  Defense just isn't as fun to see!

Let's make it like this:

... for QB's only, and when their flags are pulled they're "dead" - can't play until the end of the game. That should spice things up.

Personally I find it amusing, the guy was as dominant as he could be and yet he lost against Peyton Manning little brother and the Eagles Backup QB at the SB.

To be fair Foles never got the recognition he deserves and was fuked since the day he was drafted due to it being Ryan of the goddamn jets.

When Foles played for the Eagles he tied Peytons record 7 touchdowns in one game in 3 quarters the week after manning did it and was pulled in the 4th so he didn't break it!

Peyton was coddled bye the nfl his entire career due to his daddy's fame.

Foles was a natural talent that never got into a decent organization.

Nevertheless, I'm pretty excited for Superbowl LVI: Cincinnati Bengals vs. Los Angeles Rams. Doesn't that sound great? Even though probably nobody expected this matchup to happen.
It will be an interesting SB no matter how we look at it, both teams have completely different philosophies, the Rams are a win now team, they have mortgaged their future so they could win a SB by trading their first round picks for veteran players which they need to pay now, while the Bengals are a young team with potential to be a contender for years, so lets see which philosophy wins out at the end.

I just saw his tweet, I guess that's all she wrote.  What an amazing, historic career, I'm glad I was around to witness it.
Brady’s reign of terror historical career is finally over, without a doubt as long as football is played he is going to be a point of reference for the sport, he is that important, however now I wonder will the HOF really make him wait for 5 years to get inducted? They need to make an exception and get him on the hall immediately.

Reign of terror lol.  For everyone except the nfc east! Lol.  Go figure crappies division by a long shot.  He beat so many good teams and lost multiple times to the giants and the eagles.  In all honesty I don't know if we will see someone so dominant in that position again in lifetime.  With rules favoring offense and protecting the qb it might be easier but his grip on the position and competitiveness were/are amazing.  Glad to see him go though lol.

That was something that I was wondering myself, if we’ll ever see another Brady. If there is anyone who could match his ridiculous career obviously that’s going to be Patrick Mahomes. Not sure if he can reach 7 super bowl wins though. Brady had more Super Bowls than any franchise, that’s just crazy lol

Yeah I mean records are meant to be broken so I guess we will.  Seems we are going to run into a qb heavy decade with some good young qbs.  The problem is team consistency and health which gets a lot of players especially in football.  The good thing they have going for them is in 5 years there will only be a 3 inch window that you can actually hit the qbs in.  Maybe they will be wearing the red jerseys on GameDay and we get an average of 500 yards a game passing lol.

It is going to be almost impossible that we will see someone as accomplished as Brady, even Mahomes with all his ability and his performances at the playoffs is already two SBs behind Brady, and if Mahomes wants to challenge Brady as the best he will have to overcome the argument that in direct confrontations Brady is 3-2 against him with two of those victories at the playoffs.

I think that in the future some will try to give Brady the Bill Russell treatment, they will claim he was one of the greats and he is the most accomplished player ever but not the best, however this is going to be difficult to sell as Brady did what he did with the free agency, the salary cap and a bunch of 5’10 nameless receivers.

It appears those articles that were published about Tom Brady’s retirement were fake news hehe. However, the skeptical me thinks that there might be something being planned behind this. Does Brady want to leave Tampa Bay and force a trade somewhere with warmer weather for his last season? Is he not from the Bay Area hehehehe?

My speculation, Jimmy Garoppolo will be traded to Tampa Bay, Tom Brady will go to San Francisco. NFL experts, is this out of the question?

A report broke Saturday suggesting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback would retire from the NFL after 22 seasons. That report was refuted by Brady's father, and questioned by members of the Bucs' front office, who said Brady did not speak to them about his decision.

Brady's agent, Don Yee, did not refute the report, but said Brady would be the one to announce his plans.

Source https://sports.yahoo.com/tom-brady-breaks-silence-on-retirement-rumors-im-still-going-through-the-process-003825766.html

That's not happening.  It's more than just moving his family.  It will he a brand new coach, brand new coordinators, plays, players, etc.  Tampa is a perfect situation for him.  If he continues to play it will be in Tampa.  I'm sure every team that doesn't have one of the top 5 qbs on their te right now are hoping TB wants to go to their team,  more than welcome to play a season on the giants.  Smiley

Yeah I do not get all of these conspiracy theories about Brady going somewhere else. Why on earth would you leave warm weather Tampa and the greatest receiving core ever assembled (though no longer having AB may make this debatable now).

That said Tom just announced on his instagram that he is officially retiring. So sad to see the legend go, but what a career he gave us!

This is because conspiracy theories and speculations about where Tom Brady might be going during the off season would have been quite amusing hehehe. There will also be nothing to do for 6 months after the superbowl.

In any case, are there conspiracy theories and speculations on where Aaron Rodgers might be going? It appears the Denver Broncos is always mentioned in news articles last year during off season and this year again.

Perhaps the most important task for new Denver Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett is finding a quarterback for a team that has struggled at the position since Peyton Manning retired after the 2015 season's Super Bowl.

Does Hackett know any good ones? Like maybe a veteran coming off a likely MVP season who has left open the possibility of starting anew and avoiding a potential rebuild with his salary cap-addled current team?

Hackett, of course, is coming from the Green Bay Packers, where he was the offensive coordinator the past three seasons.

It’s why this hire isn’t just a hire, but throws the Broncos into the mix for Aaron Rodgers, or at least speculation about Rodgers.

It'll be a good game, I'm sure.  I predict a high-scoring game; neither team has a dominant defense, but both offenses have that Big-Play potential.  Obviously I'm disappointed that the Niners didn't make it, but they did make it much further than I dreamed they would.  After they started out 2-4, they went 8-3 for the rest of the season.  Not a bad finish, and definitely speaks to our prospects next year.

Seriously though, I don't see what he has left to prove that would be worth the risk of injury and/or humiliation in a possibly no-so-great team.

That's what I would be concerned about.  His health comes off as a double edged sword right now, i.e. he's healthy enough to play, but at his age he's one severe injury away from ruining the next 10 years of his life.  Joe Montana stubbornly played though a bad back injury, and was miserable for years as a result.  Playing until your 44 and getting out with your health intact is huge win, even without the 7 rings.

Edit: and he’s officially retired  Cry  the end of an unbelievable era
