I think the Bears will suck this year tbh.  We will certainly be a bit better than the Giants however that is for sure..not that that is saying very much lol.  Outside of Saquon Barkley the Giants are going to be very, very, very BAD lol.

If Cam stays in we will be fighting for the bottom right there with you! Cheesy

Agreed, they might also not reach the playoffs with Mac Jones. However, the trade deadline is on November. If the 49ers should resolve that they make Trey Lance their permanent no.1 quarterback before the deadline, is there a chance that Bill Belichick might try to get Jimmy Garoppolo?

Yeah I am not sure I see the Patriots making the playoffs this year ( just as I didn't last year and even made a few bucks off of my buddy who thought Hoodie would lead them to the playoffs without Brady).  I personally just don't think Belichick is as good of a coach as Tom Brady has made him look for the past two decades. He struggles to draft good offense and does stupid stuff like giving the Falcons a second rounder for mohamed sanu the other year.  I'm not saying he's not great, because he is, I just don't think he's as great as people give him credit for.

Trubisky lighting it up against his former team and Justin Fields nearly getting murdered in the fourth quarter, not a good day for Bears fan. Fields seems to be okay though, but that hit in the head was terrible. 👀

Give me more meaningless preseason games, please!  Grin

Trying to extend my winning streak with Ravens ml + Steelers ml, Harbaugh and Mike Tomlin are guys that care about wins regardless if its preseason or regular season. If BAL wins tonight, it will be their 19th straight, matching Vince Lombardi's Green Bay Packers team from the 1960s, who also had 19.

Try being a Bears fan.  That being said this was preseason and preseason doesn't mean much at all.  One of the biggest mistakes I used to make in Fantasy Football was taking preseason too seriously and judging some players by how well they played, or didn't play during preseason.  That has almost always come back to bite me in the butt.  During yesterdays game my Bears sure did look like shit, but they were also missing a bunch of starting players.  Let me make this very clear, Mitchell Trubisky is TERRIBLE.  The Bears however are going to miss cornerback Kyle Fuller big time, and releasing him was one of the dumbest moves I've ever seen.  I HATE the Bears ownership, and this is just yet another reason why.  I dream that they will sell the team some day to someone whom actually has half a clue what they are doing.

Being a Giants fan I'm rooting for them to lose every game this year sorry chi!  Yeah that hit on fields was a tough one to watch.  Thought the kid was gonna die out there.  And agreed, mitch is terrible.  He is a good backup quarterback.  He will be a professional clipboard holder for 10 years probably.  Not a bad gig if you think about it lol.

Yeah Trubisky sucks.  His problem is his intelligence.  He has all the skills to be a very good QB, but the problem is he is dumber than a box of rocks. And heck no..back-up qb's have the second best job in the world outside of Kickers..no CTE for kickers

I threw a nice chunk on them winning the NFL Least division.  I will bet they hit 9 wins this year.  Their secondary is sick.  Line is a year older and they upped their revving corps.  Danny year 3 which is a make or break year.  I know I'm a Homer chi but 9 wins and the division it is.  And will STILL pick #1 in next year's draft  Grin

9 Wins  Cheesy  The only way that the Giants win 9 games this year is if hell freezes over, and despite climate change messing up our earth pretty badly, I just do not see it.  However you're right the NFC Least is not the best division.  That said, I think the Cowboys and the Washington Football team will both be sizably better than the Giants, well, at least the Cowboys.  I do like the WFT as a bit of a dark horse this year.

I think the best outlet for Fantasy news is Fantasy Pros ( https://www.fantasypros.com/ ).  They've got a great website with tons of good information, they've got a pretty good podcast that I will listen to from time to time and they've also got a Discord group that I will hop in and out of from time to time.  For me personally they are the best resource overall.  Sites like Rotoworld used to be my favorite but they've since fallen off a bit.

I've always like their tools and especially the player comparison and Expert Consensus but I've found their recommendation youtube vids to be on the poor side and not very insightful at all and I'd actually go on to say if you did what they recommend you will have zero chance of winning a competitive league.

I used to love yahoo answers for Fantasy opinions as they were damn spot on and I used to spend alot of time on there giving free advice and lineup recommendations but of course it didn't generate cashflow for Verizon so it got the axe.

Thanks for the reply. Smiley

Grabbed this the other day before placing an ill-fated preseason bet on the Eagles.

It's two days old but largely still relevant I presume. Lotta money coming in to the Bucs and the Rams, which are a bit too low odds for me now.

Had I known the Eagles were starting Flacco, well dammit I shoulda checked. Meanwhile Cam Newton was looking pretty on point for the downs he did play. Can't wait for the real thing.

Mac Jones looks good too.  I wouldn't be too surprised to see Mac get some run if cam sputters for a couple of weeks.  Chiefs is still a good bet at 5/1.  Can't see them not getting to at least the fact championship game.  So long as they are healthy they are going to wreck teams.

If you do not include Mac Jones and Justin Fields, there might only be Trey Lance and Zach Wilson for position battles to watch? I am a newbie hehehe.

News update on Deshaun Watson. It appears the Houston Texans owners might get a thankful Deshaun for letting him play football this season.

In a twist, criminal probe into Deshaun Watson may ensure he’s eligible to play entire 2021 NFL season

What that means for Watson is that his immediate football fate is tied to what happens next in the criminal probes. Should he be indicted by a grand jury in the coming months, he would likely be immediately placed on the exempt list until any charges were taken to some kind of legal conclusion. And if a grand jury were to pass on indicting him, then the NFL would be free to finish its own investigation without worry of poisoning the law enforcement well.

Simply put, the longer Watson’s criminal investigations linger without a conclusion, the longer he will be able to stay on a football field. Possibly for the entirety of 2021.

This is sadly of no surprise.  It seems that if you are a super star in the NFL you can do just about anything and still receive a second chance.  You can also seemingly pretty easily maneuver your way around things in order to be able to play and push court dates off.  This whole thing sickens me.  There are few things that disgust me more than sexual assault and  it's quite clear that is exactly what's going on here.  If you're that rich, and a sports star, then you don't hire that many massage therapists.  The range of how good massage therapists are varies quite a bit, so when you're rich and getting massages is part of your job, then you find a handful, at most, of masseurs and stick with them.  As someone with a bad back whos' had many massages, they certainly were not all equal..not even close.

Definitely a bad day for bears fans, but that hit that Fields endured was awful, it is just one of those plays that make you think NFL players are really built differently as I know that if received a hit like that I will end up at the hospital.

While it is interesting to see records being made this is just like giving any importance about who has the most monopoly money, an interesting stat but useless at the end of the day.

Currently watching the Jets vs Packers game and I was surprised to not see Love starting the game and it seems he has an injury on his right shoulder, I can still watch Wilson but this game was interesting due to the possibility of watching those two QBs and now half of the appeal is gone.

Was a good first game of the week last night when the Patriots played the Eagles.  Well I guess by good game I mean it was fun watching the quarterback battle between Cam and Mac Jones.  Cam looked pretty good but Mac wasn't too bad himself.

Since there are 3 instead of 4 pre-season games this year, this week is the "dress rehearsal" week for teams meaning we will get to see most teams starters at least for a quarter or two.  I am very much looking forward to Justin Fields getting his second NFL game action. Will also be pretty interesting seeing him play vs Mitchell Trubisky lol.

Any position battles any of you are interested in watching this week?

Jimmy G is terrible.
I wouldn't call Garoppolo terrible.  He's 22 and 8 as a starter for the Niners, and that includes two losses that he started but didn't finish due to injury.  Average passer rating as a Niner is 95, which isn't great but far from terrible.  He's actually pretty darn accurate passer, even if he doesn't have a big arm.  His main faults are that he's prone to injuries and he's less mobile than Tom Brady.  For a pocket passing type offense he'd be a great addition.

I shouldn't say terrible, but not good.  He's just a game manager and I've never been a very big fan of his. There's a reason the Niners drafted a QB early in the draft, of course.

Don't mean to be a bummer but we talked it over and decided it's probably just best to keep things as is. Mainly because we are a newb-heavy league, some of whom have been practicing 8-team drafts already. No disrespect meant to ChiBitCTy. Next year we'll definitely do a 10-team league.

@ChiBitCTy, I hope you're not offended, please don't take it personally.  The decision to keep it a small, casual league was discussed from the onset, and that's what attracted me to it in the first place.

It's all good.  I appreciate you guys considering me period. After playing a year of 8 man I'm confident you guys will see why it's much better having a 10-12 man.  But as it sounds many of you are new to Fantasy Football so it'll be a good learning experience for you all.  If anyone does happen to drop out by chance, of course I'd be happy to fill their spot. Best of luck to everyone in the league!

@wheelz1200. The odds on the Houston Texans to win AFC south is 32.70. I might put some campaign money there hehehe. Everyone might be speculating that Deshaun Watson might never play in Houston again, however, would the Texans allow their season to be 0 - 16 with Davis Mills?
