Football is officially back with today's Hall of Fame Game (8 pm ET)! Let's kick off the pre-season, shall we?  Grin

Dak and Big Ben are not playing, and i doubt any of the veterans will play much, if at all, but there are some interesting players to watch, namely both teams' first-round picks, Micah Parsons and Najee Harris. Steelers' rookie running back has a huge upside imo, most fantasy experts have him finish as a top 10 RB at the end of the season but for that to happen Steelers' offensive line has to improve a lot...

To think the Steelers could have five players on the line who are either first time starters, starting with a new team or starting in a new position is incredible. And I don’t mean incredible in a good way.

According to rumors, Deshaun Watson might not be a Texan before the opening of the season. Teams where he might go are the the Eagles, the Broncos and the Raiders. Other rumors say that Justin Fields will be the starting quarterback for the Bears by week 3.

Also this, who will be the Patriots’ quarterback? Is Belichick really choosing Cam Newton for the whole season? Jets to reach playoff is 6.03 hehehe.

I know it doesn't matter, but I always root for the Cowgirls to lose.  Mike McCarthy's sideline presence only makes my love of a Cowboys loss even sweeter.  I love it when he throws his hands out to his side, palms up, mouthing WTF while wearing those colors.  He was the worst offensive coordinator the 49ers ever had, and  I couldn't believe when GB hired him to be there head coach.  At the time I figured they new something I didn't, after all Mike Nolan was our head coach.

In Green Bay he did pretty good job, ironically with the quarterback he and Nolan passed on in the 2005 draft (tell me if you heard this rant before.)

Yeah that's a revamped line.  Wonder how good he is in pass protection.  Most of the time that's why Rookies see or don't see alot of burn.  Most rooks can carry the ball it's protecting the qb that college never really prepares them for.  Excited to get this season rocking and rolling even if it's just preseason!

I like the 8-team league.  It's been several years since I've played FF, and considering how busy I've been lately the smaller league will allow me to remain competitive without having to invest a lot of time.  I agree that more teams can make things more interesting with waivers and trades, I just don't think that's right for me at the moment.  My vote is to keep things the way they are.

I personally don't like anything less than 12 man leagues.  With an 8 team league there's not much competition being that everyone has a stacked team and if anyone's players get hurt then you can easily go pick up a stud off of the waiver wire.  HOWEVER, I know I am an obsessive freak when it comes to fantasy football and spend way too much time on it each and every year.  I play in at least 3 leagues and try to play up to 5...so yes I know most people are not like me in the sense lol.

There are less "studs" in non ppr.

It separates real players from prima donna's.

You know whats funny is that we started that league you speak of as a fun league, hows that working out for you?

LOL you are the only person whom I've ever heard complain about PPR leagues and I've been playing for about 15 years now.  This also has NOTHING to do w/your old league as there is literally one player left over from it (phish).  It's a new league (this will be year 3 ) and it's been going well.  We've had a couple people do a poor job setting their lineups at times but other than that it's a very good league.  It's still fun, we just take it more seriously because it's more fun that way.  Like I told phish when I "took over" the league and made a new one, you're a weirdo.  Good chat though bud  Cheesy

Fantasy Football League Looking for one or two players    If anyone is interested in joining my league, which is now in it's third year, shoot me a direct message.  Here is what our league looked like last year - https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.54983626

Some things to keep in mind.. This is a serious league that we all take very seriously.  If you have an interest in playing you need to make sure that you are serious about playing, will set your lineup each and every week, know what you're doing and know about football to an extent, etc.  We've had some people not live up to these rules in the past and it literally ruins the league. Buy-in will likely be $100 ( paid in bitcoin ) like it has been the past couple years.  Last year due to the rise of bitcoin the payouts were huge.  I think 1st place won several thousand dollars and second place one a thousand.  Any-who, if you're a serious player and interested let me know!

This is a fun league lots of trash talking to go along with a fun season.  And yeah was a good time to win that championship  Grin.  It's definitely better when everyone is engaged.  When people bail on a team because they are so far back it gives teams automatic wins and ruins the season for sure.

(*maybe take the tx fee out of the 2nd place winner's amount... hopefully its not greater than the amount itself by that point).

I had a 0.002 chipmixer chip available so I just sent the whole thing and offered to cover the Tx fees.  Then some anonymous wiseguy sent another 0.4965mBTC, so I think we'll have the Tx fees covered.

Do Fantasy apps remove injured players from the drafts, give warnings on not very healthy players or do they include all players and leave it for the participants to research everything?

Carson Wentz has an injury with his foot and Dak Prescott with his shoulder. The difference between these 2 injuries might be Carson cannot train or move around the field with the team, Prescott can warm up and exercise with the team. On draft day, if they are ready to play for the season, the difference in fitness between the 2 will certainly be different. These are also 2 famous players, there might be similar situations with not very known players that I do not know.

Some do some don't so you need to be up on the injured players.  Don't know how espn deals with injuries during the draft since I never drafted using espn.  The best available player will change though so if you are using that to pick your team it should be fine.  Either way Def want to know who is hurt and who isnt.

It seems to differ year to year and also depends on when they get injured and how injured they are.  I have had drafts where someone got badly injured a few days before our draft and there were no changes made to the players list.  There have been time where they leave the players as high up as they had them before the injury and simply had like a little Red Cross next to their name showing that they are injured.  I have also seen some companies/services bump an injured player way down the list right after they were hurt.  Now this has been my experience since I started playing about 15 years ago or so.  These services tend to get better each year so I would expect they all give you a warning of some sort now when players get hurt.

@wheelz1200. Are we having an 8 man team or 12 man team? Does the app of ESPN let the league creator choose? I reckon this has not yet been formalzlied or agreed upon or I might not have been paying attention or I might have forgotten hehe. I want 8 man teams if we have a vote.

Is this only an 8 team league  Shocked yum.  Will make rounds 4-10 less stressful.
...and yes it is an 8 team league, in fact at the beginning I set it up as a 10 team league but I realized that filling that many spots could be difficult and the ESPN website did not allowed me to reduce the number of teams but it did allow me to increase it, so I thought it was better to start with an 8 team league and if there was demand for it we could increase it if necessary.
As you can see it was a judgment call I made when creating the league, it was an arbitrary decision but I thought that it was better to start small and only increase the number if there was the demand for it as the ESPN website allowed me to increase the number of teams but not to decrease it, we do not have a formal agreement but so far we have more support for the current size to remain that way, after all the discussion about the league has been going on for about 2 months and only the current members of the league have shown any interest, so it is not like we are excluding anyone that desperately wants to participate.

They are referring to the amount of players on each team and I think we started with standard size so we have 8 teams of 8 man teams currently.

1QB
2RB
2WR
1Flex
1Def
1kicker
and what is it 4 bench slots and 1 IR slot?

We could increase if you guys wanted as we are all going to have some seriously stacked teams but I don't mind either way.

Might be cool to try a 2 QB league thought, I've never done that, or maybe add a TE slot (if espn...wait I think my memory is failing me here) Is it a flex or a TE??? shit take one year off I can't remember shit! Cheesy

Oh nevermind I thought you were taking how many teams sorry reading comprehension is lacking this week.😅

It appears I was the one confused because I replied to you assuming you were talking about how many picks by a fantasy player for one team hehe.

@Hueristic. The answer is in ESPN’s fantasy app.

JUST joined this one for fun if ayone wants to doa  mock draft. starts in 3 minutes.

Good thing i did this, I screwed up the que and autodrafted the wrong guy. Smiley

No way!  You aren't getting a look at my sleepers I'm gonna draft 😂

All honesty I need to get into a coue to see some of the movers in the draft this year.  Gotta get my game up got like 3 or 4 drafts coming up.

Its fast and stressful!

There are many guys missing I expect to see and alot of what I thought were great players way down the list and I don't know why. taking last season off FF is really showing in my draft. I got a horrible team!

If nothing else it shows me I'll have to spend a few days brushing up so I don't make a fool of myself. Grin

Yeah those mocks the first one always has a couple surprises in there.  Taking a year off is definitely a shock once you go in 2 years off ff.  Going to be a wierd year with all the covid game day scratches, wonder how that will affect the year both IRL as well as fantasy impacts.  Getting excited as we get into August though, love football season.

Cracked under the pressure!

I all seriousness for some reason I was clicking on the reports on injured guys nut it was pulling up guys I had previously looked at that were already drafted which was really screwing with me when I had a few seconds left. I'm not sure if its the browser of the script blockers causeing it but i will have to fix it before hand,

True... I think you did a good job and everything is good as is. We should try to keep things simple for the newcomers.

Also with 8 teams x 0.0015 = 0.012 BTC, so we can have

0.01 BTC for 1st place
0.002 BTC* for 2nd place

(*maybe take the tx fee out of the 2nd place winner's amount... hopefully its not greater than the amount itself by that point).

Does that sound about reasonable to everyone?

Also I recommend those not too familiar with the way things work to study the information in the Scoring tab of the League Settings. This will help you get an idea of how certain player positions are "worth" more than others. For example, QBs are usually the top-scoring position, followed by WRs and RBs. Then there's a substantial points drop-off for TE, K and DEF positions (not as valuable), generally speaking...

Just something to keep in mind, and why it might not be the best strategy to load up on kickers.

Who knows tho. Maybe for someone that is a winning strategy.

Good thing i did this, I screwed up the que and autodrafted the wrong guy. Smiley
