So this is why Herbert started in for Taylor on Sunday against the Chiefs:

Quote
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Chargers' team doctor accidentally punctured Tyrod Taylor’s lung while trying to administer a pain-killing injection during pregame warmups in Week 2.
https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/29952469/chargers-qb-tyrod-taylor-lung-punctured-team-doc-sources-say

I was surprised to see Herbert play, i don't think anyone expected him to play, and the announcers didn't specify why Tyrod was out before the start of the game.
From what i'm reading Taylor had to go to the hospital later that day to get treatment and is likely out for the near future. If yall remember he was the Browns starting QB in 2018 but had an injury, i think concussion, and that was it for him in Cleveland....tough luck!

Well really what happened is the Saints punished themselves...  Not to mention the penalties

129 penalty yards against the saints, absolutely atrocious.  The Raiders looked good, but I wouldn't count on seeing them playing in late January.  Not yet, at least.  They had 375 total yards; 259 passing, and 116 on the ground.  Those are average numbers, certainly not the kind of numbers one would expect to outscore the Saints by 10.  They also seemed to find themselves in quite a few 3rd and long situations, and many wouldn't have gone anywhere if it weren't for the penalties.  Like you said, the Saints beat themselves, and LV kept the self inflicted damage to a minimum.

The  Raiders defense looked pretty darn good though, they held off the Saints after losing that fumble, and kept the offense off the field most of the game.  There was the one drive in the middle of the fourth quarter when they let Breeze pick his way down the field, but other than that they looked pretty solid.

Its going to be alot of fun watching the Raider this season.

This is the best I've seen them play since I was a kid.
Except for the blatant defensive penalty,
I'm glad the ejected that douche right out of the gate!

I love Brees but I knew something was going to happen, it just looked way too easy for the Saints on Paper.
Raiders having a great Start into this new Season lets see if they can keep it up.
I liked what I saw from Carr, took him a bit to get started but then was spot on!

Oh my god. This is ugly. Football gods must have heard me talking shit and decided to punish the Saints.

Well really what happened is the Saints punished themselves, and Carr picked up steam after the 1st quarter. It genuinely looked like the Saints were going to roll right over the Raiders in the first quarter but their defense has been absolute shit. Not to mention the penalties, Brees' interception, and then those tiny worthless passes -- Raiders have great secondary coverage. They need to just keep giving the ball to Kamara.

@ralle14. I am not very confident. They are not only horrible on their defense in this game, they are also horrible on their offense. They have wasted a Raiders turnover that would have given them their chance.

Edit : Nevermind  Tongue Saints' offense getting so much penalties. There was a bit of hope when the Raiders gave the ball back but still they couldn't get anything going.

Agreed!

I reckon that this interception by the Raiders might begin the defeat of the Saints and their horrible defense.

The Saints are included in one of my parlays. Cry
I also have a bet on the Saints mainly the handicap still confident they'll win here but it might be very close if both teams continues scoring.

What do the Raiders have going on that I don't know about, or else, what are the Saints missing?

It was just some statistical input, since no dog has won thus far this week. Odds are low I agree and that could be the trap Wink I can't really make a point for the Raiders other than that they should be super motivated to play in prime time in their new stadium in a new location. And some experts say they will have a good season (I am not one of those experts Cheesy).

Normally Saints should win this easily and I didn't bet on this game, but will watch a bit.

Raiders are priced 2.89 against the Saints today - anyone ? Wink

Seems too low IMO, with a line of +4 ATM. I woke up too late to place a bet but I think it will be easy for the Saints to beat the Raiders by more than 4. What do the Raiders have going on that I don't know about, or else, what are the Saints missing? Seems like a no brainer.

Saints missing Michael Thomas but that shouldn't matter.

I am terrible at Fantasy Football!!!
I can't believe the Chargers didn't go for it during overtime when they're only a few yards away from another 1st down. I feel like that decision cost them the game since that's the only opportunity they'll get. An upset would've been big since there's a lot of people who backed the Chiefs on their survivor pool this week.  Tongue
This is one of the games I watched fully and I could not believe my eyes either, LAC won the coin toss and they got the ball on OT, on my mind they should have discarded the possibility of kicking the ball to KC since Mahomes would only need a Field Goal to win the game, they should have gone for it but instead they decided to kick the ball away and basically guaranteed they will lose the game.

I have no idea what the Falcons players were thinking/doing with that onside kick. They just waited for the ball to go 10 yards and then gazillions of Cowboys players were already around the ball. They could have picked it up inside 10 yards and game over - seems like they didn't know the rules, pathetic, lol Cheesy
This is a mistake of both the players and the coaches, the players must know the rules about when and where they are allowed to pick the ball and it was obvious they did not knew it, however this is also a clear mistake when it comes to coaching in that play, either the coaches gave the explicit order to not touch the ball until it had travelled 10 yards, in which case they are completely responsible for this debacle and the players are free of blame, or they failed to instruct their players properly about the rules, after all it was obvious that an onside kick was coming and the coaches should have reminded everyone on the unit about the rules to be followed on that instance and it is obvious they did not.

BTW since 1933 in which the league began to keep track of turnovers this is the first time a team has lost when scoring 39 points and not having a turnover, the rest of the teams went 440-0, so this just adds to the legacy of the Falcons of choking whenever they can.

Its this kind of crap that makes games look fixed.

Another one was Pats trying to drive in in the final without Cam audibling (understandable considering he thinks hes stuperman) or Belichick (with a timeout) when the Seagulls were in a goaline stance. How moronic was that? Any fool could see throwing a few receivers out would have allowed an easy goal.

For week2 I still like Seattle very much over the Patriots. Vikings odds look huge @Colts with 2.50 ML. Giants at 3.00 @Bears looks also tempting, but this might just be the fanboy in me.

Some lower ML odds I like (and where the HC looks good then too):

Packers 1.40 vs Lions
Bills 1.45 @Dolphins
49ers 1.35 @Jets
Bucs 1.30 vs Panthers

That Vikings pick was embarrassing Grin The Giants had their chances in the end, but ran out of time at the 15yd line of the Bears. It's no fun watching the Giants, Daniel Jones is just poor and his fumbleritis still isn't cured. Some bad luck with an O-liner from Bears converting a 4th&1 after a deflected pass late in the game, which costed some time. I think I would play that bet again.

This was a week for the favourites. Apart from the Eagles-Rams game, which was ~50/50 priced, all favourites won their games, which is very unusual. You normally have 2-4 upsets, but with the Arlington miracle on top, there were none. Raiders are priced 2.89 against the Saints today - anyone ? Wink

My parlay lost but that comeback by the Cowboys was crazy though.

Highlights won't do it for me, i need to find and watch the whole game, (...)

Herbert did a great job for his debut game in the NFL.

Was impressed with him as well, he didn't look like someone who just plays his first NFL game ever. His throws were a bit off sometimes, but all in all I had a good feeling every time he had the ball in his hands. With some polish and experience, he could be a very good QB in years to come. Wish the Giants picked him in the draft Tongue

Looking at next weeks odds, there is nothing that catches my attention at first glance. Falcons 1.60 against the Bears looks good; maybe not a lot of value, but Bears are still poor despite being 2-0. SNF and MNF will be great with Saints vs Packers and Ravens vs Chiefs Smiley

alot of crazy injuries this week...
49ers got hit pretty hard but that Barkley Injury didnt look good at all!
Barkley was heading for a contract extension, I heard was to get his contract extension before the 2021 season.
Talks of at least $15 million per year.

It was good to see the niners take the win, even if it is as much of a gimme as you're likely to get in the NFL.  Garoppolo looked good, despite hobbling around on that right ankle.  His official prognosis is high ankle sprain, likely to keep sidelined next week against the Giants.  It sounds like Solomon Thomas tore an ACL, which means he's out for the season.  That's not good for the defense.

Watching the Pats at Seattle right now, it's been an entertaining game.  I still can't believe Cam Newton is a Patriot, I still find myself expecting TB12.

Pretty happy with the 2 LA teams this week. Herbert did a great job for his debut game in the NFL. I don't think it was a fluke performance -- he looks like a highly composed and skilled QB. Man, so refreshing to get Rivers out of there TBH, who I never really cared for. He won today pretty big -- I hope the Colts get their $25 million dollar year out of him.

@ralle14. Agreed. There was also another first down that they certainly could have gotten in the 4th quarter. However, the rookie Herbert made a throw near the endzone and was intercepted.

I am happy, however hehe. The Chiefs victory completed my parlay.
