You wake up from a one-day coma and decide to check on your favorite franchise, ah shit, you can't recognize your team's roster anymore. Lol   It's crazy how many moves have taken place in the last 24 hours. It might be the first day since the Super Bowl that i've actually missed football.

Some quick/early thoughts on a few of the signings:

Saquon Barkley to the Eagles. For some reason, i don't like it, i think it is more or less a lateral move. Swift can do almost everything Saquon does but for less money, and Barkley has a history of injuries. Eagles had more pressing issues to address than adding a new RB. For example, their defense, terrible secondary play, and some of the worst tackling i've ever seen...why not fix that?

Christian Wilkins, the Dolphins DT to the Raiders. He and Maxx Crosby on the same dline look scary. I like how the Raiders rallied around their interim head coach to turn things around late in the season. Losing Josh Jacobs is huge, but i suppose you can't have everything.

The Vikings' QB room looks bleak now that Cousins has moved to Atlanta. Darnold, Mullens, Dobbs, and Hall, i mean who do you start? Not ideal for J. Jefferson dynasty managers.

HELL YEAH!!!

The King is on the move. Sources say the #Ravens are expected to land #Titans star RB Derrick Henry. After attempting to trade for him a few times, Baltimore signs him now. 👑
Henry gets a 2-year, $16M deal worth up to $20M with $9M guaranteed.

Not only is that bad for fantasy managers but Jefferson proclaimed that he loved playing with cousins.  Did ypu just piss him off enough to split town when he becomes a free agent.  Minnesota better figure out theor immediate plan forward or they might slide into a complete new rebuilding.  If they are I'd trade jettas for some crazy draft capital right now.  Trading to a fringe contender could net some good draft capital.

I'm starting to wonder at this point whether it makes any sense keeping what many would argue is the best wide receiver in the league (I don't believe this, but he certainly makes my top 3-5).  He's too good to rot away behind some half-ass QB, and as of right now, that's exactly what the Vikings have, half ass QBs.  I do wonder if they have any interest in Justin Fields.  I guess I'm trying to squeeze Fields in somewhere, I expected his market to be much more robust.  I think this lack of market says a lot for Fields and why moving on from him makes sense.  He's just not that good.

Fields might be a good spot for him actually.  Has someone ready made to help him along.  Does jettas want to be with a primarily running qb.  I've seen a lot of recent mocks that have Minnesota trading picks with chargers to jump to the 5 hole and drwft McCarthy.  Makes zero sense to keep JJ if that's the case.  Trade JJ for draft capital if that's the case and draft that boy some protection or beef up the defense.  For me McCarthy is gonna take a hot second to get his feet wet, doesn't seem like his game will transition easy to sundays.

Wow, what a week of free agent signings it's been so far!  I honestly can't remember a week with this much action going on in the "legal tampering" period like there has been this year.  The one thing I'm certainly surprised about as well as not very happy about is the fact that Justin Fields is still a Chicago Bear.  There's a number of factors that go in to play with this, but I was really hoping the Bears could at least snag a 2nd rounder for him.  There's still some time, but that window is shrinking by the day.

The San Francisco 49ers losing their run stopper and captain because they wanted him to take a lower salary is going to hurt them. When you look at the numbers when he was out the Niners run defense was terrible. I get that they want to boost their receiver core, but I don’t think they stand a chance of getting back to the Super Bowl now with their run defense.

As a giants fan this sucks!  Now I have to watch saquon run all over the giants twice a year.  I figured he would go to Philly if they offered, he was a Philly guy.  Can't blame him since the giants refused to give him a long term contract.  In other news the giants signed their long snapper to a new contract, whoo hoo.  Seriously it's important since they will be punting and kicking field goals most of the season Sad

OK well. The dirty has been done. I created a new thread for USFL discussion. Y'all are of course welcome to join in. As a matter of fact, you are not only cordially but also emphatically invited to participate. The season starts on Mar 30th. I decided I'm gonna try to get into it as I don't have but shit to do and it might be fun to try to find out which teams are worth placing bets on, or at least root for.

Weird thing is there isn't even a single team in the entire western half of the country (unless you count Eastern Texas, which has 3 of the 8 teams, and I don't):

Heehhe we should do something similar to this. We should make the bottom placer have an embarassing avatar or personal message for 1 week. I am quite certain we can ask permission from the loser's campaign manager to allow the participant to wear something different for 1 week.

Our new favorite league the UFL will begin on March 31. Is everyone excited?

ESPN’s 21-game slate, including 10 games on ABC, kicks off on Sunday, March 31, featuring an afternoon doubleheader.

However, the season is until June. After this there will only be 2 months for waiting hehehe.

So ya'll hear Caleb williams is going to the bears? Did you all hear the bears are trading justin this week.  Did any of you hear the Bears are being offered 3 first round picks for Caleb?  Did you hear...okay I'm done.  I think you all understand my point here.  Imagine being a bears fan..this is fun and all but also so stressful.  Seriously if they don't draft him then I'm a Bucs fan.  That's my second team having lived in Tampa and gone to many games, and who doesn't love the creamsicle old school unis?!..

I had the Doug Martin creamsicle jersey his rookie year.  Was living in tampa at the time and heard he was gunna be good...anyone remember his I 5 TD game? or was it 4 with 300 yds..something like that.

That would be fun, actually my personal message was inspired by those kind of stories, during the first FF season we had I was the one that came up on last place and as a sort of punishment I put that personal message in place, but I left it there for so long that I have become fond of it and whenever I have the chance I put in my profile once again.

I was thinking that and always found it amusing as your one of the best of us. Smiley

I'm going to watch the UFL or whatever they are calling themselves, but it's just nowhere close to being as exciting as the NFL. Lot's of bad coaching mixed with mediocre players makes for a bad watch IMO. Am I wrong? Did anyone wake up on a Saturday and think to themselves "I have to be home for the xfl game tonight" anytime last season?

I was also confused, however, it appears that the XFL and the USFL has merged and they are calling their new league the UFL which will begin on March 30. Learning about these small leagues might be good to win some money, I reckon hehe. There are NBA bettors who have said that it was easier to win money betting on WNBA.

The XFL and the United States Football League (USFL) will relaunch as the United Football League (UFL) following the merger between the two spring football leagues.

The eight-team competition will kick off its ten-game regular season on 30th March 2024 and be divided into two conferences: USFL and XFL.

The USFL Conference will feature the Birmingham Stallions, Houston Roughnecks, Memphis Showboats, and Michigan Panthers. The XFL Conference will consist of the Arlington Renegades, DC Defenders, San Antonio Brahmas, and St Louis Battlehawks.

Houston was the one overlapping market between the XFL and the USFL and deemed one of the strongest markets for both leagues. As a result, the USFL’s Houston Gamblers have been rebranded as the Houston Roughnecks.

The opening game of the 2024 campaign will see the Stallions face the Renegades, 2023 champions of the USFL and the XFL respectively. Players will report to training camp on 24th February in Arlington, Texas, where the XFL trained last season.

I don’t see myself ever sitting through a UFL game either, but I’m glad athletes have multiple places to earn a living. That being said, there’s plenty of NFL content during the offseason now that so many athletes have podcasts that they’re hosting. You just have to hop on YouTube and get to know your favorite players.

I've no interest in watching the UFL, it's a pass for me.

My plan is simple, chill with the Pats Dynasty documentary until mid-March. Then free agency begins, an underrated period of the year. Make it through to the draft and see who goes where. Somehow survive the next two months Cheesy... and it's July. Quarterback season 2 should air around that time, training camps begin and fantasy season prep.

Your mission Mr. Nutildah if you choose to accept it is to pretend to be Dick Vermeil and watch all of the games and find the next greatest undrafted player for the NFL. A player very much similar to Kurt Warner.

Watch all the college games?? No thanks I'll pass.

I will also give XFL a chance. It appears everyone in this thread will watch it? I hope I will like it and the theory of relativity occurs to make the 6 months of waiting feel it was only 1 month.

Pains me to say it but I suppose probably will as well. I'm gonna be jonesing for more football pretty soon. Although, and I'm pretty sure I mentioned it last season as well, fiending for the XFL after the end of the NFL is the equivalent to being out of weed and having to scrape the resin from the inside of a pipe in order to achieve some kind of dubious high. Its not nearly the same thing as the real deal but if you're desperate enough or have a good enough imagination, it almost is.
I will make an attempt as well to watch the UFL, but for what I can see they are making the same mistake they did last season, one of the things I like about the NFL is that no matter what, I can wake up on a Sunday and I know when there is going to be a game, I may not know who is playing but I can pick the match I like the most and watch it, but the schedule of the UFL is all over the place, it is not as bad as last year but for sure there is room for improvement.

That was a problem with the USFL, xfl never had that issue.

Looks like now that Fox has their claws in it they are pulling their little sabotage attempts again.

If you can't beat then then join them and take them out from within.
