In any case, the draft is scheduled for next Sunday. Has everyone voted on this already? Can we not use the same schedule last year?

I was just gonna ask about this... I forget what the schedule was last year, however.

The times that work best for me are 9 am - 1 pm EST and then 9 pm - 1 am EST.

I could probably work around the edges of those hours as I realize its only a combined 8 hour window.

What games are we watching this week? I might watch Colts/Eagles on Thurs night and then Chargers/9ers on Friday night.

I finished watching all 8 eps of the Quarterback series on Netflix. Overall it was really good and a refresher of what happened last season. Poor Marcus Mariota. Its gotta be really difficult to climb so far and give it your all and then end up as a backup QB. At least it is for a team that was in the Super Bowl last year. And at least he got paid bank... He's pretty much one of Hawaii's biggest heroes. Next to Bruno Mars, The Rock, and Tom Selleck, lol.

News update.

Jonathan Taylor went from no.1 in my cheatsheet last year to presently only no.30 for our next fantasy draft hehe. It also appears his relationship with his team is not very good, besides his injury. The Colts has give him permission to find a team who is willing to trade.

The Indianapolis Colts have given Taylor until Tuesday to find a suitable trade after authorizing the star running back earlier this week to engage with other teams in search of a trade partner.

Six teams have inquired about Taylor's availability, and two of them have engaged the Colts with offers, a source told ESPN on Wednesday.

Lol, wrong thread, try this ghost: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/north-american-soccer-discussion-thread-concacaf-mls-liga-mx-cfu-5229970

This thread is about real football, manly football, not soccer.  Tongue

Could have been worse. At least he was in the same ballpark. Better than when I posted something completely off topic a few months back lol.  I can't remember what it was, but it was kinda funny lol ( I think we both blamed in on alcohol  Cheesy )

On Justin Fields, do not underestimate him, according to my gameboys he is 6th in the top rankings for quarterbacks and Justin Herbert on 7th.

It also appears the we need to update our cheatsheets. Dalvin Cook was traded to the Jets and Zeke Elliott was traded to the Patriots. How does this impact Breece Hall and Rhamondre Stevenson? This might move them down the rankings, I reckon.
I will have to check more closely what is happening around Fields, I had plans to draft him since last year the guy literally saved my ass just when I needed it the most and basically won me two straight games almost single-handedly, but if he does not have anything to work around him then he may depend once again on his legs to make things happen and this could risk him to injury.

I am not going to share my thoughts on Dalvin Cook going to the Jets and Zeke going to the Patriots until after that draft  Tongue ..this would be giving away strategy (not that anyone necessarily gives two shits what my strategies are lol).

As for Fields...here's the thing, as a die hard Bears fan I'm excited as all hell when it comes to his potential and upside..but...he's yet to prove he can be a legitimate pocket passer, and I'm scared that might still end up being the case.  He's got a great receiving core (DJ Moore, Mooney, Claypool..though he is hurt atm...and TE Kemet has big time upside).  He's also got an upgraded offensive line.  There won't be any excuses he can make after this year is what I'm getting at.  Also a solid backfield.

Why are the people in this thread very strict? You are acting like toxic maximalists hehehehehee.

Its just my instinctual reaction for any drive-by shitposter. Quite happy this thread is moderated.

This guy in particular didn't even take the time to differentiate the type of game being played that we're discussing in this thread. He could have looked at the shape of the ball icon in the title for clues but didn't have time cause he's too busy shitposting from several different accounts.

Worst of all, I know he copies news articles written in a foreign language and then translates them to English, but for the life of me I can't figure out what language it is.

On Justin Fields, he might become a top 10 quarterback and he might also be ranked higher than Justin Herbert by the end of this season. Do not shake your heads, this will happen.

I dunno about that... what does Fields have to work with? Not much...

I was not being serious hehehe.

You guys been watching the pre-season at all?  I've been trying to catch some of the beginning of games where we see the starters. Obviously most are playing very little right now.  Justin Fields and my Bears looked pretty interesting this past week. Though the two TDs were screen passes which doesn't really derive confidence out of me, need to see Fields in the pocket and making plays.

BTW I thought they were supposed to whittle down the pre-season to 2 weeks, or am I making that up?

I have not been watching any preseason games. I have been reading some articles and some of the news near the end of last year's regular season about injuries on certain players like Jonathan Taylor and Derrick Henry. I would not put them on top of my cheatsheet hehe.

I'll definitely be watching the Cowboys / Seahawks game as its the most conducive to my time zone. But otherwise its a bit hard to get into preseason knowing they are starting 2nd- and 3rd-stringers.

Last night I watched yet another Netflix documentary, this one was called Johnny Football, about Manziel. It was really well done. I briefly heard of him in 2014 and how he was supposed to be the rookie sensation but had no idea about all the stuff that was going on off-field with him. Interestingly he continues to play in some Canadian football league. Guess he really needs money. Hopefully this documentary will help him out as well.

You guys been watching the pre-season at all?

I watched Minnesota @ Seattle, but that's all really.  I only kinda half-assed watched the games on Sunday, so I'm streaming the Niner's game right now.  I just want to see Lance play some more, because you never know if you'll get another chance.

BTW I thought they were supposed to whittle down the pre-season to 2 weeks, or am I making that up?

I think there was talk of that a couple of years ago, when they were tweaking the schedule.  One of the potential options was two weeks for pre-season and 18 regular season games.  I imagine it's still something the league would like to do some day.  It would make a lot of sense if they expand the league to 40 teams, add one to each division.

We also have 7 of us in the discord so far, see ya when ya get in there.

For those who haven't joined the Discord or didn't see it yet, I'm running a small giveaway of a Bitcoin NFL team token of your choice (except for FORTYNINERS, all out of those) in #off-topic. Feel free to claim one in there, all you need is a BTC address for which you possess the private key in order to someday redeem it. I know I've mentioned it here before and I won't spam the thread anymore about it, but they originally stem from this Super Bowl wagering project I announced here in Aug 2014... so the tokens are all now a bit over 9 years old.

Wolf - thanks for setting up the discord channel.  We have one for the bitcointalk league I run and it's a lot of fun having a place where we can chat freely without annoying the ever living shit out of moderators in this thread lol.

Anyone have any drafts yet or start running mock drafts?  I had my one draft for my new keeper league, and have a ran a few mocks.  God damn I love NFL football season Smiley

I have joined some public mock drafts on Yahoo to get some practice with my cheatsheet on their platform. Some of these top 10 wide receivers and running backs are concerning. They might not be as high as how they are ranked because of injury. However, I might be wrong. My compute cluster of gameboys might be malfunctioning hehehe.

We only have 1 more month of waiting before the first week!

@DireWolfM14. I will be sending payment and create a discord account later.
Preseason games for the next 3 days if you're needing a football fix. Mostly backups playing but you might spot a gem that makes the team. We also have 7 of us in the discord so far, see ya when ya get in there.

While waiting for the time to pass until September, I started watching a pretty decent docuseries on Netflix called Quarterback. ...
Cool, will check it out.
I've heard good things about this, and I think maybe I've discussed this in this thread before, but the whole reason I've avoided it is because I absolutely can not stand Patrick Mahomes wife Brittney (however you spell her name) and I know she's a big focus in the series.

I started watching this last night, and got through 3 episodes.  I must say it is quite well done.  I was just side-streaming while working on another project (unless I have a little woman next to me to cuddle, that's the only way I can watch TV these days.)  I like Patrick Mahomes more now than I did before, but yeah his wife is kinda annoying.  God, that voice of hers when she's rooting for Patrick is worse than banshee getting anal raped.  My glass of milk curdled on my desk.

On the other hand, Kirk Cousins' life seems so simple and normal.  I liked him before, but now I think I like him even more.  I've liked Mariota since his days at UofO, and have rooted for him to do well his entire career.  He had so much potential, and I really expected much more out his pro career.  It's a bit sad to see the trajectory of his career dwindle the way it has.

I did watch Hard Knocks last night though and definitely recommend it.  The Jets are about as exciting as a team can be right now and of course there's plenty of Aaron Rodgers so far.  He actually comes off like a cool guy though and I know that's not true lol, so there's definitely a bit of "fluff".

Lol, I like Aaron Rodgers, again I've been following his career since his college days at Berkely, and was furious when we (the Niners) didn't draft him in 2006.  I'll have to check this one out.  Is it on Netflix also?

While waiting for the time to pass until September, I started watching a pretty decent docuseries on Netflix called Quarterback. Its 8 eps. Follows the arcs of last year's season of Mahomes, Cousins and Mariota. I've only watched the first three and one thing they all have in common is they all seem like extremely nice dudes. They're all humble in their own ways and seem like they would talk to anyone who wasn't too annoying.

The first actual preseason games are in less than two days, so we made it. We all made it to the next season, congrats everybody. I know these games don't really count for dick but I'm gonna find a way to watch the Vikings/Seahawks game, need my fix.

Me waiting for the offseason to end:
