@BBC as wheelz stated the problem is there’s just not that much available out there to try and go get, and there’s definitely no one as close to as good as Rodgers available, even at 40.

David Montgomery signed by the Detroit Lions late last night.  As a Bears fan, Im actually really happy about this. I think he’s criminally overrated.  There’s a lot of solid RBs available right now and apparently the Bears are considering trading for Ekeler. He’d be a great upgrade but not sure if his contract would be reasonable.

The rpa action between fields and Ekler would be deadly.  I'm not big on large contracts for rbs but this one would make sense for the Bears.  Short passes and the run game for the Bears would be elite between those 2.  Good veteran presence in the locker room too.  Wonder what chargers would want back in a trade.

At this point I think there’s too many solid running backs on the free-agent market that you’ll be able to sign for much less than what you’d have to give up to the Chargers, plus what you’d have to spend signing him after trading for him, as you’re of course not going to spend capital to get him for him to only walk away 1-2 years later (not sure exactly what his current contract looks like).

Derrick Henry might also be available, and despite what most people think, he’s actually got a lot less wear and tear than many assume as he sat behind Murray for a few years so he was eased in to begin his career.

Damien Harris is available, would love for the Bears to swoop him up.

Didn't even realize Henry was up for grabs.  And yeah someone like Harris and draft another one in the 5th-7th rounds and hope to land a good one.  With Fields playing the ground game a lot ypu can't play a rookie all that much because he will end up being more a blocker than anything.  Not that I'm in favor of qbs trying to run all the time because it's only a matter of time before injuries follow fields is lethal when he moves out of the pocket.

@DireWolfM14. However if the 49ers trade and have Lamar in their team, would you say that he can increase the odds for San Francisco to win a superbowl?

Yes, but I say so only because he has more experience, and therefore I know more about him than our other two current options.  However, a healthy and improving Purdy would be my choice based on the admittedly small sample size.  The NFC Championship turned into an officiating shitshow right from the opening kickoff, and the kid got hurt, so I'm not holding that one against him.  But if Purdy can keep up the type of play we saw from him during his first three or four games, through 21 weeks, I think we would have a better chance with Purdy than Lamar.

@ChiBitCTy. The Jets might do better if they traded for someone else. Aaron Rodgers will be 40 years old and his performance were not very good much of the games I remember. However, if the Jets are not seaching for a quarterback that would bring them to the post season, Rodgers might be their quarterback hehe.

Problem is jets want to win now, and with Brady finally put of the division there is actually a shot that hasn't been there for 20 years.  Yeah Rodgers is "nfl old" but he is better than literally anyone ypu van get in the free agent market, draft or on the team currently so as much as I'm against 1-2 year stop overs before retirement it makes sense for the jets.  Let Wilson sit behind Rodgers and learn and he might actually be worth salvaging.

@ChiBitCTy. Aaron Rodgers will not go to the Las Vegas Raiders? I always speculated that Las Vegas would be his next team after the Raiders traded for Davante Adams. They might need that type of partnership to bring them to the post season.

Also, it appears Lamar trade to the 49ers speculation is growing. This does not imply that it will be an effortless negotiation, however.

Then you have Lamar Jackson. The Baltimore Ravens placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on the former NFL MVP, giving them the right to match any offer from an interested team.

Kawakami believes the 49ers are (or were) intrigued by the possibility. At the very least, they probably haven't dismissed the idea, and the writer doesn't believe they should.

"I checked around myself on Wednesday and was told that the 49ers are looking at everything, as always," Kawakami wrote.

He notes that the 49ers were not included in a list of organizations seemingly ruled out of a potential Jackson sweepstakes—teams like the Carolina Panthers, Atlanta Falcons, Washington Commanders, and Miami Dolphins.

Honestly I'm not a huge fan of Lamar Jackson.  I don't think he has the depth of skill to handle Shanahan's system.  He can have two, maybe three reads tops and then he's off running.  QBs of Jackson's style (historically speaking) aren't durable enough to last a whole season, and the speed of one's legs don't often compensate for the lack of ability to read defenses and progressions.  I'm entitled to my opinion.

As for trading for a veteran; I wouldn't doubt if Shanahan feels Trey Lance burning a hole in his pocket.  If it were me I wouldn't go for Jackson or Rodgers at this point, I might still want to see what other options come about or simply wait to see if Lance fulfils his draft-day promises.

The Raiders signed Jimmy Garapollo earlier today, so they will definitely not be going after Aaron Rodgers now. The Jets still make too much sense for Rodgers. They’ve got a much better team than the Packers, so he’s improving his situation sizably in my opinion, not sure what the hold up is at this point. I still expect this deal to get done.

I can’t see Lamar going to the Niners. They’ve already got two QBs on the roster they’ve either invested a lot in or have seen a lot from..doesn’t make sense to me.

I figured that Jimmy G would end up in Vegas, it just makes sense for both him and McDaniels given their history together, and Garoppolo's experience within McDaniels' system.  Despite his fragility, I think that Garoppolo will be a significant upgrade over Derek Carr.

Yeah Jimmy G made sense for the Raiders, but I'd still have tried my hardest to get Rodgers, who's 10x better.  Jimmy G is a very solid game manger, but he's just that..a game manger. He's never going to be the reason you win a Championship...Rodgers would/could be.  Just my 2.

Welp the jets just landed lazard and Rodgers publicly said if he goes to the jets he wants them to pick up lazard so I'd say that's a done deal.

My giants scooped up Darren waller for a 3rd round pick.  Just hope the dude can stay on the field.  If so that would be a huge plus in their passing game but that's a huge if.

Love how football season just keeps going.  Up next month draft mania lol.

I saw that with the Giants, congrats, that's a huge pickup.  I can't believe the Raiders let him go.  What a bunch of fools.  They have ZERO change at winning shit now IMO..they needed both Waller and Adams to catch balls.  Now they can double up on Adams easier.

Yeah it's only a matter of time before Rodgers signs with the Jets.  I think he's on Pat McAfee show tomorrow and I can see him wanting to wait to announce it there, or announce that's the plan but the Packers are holding things up on their end.  Either way I think it would be hilarious if he makes the Jets go get all his guys and what not then decides against playing lol.  Regardless happy to FINALLY not have a super star HOF QB on the Packers kicking my Bears asses year after year.

Some fun stuff going on today NFL wise so far, and we are of course far from being done.  My Chicago Bears in particular had a really big day..so far.  We got ourselves a nice Offensive Lineman, LB and our big signing is inside Linebacker Tremaine Edmonds..which is the largest 4 year inside LB contract in NFL history with 72 million and 50 guaranteed.

I am a happy man with our massive trade with the Panthers on Friday, getting all those picks and DJ Moore for our #1 pick.

Now the question remains...when is Rodgers going to sign with the Jets...which would be another big win for the Bears! lol

This might be the most head shaking speculation. Lamar certainly appears that he does not want to play for the Ravens. There are teams that need a quarterback, however, there is a team that certainly needs a quarterback of Lamar's caliber to win the superbowl. They have the offensive line, the wide receivers, the tightend and the running back. What is needed is the quarterback which it can be Lamar. My prediction is Trey Lance will be traded to the Ravens for Lamar Jackson!

Welp there goes my giants off to a rocking start.  Signed Daniel Jones to a 4 year $160mil contract.  Really 125 think 35mil of it is incentive based.

The biggest part of that is it allowed them to franchise tag saquon, they can't tag both so they needed jones to sign cause his tag would have been massive.  Saquons was only 10mil.

Shoen killing it already 😀

Derek Carr has joined the Saints after he left the Raiders. If I remember correctly, the Raiders wanted to trade him to the Saints in exchange for draft picks. Derek Carr scammed his own team hehehe. This might also open a chance for Lamar to the Raiders.

The draft begins on April 23. Why is this sport's offseason very long, the regular season and post very short?

Does the Falcons have the money to give Lamar a contract for 5 years that is fully guaranteed very much similar to Massage Watson's contract with the Browns?

Also, the article mentioned that it will also open a window for the superbowl for the Falcons if they can trade for Lamar? Is this real? I am shaking my head. The Dolphins might have a bigger window for the superbowl with Lamar, I reckon.
I am not so sure Lamar will be available as the Ravens can always put the exclusive franchise tag on him and if the negotiations fail he will still have to play for the Ravens, however if Lamar wants out he could follow the formula that Kirk Cousins used to get out from the Commanders and receive the tag on consecutive years and by the third year the tag becomes so expensive the Ravens will have to let him go and only receive compensatory picks instead of actually trading for him.

This is the only way I see Lamar opening a SB window for any team other than the Ravens, because if a trade has to take place for him to play at any other team then not only they will have to pay the huge salary of Lamar, severely limiting the option of bringing free agents, but a trade for him at minimum will entail 3 first round picks and this will limit the amount of talent which can be brought on the draft too.
I could see that happening too.  The problem is that franchise tag is so front heavy.  Who knows what happens but that's probably the best scenario for everyone.  Let's not ignore Lamar does get hurt and laying pit a $300 contract for a guy who can easily miss a quarter or half the games would wreck your squad.  That cap is tough and expensive quarterbacks tend to constrain teams to not being able to get people around them.  I'd steer clear if I was atlanta to be honest.

My next question is which team would be the most to give the risk to trade Lamar for the type of contract that he wants. A contract very much similar to Massage Watson. Also, which team has the money to give Lamar his contract?

The teams where I want to see Lamar go and that might also have the money are Miami Dolphins and the Las Vegas Raiders. They also need a good quarterback.

There’s a few teams that need a quarterback and could afford Lamar, the Dolphins are not one of them. As much as I feel that Tua Tagovailoa needs to hang it up if he wants to have a functioning brain by the time he’s 45 years old, with the Dolphins recently announcing that they are open to resigning Tua, I just don’t think he’s going to leave the game like he should. The Raiders are absolutely a spot I could see him landing. Though I don’t know what their cap situation is like at the moment.

Correction: I stated Calvin Ridley plays for the Falcons, completely forgot he was traded to the Jaguars 🐆

Yeah there are tons of teams who would snag Lamar in a second.  If he is on the field he instantly makes your team a contender that's how good he is.  Where he ends up, no clue.  My bet is that he stays right in Baltimore.  Think vegas is gonna splash and get Rodgers then he can play with davante again lol.
