The gambling industry can boost the country's economy because at least the gambling industry takes part to give additional income to the country. Maybe if the online casino can provide taxes to the government, it could help the government. But that list can be an example for the country that use gambling as their way to get additional income in this pandemic, and maybe in the future, there will be more country which will be on that lists.

Yeah, you are right. The gambling industry is a productive sector and one of the fastest-growing sectors in the world. Basically, gambling is a form of entertainment that can satisfy the desires of gamblers. So it is natural that the gambling industry can provide income to the government, because it can attract many foreign tourists and even has the potential to attract foreign investors.

Even if people do not know about gambling and not playing gambling before, they can easily visit the local casino by coincidence. With having so many promotions in that city, it could attract people to visit the casino, and if the casino can have in one place with the other place such as malls, local store, that will be more a good place for tourist.

Indeed. But still, perhaps, the government needs to focus on gambling addiction and build a rehabilitation center for the addicted person to gambling. At the same time, the government needs to focus and to try to handle the crimes too. Some people use the money from committing crimes for gambling, but we don't know how many of them. It really needs hard work from the government to control the crime of growth rate.

It seems to me that governments need first of all to raise the standard of living of the population in the country, so that people do not rely on gambling as the only way to get rich. Then fewer citizens will gamble for the purpose of earning money. Governments should also create special zones where you can build a casino and control it. Here are the initial steps that should reduce the number of playing citizens.
Governments by nature are reactive, they are never going to face a problem until it becomes big enough for them to notice so while they do not like the fact that people become addicted to gambling they love the money that they get from taxes and are very reluctant to spend that money in order to try to help the people that lost everything due to their addiction, so they prefer to turn a blind eye hoping that the problem resolves itself even if they know that never is going to happen.

It's kind of like selling cigarettes and alcohol at a low price that everyone can afford. The government makes a profit on these things and as long as the money comes in, and there are no major scandals, they continue to leave things unchanged. In this case the work that needs to be done is enormous, but certainly until a pious soul comes along, or until some noteworthy episode occurs, no one will move a finger.

If a country's gambling industry has the potential to compete on a global scale, then there will be many potential foreign investors who want to invest in it, and I think the government has no reason to reject it. In general, if foreign investment in a country increases, then the country's foreign exchange reserves will also increase (especially for developing countries) and of course, this is a benefit for the government.
Of course, this step can help the government get more money from the gambling industry and with it can also increase the state income which is included in the foreign exchange reserves. If gambling in these countries is legal, then the government has no reason to reject the idea.

Quite surprised to see how India is not on the list there. I mean, every single year I used to go to my grandmother's home to celebrate the festival of Diwali and we people used to see our elders playing rummy and teen patti and what not. It's unbelievable that others don't play with their money?  Huh
maybe India is not what the creator wanted to promote ,Because the List is obviously for promotion as well, for foreign gambler to Visit and for attraction,I don't say that India is not one of those places to visit but compared to the listed ,competition is really indeed Classified as A gambling countries.
Is it about the countries or is it about the average amount of money a person uses over gambling each month?
Thats average per adult ,means there are Really good spender on those countries lol

That's another story, why would someone ask for foreign investors when they can make easy money with their operation, gambling does not require a lot of capital to start, and it's very lucrative business especially if your government is supportive in gambling platform so getting investors is not a wise idea.

I guess what you are talking here is a land based casinos like Las Vegas or the Macau casino, well, I guess if that's what you think then I think it really needs a foreign investors as developing countries does not have the capital to compete with the best casinos in the world.

And for me this is the huge good thing that have happened in the world today and that is the good picture of crypto market even innthe midst of this catastrophe. And to be able to make up to the downfall of the economy of each country that's why the legalization of those countries in gambling could be one of their steps to make up their economy. But knowing Australia as one on the top of the list was amazing, i just didn't expect truly.

Perhaps, that list depends on the amount of money each person uses in gambling each month in each country. We don't know the indicator that the list uses to have a country that will be on the lists. If that so, perhaps, India was not too big than the other countries in those lists. But if there is an updated list for the country, perhaps, India will be included in it.

However, it is unnecessary to see what countries in those lists. But we need to know how we can control our money in gambling, which is our jobs and responsibility while we are playing gambling.

I wonder how Macau is not a part of any of these two lists!! Macau is a country whose economy is based on gambling businesses where 40% of their GDP is delivered by gambling! But these are really land based casinos which means the numbers here show the tip of the iceberg. Due to the social taboos around the world, a lot of people don't really visit the land based casino and these group of people actually enjoys the online casinos from the comfort of their home! And it is really difficult to capture that number correctly!

Secondly, I see US is missing from the list as well! US has an entire city for gambling and it is a prime destination of gamblers and tourists from around the world. I am sure everyone wants to visit Las Vegas at least once in their life! So I seriously feel the list is flawed!
Guess that those highrollers are come from australia or united states mostly, not the macau citizen obviously.
That is explain why i guess .
It is always about culture, australian loves gmble so much due its culture in the past but some people also denied it and says it was not about the history but it was because of the marketing and the industry grow so fast followimg with government support as it gives them a great income through taxation which unfortunately causing this big stats in australia .
They are taking gambling as an entertainment too serious.

In short, most of the Australian people are rich am I right? and lucky to those who reside in this country because their government really supporting all the citizens over this place. I wish all country have this kind of rules in terms of gambling. But there are some country that has a strong restriction in terms of gambling.

Governments in general are slow and inefficient and its why a country is better off with largely privately determined competitive business, same for gambling enterprises really.   If governments have a light touch and tax in a way that is not restrictive but helpful in regulation perhaps then its a positive for both sides.

but it only shows that Australia is a rich country,

I guess its not going to reflect growth properly, I'd rate per head over the size of the bet exactly because more people the more potential there is.

I sometimes wonder how many Americans are gambling now. Typically people gamble online with much higher amounts because you have faster access to large sums of money.
There are many restrictions for Americans, but looking purely at casinos that are physically located, I think there is a lot of gambling going on here. Or maybe somewhere in Asia.
I did not know so many people players from Australia.

I just googled the top gambling countries around the world and i see India on top. Maybe Asia will become a new hub for gambling very soon.

Still its one year old results from some articles which actually can't be taken as reference for anything unless they provided valid source from where they took data and made their analysis. Maybe India got more online gamblers but in terms of wagering amount still other country will be top in the list.

I did some google searches and find this article that talks about those countries that are so crazy about gambling. It is just 5 countries but the countries included are: Singapore, Ireland, Finland, Australia and UK in which basing from the OP's source is close but UK is not included in that year. Based on that article also, people in UK lose up to $15B on different games per year. That is just massive.

In pandemic, with everything going online, there would be across world people would be gambling now and as there may not be much entertainment as everyone was at home and on other hand people might have even thought to try their luck in order to make some money.

It could attract people to use online gambling to gamble at this pandemic as they can not easily go to the casino. I think they will not risk their life while they have other options to play gambling online. But maybe in the country which casino reopens, people will try to visit that place to gamble, and if that happens, the gambling industry will grow. But it is not good if people can not prevent their losses when they are playing gambling.

BTW, just out of my curiosity, does this thread counts the illegal gambling of the Countries? or is it only for legal purposes fkr legal gambling?
Anyways, I think it's  not as illegal gambling are way too impossible to count (maybe?) ?

And I think this comes for another discussionLoL

I went to the site the OP linked and it seems that China is not included in that list because we all know how illegal gambling is in China. What country is listed that might be related to China is Macau which is listed as the most country which gamble the most. Based on the site, it generates 50% of the autonomous region of China.
Chine is the Number 2 in the Gaining list though wasn't listed in the Losers so the country is there and not for totally banning.

and 1 thing is the List was created and provided in 2017-2018 meaning 2-3 years from our time now ,there are many changes for Sure .

and Gambling is maybe illegal in China but they are the Biggest owner of gambling places around the globe.

That might be true.

Even though China banned gambling in their country, there are still a lot of casinos in Macau and then a lot of online casinos functioning. I don't know if they have POGOs in their country because here in our country, there are a lot of them. But does that count? these POGOs offer their services outside the country, that means they are not in the country.
