I don't think so, bitcoin can be said to be the parent of all coins if bitcoin rises will be followed by other coins and vice versa and of course alltcoin follows the movement of bitcoin, so if bitcoin crashes for example prices drop dramatically, of course alcoin

The evidence here does not show bitcoin price cash is good for altcoin at all, whenever bitcoin  sneezes, altcoin catches the cold. How is bitcoin crash good for altcoin? except of course if you have more funding, we may conclude that you will be able to buy cheap coin!

BTC accidents are a concern, and this has an impact on altcoin too. But with this altcoin will learn more in order to overcome the situation.
And if BTC has good development, the altcoin will also be better.

If it really possible than altcoins will be able to severe the influence of bitcoin for it's growth. that would be great things for the future of altcoin.
But as we all know that it's not that easy to remove the influence of bitcoin to the altcoins, it just like anywhere bitcoin goes then the altcoin will surely follow.

OP, if 2017 was the summer of ICOs, then 2018  was a space filled with hundreds of startups shouting into a void. Here skepticism has run rife and Ethereum notably saw a dramatic price correction, in part driven by startups selling off their ETH holdings in droves due to unsuccessful ICOs. Neither should any of us want an inflated market. By design, ICOs work as a fundraising process and offer little to the retail investor beyond vague hopes of future gains. Cryptocurrencies need a stable value that is linked less to speculation and more to genuine demand. Otherwise, there is no hope of attracting institutional money.

If a bull run is in the offing it could be wise not to get too excited; similarly, crashes should be – if not welcomed – accepted with equanimity as part of a growing process. We are hopefully moving towards a stage where the old school, so Bitcoin, Ethereum, can offer some level of stability while new altcoins are judged on their tech and credibility.

This offers retail investors an opportunity, but no longer should we entertain the fantasy of recouping our money 1,000 times over. A mature market will see much more of ‘pocket change’ investments which, if held in the long run, could prove to turn out as profitable ventures.

ICO is dreaming of flying to the proverbial moon. But investment decisions made upon dreams of a crypto gold rush are as good as gambling. If indeed the ‘days of 1,000 times gains are over’ it is hard to see how this would be a good strategy for retail investors.
Development of blockchain technologies has exploded far beyond the maiden project that is bitcoin. A nascent technology, it
You do not need to be gambling on the big coins as these markets are too vast for retail investors to play in, perhaps with an exception for savvy day traders and long-term hodlers.

It is a lot of work to sort through the crypto noise, though. There are platforms out there trying to deliver something different: notably, the issue of scalability with traditional blockchains may require a different approach. Other solutions have been proposed and young projects are proposing an entirely different design in their networks.

The initial era of hype is gone and, as a consequence, it is more important than ever that retail investors scrutinize projects, encourage debate and support projects. Throwing too much weight behind an altcoin may not be a wise move for most, instead, distribute investments across projects which pique interest.
What will help the crypto markets reach a level of serious maturity is less speculation and more functional judgements. If the community were to achieve this, it could bring the legitimacy crypto’s to need to foster widespread adoption.

For my part , I’m happy because I can buy bitcoin & altcoin at cheaper price & in larger quantity for my gambling session at  betchain , 7bitcasino , fortunejack and my favorite VegasCasino.io, .

I guess it is the opposite part. Because of the recent price drop of bitcoin, the altcoins were totally affected and most of the altcoins got wreck prices that never seen before.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/why-did-crypto-market-experience-a-27-billion-wipeout-experts-discuss-factors

Every situation has a bright side, you just have to look at the bigger picture!

According to Crypto Rand, a currency trader and technical analyst,

"We will have to wait some more months until BTC settle down its path through a potential reversal, but the alternative cryptocurrency market could take its own direction getting rid of the BTC influence. The big caps altcoin response has been amazing so far."

Further on, the article goes on to say,

"Institutional investors are focusing on products that provide investor protection and strengthen the infrastructure of the crypto market."

Such volatility doesn't mean anything. The true value of cryptocurrency lies in a strong foundation (which requires user-friendly decentralized marketplaces where we can use cryptocurrency, and added security in the form of escrow systems) which will be made possible with the upcoming ICO's.

They're not all scams!

I don't think altcoins can survive the market without the influence of bitcoin. I guess bitcoin is influencing each and every market value of each altcoins in different ways, if bitcoin crashes, so as the other altcoins.

Yes there few of altcoins are going to survive without the needs of BTC to going up but a few of these only which have a usuable platform and unique from others functions so an ICO should have a unique function in order to survive alone without depending other cryptocurrency .

Bitcoin crash is never a good news for Altcoin. Many Altcoin derive it's value from bitcoin and when bitcoin dumps,  every Altcoin simply go under.  As cryptocurrency market grows and mature,  I believe this trend will change for good!

There is no evidence to support this post. What we have always seen is that BTC crash also corresponds to altcoins crash.

every coin or token in the coin market irrespective of what market it is must have a trading pair and some way or the other that trading pair is still tied to the bitcoin or ethereum when in line is tied to the bitcoin pair and that means that what ever happens to bitcoin has in  a way affected all other altcoins. so it is no good news for altcoins

The good news for altcoins is when bitcoin has risen dramatically in price. This means that the growth of the cryptocurrency market began, and in the future will begin to grow and altcoins.

Don't think that altcoins will get rid of BTC dependance. When the bull market comes back and Bitcoin begins to grow everybody will be buying BTC first and after that - some main altcoins. One of the main reasons here is trading pairs - not many altcoins are being traded to USD. They are all traded to BTC.
Yes, all the altcoin price benchmarks are mostly influenced by the price movements of bitcoin. so whatever happens to bitcoin will definitely affect the altcoin. looking at existing data, we can ensure that most altcoins are currently dumped when bitcoin prices decline.

but when bitcoin price go down altcoins also follow indicating that altcoins are still dependent on bitcoin. so it is not a good news for altcoins a they will remain connected to bitcoin but who knows maybe an unexpected will happen.

I still see that all altcoins are still very strongly tied to Bitcoin and at the moment, Bitcoin is like a stone that pulls under water.

It's safe to say that the altcoins are still bleeding just as hard as they have been, when BTC goes down 7-8%, the altcoins go down 15%. BTC doesn't rally as hard as the altcoins, but you have to keep in mind that it also doesn't fall as hard as them.. Hindsight is 20/20, but the best thing any of us could have done (apart from getting out entirely) was to move into Btc, I think most of us that didn't have lost virtually all our satoshi gains...
