That's a huge amount it's worth a fortune here in our country honestly I could not stop gambling because that's where my fortune came if I am in that situation, I will still allocate maybe 20% of my winning but this time I will just have some fun and just be entertained.
On most countries then well this amount is really a big one which is already enough for you to have a decent life.Allocating 20%
back or budgeting on gambling is not bad but you cant still be sure if you wont go over that limit. The more time you engage
with gambling the higher the possibility of spending those funds back is high and might even cause for breaking it all even
to the gambling house. The decision has been made on whats being mentioned on op was really a good choice where
he do buy up something more important.

It his own choice and will if ever he will already stop playing gambling after winning such big rewards with just out of his boredom. He was really that lucky enough to win great rewards from two games that reach £400,000. Well, maybe it his gut feel that since he have already won such large amount with two tries, it will be good to seize the moment to already stop gambling for he might think that the moment he won is his luckiest time and he do not want to loose all his winnings for another one because the win is purely due to luck. It seems that he have already thought that if he will continue testing his luck if he continue gambling, instead of experiencing wins, he might get into the other way which he have already prevented to happen while he can still manage to quit. With the amount he have gained, he can already start his own business in which way he might make his money grow rather than playing gambling again. Let us just see if he would play gambling once again because there are cases that once a people experience win on gambling, he will surely give another shot to test his luck of winning again.

The window and door salesman has already spent £50,000 on a house deposit, as well as presents for himself and his family including his daughters aged eight and three. A holiday is also on the cards.

But Josh is now giving up online gambling. He said: “I feel I’ve had my luck and I’ve done really well. If I carried on I’d jinx it.”

His family is lucky to have him who is not tempted to strike more while the iron is hot, it's very rare usually gamble half of their earnings and hoping that the winnings continue and they have nothing to lose since they are holding to half of their winnings his family he never came back to try more.

I stand with Ukraine.
At first congratulations to winner, it's an amazing amount, especially during current situation and upcoming economic crisis. This is a time when people really have to hardly spend any money in unnecessary things.
Well, OP, he may gamble again because of the reason that you stated but there is another factor too: What you got out of thin air is easy to let go but when you did hard work just to get something, then it's very hard to let it go.
But hope he will be smart, especially right now.

Actually I have mixed feelings about his situation. On the one hand he was smart enough to spend £50,000 on a house deposit right away. On the other hand, he won £110,000 on a roulette game just a week later, which means, considering that the max payout on roulette is 35x, that he was betting with more £3,000 at once, betting on a single number. Not the safest betting strategy, if you ask me. With that kind of betting he could lose the remaining money, £200k+, the same day. So, it's kind of hard to believe that he will stop gambling completely.

I bet he has spent his fortune wisely as he have brought a home from that money and now he can have something of his own out of nothing from that gambling money. This again proves that luck is most of the percentage when it comes in gambling and your strategy is only of a fractional amount. He seems to be a wise man to do such a daring task of not gambling again as after winning such huge amount anyone would be tempted to gamble again.
He's indeed a wise man because he do directly buy out something out of that winning rather than losing those money into thin
air by playing gambling again.Normally when you do won jackpots or big sum, then you would do ask for more but
people who are aware into their doings and sensible enough will surely make these steps where we do buy up our needs
yet this kind of opportunity do comes one in a lifetime and cherishing it will be the most worthy thing that should be done.

Yes, that is proving to us that the lucky factor is the most important in gambling. I hope that he doesn't spend all of the win money to buy many things but he also safe the money for his future as he doesn't know if he can win much money again or not. Besides that, I hope he doesn't come back to the casino for a long time because he still has a lot of money to spend. I guess maybe that winning will hardly happen again in the future, so he needs to remember that is the best thing that he can get from gambling.

Josh Spurling decided to gamble out of sheer boredom since he was locked at home due to the current lockdown situation, and he gambled on two different occasions and on both he won big amounts totalling to £400,000.

It’s also pertinent to note that he’s decided not to gamble anymore as he believes to quit while he’s ahead, but something tells me he’s going to gamble again.

Now I know many will ask me why I feel this, so the answer is simple he’s already spending his fortune away quickly, and he’ll have more confidence in his luck so it’s only a matter of days before he gambles again.

Lastly there’re two important lessons we all can learn from him, 1) quit while you’re ahead and 2) don’t splurge your winning fortune quickly spend it slowly and wisely.

I am terrible at Fantasy Football!!!
Most likely he will come back after spending his winnings. If we already experience how to win we are thinking that the next time we gamble the chances to win again is high its on our mindset. But it depends on our luck we cant rely to our past experience or strategies because if you're not lucky then your chance to win is slim.

Stop gambling and enjoy the winnings but spend it wisely. But they say the money you acquire easily is very easy to spend compared to the money you earn from hard work because you will value every cent of it.
I think the same, quitting while you are ahead is very difficult because most gamblers at that point are going to think on all the profits they are leaving behind if they quit, and while we know that is not true that is the way many gamblers think, so once the money begins to run out he is most likely going to try to gamble once again and most likely he is not going to be as lucky next time and that is going to put him in an even worse situation than the one he was at the beginning of all of this.

If he has that gambling mindset, definitely, he can still fall for that thought that he can extend his luck and go chase for another windfall. I myself won big in a land based casino and in less than 24 hours I'm back again and hoping that I will get lucky. Not the best thing to do!!
Lightening only strikes once, if you get lucky and win big then the best solution is to get out when you can, there is nothing wrong in gambling with a limited budget but once you go in with the mentality to win big again and again then once you start loosing your adrenaline will carve you to chase down the loss and once that happen you end up loosing everything you won, if that guy can stay away then he is well and good if not he will end up loosing.

He is very lucky to have won such an huge amount of money from gambling, and he is quite clever too for using part of the money he won to pay for his house deposit first, this would ensure he have already spent most of the money he won on important necessities for his life. It is always hard to predict as he might start gambling again when the greed for more money goes into his mind in the future, as long as the players continues to gamble, they will always stand a chance to lose their money to the casino.

This is rare, a gambler will always get back to gambling or allocate a portion of his winnings so he can continue gambling and try to extend his luck, but the guy choose not to continue and spend his winning to what's important to him, those who know when and how to stop when winning are really winners in gambling
it is not rare because he is not a addicted gambler mate so it is easy for Him to get away anytime he wants but the question is how long he can handle this decision?
because as i see this things are only decided because of the huge wins and he wants to spare Time and money with Love ones and other stuffs in real life but once he got established those things?for sure he will come back and bet againa s now he has already good amount to make a bet at any time he wants.

Why talking about rare things while we can call it normal since even though he is not a addicted gambler still hes mind will possibly find those winnings again. And let's cut the crap about the story since the main thing here is as you said how can he handle the guts on not to play since for sure the temptation to play is there since he have huge money from his winnings that he can spend to play again in his games.

If he can manage to roll over his money then he will surely stop gambling but if in case he will just use it carelessly and time will come that he will spend all of his winnings without any ROI then time will come that he will think to gamble again. Money is only temporary and if you cannot use it wisely then it will surely fade easily so the outcome will be up to him on how he is going to spend the money that he earned.

And if he already spent 1/8 of his winnings and he will continue that habit then there is no hope for him to really quit gambling not only if he is going to use it in business where he will be earning a profit using his remaining money.

If you lived on a developing country then i that kind of amount would really be a life changing and it would be much better if you do secure it out before spending it back on gambling house. We do have our own decision though and he should at least be aware on what are the things should really be prioritize first either he would buy his needs or would gamble it out again.

Each of us do have different lifestyle, some do have money and some doesnt have so their decision will depend on what they are capable of.
400k euro is indeed life changing.

I can say that he's smart enough on securing something rather than wasting it up all again.

Yes, I am sure that his life has changed because of that money, and he will have a chance to use that money for himself. We hope that he can prioritize his life and family first before he uses that money for another thing.

I see that if we have much money, we tend to show off to other people, so they know that at that moment, our life has changed. I think that will not happening to many people because some people can think about what the most important for their life, and what they need to do with that money. I am sure they will prepare or making a plan for their future because now, money is not a problem for them, and they can arrange their future with that money.

With regards to gambling again, I will do that too! I will just use the same amount of money that I usually use when I play. I will not become a high roller just because, I won a lot of money, I will stay low bettor and hoping that I would hit that jackpot again. You can't quit easily in gambling when you win that amount of money, but t's good to just stay low bettor and don't risk your winnings on gambling again.

I too think that staying a low bettor is the best solution for him, because, let's be realistic, it's very hard to quit gambling completely after such a big win. I bet after several months of abstaining, seeing that a big part of his winnings is gone already, he might ask himself: "Where else can I earn such money?", and start gambling with the remaining part, risking probably more than £200k. Or, if he wouldn't start gambling, those thoughts would be bothering him all the time.

But if he allocated 5% of the won money to gamble with during the following 10 years, he would not lose more than £20k during that period of time, and would find peace of mind at the same time.

We don't know his life story. Maybe he finally decided to quit gambling because before that, he already lost a lot of money due to gambling. But yes, very rare that a gambler will totally quit their gambling activities after winning huge amount of money. Most of them will go back and try to duplicate their luck. But luck in gambling is very hard and rare.

If he can quit gambling after he wins a huge amount of money, then that will be the biggest winning for him because he can use that money for his life, and he can buy anything he wants while he can also saving that money for his future. I think it is reasonable to see someone quit their gambling activities because they don't want to ruin their life after they win big money.

But if that person comes back and tries to search for another big winning, I don't think that will easy for him because his biggest lucky already comes to him, and it is difficult to have another biggest lucky in the other days. His decision to quit gambling is the perfect decision for him while he has a chance to do that.

If you lived on a developing country then i that kind of amount would really be a life changing and it would be much better if you do secure it out before spending it back on gambling house. We do have our own decision though and he should at least be aware on what are the things should really be prioritize first either he would buy his needs or would gamble it out again.

I admire him for quitting gambling after winning a lot of money.

Some people will still continue gambling and spend all of those huge pots until their last paper. This should serve as a lesson for some people that are always being greedy. Now, due to his act, he can now build a business or make his own small casino house. It's rare for a gambler to quit after gaining a lot that will change his lives 'cause some thought of trying to bet again hoping for another pot.

One of the issues that a person become additive is the greed because more and more money they want to make it and their is no end to it. So people who are really strong or have the self discipline like this guy has it you quit the time you want to do it and only gamble when you want to have fun and not otherwise.
