What a mad lad!

That is just amazing. Gamblers would usually do that too but the thing here is that they would be continuing to do that until that £400,000 is lost. The amazing part here is the control that he has. We never know if he continues to gamble since the drive of people would usually make him gamble again especially if he is really desperate. I hope he doesn't gamble anymore as he said and just take care of his children using that money.

I think that is a very good strategy because you will not procure any losses. This is the kind of strategy I am willing to implement. Surely the gambling owners surely hates this guy because instead of them getting the people with their pockets dry, the opposite happened, though it is a good practice there are more people who are banned because they are too good in playing the casino. On the other hand, gambling owners should should take note that this kinds of people exist so up the ante of your customer services by giving the winning players some reason to stay, and make your casino more maze like and having fewer unseeable exits will do the work, though it may only work with physical casino.

still will back in games and spend much money as they have plenty to lose now.

Hope that the winner will make truth to His word and really leaves the gambling world for Good and spend the money in real world business.

However his decision is really appreciable, because very few will have such a mind to stop after big wins.

Because gambling is a serious addiction that takes a very hard decision to stop. Hard decision in the sense that if a bad experience happens to a gambler, only then he can stop. The guy who has worn such huge amount might continue playing until he goes out of cash then the reality hits him with a lot of regret, only then he can stop.

He may have not played for long enough to get indeed addicted. It's interesting that he's not really a gambler.
But since he won big twice out of 2 occasions, he may start thinking he is even luckier than he is and try again. Interesting to see what'll happen when he starts losing (hopefully not all his winnings).
On another hand, we could give him some credit. Maybe he won't return indeed. If he doesn't really enjoy gambling enough to play for fun with small amounts (and from what I see he doesn't), he may have taken a proper decision which is not that difficult to keep.

I wish him use his winning wisely.

I will do the same thing if will also win that huge amount of money, gambling relies on luck so winning on it is such a great feeling. I think winning so much money is enough because you will lost your prize if you still going to bet because luck is not always on our side, know how to be contented, do not take the risk of spending your prize on betting and betting.

All of us here wants to become successful and rich someday, the time where we can buy and do what we want with our own money. In reality, gambling is risky and can put you in a huge losses and that's what you should know about it. Gambling is not a getting rich scheme, maybe the guy that OP stated is just lucky enough to win that prize. Gambling results are very unpredictable and uncertain that's why if you want to win, you must seek some advice to those professional gamblers to give you some advice to minimize your losses.

Winning the game should stop you from gambling, it is really different from those people that won't stop betting while losing the game, some people triggers so much when they keep losing their money so they cannot stop gambling because of thinking that they can turn back the money that have lost.

Not all people are the same, some gamblers want to win more money after winning because they see that there's a possibility of winning no matter how much you've spent. You can't force them to stop, the only way for a gambling addict to stop is by himself to realize his losses.

I think the only thing that will make a person to stop from gambling is when he experienced huge loss in his money and his environment are also affected. Gambling is very stressful if you always win and it can lead to anxiety that can affect people who surrounds you.

Learning when to stop from gambling is really helpful most especially if you're a beginner.

Wow, this guy is one in one million  Grin
I would do the same, for real, if I won this amount I would probably stop and enjoy the money for the rest of my life, this amount of money is enought to have a stable life if you invest correctly

We have different techniques and plans in our gambling career and it depends if what are we going to do after winning a huge amount of money, either we quit or we still gamble. I'm pretty sure he has a strong reason why he quit gambling after winning £400,000, maybe he want to invest a business so that he will have a maintenance for his funds as well as earning profit.

His mindset is really for a long term investment that will benefit his family for a long time. But I think if I won that huge amount of money, I will surely invest a business and still play gambling because we all know that gambling is risky and maybe there's a probability that I will win again. We just need to become lucky and seize the perfect timing and patience in gambling to prevent huge losses and acquire huge winnings.

To the guys thinking he will be back to gambling, there are controlled people who knows exactly the time to stop

But some people who stopped from gambling can possibly go back in gambling because of the probability of missing the gambling experience and environment. Sometimes people gamble just to relieve their stress and not to become a gambling addict. That's the reason why self-discipline and controlling your emotion is essential before engaging in gambling to prevent addiction.

That's really a good decision and it takes a lot of resolve to stopped while winning, i wonder how di he get that courage to quit when you could even win millions especially if he has good strategy in Betting. Because i wouldn't really consider it just luck winning $400,000 he must have found a good technique and stopped while the site owner or devs has no clue about it.

Some gamblers are lucky, he is a very lucky guy who has been able to win in this lockdown. If he intends to stop gambling, he will leave it for a while but he will return. It is a habit, I wish him to have enough control and not fall into vice.

but he will ? we dont know what is running on his head.  not all gamblers are going to continue this way forever because a gamblers life is also stressful and verry tiring  .

i believe all gamblers are only waiting for their big breaks before they finally decide to change a better habbit/hobby  . meanwhile , this lockdown again bring some positive effects because people lurks on gambling sites and playing with thier luck and they dont expect to hit such big amounts of cash while only chilling .

It is true, everything we see happens in a matter of time. Another thing right now I see is the lockdown. Feeling bored he had spend on gambling and has got a huge return out of it. Likewise now he has a big fund in his wallet which will boost his confidence to gamble. However his decision is really appreciable, because very few will have such a mind to stop after big wins.

A really good thing that happened to him during this lockdown.
Also, he can use some of the money to set-up his own business so he will not be a Salesman for somebody, but a Salesman for his own business.  Grin
Let us all hope that he will stick to his decision, he already made a fortune out of gambling.

I just do hope that huge wins will not tempt him to gamble again. The usual psychological scenario of a player is to aim for another huge win thus making a person to gamble more. Josh did a good decision though. If i were at his feet, I will just give space to gambling and spend my winnings to my family. "Give space" and not "giving up".

Though he save himself early from greediness and addiction. But maybe he may think that luck comes around once in a while but yeah it's true. We can't always be lucky everyday.

He's very cautious and wary with his fortune knowing that luck doesn't dictate the entirety of the game. It is not bad though if he is going back to gamble again when he will do it moderately but if it turns out to be often as he dragging the down his last resources then something bad is waiting for him up ahead. Anyway I think this kind of gesture like quitting right away is applicable for people who won the jackpot, or something far bigger than what he bet, and had already bet. Since you gain more than what you spend. Otherwise it is just a loss or your money remains the same.
Quitting after you hit the jackpot is the right thing to do, and like what you have said it's very possible that he might comeback and play again, the fact that he quit and bring his money out from the house give him opportunities to think about where to spend the money, if he's wise enough and use it to divert and start a business it will be a good start for him. Let the gambling side be entertaining once you have a business to feed your vices.

Most likely he will come back after spending his winnings. If we already experience how to win we are thinking that the next time we gamble the chances to win again is high its on our mindset. But it depends on our luck we cant rely to our past experience or strategies because if you're not lucky then your chance to win is slim.

Stop gambling and enjoy the winnings but spend it wisely. But they say the money you acquire easily is very easy to spend compared to the money you earn from hard work because you will value every cent of it.

He has won a lot of money, so he wants to quit gambling. I don't know if he can, after wining a lot of money from gambling it is quit hard to leave it. Although I do not support leaving gambling jut for wining sufficient amount of money. I think he could keep some money for gambling and do other things with the rest of the money. Without giving up on gambling for fear of losing, he can allocate a certain amount of money for gambling.

It is normal if he wants to quit gambling because he already says that “I feel I’ve had my luck and I’ve done really well. If I carried on, I’d jinx it.”  I think he can feel that he already got his luck, and he is not sure if he still played, he will win again or not. It is good learning for us when we can feel enough is enough. But enough, in this case, is he can win a lot of money, and he quit gambling at the right time. He can use some money to gambling, but perhaps, he is too afraid if he becomes addicted. In this case, he can control himself with the right so he can quit gambling.

I seriously hope he will keep his words. He already got his luck in gambling where most gamblers are aiming for this in life. How many gamblers have you seen that they are promising to themselves that if they win big, they will quit gambling? This is a perfect example of that person. However, he should really keep that promise, else, if he will go back in gambling, it will be the same story, he will eventually lose it all.

Lastly there’re two important lessons we all can learn from him, 1) quit while you’re ahead and 2) don’t splurge your winning fortune quickly spend it slowly and wisely.

Honestly, these 2 lessons are just simple but difficult to do.

In my case, if I won a life-changing amount, surely I'm still on my mind to put it on useful things such as business, real estate, etc. and began securing my savings. But impossible for me not to allocated some of those winnings in gambling since as always, "why should I stop if I won". The mindset of lightning can struck 2 times is always in a gambler's mind.

It now depends on how responsible these big winners will continue their gambling activity. I'm amazed at the person in the subject that decided to stop. He just really tested his luck that time but not actually treating gambling as a regular activity to the point that he always gambled. Also, the reason why he able to easily quit gambling before.
There is a mindset that called as "always win", gambler who won big amount of money thinks that they are not vulnerable to losses and that is why they gains are come to waste. Consecutive winning doesn't mean that you are not vulnerable to losses, we should protect our gains and it is by doing risk and management. Our mindset should will also good because it is bad if we always thinking about winning and not losses and that is why we there are some gamblers who regretted their past decisions because they are not prepared face unexpected situations.

It’s also pertinent to note that he’s decided not to gamble anymore as he believes to quit while he’s ahead, but something tells me he’s going to gamble again.

Now I know many will ask me why I feel this, so the answer is simple he’s already spending his fortune away quickly, and he’ll have more confidence in his luck so it’s only a matter of days before he gambles again.

Lastly there’re two important lessons we all can learn from him, 1) quit while you’re ahead and 2) don’t splurge your winning fortune quickly spend it slowly and wisely.
A gambler who won in gambling already will have his confidence in his luck and if his winnings will be gone, he will go back to gambling again hoping that he will win "AGAIN".

The best thing for a gambler to do if he won in gambling especially with that huge amount is to learn it to grow but not into gambling again. Quitting gambling is easy to say but it is very hard to do as my observation. If quitting is very easy to do then many gamblers must've quit right now because most of them are experiencing losses already.

One thing more is that if he doesn't know how to spend his money wisely then it will be useless and he will be using it on different vices or some things that will not give income or profit to him.
