What he did is smart to quit after winning big.
He does not have to stop, but just bet with some small amounts, and never touch his big win.
Maybe investing in Bitcoin and other assets would be the best thing.

This is just an advertisement strategy created by the gambling sites itself? Roll Eyes

Online gambling owners wants to trap the casino gamblers into online gamblers and also wants the people to gamble who never wanted too by saying the huge won amount and adding I am going to quit will make it as more realistic but this is just a pure trick since gambling owners know 99% of people will never get such amount of winnings so they will keep on gambling. Tongue

Sorry, I am conspiracy minded guy. Grin

Josh Spurling decided to gamble out of sheer boredom since he was locked at home due to the current lockdown situation, and he gambled on two different occasions and on both he won big amounts totalling to £400,000.

That is the best boredom story I have ever heard. This is what we can really call a lucky guy in this lockdown situation that we experience. Who would have thought that because of his boredom he will win that big?  Shocked Shocked

Obscene luck, I am insanely jealous Grin
I never get anywhere close to this kind of luck gambling. I’d love to know how much he wagered & how often he gambled previously. It does seem like one in a million luck to win so much if he was playing with such small stakes?
The article doesn’t mention his gambling history & how much he bets with.

This is how we should really think. Winning a big amount of money is like a once in a lifetime opportunity, so when you experience winning such amount, don't lose the opportunity given to you. Because it does not guarantee that we can win again. Good for him that he decided not to gamble more. He can just use the money to buy and do the things he wants with that money. It's too risky to gamble it again. If a person knows how to limit and control himself with gambling, for sure he will also do the same.

But of course, he's still a human with greed inside. He might still gamble again because he loved the feeling of winning big time. I just hope that he won't let that greed to control him. He can still gamble a little bit, but I hope he will use his money wisely and prioritize his family.

Josh Spurling decided to gamble out of sheer boredom .....
^ Josh's story is not new. I've heard a lot of stories who experience the beginner's luck. Most of these people decided not to continue and play gambling anymore but these people went back and play gambling since they won the first time. Some of them lose and but few of them win. Unfortunately, those people who lose in gambling almost lose everything. Nevertheless, Josh here is not a regular gambler because he gambles just because of boredom that he wanted to find something entertainment game.

That's what I thought so He just got in the casino because of this pandemic, if it weren't for the Corona he wouldn't be betting. He is now a well-known person though. I guess he's giving away half of his money to her so she can also be independent or so. If he comes back to gambling, it will probably end after lockdown.

Lastly there’re two important lessons we all can learn from him, 1) quit while you’re ahead and 2) don’t splurge your winning fortune quickly spend it slowly and wisely.

Yes, this is indeed an important lesson, If I win that big, I would probably do the same thing.
But we all know that it is a hard thing to do since if we win huge amount of money, we tend to play more due to our expectation of winning more.

but something tells me he’s going to gamble again.

I also have the same feeling. He got that money so easily and if ever that he is thinking of winning that easily, he will probably play again and we can't remove to him the expectation to win more.

Jack of all trades 💯
Josh Spurling decided to gamble out of sheer boredom since he was locked at home due to the current lockdown situation, and he gambled on two different occasions and on both he won big amounts totalling to £400,000.

It’s also pertinent to note that he’s decided not to gamble anymore as he believes to quit while he’s ahead, but something tells me he’s going to gamble again.

Now I know many will ask me why I feel this, so the answer is simple he’s already spending his fortune away quickly, and he’ll have more confidence in his luck so it’s only a matter of days before he gambles again.

Lastly there’re two important lessons we all can learn from him, 1) quit while you’re ahead and 2) don’t splurge your winning fortune quickly spend it slowly and wisely.

A SALESMAN won more than £400,000 in online casinos when he was bored during lockdown.

Josh Spurling struck lucky in two games just a few days apart.

The window and door salesman has already spent £50,000 on a house deposit, as well as presents for himself and his family including his daughters aged eight and three. A holiday is also on the cards.

But Josh is now giving up online gambling. He said: “I feel I’ve had my luck and I’ve done really well. If I carried on I’d jinx it.”

If I win that amount for sure I will do the same since provably if he choose to gamble more a chances for him to lose back what he earn and good decision to quit so that he can enjoy his winnings.

For sure from this post many will attempt to gamble out of boredom and hope to win the same amount as him.

Nothing lasts forever
He has obviously done the right thing here because many of these lucky winners can't handle their luck and lose their winning quickly.
Many of them spend it lavishly while the others gamble again to lose it all. There are only a few people like the one mentioned in OP who quits while he is ahead and spends it rather slowly on important things. If I would have won then I would first take back my capital investment and then see how much I have left with and then invest in on more important things while keeping some for further gambling.

I think i can understand why he says that he is quitting because for me as you already mentioned that he only gambles then because of boredom meaning he is not really a gambler and just trying to find fun in betting.
So having this decision is reasonable and yeah he might not gamble again and will use the money for more functional ways than gamble.

I don't take loans, ask for sig if I ever do.
The jinx be true ngl. Though that may just apply to all of us, jinxed or not. Props to the guy though. Not a lot of guys are actually able to resist the temptation of stopping gambling after winning such a huge amount. The best chances of that happening are if someone actually has played for a long time, lost a lot ( more than what they won ) and finally achieving a big break, decided to not push himself. Most of those who gamble and win big earlier are most likely to be tempted to continue instead of stopping after all. You can commonly see such things as a scam though, in most cases where they just tempt the gambler to play by letting him win early on and juicing him out later.

so he only deposit some for a house  but why not pay full instead of paying initial . his winning sounds huge to me though and for sure he can now afford to buy a brand new house  . that is also for his own good so that the money cant be touched and deposited back again on gambling  . i heard simillar rants before saying that when they win a really good amount they will also quit forever for good  . while i still see them playing , maybe they havent win huge yet  .  thats a good decision or comitment to do so  .  so that we can make a revenge somehow

It would be in very best for him if he be able to stay away from gambling and use that money on something productive. Easy wins is infamous in forcing people back to gambling until they lose what they earn. Gambling as an source of income doesn't work. It's best to gamble reasonably.

Definitely extremely lucky Grin
The slot machine is my favorite game, and it's really a time-waster, especially if you are bored like in this "quarantine" period. But to win a jackpot is soo difficult. This guy, though Grin a man from heaven.

That is a great decision that he made after he wins so much money because if he continues playing gambling, he will lose that money without getting any winning. We must learn from that, which is if we win so much money, we need to quit gambling as soon as possible before things have changed. I agree with that lesson and don't spend that money fast because we need that money for our future.

I am sure that his luck comes to him at the right time and right place, so he gets the biggest winning in his life. He will difficult to get the same experience in the future because his luck will not come easily again.

This is guy is awesome, he has good self-control, not a normal thing that most gamble has and will do just in case they will win something this big. We actually don't know if he will gamble again or he will stick to what he had planned to never gamble again. Honestly speaking, if I was him there will be a part of me who would like to gamble and push my luck again. He should secure his fortune and start a business if he can or invest it somewhere.

I would do the same, for real, if I won this amount I would probably stop and enjoy the money for the rest of my life, this amount of money is enought to have a stable life if you invest correctly

To the guys thinking he will be back to gambling, there are controlled people who knows exactly the time to stop

Just give him few days or probably weeks and he'll definitely return back to gambling most especially when he realized he didn't invest wisely via his spending. The issue with quick/free money is that it comes with the mindset that since you had luck previously, you can easily win such amount or even more if you try again. Some even go to the extend of repeating the routine of the day they won the bet.

Those giving him investment advice should also understand in times like this, as a result of not been prepared he might panic and rush into securing an investment asset but end up picking the wrong asset which will cost him his investment capital. It's recommended to stay calm, think through you decision before executing them. Anyways congratulations to him for his win.

Yeah, I will do the same after that.
Just walk away. Live a handsome life.
Look for a better way to earn money and forget gambling.  Grin

We have different views when it comes to winning big prizes. Some just want to gamble more since he have the spare until he lose it all again.
Some would do the same as Josh. I think many of us here will do the same if we are on his foot.
