[FT] AC Milan 0 - 2 Inter Milan

AC Milan didn't have power when they faced Inter Milan in the first leg of the UCL semi-finals, even though in reality they had dominance in possession, but that was not enough because the most important thing to get victory they didn't have (attack).

Inter Milan dominated from the early minutes of the match and managed to score 2 goals in the 8th and 11th minutes which were scored by Dzeko and Mkhtaryan. Overall this match was a bad game for AC Milan, I'm not sure AC Milan can do much in the second leg later.
Another underwhelming Milan derby I was so excited for this game because it has been a long time since any Milan teams has progressed this far in the CL since Inter Milan won it in 2010 with the likes of Milito and the rest. I didn't expect AC to make it this easy for Inter Milan to progress to the final because there is nothing more to play for in the second leg, and a two goal advantage is a huge one to overcome. Inter Milan should be proud of themselves for winning the league last season and being so close to reaching the CL final this season. Three years ago, the team was a pure midtable team fighting for a Europa league spot. They might not win its worth it.

to say that inter has already passed the round is completely wrong! there are still 90 minutes to play and everything is still possible, of course for inter having a 2-goal lead means a lot, but i wouldn't give up milan so easily
In every game, there must be a winner and they winner do take advantage of its opponent weaknesses to win the game. Tonight, Inter Milan has taken the advantage of AC Milan weakness to win the game. AC Milan players are not complete on the pitch because some of them are tied down with injury. If not for this,I don't think that Inter Milan will be able to win this game. A magnificent performance from Inter Milan tonight, which has given them an upper hand of qualifying to the finals after they defeated AC Milan 2-0 in the first leg of the semifinals. The second leg will not be that interesting anymore if AC Milan injured players hasn't recovered yet. The reason of  this is that Inter Milan will still win them in the second leg.

I don't entirely agree, Milan only had Leao and Florenzi injured, Leao is their most representative player but I doubt he could have turned the tide of the match! Inter left Milan no way out in the first half, scoring 2 goals in a few minutes and came close to the third with chalanoglu, and she never let ac milan shoot on goal, in the second half she was more concerned with managing the advantage than pushing again for a more substantial victory and conceded more! but on paper the inter is clearly stronger than milan, moreover it must be said that there could have been a penalty and a red card from krunic for a foul on Bastoni. The return match will certainly be a fire match

Manchester City drew with Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium Hopefully Pep Guardiola will be very happy for his boys with this result. Because Manchester City played the first match at the away ground. Pep Guardiola only wanted one result from his players in the first league match.  But all his plans revolved around the second league match Etihad Stadium.
Real Madrid's win against Manchester City at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium was much needed.

Unfortunately I was unavailable to watch the match due to some urgent matters that came up but I wasn't impressed from the highlight I have seen so far, there were lots of shooting from both side but they could only produced one goal each. Though this was a high rated match and even though the match was to end in draw atleast it should be two goals and above draw and not 1:1 scoreline. My speculation for this game was for Manchester city to win by two goals then we wait for Real Madrid to come to the Etihad and perform their comeback to progress but as it seems Real Madrid might be on their way home.

Haaland was ghosted but he'll definitely give the fans something to brag about at Etihad stadium, Manchester city has been very dominate this season especially when they play at Etihad stadium so Real Madrid better come with their A game or go home. Manchester city dominated the first leg but got outsmarted by Real Madrid due to their directness. Real Madrid attacked whenever they go the ball and that's why they scored first. In the return leg, Manchester city needs to kill the game on time as if they let Real Madrid into the game then they'll pay heavily for that mistake.

But where is the twist in the logic that because they haven't won a cup in a long time, they are now more destined to win it? Lincoln City from League One in England also hasn't won a cup in a long time, perhaps it's their turn very soon? Cheesy

In terms of Milan beating Napoli without difficulties, I think we watched different games or you are talking about a different year / season. Napoli was the better team in both games, but Milan scored the goals. That is soccer. But in the second leg Napoli had one of these games where you can do whatever you want, but you can't score. They dominated the game like they've never dominated Milan before ever. But Milan was able to resist the constant pressure with a lot of luck and won the game. Calling the second leg a win without difficulties could serve as a new definition for purely result oriented assessment of a game. The team won the game? Ok, then it was without difficulties, no matter what actually happened during the game.
You have answered your own question. It's football and whoever scores the goals wins. Manchester City, for example, have never won a cup at all, but for some reason almost everyone believes they will win it this year. These are the final matches where you can expect any outcome. Milan now have a 25% chance of winning the Champions League. There may be no logic in the fact that they haven't won in a long time, but you can't deny that they're a contender to win. Cheesy

Haha come on be fair, I never asserted that! I never said they can't win it, I only said that concluding that AC Milan is now ripe to win it because they haven't won it in a long time doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Even now that they are behind after the game against Inter, they are still not out yet. It is almost inconceivable that they can still turn this mess around now, but I would not deny that they still have a chance because they do for as long as they are willing to play the next game and not stay home. Cheesy

The discussion about Manchester City and their role as a favorite is quite old by now, but it is still valid. I have somewhere seen the analogy here that if someone puts a gun to your head and says that you have only one chance to pick a team that wins the tournament, which one would you pick? I assume that most of the threatened would say Manchester City, and would you? Wink

I think it won't have much effect on teams as big as Real Madrid and Manchester CIty to play home or away, and with Agg still drawing, both teams still have the same chance and opportunity to advance to the final even though the second leg will be played at home to Manchester. City.
Even if the impact is still small but at least it gives impact tot he club. The mentality from real madrid will be tested in the second leg. I saw how manchester city was quite dominant in the first leg. It was making real madrid feels so difficult in the first leg.
in the first leg match Manchester City was able to control the game very well in the first half and it was seen in the second half there was a change in tactics for the two teams so that the two teams' games were a little even, apart from the 1-1 score in my opinion Manchester City's style of play was too much control Ballposition can be read and defended by Real Madrid by relying on counterattacks.
that's it. Manchester city thought that if owning the ball possession will help the club to build attack easily without any problem.
The main problem if grealish  and haaland being guarded by carvajal and rudiger. They can't move anywhere. It's caused by bernardo silva can do nothing. City was concentrating its attack into the grealish and KBD.
so I think in the second leg later, anything is still possible and very difficult to predict, this is the battle of the 2 best European teams at the moment and their battle is really fierce.
As long as real marid will be showing better performance than the first leg. it's possible for madrid to win the second leg.

In the overall performance Inter Milan were more composed, had much hunger to score goals and made good use of their chances to get those two goals in the first half and also defended the goal till the end of the match even when it seems like AC Milan were waking up from sleep they were so organized not to concede any goal from away. Inter Milan didn't defend all through rather they understood the pattern in which AC Milan used to defeat Napoli so they were going front and also makinh sure they return back once they lose possession of the ball.

I agree with his perspective on the game and add that one of the main reasons for Inter's excellent play was the trio of midfield players.
It was notable that Hakan Çalhanoglu refused to fill in for Marcelo Brozovic when he was injured... and Nicolò Barella proved that he remains the "engine" of the team, setting up the game well and marking the opponents very well.

Finally, I cannot fail to praise the new element in the team.... Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who played a very important role in this victory, he arrived from Rome as a "simple" attacking midfielder and is surprising.

You see... the success of Mkhitaryan's entry into Inter's midfield was so great that even Marcelo Brozovic, who is such an important figure at the club, has been a substitute for the trio who entered the field to remain in the starting lineup

Inter were fantastic today, especially at the start of the game, they were quite aggressive and effective. So the 2 goals in the first minute of control, namely the 8th and 11th minutes, were really astonishing and made Milan's mentality even more down. After that, Inter played more defensively, so that at least they had secured 2 goals and made a strategy so that Milan could not penetrate Inter's goal no matter what. Inter's victory at home to Milan was quite surprising, but at the same time it gave an advantage for Inter in the second leg later.

I don't know how Ac Milan had this performance at the beginning of the game but I know except for the first minutes of the game, both teams had good performance and they were both close. While even in the second half of the game Ac Milan had better chances and they could at least score one goal to have an easier game in the second leg but they fail and the game finished with a 2-0 result.

It was not a surprise to me that inter Milan defeated with  ac Milan in today's match with 0-2 because before this match started I quoted a comment that was saying ac Milan is good enough to won the game but I quoted the post that that the worst I expected from inter Milan against ac Milan in today's match is draw but I said, I don't see much potential in ac Milan securing victory in today's match. seriously I am very impressed with inter Milan victory.

I saw some bad performances from some important players of Manchester City. Haaland wasn't effective at all in this match. He found a few chances only but wasted all of them generously. De Bruyne was also not very good with his passes actually but he finally did what do the best again. It was a superb shot and goal by him that it was too difficult for Courtois to save that shot.

Haaland was not that effective on the pitch yesterday it is because he doesn't receive much creative passes from other players especially from de bruyne that always creates does nice passes. As you said that de bruyne was good with passes yesterday I agree with you, and that is the reason why Haaland did not pay to our expectations that yesterday too. infact Haaland doesn't have good spaces that yesterday to creat good chance with ball because rudiger was really given him a very close markings yesterday.just know any match de bruyne didn't play every well, it will be hard for Haaland to productive too.

I saw the weakness experienced by Ac Milan in the counter attack. Inter always take advantage of this opportunity and what's worse is that Ac Milan never learns from that mistake. This can be seen from Inter's 3 wins in the last Derby match including the match earlier. Milan 0-2 Inter (UCL), Inter 1-0 Milan (Serie A), Milan 0-3 Inter (Supercopa) and these are 3 wins for Inter, in 3 different competitions. For Inter, with this victory, they have one foot in Istanbul.

AC Milan wasted the advantage playing at home, they even scored no goal. They actually played not so badly, they dominated the ball possession and made 13 shoot attempts. Sadly, their attackers have no good accuracy in shooting. It indicates that AC Milan needs a chance in their attacking line for the next season, especially for the striker (CF) position. AC Milan needs a new striker that has better quality than Giroud or Origi.
Yes, agree with your opinion, Ac Milan really wasted the advantage of playing at home, especially during the second half. Even though in the second half, Inter's strategy had lowered the tempo of the game and made substitutions, maybe for rotation to maintain the fitness of players in Serie A it seems, considering that the top four positions (UCL zone) are still being contested by six teams.

In first 20 minutes thereabout of the game AC Milan were sleeping on bike in a way that looks like they had forgotten that it's a semi-final stage and more critically it's in their home and they were supposed to be welcoming inter milan with a tough tactical game and not the other way round as it is with 0:2 defeat in favour of Inter.

How well you use every opportunity you have gotten is what the game of football is all about in getting a win at the end of 90mins and that's the magic inter Milan has displayed. I don't see AC Milan turning the aggregates around in the second leg playing away as inter is definitely going to take dominance with a home advantage that inter Milan failed to capitalize on.

I must admit that I'm quite disappointed with Milan's performance in this match. I was quite confident that both teams would score in this one. Leao was injured of course but this was going to create some extra obstacle for Milan. However this was still a Champions League match so I waited for them to play their best game. But this was absolutely not their best game because they were so bad at finding the target. Only 1 out of 13 goal attempts was on target which was terrible for Milan.

Because of this I think Inter totally deserved this 2-0 win. It is a huge advantage before the rematch as well. Milan will really need Leao's extra contribution in the rematch as he is like the biggest star of the team now.

I saw some bad performances from some important players of Manchester City. Haaland wasn't effective at all in this match. He found a few chances only but wasted all of them generously.
Indeed, in this match, Haaland was not able to do much because his movements were really limited. Real Madrid players seem to have quite understood Haaland's game and how to handle it. But to be honest, Man City actually has other players who should be able to take advantage of the opportunities that some Real Madrid players are focusing on Haaland, but they are not. The match in the first leg was really tight. Both played very well and pressed each other. The draw here is quite satisfactory, and later in the second leg, Man City will probably play with more enthusiasm because they are at their home ground.

There already many kind of memes out on the internet about Guardiola and Ancelotti.  Grin  Despite all that tactic and strategies by Guardiola he still couldn't beat Ancelotti's simplicity. However I'm still favouring Manchester City to finish this in England.
Manchester City were expected to win in yesterday's match and they were surprised by Vinicius goal in the first half before being able to score the draw in the second half.
I find City ambition to pass got weakened, I mean they whether underestimated Real Madrid performance or either overestimated there..
Since this match is played in Santiago Bernabeu then City could be called lucky. Next match will be played Etihad Stadium in Manchester and that will be a different story.
This time in the second leg, City will not be afraid from Real Madrid's comeback Roll Eyes

Real Madrid coach knows that those two players are very dangerous players in Manchester city and have to do everything possible for them to put those two players under control, but unfortunately De Bruyne was still able to secure a goal for Manchester City which leads to equalizing the match. If you noticed Benzema was also hidden in the match, he was not also given any chance by Manchester City defenders, but Vinicius Junior was able to make a strike which Ederson couldn’t save. The two coaches know the players that might be dangerous so they did everything to stop those players that was why Haaland, De bruyne and Benzema was lost in the match.

in my opinion City went into this game looking for a draw and not a victory, it was clear that City was trying to control the ball to gain time and leave the game with a draw, that's because City is saving players for the games of the premier league and also at the same time that they didn't want to leave this game against real madrid with a defeat, at least it wasn't a defeat of 2 goals difference, the manager of manchester city is a very intelligent person, he knew very well that the most important thing was not to chase a victory at home for real madrid, that would be a very risky task, they could risk conceding many goals, but leaving with a draw will make city still have much more chances than real madrid

so city came out with a draw and in the second leg they will play on the attack, that is in the second leg city will play very seriously, and they will have chances of winning, but that will also depend on the premier league game against everton , a defeat or draw against verton could make the city coach evaluate which players to put in the game against real madrid looking at the game against chelsea, because for city to win the premier league and their priority, but of course this does not mean that they will give up the champions league

i didn't see milan winning that game, inter after going through a crisis in which they only lost recovered and started to win games it was already expected that they would win in that game against milan that doesn't have a good squad in my opinion, and It's true that Milan has Giraud, Rafael Leao and some other players and sometimes Milan has been good, then it freaks out and starts to play badly, so Milan is more unstable than Inter and when playing against each other I I always prefer inter

What a powerplay in the first 45 minutes. 2 regular goals in 11 minutes, that surprises me too. In the 15th minute, a big chance to the 3:0 but Calhanoglu hit the post. In minute 31 a penalty that reviewed by the VAR: wrong decision Boy the referee. Inter Milan with 11 shots on goal, only 5 has AC Milan made it in the first 45 minutes. Dzeko showed with his goal that he is an important player. Good decision by Simone Inzaghi to let him play, i was wrong at the beginning. In the next 45 minutes, Inter Milan will maybe play more defensive and work to win 2-0 today. Or maybe they can score a third goal.

It's quite funny that after the first two goals, both teams (you can already say both, since Milan were quite dangerous in the second half) had many chances, but so far the score has not changed. I think, taking into account the added time, there are 7-8 minutes left to play and it is unlikely that we will see goals and I'm probably happy about this - 1-2 is not much different from 0-2, but 0-3 is very different from 0-2. The current score leaves the significance of the second game although Inter will have a huge advantage.
I didn't expect a goalless second half from both sides, after the two goals in the first half,it wasn't easy for any of the side to score again. Though, the second half was more interesting that the first half because both teams played and created good opportunities for themselves but they couldn't convert those opportunities into a goal.

It is a pity that AC is a critical state at the moment and I don't think that they will be able to perform any magic to win the second leg and qualify to the finals. Inter will be playing their second leg on the same stadium. Let's remember that both teams play on the same stadium, so there is no home away for both clubs.
