That Xavi Hernandez and Barcelona team has potential to win the League games but not enough to make them win the Champions League. They had the best defense last season, seeing the recent signings they will go far than we expect.
Arsenal has proper depth now they lacked that last season, and another club to keep an eye on is Manchester City they have all it takes to win the Champions League again. Barcelona will not be able the win the Champions League not this season.

I just want to add, before that Xavi only used Busquets. after a series of defeats in the Champions League, plus several injured players. The key in my opinion is in a coach, I try to analyze from several clubs, sometimes what they do in their successful season then other clubs can have a formula to reduce it. One thing I observe is that these players are never tired and very strong to be injured. Halaad is a gift to the club and I know that he will also assist his club with lot of goals just as he did last season. I hope to see their performance soonest when the league starts this season.

The main reason is that after first few weeks, like maximum of 10 but probably less, teams will realize that Haaland is not their only scorer, and City is using him as bait, you fear him scoring, so others score easier. The result against arsenal has proven it. Barcelona needs to prove its capability to face serie a club as well once it's gonna face ac milan very soon. Barcelona was performing so good against real madrid but i don't know why barcelona's performance has been dropped so hard once it was facing another club from different league. Barcelona needs to strengthen its defensive line. I have no problem with attacking lines, but the defensive line is still having a lot of weakness.

If Barcelona feel their focus on the La Liga title could distract from their focus on the UEFA Champions League, I'd say Barcelona should definitely bet UCL. They won the La Liga title last season as well but they did not perform well in the Champions League last season. I noticed a considerable improvement in Barcelona's performance in the match against Real Madrid, which means that now is a good time for Barcelona to prepare for the Champions League. The team that Barcelona currently has can definitely do well in the Champions League if given the right plan and direction.

Now as Manchester City Real Madrid is considered as the favorite team in the Champions League, Barcelona will be considered as one of the favorite teams if they have the right plan and consistent performance.

Xavi has prepared the team to bring Barcelona to compete with other big clubs from different leagues, this time the toughest competition will come from the premier league team, Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United are the three teams that will give their best performances to survive in this competition. So it should not be as you have described above. For almost three consecutive seasons,  Manchester City has been the best team in the European Champions League, even when they did not lift the title.

Let me guess your question Sir, although it is too early to say this because we often see different champions in UCL. But I think they (Machester City) may will probably be in the second point, after capable to win trophy the Champions League maybe they can come back to good play again and even more solidly, the winning mentality is already within players of Manchester City. When playing in the Premier League they can also be consistent and can survive as champions again, it is possible they can do it again in UCL.
