I wouldn't say there's any luck in the Champions League, especially if we're talking about the final match. Although I thought Real Madrid and Manchester City would play in the final. And I didn't think that Inter would play in the final. Maybe this year someone can surprise me too.
Well as far as am concerned luck is always a factor when it comes to football but in most cases it usually doesn't come while sometimes the unexpected happens in the so called final games between the two last teams and sometimes the team we expect to be in the finals are not always the teams that makes it to the final and in such cases we might called it that the actual team was actually lucky.

If we relate everything, of course it will very much be related to luck. so we can't let go of luck, just like in football. however, in football there are coaches, players, tactics, strategies and systems that are applied. each team will try to do their best when playing their match. the rest, let the course of a match determine. if we refer to Inter Milan last season, they were very lucky not to meet strong opponents in the next rounds after qualifying from the group phase. the case is different with City, they have quality player resources and coincidentally City was on fire last season. it is fitting that City won the trophy with their consistency and performance at that time, and it was not just luck, but they deserved it. as for Madrid, they were defeated by City.

However, in football it is unique. things like this that we can attribute to luck, just like Inter in the group phase last season. Barcelona should be able to escape. unfortunately, with many players injured. plus, Xavi hasn't found the right pattern format yet. so, they had difficulties and even had difficulties against Inter Milan. by the way, this season, several teams are still being looked at as strong contenders to win the Champions League trophy. like Madrid, one of them, City, the representative from England, Munich with Kane. and perhaps, there could be surprises presented by this competition from round to round until the final match. Well, let's just enjoy every match that is presented, especially for this round of 16 match.

If we talk about luck, it seems to me that Barcelona were helped only by luck that they were able to take the first place in the group, although they did not have strong opponents. If we look at Inter's game, we can say that luck is only a small part of it.
Agreed, barcelona will not be qualified to this round if it was placing at the difficult group. Barcelona is lucky enough this season caused by it was always performing so badly with it. In fact, barcelona needs to strengthen its club but it has no money to be used. This has become another problem for barcelona caused by the club is trying so hard to make sure it can raise some money to buy some new players. Im thinking barcelona is having higher probability to go down again soon.

It is anticipated that Barcelona will not succeed in passing this round, and in the event that Barcelona does manage to progress, I hope that they are drawn against Bayern as their next opponent. Bayern will become a very good opponent for barcelona caused by we do know that how bayern was always sending barcelona out from UCL. This season, Bayern is showcasing a remarkable level of strength, and based on that, I have doubts that Barcelona will be able to secure a victory in the UEFA Champions League. It's participating in UCL caused by it was helping club to get more money.

But aren't you mixing up two competitions here? Regarding La Liga, Barcelona was doing way better last season and their defense was particularly strong compared to the rest of the league. But in the Champions League they failed to advancd to the next round. Yes the group was easier this season, but they did make it and now we will see what their overall condition is. In La Liga it is not what anyone would have hoped for and I don't see a lot of potential for them to improve.

Napoli has its own set of struggles and this is what may ignite some hope within them. But Napoli is still Napoli and we will see one team that is in bad shape getting confirmed as one of the losers of this season.
we cannot mix La Liga competitions with UCL or other leagues because the conditions will be very different if they are already in UCL. a team that looks weak in the domestic league can become very strong in UCL and this situation cannot always be predicted but we can see it from performance in the group stage in that round we can see how strong the performance is to be able to continue in the next round and we also cannot ignore the surprise injury of players which can affect the team's performance.

what is certain is that Barcelona and Napoli are still in the same good condition, it's just that before the match starts we will definitely be surprised by something that will cause the team to lose.

I think it is rather the exception than the rule that a team which is performing bad in the domestic league is one of the strongest teams in the Champions League. Yes I know that now some people will come up with examples, like Sevilla and how they won the Europa League last season when they were so bad in La Liga. But where is Sevilla now? They finished their Champions League group with 2 points out of 6 games and got destroyed in almost every game. There is a correlation between the overall performance of a team in the league and the other competitions, but yes there are exceptions of course.

Copenhagen, Lazio, Porto, PSV and Leipzig get unbalanced opponents, I mean their opponents in the round of 16 are very tough. Of course, without underestimating the meaning of a surprise, the clubs I mentioned will most likely be eliminated early from the Champions League. However, they have the same chance and opportunity to advance to the quarter finals, and the club that is more favored must also be aware of the increasing strength of their opponents.

PSG vs Real Sociedad, I consider it equal even though the depth of the squad is very different, we know PSG current situation. Barcelona vs Napoli, the meeting of the two defending champions is also very evenly matched, representing their respective domestic competitions. Inter vs ATM, although statistically Inter is better, ATM is considered a worthy opponent.

The transfer market will open soon, and the round of 16 matches will start in February. Automatically all contestants will prepare and upgrade their respective strengths. Some clubs with stable financial conditions certainly find it very easy to recruit players, while others are experiencing a crisis that is preventing them from actively moving forward. Madrid, Bayern and City are still many people favorite clubs, waiting for February is very boring.

But isn't it always like that when most of the big favorites come first in their group and then they are playing against one of those runner-ups, which are usually not as strong or otherwise they would have finished the group stage first.

It is only when some of the favorites struggle and come second in the group stage. That's when we have early round games like Real Madrid vs. PSG or something like that. It's good because now we know that we will most likely have some nice quarterfinals to watch.

This is the only good game in the round of 16 in this champions League, if you ask me the winner of this leg can be one of the potential candidates to reach the final at least, Inter reached last year, but i think it was more a luck draft than a good team.
I wouldn't say there's any luck in the Champions League, especially if we're talking about the final match. Although I thought Real Madrid and Manchester City would play in the final. And I didn't think that Inter would play in the final. Maybe this year someone can surprise me too.

Inter Milan reaching the final last season could be said it was a luck game for them. We knew from the semifinals that the winner between the match of Manchester City and Real Madrid will win the Champions League and that was what happened. They were lucky to have met with AC Milan in the semifinals, if they’d meet any of Manchester City or Real Madrid, they wound be eliminated before reaching the final match.

Barcelona had a fairly good group the thing that got them easily promoted is that they won their home matches and that’s one thing about playing the champions league, win all your home games and try to take some points off your opponents in the away games

Even at that, their matchup was very good for them. They had teams they were superior over playing with them and that gave them a good opportunity to win most of their matches to top the group and advanced to the round of 16. For now, they still have a good chance to qualify further to the quarterfinals since they will be meeting Napoli whom are not in good form also. If Barcelona makes it to the next stage, they could meet a bigger team that won’t make it easy for them to qualify further. They did well by reaching this stage but they need to do better to advance to the next round in d the competition.

There is no need to debate luck, all teams need it regardless of the good performances of their players in the group phase and in the final match. Barcelona won the group stage this season because of luck, but of course that is not the sole reason why they won the group. Xavi and his players did a good job even when things didn't go to plan. Barcelona couldn't win all their matches like Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, but Barcelona qualified as group winners.

Barcelona should find Napoli a worthy opponent in the round of 16, so it's one of the most exciting matches to look forward to. The Inter vs Atletico Madrid match was also good, while Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Manchester City didn't have too tough opponents. They are the favorites, except for Barcelona and Napoli which are difficult to predict.
In as much as a team needs some bits of luck to win the UEFA champions league competition, it's also very worthy to note that winners of the competition in the past years are clubs that were very good during games and didn't reach the final because of how lucky they were. You'll have to be very solid to be able to conquer Europe bit just being lucky.

Barcelona as we all know is one of the traditional clubs in Europe and Ave won the competition several times before now but their current squad I don't think possesses the strength to reach the semi final of the competition this season talk more of playing in the final. They play Napoli in the round of 16 of the competition and I expect that tie to be a difficult one for the both teams.

Considering the current situation for both teams I think both teams, Barcelona and Napoli are not in good form. Barcelona has many injured players and they are far from the good form we saw from them in the last season and Xavi is under pressure. Also, after the summer when Napoli started working with Garcia, they couldn't have good performance anymore and even after getting Rudi fired from this team, they are not still in the good form.
I think if Barcelna's injured players get back to play in the field they can definitely have more chance for this match they are going to have against Napoli.

Strange, but I think it's unlikely that luck helped Barcelona to take the first place in the group, because they really did not have strong opponents in the group, if it was a group of death and they took the first place in it, then yes, we can talk about luck, but not in this case.

Luck happen to clubs that have no evidence of putting up a show against top opponents, they just exists in the tournament to eliminate the top challengers without stress, they might be playing absolutely nothing encouraging on the pitch but they can stand out to become very competitive and threat. Luck are merely used for clubs that are struggling and we know how these things works. The UEFA Champions League competition was build for top clubs and only these clubs can become top competitors for the UEFA Champions League in every season. Barcelona fought really hard to qualify from their group and there's certainly we should consider about the club. No luck for the Blaugrana.

Whether it's luck or not, what is certain is that Barcelona has done their best and is better than last season because they were finally able to qualify from the group qualifying stage. This is the phase to look forward to. However, in the round 16 phase, this is a quite difficult first step to take and will really face a difficult opponent. Especially if you qualify for the next round. of course the challenges will be even higher. It's just a matter of how Xavi prepares and manages his team to get through it all optimally.

Their next opponent will be Napoli. Luckily Napoli's condition is not as strong as last season so Barcelona still has a chance. Both of them are actually not as strong as usual in previous seasons. But I'm sure they will really go all out in this UCL match. because after all, UCLN is the dream of all clubs to win it.
You describe the situation well, Barcelona journey to face Napoli is still difficult to predict at this time, we need to wait until the last 16 match starts again. Xavi definitely understands his responsibilities, taking his club to the next round, and even has the ambition to reach the final. However, the challenges they face are certainly a benchmark for looking at Barcelona opportunities in the future, they might be able to beat Napoli, but will face tougher opponents in the quarter finals.

To be able to talk a lot at UCL, Xavi needs to add depth to the squad, evaluating and minimizing deficiencies is his current priority. Because the transfer window will open soon, we know that Barcelona is experiencing a financial crisis, but they can recruit players without having to buy them. Promoting young players, or borrowing players from other clubs is one of the options available, if Xavi doesn't do that then it will be difficult for Barcelona to be successful in the UCL.

Well, it's true that luck belonged to Barcelona in the group phase because they were joined by a weak team, making it easier for them to lock their ticket to the round of 16 with the status of group winners. So, in the match in the round of 16, Barcelona will meet Napoli again, so they will probably have difficulty beating Napoli. In the Champions League this season, Barcelona must be able to show their best game to be able to beat their opponents in the round of 16 because Napoli this season will focus their energy only on the Champions League after they had difficulty competing in the domestic league.

Even though in comparison these two teams look equally strong, if you look at their hard work this season, I think Barcelona can go further in the Champions League this season. Xavi will not repeat his mistakes in the Champions League this season because he is supported by many quality players in their team so he must be able to maximize his opportunities as best as possible to beat Napoli in the first leg.

All teams that have won the Champions League title are the best teams, this is no exception. We all need to respect that and recognize their good work throughout the season in pre-match preparations leading up to winning the title. Luck is only one supporting factor, but the most important thing that needs to be considered is the team's hard work and persistence in trying to win.

Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester City are the 3 best teams in recent seasons in the Champions League, mainly because they are title winners. But I'm sure, not all teams playing in the Champions League will target the title, I mean prize money is another goal they are considering.

For the 2019-20 season, Paris Saint-Germain F.C, the runners-up earned a total of almost €126.8 million of which €101.3 million was prize money, compared to the €125.46 million earned by FC Bayern Munich, who won the tournament and were awarded prize money of €112.96 million.

Yes that's right. Actually, there is no need to debate about luck, because of course in every football match there must be luck but it must be accompanied by hard work from the team and Barcelona has done it well. Apart from that, Xavi also seems to realize this, they are not good in LaLiga and the Champions League, of course with the remaining time Xavi will learn from his mistakes. A club as big as Barcelona would look strange if it didn't sweep all the matches in the group phase even though the team there could be said to be below Barcelona in terms of quality.

Napoli's fate is the same as Barcelona, last season they won their respective groups but this season they have problems in their respective leagues. However, one of their bad things this season is that Napol's performance is worse than Barcelona, especially since Napoli have changed coaches, of course they need to adapt again to a new strategy under a new coach. So I will also predict that the 1st leg match will be won by Barcelona.

Without luck it's bullshit. Several teams that reached the Champions League final including Real Madrid because to luck. In one season, Real Madrid lost in the first leg in the knockout round, but they were always able to come back when they played at home in the second leg to reach the final. Isn't that luck other than just hard work and team ability?

Something like that never happens every season to the same team, in fact last season Real Madrid had to admit defeat to Manchester City until Manchester City finally won its first title in the Champions League. Luck is part of the result of a game, this includes sports and whatever you do.

Yes there are times teams get unlucky and another get lucky. But in sport before you get that luck you have to show character and tenacity to stand the test of time. I remember one of the matches in the games you pointed out. The Madrid miraculous win against Man City, i wouldn’t outrightly call it luck because the Madrid players showed character and were in believe until the end of match. The part were there was luck was Mendy Goal clearance from Grealish cross, that was the moment that saved Madrid.

If we talk about luck, it seems to me that Barcelona were helped only by luck that they were able to take the first place in the group, although they did not have strong opponents. If we look at Inter's game, we can say that luck is only a small part of it.

It will be a very interesting game, because both teams are in very good form now. Inter are probably even better than last season in the Champions League and I think they can be in the final again next year. Atletico Madrid are definitely unlucky that they will play against Inter.
This could indeed be possible for Atletico Madrid, but for now such an assumption is still too early because if Atletico Madrid is able to get better players in January, there might be a big change in their playing pattern in the Champions League later. Likewise with Inter Milan, because apart from having to be able to keep its core players from getting injured, Inter Milan also has to be able to target some of the best players in the transfer market in order to increase their strength this season.
They will definitely make some changes, including bringing in new players who bring a breath of fresh air to their game. I also still can't say whether Inter Milan will return with the same performance or not after a long break, as well as Atletico Madrid, they could come back with a better performance.
Overall this match will be difficult to predict with their status, indeed now Atletico Madrid is not better than Inter Milan, but their experience in the Champions League is also very long, so that might help them in the game.
The two coaches will clash strategies and show who is better than them. The 2 matches will be utilized by both clubs, especially when they are the hosts.

At the final stage, sometimes there are such matches that perhaps the team that will win the cup will be eliminated in the quarter-finals. This was how Paris Saint Germain was eliminated with its best squad. PSG, which normally could easily go to the final, was matched against Real Madrid. Although they won 1-0 in the first match, they were eliminated by losing 3-1 away. Luck is an important factor.

I think that Atletico Madrid are strong enough to eliminate one of the teams played in the finale of the previous season. Inter are still an impressive team which I must absolutely admit. Lautaro Martinez looks much stronger and more effective with his scoring capabilities this season. He is a deadly scorer for Inter now so one of Atletico Madrid's priorities must be to defend him as strong as possible.

But even if they become successful on this task Inter still have other really effective cards in their hand like Hakan Calhanoglu, Barella, Thuram and so on.  Smiley  I don't think Atletico Madrid would lose to them in Spain but they will need to fight really hard for a good result in Italy to be able to finish the job home later on.
Considering both teams performance in their domestic League, you will see that Inter Milan is more superior to win this match because they only lose one match so far this season, while Atletico Madrid has lost four matches in the Laliga this season, and if we look at it in some points of views, Seria A title is a bit difficult compared to Laliga, and for Inter Milan to still top the League by this time, they can beat Atletico Madrid just as you are thinking that Atletico Madrid will win them either.

It's true that Inter Milan were quite lucky last season. However, this season Inter Milan is stronger and more organized than the previous season. And I am quite optimistic about Inter Milan's performance in this year's Champions League. Inter Milan will face Atletico Madrid in the knockout round. Atletico Madrid is a strong team but their performance is quite erratic. I think we will see the dominance of Inter Milan in the round of 16. And it's no surprise that this team qualified for the finals. Inter Milan have this ability this season. Their key player Martinez is in excellent form.

As much as Inter Milan are currently in great form, Atletico Madrid are also playing impressively well now and the clash between them won’t be an easy one for either team. The match is amongst the biggest matches to be played in the round of 16 games in which the winner that will advance to the next round cannot be easily determined. I am not siding any team or given any of them an higher odd over the other, all I can say is that the two teams will give each other tough time for one to advance to the quarterfinals of the champions league match.

I don't believe Athletico Madrid can beat Inter Milan in the round of 16 because, in terms of quality players in a squad, I believe Inter Milan has more experience. Athletico Madrid and Inter Milan are now leading the league standings and I am confident they will win the league trophy. As far as I am concerned, I do not believe Athletico Madrid will defeat Inter Milan in round 16, and this is not because they are performing well in the league. I believe Athletico Madrid can be knocked out in round 16 because they are usually knocked out in the competition due to their performance when playing in the Champions League, and I believe they will be knocked out against Inter Milan again this season. Only Barcelona and Napoli in my opinion, will be very difficult games in the round of 16 because both of them were not in better shape like last season, and they are playing weaker games and they will want to fight each other to advance to the next round.
