Speaking of Real Madrid, I remember listening to a podcast after they lost to Liverpool a few weeks ago. One reason they lost according to some pundits was because many players were injured. Fast forward and it seems like most of them have returned, with Carvajal, Alaba, and Militao out. Not sure if this is up to date since I don't follow them closely, but their available players look good enough to win against Salzburg and Brest. Based on form alone, Salzburg should be easier compared to Brest. They don't play defensively afaik so Madrid can hurt them easily from transition. CMIIW.
Even if they still remain injured, Real Madrid still remains a superior team to Salzburg and Brest. Why do you even say that Brest will be difficult for Real Madrid to handle. Even Real Madrid castilla will be able to win them talk more of the main Real Madrid team which have the squad depth and quality of players capable of playing under pressure and achieving good results. I think both Salzburg and Brest do not even stand a chance of a draw against Real Madrid.
Madrid have a significant advantage over Salzburg and Brest, The depth of the squad and the quality of their players allow them to remain competitive even though there are some of their players injured at the moment, but we also can't forget that other players owned by Madrid can change the course of the game later, so far Salzburg is also in poor form in the Champions League so it is likely that they will not be a difficult opponent For Madrid, but Brest who in the previous match was able to maximize every match well, should still be a concern for Ancelotti not to underestimate them, I think teams like Brest and Salzburg could have given a surprise in the remaining two matches, especially if they played without burden and also with high spirit, of course they could have made Madrid difficult in the match.

Barcelona still has a chance even though it looks very small but no one knows how it will continue and most importantly they must have the ability to get to the semifinals so that it will give hope. Competition in the Champions League is not easy because mentality and experience may also be an important part.
Although have complicated problem after can't registering Dani Olmo in La Liga, recently Barcelona have bigger opportunity for qualifying to knock out round. Have two matches left against Benfica and Atalanta looks not difficult match for securing three points and have chance directly qualifying to knock out round. UEFA Champion League actually not easily but any teams have bigger opportunity to reach knock out round directly as the top eight standings finish.

As Madrid's fans keep expectation for the top eight standings finish although it bit difficult because Madrid have 4 points remaining from Lille who settled at 8th standings place, have two easily matches left can't guarantee yet for Madrid will reach the top eight standings if another teams have winning result at two matches left. Have three weeks left for the games week 7 begin and we can see any one teams will get eliminate or success qualifying to knock out round.

When a team's president is confident, he's doing exceptional brilliant for the club. Remind you, not all teams have a president like Real Madrid. We're referring to a president who wouldn't only be driving exotic cars and living in luxurious mansions, but discipline enough to map his strategies for the team. All compliments and applaud goes to Florentino Pérez who maintain the club to this very level. He was patience with the club and made few wrong decisions that costs him and the team and also made numerous good selective choices that brought them where they're today. Real Madrid comprises of big names and average players and they do come together to accomplish their goals. Prime Real Madrid remained the best form of the team.

In UEFA Champions league, they have zero competition, I'm confident about that statement. None of these teams can stand up and compete with Los Blancos because they don't have the odds and morale as a team. Salzburg and Brest can only compete and weigh strength which won't even be consider enough for to share points with Real Madrid. I trust Carlo Ancelotti and the players to display good game outcome because they're widely known for such brilliant results.

Overall, Real Madrid's strength is better than both teams and Real Madrid also has a strong mentality in the Champion League competition so I don't think they won't qualify for the play-off round regardless of the problems Real Madrid is currently facing, but in their last match when they were able to win at Atalanta's home ground, it was proof that Real Madrid is a solid team even though many of their main players are injured.

Real Madrid vs RB Salzburg on 22nd January at Bernabéu mean things could be well favourable for them and having easy win because Salzburg is currently in the worst situation due to their poor run in six games they have only one win against Feyenoord and their chances for top 24 almost ended now they are playing their remaining matches just for filling things with Real Madrid after this win could be in top 15 which mean chances are high for them to have spot into playoffs for next round which could be also not bad.

Brest is surely surprise package into this season with their performance in Champions League currently they are in top 8 and their next game is against Shakhtar Donetsk which is another worst team in this season and Brest can handle them for having their spot into top 8 but surely last game which is going to play in France could be interesting, but Real Madrid know how to have win and go through for next round.
This game seems good for Real Madrid. Salzburg is not doing well right now having only won one game out of six which makes it hard for them to be in top 24. If Real Madrid wins they might move into top 15 which would help them get spot in playoffs for next round. At same time Brest is doing better than expected this season and is currently in top 8. Their next game against Shakhtar Donetsk another team that not doing well is chance for Brest to keep doing well. But Real Madrid has a lot of experience and skill which will probably help them win and move on to next round.

Actually the goal of all clubs is to be able to enter the Final match, but with the strength they have they can't do anything, there's nothing wrong for Barcelona or Manchester City to take that part, even though they are aware of their current condition, anything can happen with a miracle but we can think realistically with the condition of both of them in the next few weeks, who knows they can both play as usual with the strength they have, but seeing other candidates who are more dominant it seems impossible for both of them because the top clubs this season are in a decline that we didn't expect.
That is the desire and hope of many clubs but to achieve this requires good support for the quality of the players they have and the luck that exists. Why do I say luck because some teams can enter the final and come out as champions because of this factor even though the struggle to achieve it cannot be ignored. We usually make predictions based on team performance, that's why Man City is not included in the criteria so far.

Barcelona still has a chance even though it looks very small but no one knows how it will continue and most importantly they must have the ability to get to the semifinals so that it will give hope. Competition in the Champions League is not easy because mentality and experience may also be an important part.

All teams qualifying for the knockout round can have the opportunity to advance to the next round. There is indeed a luck factor here, when they draw their opponents will determine the next path, whether they will get a tough opponent, or tend to be easier. Whenn entering the semi-finals, we will only see quality and strength, no longer luck, Where the team that will reach that round has given its best to be able to compete for the trophy.
I would not be surprised if I saw a team that currently managed to get a position in the top 8 could easily be eliminated in the knockout round.

There are a couple of teams that can rightfully express that the final is their goal. If you take a team like Barcelona and even Manchester City in their current form, it would be weird if they didn't say that they want to reach the final. There is no point for these teams in making themselves smaller than they actually are.
Why not? as long as there is a chance to qualify for the next phase even though using the play off route in the end the chance for the Final is still open to anyone including Manchester City, whose situation is currently still quite difficult.

Although indeed Manchester City's path for this season is not as smooth as usual and even happens also for several other clubs such as Madrid or Bayern, their chance to qualify by utilizing their remaining 2 matches is still very much possible especially to talk about finals which sometimes there are always surprises because the drawing that will determine this later can still be used as momentum in the end so that no matter how bad Manchester City's current situation is when their target is still the same as long as there is a possibility then they will definitely try to realize it especially for now.
Because a good start to the season does not determine the big club is destroyed until the end considering that player transfers are sometimes always a moment of reversal on several occasions if we refer to the seasons that have occurred.

RB Salzburg is very clear this season they are really bad in the Champions League. They have only won one match out of a total of 6 matches played. So yeah, I personally am quite sure that Real Madrid will really be the favorites without us having to doubt it.

The only thing that makes me doubt is the last match in this phase, namely because Real Madrid's opponent in the 8th match is Brest. Brest may not be very consistent in their own domestic league but in the UCL I think they are a force to be reckoned with. So Real Madrid cannot be careless when facing them. But even so, we can still favor Real Madrid because in terms of the quality and depth of the squad, we can still see that Real Madrid is much better.

I know the Champion's League format changed, but one thing I am a bit sure about is Real Madrid getting into the knock-out stages of the Champion's league. There have been far worse seasons in the recent times when some people believed Real Madrid would at least play in the Europa, but they never did. They always found their way out of the mess Grin

I am not even worried about the current injuries, based on the last few matches, they have been doing good. Mbappé is also finally gaining his confidence, which is something very critical for the team.

Ancelotti already made a bold statement that the club are going to play in the final, only Real Madrid can make such a statement and still make it to the final, it's their competition and they do know how to get result when least expected.

The target of winning can certainly be Real Madrid's target. Although the scenario I mentioned is still risky, but one win and one draw is quite reasonable if people judge Real Madrid's performance in the Champions League as not good based on the results received this season.
Against Salzburg and Brest, I believe that the result will be won by Real Madrid.
Salzburg is a team that is not strong enough in the Champions League this season and so far has only won one match in the Champions League so it is quite possible to expect Real Madrid to win when Real Madrid hosts them. Meanwhile, Brest, who is currently in the top seven of the Champions League standings, of course Brest will try not to lose points when hosting Real Madrid even though Brest will also have difficulty getting full points at home.
I am sure Real Madrid will beat both clubs in the remaining UCL matches because they are collecting points to qualify for the last 16, their points difference from the top 8 is only 4 points if Madrid can win those 2 matches, it is hoped they can occupy a safe position to qualify, but that is if the clubs ranked 3-8 lose points in their 2 matches, but I think it is quite impossible because those clubs must be trying to maintain their good ranking so that they do not participate in the play-off round for Brest itself, he faces Shakhtar, who is currently performing quite badly in the UCL.

Salzburg can still be targeted by Real Madrid for 3 important points that will help them maintain their automatic qualifying position. If they win over Salzburg, then Real Madrid's points will be 12 which will be able to maintain their survival even though they have to fight through the playoff zone.
In order to qualify for the next round even though there are two more matches left, I feel that they can qualify for the last 16 even though Brest is an opponent that can be considered tough considering their achievements during their six matches in the Champions League.
Real Madrid are only 3 points away from the top 8, and a win in two matches could change the table a lot, but on the other hand, those teams that are in the top also won't want to lose their positions. Maybe even if they can't get into the top 8, I have no doubt that they will make it to the playoffs. The difficulty will just be that they might get a tougher opponent in the early stages.
Real Madrid may be 3 points behind to take the top spot but the team that is at the top of the points table is already 3 points higher. If in the next match the number one team in the points table earns full points and Real Madrid earns the old points in the next match, there will still be a gap of 3 points between these two teams. Every season Real Madrid are more aggressive in Champions League matches but I didn't notice that this season especially at the beginning. Real Madrid have dropped points in several matches in the beginning so now they are failing to stay at the top of the points table. However, if Real Madrid cannot secure the second round from the top position, we can certainly expect that they will perform much better in the second round.

In my opinion, Real Madrid will probably be able to win, because of the bad records that RB Salzburg has had in their last few matches and again they only occasionally win matches in the Champions League, so I think Real Madrid will be able to get the full 3 points in this match, because The opponent they will face is not that strong even though this match is on paper for Real Madrid.
Victory over RB Salzburg will boost the players' confidence to win against Brest, they must be able to win the 6 points contested in the remaining two games to secure a position in the Play-off zone. Real Madrid increasing performance is a capital for them to maintain their previously increasingly slim opportunities, now Ancelotti can also rely on Mbappe because he has started to open his goal coffers in the last few matches.

yes, it is true that Real Madrid's self-confidence will definitely grow if RB Salzburg can be beaten by Real Madrid and of course Real Madrid will definitely appear full of confidence when they play against Brest, but it will definitely not be easy to beat Brest because Brest has a power that cannot be underestimated.

But yes, with Mbappe's current performance being good and his self-confidence getting better, Real Madrid will definitely perform well and of course Brest will not take Real Madrid lightly, yes, there will definitely be an exciting battle in that match. but to predict the score of the match, what do you think the score will be?
Before Brest plays against Real Madrid, it will of course play against Shakhtar and of course, with the results of that match, we will definitely be able to measure Brest's strength, how strong it will be against Real Madrid later. considering that the match will take place at Roudourou, I hope Ancelotti will be careful because it will definitely be different from playing at the Santiago Bernabeu.

As long as Pep Guardiola remains the manager of Manchester City, I will be be very optimistic about their chances. Pep’s ability to devise tactics to counter different opponents remains a critical advantage. PSG inconsistencies in big matches gives Manchester City an added advantage. Despite any ongoing challenges, Manchester City’s experience and tactical brilliance may still give them the upper hand against PSG.
Although it is difficult when viewed with the current condition of Manchester City which is facing many problems, but i agree with you, Pep Guardiola is a very experienced coach, many times helping Manchester City out of adversity and i'm sure it's no different from now, there must be a way out of what is happening internally at Manchester City, hopefully this storm will soon pass in order.

In general, all teams want to play in the final and win the trophy at the end of the competition, but the problem is their ability that can determine whether they are able to advance to the final or not. Ancelotti is very optimistic about his team's abilities, especially since they are also the defending champions. Real Madrid success in reaching the final depends on how they maintain their performance. I don't think Man City or Barcelona are capable of reaching the final, but I agree if someone says Liverpool will be a tough opponent for Real Madrid in defending the title they won last season.

Salzburg and Brest are two average team of which if comparing to Madrid I'm their former formthey would see this as a very easy game for them to win without necessarily having to really struggle because this two team....
If Real Madrid can always be consistent and optimal, both should not be a problem and obstacle for Real Madrid to get 3 full points in both matches. It remains how Ancelotti can make his squad really optimal and not miss so many chances again, including how to make Mbappe optimal for UCL.

--snipped--
I see you used a UCL result simulator from the UEFA official website? What is the "or" for in the first column when it says "Bayern or Dortmund" for instance? Will there be a drawing or is it fixed that 9th plays against 24th, which would clearly make most sense.
Because there is indeed a possibility that their position in the standings will still change, that's why there is an "or" or even it is not from both clubs. depending on how all the clubs will compete with their results in the last 2 matches. and yes, that is based on the simulator on the UEFA Champions League website. indeed, this new format still needs adjustment.

The injuries must have affected them but at the same time, it was looking as if the players were not that prepared for this season It is a good season and now things are looking better than the season, and that is why sometimes you don't judge the book by its cover because it is now looking as if Madrid is trying to maintain their old self that we all know, and we all know that circumstances are what is affecting Madrid, and now they are trying everything possible to do the right thing and even mabppe score almost in every game and this is a good sign that they will do everything not to lose there remaining games in the champions league we know that Liverpool is in a better position, and they should be able to win Salzburg and Brest. because that is their only chance now when they lose this then every other thing for this season has ended for them.
