There is no Champions League during the upcoming week. The same for the Conference League too. There is only the Europa League fixtures.

I'm going to miss the Champions League meanwhile certainly. Because the first week was really lovely with so many goals. There must be only a couple of ones without a goal. Bayern Munich started incredible. They lead the standings by far. Celtic and Leverkusen follow right after. Seeing Celtic there feels interesting.  Grin  But we are at the very beginning of this stage. They played one of their easiest fixtures early.

Top contenders didn't start very strong generally but I think they will make up for that. It is going to be hell of a busy schedule on the other hand...  Sad

Xabi Alonso's squad must go beyond their limits to keep up in the Champions League it's pivotal for Leverkusen to bag points in every Champions League clash, aiming to secure a place in the last 16. Looking forward, their showdown in the second round against a top tier club from the Italian League, AC Milan, is undoubtedly a mountain to climb. Although AC Milan boasts a wealth of experience in the Champions League, their recent form leaves room for concern, potentially swaying the odds in Leverkusen's favor it is definitely an advantage that the match will be staged on Leverkusen's home ground, in Germany.
With the new system in UCL, it gives Alonso a greater sense of enthusiasm to compete and try his best. We saw from his performance yesterday when playing against Feyenoord, Alonso looked very confident and continued to encourage the players to stay calm and control the ball until they could score big.
The opportunity for Alonso this season to prove that he must be able to compete with the top teams even though Milan is one of the popular teams from Serie A but currently Leverkusen is also one of the popular teams from the Bundesliga which is ready to make new history in pursuit of the UCL title.
A big task awaits Xabi Alonso in the Champions League, this is the right time for him to prove that he is a great coach. After his success in bringing Leverkusen to become champions last season, now he has to bring Leverkusen to talk a lot in the Champions League. Because there is still a narrative that his success last season was a matter of luck. Although I also agree that one of the factors is luck, the luck he achieved was thanks to the effort and hard work he did. Leverkusen actually has enough capital because in terms of chemistry it should have been created, because there are not many changes in the current squad, there are only a few players who come in and out. In the Bundesliga they did experience a slight decline, but they could improve even more in the future.

Even in the last season, I was hoping to see this strong and unbeaten team of Xabi Alonso playing against stronger teams like Real Madrid and Inter Milan from other leagues than the Bundesliga. But since they were in the Champions League it didn't happen and even in the game we saw from Leverkusen they were not playing against any of the teams while now Xabi Alonso can have a much harder season since they are playing in a greater tournament like the Champions League and consider the performance of Xabi Alonso and his players in the last season, the fans of this team now expect to see Leverkusen showing good performance in the Champions League.

Atalanta performance is really unpredictable, they have luck beyond the limit. The mentality shown by the Serie A representatives is really different in every competition, Arsenal are very lucky to survive the defeat, and David Raya deserves praise. Atalanta chances of qualifying for the last 16 are quite open, especially if they manage to make another surprise by drawing against Real Madrid and Barcelona. While with other teams they can target 3 points, that is part of the scenario that they will definitely run.
Atalanta is one of the teams that we rarely talk about but this team cannot be underestimated like when they played against Leverkusen in the Europa League final. I agree with you that Atalanta has a good strategy in prestigious competitions to defend not to lose points when playing against big teams and will appear very consistent when playing against weak teams. However, I doubt that Atalanta when they will face big teams that are more experienced like Madrid and Barcelona can hold a draw. I say this because Madrid and Barcelona have a great mentality in the UCL because they have more experience. On the one hand, Madrid can always achieve victory when they are in the second half and this will be very difficult for Atalanta.
Atalanta is indeed worthy of being called a dark horse in UCL this season, they always appear different when facing important matches, always making big teams struggle. Getting 1 point against Arsenal is a good start, talking about strategy, it seems we agree with Gasperini who targets a draw against big teams as a realistic way to survive in UCL and slowly approach the next phase, although on the one hand this method will not always work depending on who the opponent is because as you said Real Madrid always has a way to win the match and their mentality in UCL is not in doubt, on the other hand I think Atalanta still has a chance if you refer to the Barca match that lost against Monaco, it could be a motivation for Gasperini's troops and repeat what Monaco did even though the Blaugrana's defeat was purely the goalkeeper's fault but considering Atalanta has a solid defense the same opportunity still applies.

If Haaland can scores in this match he would broke the records of Cristiano Ronaldo as a player who can scores 100th goal in 104 matches but unfortunately he was failed to scores and seems Inter Milan players has been know how to stop Haaland because in this match Haaland unable to move freely so we can see it based on Haaland statistics for this match because he only have 3 shot with 1 shot on target so Inter Milan defensive players is really successfully to guarded Haaland and after this match some people has been talking about Inter Milan defender Francesco Acerbi because he can guarded Haaland with very well which make Haaland performing poorly in this match

I think one thing, it's not that Man City have played badly or less than on other occasions, it's that we have to Recognize that Inter under Inzhagi played a great game , not only did they defend very well , but the game made it look like the City players were attacking all the time , if we look at it we realize that the few attacks that Inter's forwards had were not effective because they missed the goals , but in reality the attacks they made were to end in goals , while City was running all the time to score goals that never came not even from Haaland.

True point and yeah, there is not much more to add. Whenever you are playing against Inter Milan, what do you expect? You never expect to score five goals and at the same time you know that when you concede one goal, you are about to lose the game. Inter Milan is about insane efficiency. There are not many teams that work like that. Pushing for the win works when you score early against Inter, but not when they resist the first 20 to 30 minutes without conceding a goal.

Atalanta in Serie A clearly still has not promised anything to secure a ticket for next season, because the journey is still quite far. While in the Champions League, their first match failed to convert a goal against Arsenal at the white point. So let's say they are still able to match Arsenal but among the 8 matches Atalanta will meet Madrid again. To qualify for the group stage, they may still be able to get it, even though it seems they have to enter the play-off round.

If Atalanta can maintain their performance to continue to perform well in the Champions League, I think their toughest opponents from 8 matches are Madrid and Barcelona. it will be quite tough but at least they can try to keep getting 1 point from the match against Madrid and Barcelona. and they can win the other matches. if they lose to Madrid and can hold Barcelona to a draw, there is still a scenario that Atalanta will qualify for the next round.

But in any case, the Champions League match will never be easy. all teams try their best to get points. currently, 15 teams get victory points in the first match of the Champions League. it is nothing because everything can change in the second match. those who get consecutive defeats in 2 matches may be slightly affected mentally.

It may be quite surprising with the result, but if we look at the statistics, Arsenal really is not that good this time (except Raya).
Arsenal are fortunate to have a goalkeeper as great as Raya who was able to ward off an Atalanta player's penalty kick and followed it up with a classy save when blocking the rebound. If it wasn't for him who performed brilliantly under the crossbar, perhaps Arsenal would have lost at Atalanta headquarters. Yes, maybe Arteta prefers to play cautiously to prepare his team for another Big Match against Manchester City in the EPL. Arsenal back line plays very well but was not matched by the midfielder and front lines, perhaps this is a lesson for Arteta who does not want to bring in a new striker at the start of the season.

Ngl Arsenal are so fortunate, when you look back at the time when Ramsdale was the first choice in goal and Arteta was bringing in Raya, everyone was in panic and asking “why do we need Raya”; “why is Ramsdale benched for Raya?”; “Arteta what are you doing?”.  I think we all have got the answer to those questions now because Raya has been outstanding for Arsenal in important games. The issue of a striker will be attended to in January, Victor Osimhen may still be in Arteta’s plan.

Atalanta definitely keeps getting better than expected results for a while now and I am sure that we are going to see them have some sort of great result this season overall. I am expecting them to get out of the group stages with this new system, it is going to be definitely be something that will be quite good and we know that it is going to be hard and not going to end up being that great for them if they fail because they are growing so great and a step back would be tough for them, they are going forward and being out of the group stages would be good enough.

Plus, maybe they will finish strong this season at Serie A and directly go to UCL next season, that will make sure that they keep getting 30+ million or so every year and would help them grow a lot more with that kind of money.

In my opinion, no result at the group stage can be considered unexpected - for top teams, this is the second (if not third) priority. If a serious team loses points in the group stage, this will not change anything - it will still get to the playoffs (even if through an additional playoff). But if a serious team loses points in the national championship, this can be critical for the entire season. Therefore, at the group stage, weak teams (for whom participation in the Champions League is not routine) have increased motivation and can beat stronger teams that lack motivation.
I will not try to dispute this point of yours as it's very much valid but then I will like to call your attention to another aspect of these teams, which I believe id you carefully consider, you will see reasons as to why to an extent the results this big teams get at this stage of the champions League does matter, one of them is the psychological effect it will get in them and how its going to affect their confidence throughout the champions League tournament, and you may ask me how, if a team has recorded poor results in this group stage, trust me their minds can go messy based on the priority places on the champions League, they can aswell loose confidence facing bigger teams beyond this stage that's if they get passed it, so for me every stage matters a lot a s has got a lot to do with their chances of succeeding in the league mostly beyond the current stage.

Well, for big teams the tournament significance is only to get/not get into the top 8 and avoid the intermediate playoffs. Hardly anyone seriously believes that Liverpool/Milan/Atletico or any other serious team can be eliminated at the group stage.
As for the mentality, I agree with that, but still, given the busy calendar and the many unnecessary/unimportant games at any level (Nations League, national cups, friendly games, etc.), even that has already changed and players don't lose confidence if some unnecessary game ends badly.

Yes it was a tough match for Xabi Alonso's troops but thanks to their previous victory which was able to beat Feyenoord with a big score I'm sure they will appear more confident especially even though Milan is a top club in the Italian League but their recent appearance has shown their inconsistency in their own League and in the UCL they also just suffered a defeat against Liverpool so I think that also affects the mentality of their players. Last season Milan's performance in the UCL was also bad and they did not qualify for the last 16 so I think Milan will experience the same fate this season if they do not fix their bad performance.
You make a valid point regarding AC Milan and their recent performances. Their inconsistency in the Italian League and UCL, paired with their troubling defeat against Liverpool can indeed impact the mentality of their players. Leverkusen's triumph against Feyenoord has likely boosted their confidence significantly, crucial heading into a fixture with a team of AC Milan's caliber.
Considering Milan's subpar performance in the UCL last season, Leverkusen may have this advantage. However, football is an unpredictable sport and with proper adjustments, Milan has the potential to put a lot on the line for Leverkusen. A lot rides on how both teams will come out on the field and manage the game. But indeed, the home ground advantage can play an integral part for Leverkusen.

Your analysis in regards to the Arsenal match against Atalanta is accurate but there inability to make use of there opportunities on that match made them to lose the three points they would have gotten from Arsenal, so with how the match went Arsenal was more benefited even if they did not win because they escape wining from Atalanta.

However even if Atalanta has performed that much but we shouldn't be too sure about there road mad on this champions League because they have not really meet those club that are considered one of best in champions League because we have seen how most clubs perform in few of there champions League matches but before we no they have falling out of line.
Regardless of the final result, it must be admitted that Atalanta played quite well, they were even able to dominate the match against the strong Arsenal team, overall Atalanta was good but they were just unlucky.
However, I do not think too much because at the beginning of the season or the first match, several teams have not found their best performance so it is difficult for us to measure their true strength.
And for competitors in the Champion League, it is always fierce and Atalanta will certainly have difficulty with that even though from the first match they showed that they seemed ready to compete fiercely.
Arsenal have being in their best performance and I don't think that they need anytime for them to be able to display their best performance. Atalanta who we saw as weak was able to play good football against Arsenal and Arsenal was lucky if not it would have been a defeat for them.

Arsenal should prepare themselves properly for their next UCL match so that it doesn't end up in a draw because it will not be good if Arsenal is kicked out from the group stage because they're bigger than this.

Arsenal appears to have been satisfied with the result since they had trouble breaking Atalanta's goal. However, this result confirmed that Atalanta can play at the highest level and maybe still have the potential to go further.

And if able to keep the form in the domestic league by collecting point after point and getting great results in European competitions, their future is promising. Also, Moreover, with the profitable Champions League financial system, qualification for the UCL would bring significant financial backing to the team's future development.

The two clubs played well in the match, which I expected even before the match started, and I know the two clubs are strong clubs, but I never expected a draw in the match. I was expecting Manchester City to win the match, but the result of the match was just kind of surprising to me, and I was kind of disappointed in Manchester City in the match. Most people which I know that placed bets in the match, bet on Manchester City to win, which I also did, but a draw in the match was a disappointing one.

While many will argue that both are great clubs but it's always going to be clear that City is the better team and they were playing at home even with their goal machine yet they got outperformed by a seria A side. We're talking about a team that turned the premier league into a farmers league and won it 5 times in a row.  The only reason why I was gutted after the match was because I had City to win in over 3 separate parleys and they messed up all slips. It was even more painful to watch Gundogan missed those chances in the second half.

Both of Monaco vs Barcelona and Atlanta vs arsenal are not a huge surprise as many people are portraying it. Atlanta were the Europa league champions beating last season Bundesliga winner Leverkusen. Monaco too is a second team in french league last season. Both of Atlanta and Monaco were playing at home. Manchester City vs Inter Milan was much surprising for me. But its first round of league and there are plenty of matches to be played.

Atalanta performance is really unpredictable, they have luck beyond the limit. In domestic competition, Atalanta is currently unstable, but their chances of finishing in the Champions League zone are still very open, because there are still many matches ahead. The ambition to finish in the top four of the standings is the most realistic target, and they do have the potential to do it. Obviously, the advantages they get will help them in many ways, so that in the end they can maintain their existence as an elite club in Serie A.

Atalanta had a good start to the season and put in solid performances in several competitions. But it is unfortunate that in their recent match against Arsenal, they could not secure a win, statistically having been the better side and more attacking of the two. They had many opportunities and ball circulation was good but obtained only with a final result of 0-0.
