Atalanta's performance in the Champion's League so far has been commendable, especially considering they are the defending Europa League champions. Their chances of advancing to the last 16 are indeed promising, given they need to face only Arsenal, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, and they have already secured a point against Arsenal.
There are still many opportunities for Atalanta to advance to the last 16 because there are still seven more matches to gain points before going to the next round and of the seven matches that Atalanta will face, the toughest are probably only when they face Real Madrid and Barcelona. In addition, there are no opponents who can make it difficult for Atalanta to get full points in this round because apart from Barcelona and Real Madrid, I think the other five teams that Atalanta will face are fairly easy teams for them.

Atalanta's opponents
Quote
Real Madrid (Spain),
Arsenal (England), Draw
Celtic (Scotland)
Sturm Graz (Austria) at home,
Barcelona (Spain),
Shakhtar Donetsk (Ukraine),
Young Boys (Switzerland)
Stuttgart (Germany) away.

You're right that Atalanta's toughest opponents will be Real Madrid and Barcelona. They will miss three points against these clubs.

But it's hard to call the rest of their opponents easy to beat. They still have to play a German club (Stuttgart) and a Scandinavian club (YB). Both are hard-to-beat teams. And i expect them to potentially miss points in these matches, too.

And i don't mind with the rest of their opponent, but Celtic may give them trouble.

~snip~
Celtic performance in first game of this season in UEFA Champions League were amazing because no one were expecting result like this while Slovan Bratislava is also good team and having top spot in Slovakian League, but things were completely surprising in this first game of Champions League with Celtic were dominating from the start and until end we are having 5 goals from them which is amazing stuff now they are having next game against Dortmund which is also at his prime with having good result against Club Brugge now next game is going to be challenging for the Celtic as they can keep momentum, or we will have easy win for the Dortmund.

Stuttgart is also not bad at all even they lost against Real Madrid, but we can expect good performance from them in coming matches as they are having good fight back against Dortmund in Bundesliga game and now next game they are going to play at home against Sparta Prague which is going to be interesting with Stuttgart is heavy favourite for the win in this game.

You are right. Celtic performance is good in the Champions League, and we should be expecting a good result from them in their coming I don’t underrate Celtic in anyway because I know what they can be capable of doing, which is why I said we should underrate them. However, Celtic against Dortmund, I will still give Celtic a chance of winning the game because, judging from their previous performances, it can be denied that they are doing well. Dortmund are not showing that good result that Celtic are currently bringing out, which is why I’m curious if they can win Celtic.

As of Stuttgart against Real Madrid, we all know how good Real Madrid is, and they can’t even play Real Madrid talkless of winning them, so I don’t think everybody expects winning from them against Real Madrid. But still, Stuttgart is also good; they are performing well.

How come Arsenal failed to secure the signature of Gyökeres from Sporting in the summer, could it be his transfer fee was too expensive or was the player was not ready to leave Sporting at the time because Arsenal showed serious interest in getting Gyokeres signed to the club. Maybe in January they could try again, I doubt they have moved on from the deal. I would like to see him come to the premier league in January, Gyökeres has some amazing stats in Sporting, I’d like to see him replicate that in the premier league.
It's true that Gyokeres could be perfect for Arsenal, and to be fair Arsenal also could be great for Gyokeres as well, would fit so great. He did play at EPL before but he wasn't great, he had a great three season (well two before this and now third season now) so he looks good, but that dude wasn't good at championship for a few years, meaning that he failed to score a lot, he was "one goal per 200 minutes" type of striker, which I do not feel like is a good number. Now he looks like he is much better, but is it because he fits the team better or if he is a better player.

If Arsenal spends a lot of money, he comes there, and becomes a "one goal per 200 minutes" player yet again, then we are going to end up with a lot of trouble later on. It would be money wasted yet again.

Next week we continue with the second week games after a break. There are some really interesting games are waiting for us.  Smiley

Like Arsenal - PSG and Leverkusen - Milan on Tuesday. Arsenal really couldn't make the kind of a start they would like. They could have even lost to Atalanta if it weren't for David Raya's great saves. PSG also struggled to get ahead against Girona but still won. Considering the odds below, I wasn't expecting the gap to be this big. Bookmakers underestimate PSG a little, don't you think? I even think PSG won't lose so I would rather double chance @2.05.

I don't think bookmakers were really underestimating PSG. I think it's very fair odds for PSG considering the fact that their opponent is still in its best form. It's gonna be difficult for them to beat their opponent in an away game. Their opponent is as good as Manchester City. I have no reason to think the bookmakers are underestimating them, given the gap.

But let's see it from their odds movement. Their odds dropped from 5.60 to 4.60. They can go lower as the game nears. This means bookmakers are confident that they can steal points from their opponent.

ThereSuccessfully holding Arsenal to a draw in the first match of the Champions League certainly opens their hopes to qualify for the round of 16 playoffs wide open this season, especially since they will only face Madrid and Barcelona who are classified as strong teams at the moment, while the rest they will face opponents who can be said to have a balanced strength and quality with Atalanta,  As a team that won the Europa League last season, of course Atalanta has greater motivation to be able to compete for the UCL champion and obviously it will provide high motivation for them, but even so the challenge in the Champions League is certainly not easy and their is required to be able to continue to be consistent in maintaining performance in every match they have, because it will be key for Atalanta to go further in the UCL this season.

When it comes to the other game, Leverkusen are highly favoured which is no surprise. Milan are really not trustworthy at all to me. They didn't start well with Fonseca but that win in the Milano derby recently could motivate them more. But I still don't think they can resist Xabi Alonso's students. My choice would be Leverkusen win @1.63.  Smiley

For now it is too risky to believe in betting on Milan victory because the inconsistent performance is slightly weakening making our bet lose. As we can see at that time you can see Milan unimpressive performance when playing against Liverpool and on the one hand Leverkusen currently has a very strong defense and always has a defensive strategy when they can't beat their opponents.
So it would be better for me to bet on other options such as BTTS or over 3.
There is no reason to bet on a Milan win even though they just managed to pick up an important win at Inter headquarters. Milan's chances of winning are very small, maybe 5.00. The defeat from Liverpool in the first match can illustrate that Milan performance is still inconsistent. They have also only managed to win 2 of the last 5 games. But before this match starts, Milan will face Lecce at San Siro and Leverkusen will visit Bayern Munich headquarters.

Possibly before the match starts I dare to take the risk on Leverkusen victory -1.
This match will take place at BayArena which is Leverkusen pride stadium, of course Xabi Alonso will not waste the opportunity to get three points in front of his supporters.

AC Milan have an opportunity to get their first win of their Champions League campaign this season when they face Bayern Leverkusen next, hopefully they can get redemption for their lose to Liverpool in their first fixture to move up the table or else face difficult getting points to secure their promotion to the next stage of the tournament.

True, all true, but how much did Atalanta spend? Very little. I believe it is one of the few teams that has spent nothing or almost nothing as it develops players in its spring.
It's clear now that facing Real Madrid (faced) and Barcelona are very difficult challenges, never mind. We will do better next season.

Their strong teams are just more careful when playing against other strong teams. Well, because there were lots of matches between strong teams that took place at the start of the UCL this time. Thanks to this new format we can see Man City and Inter Milan even meet earlier. And in the next match we will also see a strong team against another strong team, namely Arsenal will face PSG. Yes, and there are several other matches that seem to deliberately bring together the big teams first. The new system is actually quite easy to understand, but actually I am more comfortable with the old system. Although the new system can provide more interesting challenges for all teams and make it fair for all teams. But for big teams they will try not to lose points from the start. And a draw is much better for them when facing other strong teams.

The new format is aimed at allowing viewers to see more different matches with their teams, that is, the task was to make the Champions League more interesting for the viewer. The fact that City cannot win some matches is primarily the fault of their opponents, when they decide to go into deep defense, maybe this is one of the few opportunities to get points in a match against City, so it is not worth blaming them for this. It is difficult to assess the advantages and disadvantages of this format for now, we can talk about this at the end of the season.

Last season that Atalanta was able to win Europa go and check out their performance, they were in form compared to this season and they are also playing a bigger league and not the same as last season. It is possible for them to qualify to thw round of 16 if the clubs in their group are weak but they will not survive the round of 16 because they will meet a strong team.
Atalanta's performance in their next 4 Championship League matches will tell how their limit to the Champions League would be because they are to face Shakhtar Donetsk(away), Celtic(home), VFB Stuttgart(away), and Young Boys(away), before facing Real Madrid and Barcelona next. However, I support your stated fact that they won't survive in their round of 16 because Real Madrid and Barcelona are in the pipeline of the tough teams they will face. There is no way they will defeat the mentioned teams. I considered Atalanta to have some defeats before they would kicked out at the round of 16, from the race for the Champions League title.
If you look at Atalanta's eight matches in the Champions League and Atalanta are also the defending champions of the Europa League. Actually, their chances of qualifying for the last 16 are very wide open because out of 8 matches only Arsenal, Real Madrid, and Barcelona can ensure that Atalanta will lose points.
The match against Arsenal has passed, and it can be said that it was a pretty good result because they were able to take home one point from Arsenal. So in the next match Atalanta can steal points from Shakhtar Donetsk, Celtic, VFB Stuttgart, and Young Boys. I don't think those four clubs are weak but I see those four clubs have the same quality as Atalanta so Atalanta's hopes of stealing points in that match are very possible.

However, that scenario could happen if Atalanta continues to improve the team and continues to increase its strength. Because lately Atalanta's performance has been below standard, in the domestic league alone they lost to the promoted club Como. If there is no improvement in performance, it is likely that this scenario will fail and it is certain that Atalanta will not qualify for the last 16.

Leverkusen might be lack of experience in champion league but don't mean AC Milan will be automatically can win from this match moreover AC Milan performance is not stable and i know they had just return to the winning way after successfully to beat Inter Milan in Serie A and i am sure this result can boosted their mentally but although Leverkusen is not too strong compared to last season but i still feel Leverkusen is strong team in Champion league

Do not forget too Leverkusen is still unbeated at their home for Europa competitions and although last season they were failed to gets the trophy because lost from Atalanta in the final match but Leverkusen still able to managed their consistency during playing at home since group stages and these records too makes me thinking Leverkusen is very strong while playing at BayArena

Leverkusen record is much better compared to AC Milan in league phase this because in the first match Leverkusen can able to beat Feyenoord with huge scores and for second match against AC Milan later my prediction is Leverkusen have good chances to resumes their winning streak and from betting option too you can see it that Leverkusen is the favourite and AC Milan as underdog status

Arsenal needs a striker urgently, Gabriel Jesus is not reliable enough and cannot guarantee Arteta the goals needed every season to compete for silverware. This season and even the previous seasons, we saw on different occasions where Arsenal played well and just needed the goals to get a win but failed to accomplish that. A striker like Osimhen can guarantee more goals, you can agree that goals win you games no matter how tough the opponent is.

If he urgently needs it and has the money, he can buy him wherever and whenever he wants, the problem arises if he needs a good, young striker who wants to pay little.
He never finds that.
When I hear these urgent things I am always reminded that you can easily find everything if you are willing to pay.

In the Champions League, Arsenal's performance this season is of course very tough because there are many strong opponents who are their opponents. But with the quality of the current players I am sure they will qualify from the first round. If you look at the competition in the domestic league, Arsenal has certainly competed quite tightly with Manchester City because their competition has been seen in the previous two seasons but this season I am still sure Manchester City will become champions again.
In the domestic league this season, Arsenal could experience something almost similar to last season because Manchester City is still strong enough so that both will continue to compete until the end of the season to win the League title. While in the Champions League, Arsenal will also not be easy enough to become champions because here there are more great teams that can be obstacles for them, although I have no doubt about the strength that Arsenal has this season. Until now, Arsenal has never tasted the sweetness of becoming champions in the Champions League, so Arsenal can focus on one of the competitions they want if they cannot focus on all the competitions they are participating in this season.

Seeing that Milan have had good wins in their recent games where they even won their Milan derby, it's a good reason to believe that they are going to be in their best form and have their confidence intact, so taking on Leverkusen wouldn't be such a game that they will not have the ability to play confidently, my fears are with Leverkusen actually as they don't exhibit that stability and confidence recently, their game are beginning to look like they are loosing their form but I hope they get rhe spirit of champions League knowing how competitive the game they will be playing is and give their very best.
Although Milan has performed well recently and was able to beat its arch rival Inter Milan, but for some reason in the Champions League I still doubt Milan because this club has not been fully consistent and is still blundering sometimes, especially against Leverkusen in Germany. I don't think it will be easy for Milan, while Leverkusen has won many times in the domestic league and won its first win in the Champions League when playing away, so I think Leverkusen is more confident to perform well in the Champions League, especially since bookies make Leverkusen the favorite in the match with odds of no more than 2, while betting on Milan is very risky.

On paper, Leverkusen is still more reliable than AC Milan, of course I do not ignore the fact that they have just defeated Inter Milan who are the defending champions in Serie A.
Leverkusen in this season is a different team, they are no longer unbeaten with a first loss in Bundesliga and AC Milan just woke up to beat Inter Milan. The match between Leverkusen and AC Milan will be balancing and I don't underestimate AC Milan in Champions League.

For many decades, AC Milan shown that they often play well in Champions League even they did not have good form in Serie A, so people call it as AC Milan's Champions League DNA that does not exist in Bayer Leverkusen.

Quote
In terms of experience and mentality, Leverkusen is clearly far behind AC Milan, but the current situation and conditions are certainly different. In my opinion, this match tends to end in a draw, even though the odds displayed place Leverkusen as the favorite.
Leverkusen played in Champions League some seasons and had one failed Champions League final under Real Madrid with a magic volley of Zidane. Generally, they have less experience in Champions League than AC Milan in history. With current players in two clubs, AC Milan have more players who already experienced Champions League in previous seasons, and this can be an important factor for difference between two clubs in their direct match.

AC Milan is a little lucky because they will face a relatively easy opponent before facing Leverkusen, where they will face Lecce. Meanwhile, Xabi Alonso squad will play against Bayern Munich, which has the potential to drain the energy and minds of its players.
If Leverkusen manages to win in the Bundesliga, then they will be very favored when facing AC Milan, especially since the match will be held at the BayArena.

If we look deeper into comparing Arsenal and Man City, it's not actually a problem that Arsenal must have a striker like Haaland.
Now let's look at it logically and take examples from other league teams like Bayern Munich and Leverkusen.
Last season we all know that Munich had Kane with his scoring machine achievements and made a big contribution to the team. We even have predictions that Munich will be stronger last season. But the facts say that Leverkusen won the bundesliga title. While Leverkusen does not have a player like Kane.

Well, the conclusion is that Arsenal does not need a player like Haaland because Arsenal performance is actually very good. But what Arsenal needs is strong consistency.
If we look at Arsenal at the beginning of the season, they always give extraordinary performances both domestically and in the UCL. But at the end of the season they lose their energy and their performances are inconsistent.
Arsenal needs a striker urgently, Gabriel Jesus is not reliable enough and cannot guarantee Arteta the goals needed every season to compete for silverware. A striker like Osimhen can guarantee more goals, you can agree that goals win you games no matter how tough the opponent is.
In my opinion, Arsenal do not need a new striker. Bringing such a player into the system would require some changes to Arteta's formation.
Anyway, Arteta still has very good players in his hands from last season, the job now is to find a way to get people like Saka, Martinelli, and Ødegaard to fire again. And Arteta knows full well that Havertz can play as a striker. After a slow start, Havertz gradually adapted to the role of a "number 9" in the second half of last season. The fact that Havertz continues to take on this role in the opening match of the 2024-2025 Premier League shows that he can do it. I believe in Havertz, and Gabriel Jesus, Leandro Trossard have played in that position. So Arteta has different options and the best thing to do is to trust the players they have and try to improve them. They are very good, very ready and that is what Arsenal should focus on.
