The way this table is presented is quite confusing, i.e. the first column listing all the teams is separate to the fixtures part of the table.

But the main takeaway from the tournament structure changes is that the league (or pot) stage will not feature teams playing 2 games against each other (home/away) but, instead, each team will play 8 games against 8 different teams.
Some could say it's not necessarily fair, but I can live with that.

This new Champions League format was very confusing to me at first, but after studying it for a while I understood how it was run. All teams will play a total of 8 matches against 8 different teams, that has never happened before in the group stage. This change in format also means that all teams have more matches scheduled this season, even the high tension of the Champions League competition can result in injuries to some of these players.

I don't know how the participating teams will respond to this change in format, but as participants they will definitely benefit from a financial perspective, especially income per match. In the early rounds there are lots of big matches, I can't wait for them.

Since big teams will meet themselves, they will eliminate themselves and give opportunity to some other smaller unexpected teams in the competition to perform. Many teams in the competition will be hoping for luck to shine on them so that they do not meet the big teams that will eliminate them early in the competition. The draw looks different this season, but anyhow it is every team will be hoping for luck, to meet teams that they are sure they can defeat. Top picks to win the competition this time also remains Manchester city and Real Madrid. For Dortmund that made it far last time, I do not think they can do it again.

Usually we can only see matches between two big teams in the last 16 or last eight or in the semi-finals. but now we will be able to see strong teams meet earlier. That will add to the excitement for UCL this time.

Leverkusena will indeed have some difficult matches. Inter Milan, Liverpool, AC Milan and Atletico Madrid will probably be a very tough test for them. but it was necessary to prove that they deserved to go further. Looks like now I have to get used to seeing the new UCL format this season which has changed. But it looks like a series of matches that are more even and more exciting will be presented right from the start. I would say Young Boys deserve to win this match. They have performed really well. After a 3-2 win at home I thought Young Boys would play defensively in the away match. But in this match Young Boys attacked a lot and tried to break Galatasaray's defense. And finally succeeded Young Boys. Young Boys won the match 1-0. Young Boys won the home match by 3-2 and the away match by 1-0.

Galatasaray is my favorite team. I would have been happy if this team could have qualified for the Champions League. But the team failed to perform well against Young Boys. However, now Galatasaray will be fully focused on the Super Lig. There is a big possibility to see galatasaray dominate in the Super Lig next season.

I hope the evil spirit that always hunts Arsenal's chances to take the Champions league trophy doesn't catch up with them this tournament. Lol.

Still with many top teams and don't forget the dark horse teams that will present a surprise in the champions league this season. I hope there is no gap that makes small teams feel sad when playing against big teams later. Of all these teams, there is one team from Slovakia, namely ŠK Slovan Bratislava, which will make its debut in the champions league which will also be in a new format.

Sorry for not posting an image but it would be just too much. Because there isn't any group stage anymore and there are too many matches. Grin

We are talking about (36 teams x 8 matches per team) / 2 = 144 matches in total. Let's see how things go in this new format. It isn't like reinventing the wheel of course there are many similarities.

The only difference is that there is a league-like phase instead of groups. After this stage everything is the same. I'm curious whether we will see an underdog doing unexpected things this season.

I really liked the new draw to tell the truth.

It is much more practical compared to the previous version. If they wanted to use the old draw for the new system, they were going to need more than 1000 balls to determine all the matches.

Buffon opens a ball from a pot and Ronaldo presses a button for the computer to determine the opponents of that team, that's it. Grin

So far the unluckiest team looks like Club Brugge. They have drawn nearly all the most challenging teams. I'm just looking forward to watching league matches. There will be discussions about if there was really a need for a change. But we will see. Maybe we will like this system more.
