There is no Champions League during the upcoming week. The same for the Conference League too. There is only the Europa League fixtures.

I'm going to miss the Champions League meanwhile certainly. Because the first week was really lovely with so many goals. There must be only a couple of ones without a goal. Bayern Munich started incredible. They lead the standings by far. Celtic and Leverkusen follow right after. Seeing Celtic there feels interesting.  Grin  But we are at the very beginning of this stage. They played one of their easiest fixtures early.

Top contenders didn't start very strong generally but I think they will make up for that. It is going to be hell of a busy schedule on the other hand...  Sad
of course every football fan misses the champions league when it is not on. The Champions League brings a different level of entertainment and drama you can’t help but love. The thrills from the last outing is still in my memory and I am anticipating more of it. It’s quite fortunate that the Europa league also be entertaining with tough fixtures too while we wait for the return of Champions League football, indeed the coming fixtures will be an experience not to miss out on.

AC Milan lost by a big margin against Liverpool in the Champions League but the same team again defeated Inter Milan in their league tournament. As for Liverpool's opponents at the moment, AC Milan haven't had a very strong opponent but still being beaten by this team by such a big margin surprised me a bit. Before the match started and even before losing by a big margin I considered Liverpool and AC Milan to be almost equal opponents against each other so I naturally thought that maybe this match would result in a draw but it was not to be.

However, AC Milan will have to do well in the matches ahead of them in the Champions League as they are already under a lot of pressure after losing their first match.
The 3-1 defeat at home was clearly a poor performance shown by Milan in the match, although statistically they were balanced, here Milan's attack line was not very active in creating many opportunities with a record of only releasing 8 shots and only 2 on target.
The next match, Fonseca's team must visit Leverkusen's headquarters, this is the next test for Fonesca to be able to win or at least steal points considering that it will not be easy to beat the Bundesliga representatives.
However, seeing their victory in Serie A against Inter indicates that there is an improvement shown and this will be a motivation for Milan to perform well at the BayArena later.

I'm not saying that they'll be one of the clubs that qualify straight away and think they're as good as the other big clubs in the Champions League at the moment but the fact that they played well against Barcelona is undeniable.
We can't deny that fact and we have to admit that in this first match they played very well despite the mistakes of the Barcelona players in yesterday's match, we still have to praise Monaco's game which managed to beat Barcelona even for this season Monaco has won 2 times when dealing with Barcelona.

Although the match is still very much where the Champions League competition is clearly still very difficult for them but when Monaco still shows this spirit it is not impossible that they can qualify even through the play off route.

Monaco was able to snatch victory only at the end of the match, and this is taking into account that they played the whole match with one player adventage. They were also lucky with their opponents, the next matches will be with Dinamo Zagreb, Crvena Zvezda, Bologna, all these teams can be beaten and these points should be enough for them to qualify for the playoffs. The rest of the opponents will be much stronger, so they need to get as many points as possible right now.
Monaco victory over Barcelona clearly surprised us if we compare the performance of the two teams in their respective leagues, I think we all here previously thought that Barcelona had an easy opponent when meeting Monaco, because Monaco was not a big team that was worthy of being favored before the match started, Monaco and Barcelona started the match well but we also do not deny that the red card obtained by Barcelona was actually Changing the course of the match, after getting a red card, it is clear that Barcelona has undergone changes in their game which is no longer compact and also dynamic so that it causes several mistakes that Monaco can make good use of, to be honest one win does not give great hope for Monaco at this time, because there are still seven more matches they must to play.
In the remaining Champions League matches, Monaco will face a team that is relatively weaker than they, but we know that if the Champions League has a different atmosphere and just as we favored Barcelona to win over Monaco before, it is not impossible that we will also see Monaco lose to teams such as Dinamo Zagreb, Crvena Zvezda,  Bologna?

San Siro STRIPPED of hosting 2027 Champions League final after Milan failed to guarantee iconic stadium would not be affected by planned renovation

UEFA will reopen the bidding to host the 2027 men's Champions League final after the match was taken away from Milan.

European football's governing body has gone back to the drawing board after authorities in the Italian city could not offer guarantees that refurbishment work at San Siro stadium and the surrounding area would not affect the match.

UEFA indicated in May that a decision on the 2027 final host was being postponed, subject to UEFA receiving the necessary guarantees around the San Siro refurbishment.

A decision on a new host is now expected in May or June next year, UEFA said.

Agreement has also been reached over UEFA's solidarity funding, with Premier League clubs outside of European competition receiving a smaller slice over the next three seasons than under the previous agreement.

Leverkusen have had a decent season, both in the domestic league and their first match in the Champions League. The confidence levels are increasing for them and getting used to this elite competition, even though they have recently made a comeback to the Champions League. The next game against AC Milan will certainly pass as interesting. Anyhow, Milan are one of the big teams in Europe.

Still, Milan itself is having an up and down season in the domestic league. They are placed 7th presently, having recorded two wins, two draws, and one loss. Maybe this situation could offer Leverkusen a perfect time to peak and maybe spring a surprise. But in the Champions League, but then again anything can happen; Milan is still an opponent to be wary of.
Bayer can take advantage of the fact that Milan has not yet found its game, I think that Alonso will want to use the same tactics that Liverpool used, but I don’t know if they have enough strength for such pressure and Bayer’s defense is not as reliable as Liverpool’s, so it may not work. And Milan can gain confidence from yesterday’s victory over Inter, but I’m not rushing to such conclusions yet, Milan is weaker than I expected.

Regarding the game between Atalanta and Arsenal, I don't know why but Arsenal had totally disappointing performance in this match and they easily lost a point against Atalanta while this team was not strong like Arsenal and they didn't have superstar players like this team at all. It seems Arteta is even more experienced enough and he still can't have a good performance in the bigger tournaments like the Champions League with Arsenal.
Also, Arteta should thank David Raya for his good performance because he saved a penalty kick for his team otherwise they could lose this game against Atalanta.

If we look at the squads of the two teams that played in the match, we can say that actually the two teams are not in good condition, considering that many of their main players are injured, if we compare in terms of team quality, of course, actually Arsenal is still better than Atlanta, but indeed Arsenal's game in the match does not show a team that has attractive characteristics and is also impressive in attacking,  Even in my opinion after the game against Porto last season it was clear that the game against Atlanta was the second worst game I have seen from Arsenal in the Champions League so far.

I totally disagree with you, if you had watched that game very well you would have seen that Atalanta where the better side against Arsenal, don't even go to say that Atalanta is not strong as Arsenal, Atalanta played without any sign of weakness in that game, you might want to rate them not being on the same standard with Arsenal but every club that has qualified for the champions League came as a champion especially Atalanta that won the Europa League. I still blame that young man that went to play the penalty for Atalanta as he would have allowed ademola lookman to take the penalty kick,  maybe by now you would have understood that Atlanta came prepared if they had won that game.
I don't think Arsenal failure to get full points in that match is just because Atlanta is a good team after they won the Europa League last season, because I think Arsenal mentality is actually very weak when they play in the Champions League so far, especially so far Arsenal has a bad record when facing a Serie A teams in Italy, but Arsenal should be grateful to Raya who is able to perform consistently at this time in guarding the Arsenal goal and we also cannot blame Retegui for failing to take a penalty in the match, because after all, a player has a burden when taking a penalty kick, especially if the penalty is a penalty that determines the a team victory.

Yet they went on giving a tough time  to Mancity Cheesy in their  league( Premier league )... I don't know what's the coach is actually doing with team because  I thought they would crush Atalanta easily with how it's been crushed currently at this period. Their stats was completely average  I felt  like Atalanta wasn't that lucky with their penalty  kick, Arsenal could have just lost point and there wouldn't be anything to discuss than they FUBT or should we just say the coach doesn't give a sh*t about UCL ??
Holding Atalanta draw is much better than Arsenal having to lose 3 points, because Atalanta should have made good use of the spot kick. Too bad it didn't happen because Arsenal have a reliable goalkeeper, so if it is said that Arsenal are unlucky then Atalanta are much more unlucky when opportunities are in sight. After all Arsenal have not conceded so maybe they are trying to improve in the next match against PSG which obviously will not be easy because PSG now looks more stable and consistent.

Damn, Arsenal played badly in the match against Atalanta and in this match it was seen that Atalanta dominated the game to have possession of the ball and attacking play that was superior to Arsenal.
Previously Arsenal played well when playing away against Tottenham but today they played away against Atalanta and could not be like when they met Tottenham, on the other hand Atalanta did not perform so well in Serie-A at the beginning of this season.
Barcelona also played badly against Monaco, Monaco won with 2 goal advantage and Barcelona was only able to score 1 goal, only Atletico Madrid managed to win in today match which I chose as betting option.

The Arsenal game vs Atlanta wasn't a surprising thing to me, though I know how good arsenal has been for sometime now. The Truth is that, if you happen to support any English team, you will prefer to face teams from other leagues than Serie A teams. Serie A teams are totally built different when it comes to European football, so that was what literally limit the play of the arsenal team. One funny thing about serie A team is that, they can be having a very bad season in their league, but when it comes to European competition, you always find them active. I didn't watch the arsenal game much because it was kind of boring. Atalanta really dominated. And I think what I like about that Atalanta side is their attack and defense. The three attackers clearly understand what to do. Their positioning was very threatening to the arsenal defense. And I think we should appreciate David Raya for making that fantastic save when they needed him the most. The current arsenal team should better learn how to cope and play without their captain Odegaard. I have noticed Jorginho's shaky feet in the past 2 games now. He needs to show some courage as the current leader of the team.

To become a champion I think Atalanta is very difficult to expect, here is not the Europa league that he can master like last season, here is the champions league where not a few teams are very extraordinary in making their way in the much stronger champions league, seeing Atalanta's performance from the draw match against Arsenal it is not worth counting in my opinion, we also know how Arsenal's performance is always inconsistencies in the champions league, we will see that view when Atalanta can reach the semi-finals, I really doubt it will be like what happened to Dortmund last season, can it have the same fate? I really doubt it.
So far, I don't see something special with Atalanta. What makes people to expect Atalanta be the champion in UCL? If people assume winning the Europa league last season to be the reason of Atalanta reaching the final UCL, it is something nonsense. Sure, the level of Champions League and Europa League are different. Champions League is much harder, we have too many strong teams here. Even some teams become the favorite to reach the final (Real Madrid, Man City, Bayern Munich). These favorite teams is surely stronger than Atalanta.

However, I don't underestimate Atalanta. It doesn't mean Atalanta will have 0 chance to survive. However, if we consider its current performance and the squad quality, it is unlikely to see Atalanta in the semi-final or final UCL. I personally assume the realistic target is to reach the quarter final. If Atalanta can qualify the next round, they will have a chance to go to quarter final.

Atalanta winning Europa League indeed good achievement but i don't think they will be automatically became an the favourite in this competition because just like we all know that Champion league is very different compared to other competitions and it's hard even for strong teams to gets the trophy even Guardiola has been admitted Champion league is the hardest competition in Europa

The draw result from Arsenal indeed has successfully to boosted Atalanta mentally although i personally didn't satisfied to see this result because they have good chances to beat Arsenal but i think draw against strong team just like Arsenal is good achievement for Atalanta

I think it's too far to talking about champion possibility for Atalanta because they are not the favourite in this competition besides that there were plenty of big teams who deserved to called as champion candidates rather than them and if we talking about knockout stages i think they have to try harder especially besides Arsenal Atalanta has more strong opponents just like Real Madrid and Barcelona

certainly not, it is not easy for Atalanta to be able to impose itself on teams like Real Madrid or Barcelona but never say never the possibility of doing well or doing badly against strong teams is always there and they absolutely should not be underestimated, we must remember that they won the championship anyway. Most likely preparing the ground to face Man City in the Domestic League, at least holding Atalanta to a draw at their home is much more than enough and most likely, Arsenal will beat Atalanta at Arsenal's home, so this tactic and strategy is what Arteta uses in maintaining the stamina of the players, so that facing Man City at home all the players are in their best condition because we know these two clubs are tough competitors in their League so whatever the result is is a strategy so that Arsenal's points are not lost too much.
It would be nonsense to lose at home. There is a high probability that this will not happen. It is still much better to play at home than away. You can say that you know all the pitfalls of your "home". Which cannot be said about the opponent, who is playing for the first time (but this is not certain), but still does not feel so confident.

Wow, this is going to be an interesting match. I can just see how with each scoring opportunity the chair flies out from under my feet. Grin

~snip~
The match between Atalanta and Arsenal out our expectations in the match, from the beginning of the match I hoped to see an impressive match and full of high intensity but in fact both teams are more inclined to play carefully in the match, we known so far Arsenal is a team that plays attractively in attack but absent Odegaard seems to haveindeed lowered their speed in the attack, there are not many chances and shots on target that are created actually make the match very boring in my opinion, Arsenal are very lucky  because have Raya as their goalkeeper and he can again and again save Arsenal from defeat after successfully making a fantastic save from Retegui penalty kick, I think the reflexes and also the toughness possessed by Raya that made him able to seize the position of Arsenal main goalkeeper so far from Ramsdale.

It was match that was not as expected, they were bad in every attack and defense and indeed in this match I also considered that David Raya contribution was very large with several saves he made.
I don't know what happened to the players so that they were unable to beat Atalanta, but what is clear is that Arteta looked quite disappointed with the performance of his players who could not play consistently, this is Arsenal weakness which cannot maintain the quality of play at any time.
Arsenal played well against Tottenham but experienced decline in the UCL match against Atalanta then returned to perform very well when playing against Manchester City for the Premier League match and if they did not get 1 red card maybe Arsenal would have won although I really hope Manchester City would have won the match.
Next Arsenal will meet PSG for the second UCL match and there is still enough time for Arsenal to prepare everything well and they are playing at home, Arsenal should be able to play well even though PSG is not an easy opponent.

But I will not be in a haste to rate them a better team than AC Milan. Although AC Milan has never done their best this season but after watching their derby with Inter Milan, I concluded that they are good to go in the Champions League. I never knew that so many good players are now with AC Milan, players as;
Abraham,
Morata,
Pulisic,
Fofana,
Chukwueze,
Rafael Leao, etc
These guys have the ability to stop Bayern leverkusen.

That is the fact that previously Monaco managed to beat Barcelona in Trofeo Joan Gamper 2024 which in fact was a tournament they made themselves in pre-season and in yesterday's official match their chance was actually revenge for Trofeo Joan Gamper but what happened was the opposite where they had to be willing to lose 1 player and lose points in the first match of the Champions League Cheesy

Regarding the communication error or maybe it was more Ter Stegen's fault for something like this in the game there are always things like this and of course this should be used as a situation where they can improve even more because this is not the first time mistakes have occurred in the Champions League because if we remember last season they also did the same thing when meeting PSG in the Champions League which in the end made a loss for themselves.

The second week they will face Young Boys should be a calm before the match against Bayern returns with an interesting situation between Barcelona, Flick and Bayern.

I can't say Monaco had a good performance because of beating a team like Barcelona in the ChampionsLeague, they really won the game but it doesn't mean Monaco is a good team, they were playing against Barcelona while Barcelona had one fewer player for the whole this game and this was effective for them to beat Barcelona.
Since Barcelona got good results in La Liga, I think time after time they can have better performances in the Champions League too.

I feel like giving breaks time to time is a must because teams end up playing their domestic cup games too, or just rest and wait for the next one, if you keep putting games back to back then it would be quite hard and we wouldn't have a good result at all, we should be something that is getting a great result if teams end up resting their players, if they do not rest and play every single week then we are not going to see the teams do fine.

Plus, when are you going to put the domestic cup games if every week there is a UCL game? That is why there must be some weeks that these teams are given free so they could either rest or play cup and 8 games for group stages is something that we can all agree that's a good thing. Which is why I feel like the best thing in this case should be a great deal when you end up putting some money into it at as well. I believe that if we can put some money on when it's on, that would be good, gives us an edge until next time.

I think it's 100% the goalkeeper's mistake, no one else is to blame. The one who makes the decision is responsible, he made the worst decision possible.
By the way, I heard that in pre-season games Monaco beat Barcelona 3-0, so in some sense you can say that Barcelona is progressing  Grin
This game looks like an accident rather than a logical outcome, so I hope everyone (including the bookies) continues to overrate Barcelona.
