When Paris asked for VAR it was given to them by the referee and it was correct to void the goal however when Real scored a regular goal because Benzema didn’t touch the ball the VAR was not given to Real.I am not saying Paris did not deserve to win they played better than Real all the time but I want to point out we have still flaws in the system.

Firstly, clubs do not ask for VAR, it stands for video assistant referee, and there are officials who follow the game from a monitor and decide to act when the referee appears to make a clear error (only applies in game changing situations).
Benzema may not have touched the ball, but he arguably was interfering with play by blocking the keepers line of vision.

Such an unexpected result for Real Madrid. I was kind of sure that they won't be able to win this match but not to lose with so much scoring difference.
I think that Zidane is already in a bad position even if it is still early on the season.

I am actually not surprised if Real Madrid lost. It's just that they lost with a lot of goals. Another bad season for real Madrid, Real Madrid like losing his game. Be it a Domestic or Champions League match. At this rate, chances are that Real Madrid will fast the title again.

Well, it is actually very sad for Real Madrid spending so much money on forwards and they are not able to score even one goal.
I think that Madrid fans in Spain would not let it be so easy for Zidane. If the frustration begins, then the administration is going to try find a solution to alleviate the pain and sacking the manager is always the first step to this.

Don’t get too excited about PSG guys, they always look like they could be a serious threat in the CL at the start but then choke when it gets serious.
Yep, that's been the case in the last few seasons they've been in the Champions League. They'll face Galatasaray away in the next matchday, watch out for a upset there, this turkish team is different beast when playing at home.

Agreed, PSG flatter to deceive at this level and the team doesn't seem to be in a better position than last year..
The crowd welcome in Turkey will be dialled right up, but the Galatasaray team are not what they were twenty years ago in terms of quality. Great spectacle though.

@tomahawk9 if you had seen how Tottenham have been playing in the premier league this season, then you would not have been surprised by thier draw in yesterday’s match.
I did watch some of their games in the EPL and yeah they've been pretty underwhelming, I just thought they would change their mentality once the CL started, but it seems like they're still figuring out what to do on the pitch...But fair play to Olympiakos, I've heard they were pretty good in the 2nd half and deserved the win.

Who would have thought that Real Madrid would be defeated so easily, and I can’t help but wonder if they continue loosing matches will Zidane get the sack?.
Absolutely. He already lost all the credit he had before during the pre season and the clunky start in La Liga.

Elsewhere, great comeback by Atleti at home to Juve, that showed some real balls.

So yesterday I saw the Juventus' match and I noticed many positive things.
Going to play the Sarri Ball in the house of is not easy even considering that a few months here Juventus had lost 3 to 0.
We were winning 2-0! They also could score the 3rd!

I do not agree with Pmalek about Khedira.
The fact that Juve has 5 goals with Napoli and Atletico from 3 to 0 towards 3 to 3 and from 2 to 0 to 2 to 2, is not due to Khedira's replacement.
Four of these five goals (like many others were taken during the preseason) are practically the same. They are goals taken from a standing kick.

The problem with these goals is the change introduced and wanted by the new coach Sarri.

With the old coach Allegri, Juventus defended to man, as well as with Conte. Juventus did it for eight years. This is his mentality.

Sarri wants a new, different way of defending. He wants to defend to zone, I think that's the reason. The change in the way of defending. They must learn to do it or, if they fail to do so, they must return to defend to the man in the area.

On actions during this official season the Juventus, so far, taken 1 goal in 4 games, all the other goals (4) have been practically the same and generated on the situation with a free-kick and defence deployed.

Anyway, this is still a great result but it could be better especially since they scored in the last 5 minutes.

Imagine if Ronaldo scored on his solo action at 94°! Cheesy

Real destroyed by PSG, if they will lose a game again they can risk the qualification!

I just don't understand why referee didn't gave penalty when Juve player touched ball with hand.
Because the ball was kicked towards his arm from about 1-2 meters out. There was nothing he could do. He didn't make any movement towards the ball, his teammate kicked it at him. Not a penalty in my opinion and good decision by the ref and the VAR.

I read a great comment yesterday night on one of the Juve social media sites that talked about the performance of Juventus with Khedira and without him.
Juventus was 3:0 up in Serie A, Khedira got substituted and Juventus conceded 3 goals.
They were also leading 2:0 VS Atl. Madrid, Khedira gets substituted and they concede two goals.

Was the PSG RM match real. To be honest I didnt expect to see RM losing with such ease. At least I expect to see them score once at least.
Shame bu this is football, maybe it better for PSG to play without Neymar they play so much better, they should sell him this summer it would be better for them but seems like are more for the marketing money then him play.

PSG make the game look so easy and Neymar must think this time he can finally taste a medal for champions league but for me, Real cannot be the measuring stick anymore. They are just such a broken team right now. They will still progress I guess,,, but imagine if they meet a full squad of PSG what would the score have been?

Did anyone watch RB Salzburg vs. Genk? WTF happened there, a 6:2 is very impressing and I wouldn't have expected such an outcome. Salzburg seems to be highly motivated, it's their first CL-season AFAIK. Very looking forward to the Liverpool match in two weeks, I am very excited if they can approve their top form.

Paris did a great job yesterday but the thing with the VAR is like the law in Balkan countries,it is applied on poor people without support and rich ones get away by bribing the officials.

Things like this have often happened in other big matches. And that really hurts, but behind it all we have to see the whole game PSG and Real Madrid. PSG dominates the game more, in fact I don't see Real Madrid as a big European team that can compete. And I must also admit that PSG deserved to win the match.

@Harkorede: Yikes sorry I just saw you followed me on the Pool/Barca parlay. On behalf of the Reds I ask for forgiveness, though the penalty that changed everything was, well, a dive. Maybe German refs in Italy don't agree =p

Anyway, I had a good first two nights. LOST 2 parlays in a row (thanks Liverpool and Real, but also Juventus and Barca, none could win!). Also lost a Lille upset but won my 10/1 Lokomotiv bet to put me in very good profit.

Now who said the group stages were predictable eh?

I really hope the match doesn't disappoints in terms of goals scored just like everyone had anticipated a goal festival in Barça vs Dortmund (But the game wasn't by any means a boring one), just the lack of goals. That said looking at the line up, despite Real Madrid obvious struggle recently, I still think they will win the game.
Real Madrid with their ₤200M+ front line up did not even register single shot on target the entire 90 minutes  Grin
What a joke of a team.

Further more, the same team that just got rid of Keylor Navas hasn't kept a clean sheet since February 2019 with Courtois between the sticks. I am a Madrid fan but i have to admit that the team is ways so poor from what people expect.

I don't think the new signings will really help the club. It's in complete shambles and this might be another trophy-less season for us.

Didn't expect the first two teams to draw their games, especially Spurs who had a 2-0 lead...bottlers!!

About Real Madrid, jesus christ, PSG didn't have Neymar, Mbappe, and Mbappe, and we still got absolutely dominated by their B-team attack. With their stars fit, this could've ended way, way worse.

Great comeback from Atletico, and Juventus, another team blowing a 2-0 lead. Biggest surprise for me today was Dinamo Zagreb winning 4-0 vs Atalata. Lesson from today's matches: should've gone with total goals rather than ML  Roll Eyes

I watched the city game, and to be honest that game could have finished 7- nil or something within that range, city missed plethora of golden opportunities, it was starting to look like they purposely didn't want to score, crazy.

City obviously should top this group with 18 points, that's a 100% record, I just hope after this stage, they do not fumble as usual.
I think this season the underdogs are proving they can also compete, take a look at the Atlanta game, who could have believed such an outcome. It was a fun-filled matchday one, I must agree.

I was expecting lots of goals from the PSG - Madrid fixture, but I'm not so sure on that now, may just back the French side to grab all three points.

I was right that PSG would come away with the victory. And it was quite an impressive one, with notable absentees on both sides, Neymar, Mbappe, Cavani, Ramos, and the current balloon d'or holder Modric, all didn't feature in tonight's game.
There were lots of goals, although they all came from the home side, with Di Maria hurting his former employees.

I just don't understand why referee didn't gave penalty when Juve player touched ball with hand.

It's not a foul anytime the ball touches an outfield players hands, the rules are meant to be interpreted accordingly. In my opinion, that's was not a pen.
