It is half time in the game PAOK Saloniki - Ajax and the Dutch team seems to be loosing.
I feel like it would be a hard series for them and probably we are going to see them out of Champions League this year, even they did an amazing way last season.

The match ended 2 goals apiece, Ajax are slightly in favor now since they'll be playing the return leg at home.

The surprise of the day so far is Qarabaq defeating Apoel 2 - 1 on home soil, lucky enough for Apoel they were able to pull one back in the 95th minute, it could be have been a tougher task ahead of the second if they didn't score while at home.

Qarabag is doing great so far in this preliminary phase.I think they will repeat their success of a few years ago when they managed to play in group stages against teams like Chelsea. All the favourites right now look in good shape to pass through as Dinamo Zagreb seems it will have an easy task ahead against Ferencvaros.

Wake me up after the 3rd qualification round has been completed & the draw is made for the group stages. That’s when the real business begins Wink
I can’t bet on these qualification rounds, too many unknowns for me.

@DeathAngel I began to sing the lyrics lol, and like you even I’m waiting for the group stages to begin as this will be one of the best champions league season till date. All the teams have revamped their squads, and Juventus and Real Madrid are the front runners to win it. However I do expect Liverpool and Barcelona to give them tough competition, overall no team will find it easy to win it and we will have to bet very carefully this time round.

Kind of crazy that last year's semifinalist still has to play through qualification, but that's how coefficients work and the Dutch are paying the price for letting their league get to such a sorry state.

Anyone fancy Ajax losing this match after last season's overperformance? They're minus quite a bit now.

Mignolet might get his Champs League game early too if Brugge play him but I'm expecting them to lose...

Ajax have sold a couple of their stars but I can’t see them losing over 2 legs to PAOK Thessaloniki (Who the hell even are they Cheesy).

I don’t know much about Brugges but Dinamo Kiev have been a half decent team over the years.

The biggest problem of all is that there has been an exodus of most of its phenomenal young talents that helped the team reach the same final last season and a few more who are in the team are also a bit unsettled because of their uncertain futures in the club. So i wouldn't be surprised if they lost.

I would liken this team to the Monaco team that had performed very well a few seasons back only for almost all its young talent depart the next season to other bigger clubs. They had to fight to survive relegation.

I did not expect to see PSV Eindhoven to crash out of the Uefa Champions League for this season, I think PSV Eindhoven should play a more defensive formation against FC Basel in this match as they do have a goal advantage after they won their 1st leg game against FC Basel, and a goalless draw result would be enough to get PSV Eindhoven to progress to the next stage.

I did at the first leg, and still held out for Basel, rightly so!

Form is temporary for sure, the nine straight wins makes them a contender again after being shamed by Young Boys (even in the Champions League!) but you have to say that Dutch football, apart from recent times, has not caught up to the modern game the way the Swiss teams have in the past decade.

I know there will be people pointing out that Swiss nationals are from other places, but look deep into the Dutch squads and they're not much different.

Well, Basel's just starting now and I know I picked the wrong side in the first leg but got to remember they actually levelled and took the lead in the away leg. 2 goals away is still a good boost they need only to score once and do a good shutout.

Ararat's won their game in Europa so I'm 2 legs away from a safe 10/1 parlay on Basel and Maccabi Tel Aviv... who've just levelled 2-2 to Cluj! Bloody nice.

Edit: Basel's taken the lead!
And in any case, fans should be proud of the team.  Nine victories in a row at the start justified the status of “Basel” as a favorite of the championship of Switzerland.  Of course, everyone hoped to see the results for the best at home, in contrast to the result on the road.  For me, nevertheless, suddenly see a total score of 3-4.

But two away goals is actually a good result based on UEFA away goals rule, I think Basel were the better team on the night though and I think they will eventually go through.

Sometimes 'a better team' in a game could lose. I like the saying in Tsubasa, which more or less told us that "a strong team doesn't win, the team that win is strong". To put it simply, doesn't matter how you play a game, in the end, the score is what that matters. Basel will need to put everything that they have. Just like Liverpool did on their 2nd leg.

Basel can still advance to the next qualification round bit they will need to be at their absolute best & the fans will have to create an intimidating, passionate atmosphere. It can’t be compared to Anfield & Liverpool though, not many stadiums have that aura.

It will be difficult for Basel to pass through, the away goals don't mean that much when you are playing against a PSV which has far more experience in Champions League compared to Basel.

If I were to bet on who will advance I would bet on PSV as I think they a better quality team and also have a lot more experience in International level.

@Jerome yeah I saw that too, both games won by such close margins, but the odds were also extremely close so I should feel good about a 4.6 win. Just haven't been making enough of those wins lately.

Celtic I can't pretend I know well anymore, not since the days of Larsson or even once Brendan Rodgers took over. But there is a personally renewed interest since Gerrard took over Rangers, I think that extra bit of domestic competition will really improve the Old Firm teams, whoever goes to Champs League. It would be really cool to see them get into group stages, but I personally like seeing first-time entrants too.

Here are tonight's UEFA Champions League, Qualification results, Celtic went on rampage and thumped Nõmme Kalju 5-0

Celtic dominated every match. And they will always be in the top 32 every year. Unfortunately Celtic was always eliminated after that and they were unable to compete with other European teams in the Champions League.

I have a Cluj/Maribor parlay... home wins crucial, so far so good but lots of time left to play.

Edit: And right after I submit AIK level for 1-1 at Maribor hahaha =(
I think you won, Maribor added on another goal later, congrats  Cheesy

Too bad for Basel that they couldn't hold on to their lead with just a very few minutes to go, but 2 away goals could still be something to cheer about...
Basel lost concentration in the final minutes of the match and it cost them dearly, I think leading by one goal with few minutes to go, they ought to have defended better.

Am guessing the table is about those teams that needs to play UEFA Champions league and Europa league qualification matches. the real package starts with the UEFA Champions league group stages match or the Europa league.
