Life, Love and Laughter...

Well, there isn´t much choice in quali-matches tonight imo, so if nobody is in imminent need to bet anything for the sake of betting (I hope nobody here is in that situation, otherwise hotlines may be provided if desired).

Ajax (Ned) - APOEL (Cyp) (1st leg result 0:0)

Club Brugge KV (Bel) - LASK Linz (Aut) (1st leg result 1:0)

Slavia Prague (Cze) - CFR Cluj (Rou) (1st leg result 1:0)

I will skip them all, leaning back and wait for the group-stage-drawing tomorrow.

I have actually placed bets on all them and not just for the sake of betting. Cheesy I expect goals tonight. Smiley

Ajax - Apoel (BTS)
Brugge - Linz (BTS)
Prague - Club (Over 2.5 goals)

I told you mate, nothing to gain out of these matches, even though I would have liked seeing your bets coming (for a reason as you know  Grin)

Champions League group stage draw pots

We could get some very strong groups, it will be interesting. Especially  if Dinamo Zagreb and Red Star Belgrade end up in the same group, those 2 clubs have  very interesting history, to say the least, and those would be high risk games.

Draw will be made today at 18:00 CET.

As a BVB-supporter I hope for the following:

Chelsea
BVB
Olympiacos
Galatasaray

Cheesy

^  Zenit has to be a bit weaker than Chelsea even with the lack of player acquisitions this summer (well they had Pulisic and Kovacic.  Lol).  I think...

Interesting, besides the two historic teams, there are other things that are more interesting to me, because there will be 2 big teams that will be in one group. Look at Real Madrid and Athletico in pot 2, they will definitely meet the another big teams also in the same group. I can't wait for that, if Liverpool can meet again to Real Madrid, it will be revenge mission for Liverpool.

As a Real Madrid fan, i hope we get an easy group and not something like Man City, Inter, Leipzig.

Why not lol?

A good team should be able to proceed even if they're in hell. And those 'lesser-known teams' doesn't guarantee that they won't surprise you.
That's true, especially given our current form, but I'd rather have Zenit or Dinamo Zagreb in the group than Inter or Leipzig  Cheesy

@buwaytress better luck next time!

Btw, did anyone see the alleged pic showing the UEFA Men's Player of the Year? Seems like it leaked (could be fake) and the results were: Winner - Messi, 2nd Van Dijk, 3rd CR7. Consolation award to Messi for bottling the CL semis yet again? LOL We'll see...

expect to have them in the same group, it would be interesting to see how the matches would turn out if it comes to that

regarding pots, even in first pot there are some teams that could drop out in group stage - like Zenit, i do not know how they are making the pots, but there is always some middle quality teams in the first pot

@toma yikes. The score was only 1-0 but Cluj really looked out of depth, from the scenes I could see!

Didn't watch any of the Brugge matches but wow are they kicking it up! Mignolet must really be getting excited about his prospects of rather unexpected Champs League football. Good for the lad.

There really isn't much difference in Pot 1 and 2 in terms of quality, I would say only experience in Europe. Pots 3 and 4 at least look really exciting on paper. Dark Horse Leipzig?

During the time that the group stage pot today going on we can see groups with big team differences in it.This is normal because this year many teams not from the major European leagues have made it to the group stages.

Teams from these leagues will have a very hard time in this year Champions but we have also seen surprises last year when Cska Moscow beat Real Madrid so maybe we can see again this year.

It's not to say Madrid wouldn't qualify even if they were in the group of death, it just makes things a little bit easier when you're in a weaker group, there is no way you'll compare facing Manchester city to playing any of the weaker sides, quality counts in the champions league.

Madrid would need a miracle to miss being in a tough group and they are in pot two, we'll have to wait for the draw and see who gets who this time around.

Your are right on pot draw today. Many team could be in bad position and this is something to look for. Many calculations and possible outcome from this draw. Many possible detach groups.

Pot 1
Liverpool (ENG, holders)
Chelsea (ENG, UEFA Europa League winners)
Barcelona (ESP)
Manchester City (ENG)
Juventus (ITA)
Bayern (GER)
Paris (FRA)
Zenit (RUS)

Pot 2
Real Madrid (ESP) coefficient 146.000
Atlético Madrid (ESP) 127.000
Borussia Dortmund (GER) 85.000
Napoli (ITA) 80.000
Shakhtar Donetsk (UKR) 80.000
Tottenham Hotspur (ENG) 78.000
Ajax (NED) 70.500
Benfica (POR) 68.000

Pot 3
Lyon (FRA) 61.500
Bayer Leverkusen (GER) 61.000
Salzburg (AUT) 54.500
Olympiacos (GRE) 44.000
Club Brugge (BEL) 39.500
Valencia (ESP) 37.000
Internazionale Milano (ITA) 31.000
GNK Dinamo (CRO) 29.500

Pot 4
Lokomotiv Moskva (RUS) 28.500
Genk (BEL) 25.000
Galatasaray (TUR) 22.500
RB Leipzig (GER) 22.000
Slavia Praha (CZE) 21.500
Crvena zvezda (SRB) 16.750
Atalanta (ITA) 14.945
LOSC Lille (FRA) 11.699

With this pots i mean look at this group Liverpool Real Inter and Lokomotiv. Isn't this one hell of the group. Or maybe this pick MNC one of Madrid clubs Leverkusen and Genk or Galatasaray.
So many possible combinations and this this time we could have more then one death group.

So, no surprises tonight and now we know all participants of UEFA Champions league.
Slavia 1:0 Cluj. Slavia reached another deserved victory and they are just better team. I remember them from last Europa league season and I really like to watch how they are playing.
Ajax 2:0 Apoel. After bad performance last week, now we saw totally one sided game. I don't agree with referee decision to cancel one their goal, IMO it was passive offside.
Brugge 2:1 LASK. Most interesting match. Brugge reaches group stage But I'm impressed about LASK, they played very well until red card as obvious underdog.

Ajax didn't had that much trouble. About that VAR moment you're right. Veltman didn't took part to the game of the goal.

Today I'm going with Apoel to qualify.
Well that sucks...current record: 10W | 15L

Ajax 2:0 Apoel. After bad performance last week, now we saw totally one sided game.
Yeah, i was pretty shocked watching Apoel today after their outstanding performance last week, they looked like a team who had 3-0 advantage in the aggregate score  Lips sealed

Well, now we wait for the group stage draw next Thursday. As a Real Madrid fan, i hope we get an easy group and not something like Man City, Inter, Leipzig. Hopefully Ajax will get something like Liverpool, Valencia, Atalanta LOL

Ajax will get into a tough position if APOEL FC are able to score even 1 goal against Ajax due to the away goal advantage in this match, so I guess the players of Ajax will focus on their defense too while attacking aggressively in this match. The odds payout on Ajax to win the match in full time against APOEL FC is low but I think Ajax should be able to eliminate APOEL FC, and this might ends up as a low scoring game for both teams.

Ajax is not having a good defensive line.
This was obvious at their previous round leg when they faced PAOK.
I would go for a bet APOEL winning and over 2,5 goals in the match.

Ajax should play seriously for real tonight and not just think that we have the qualifiers on our pocket, that can be a self-destructing mentality even for team like Ajax.APOEL has got nothing to lose,if they lose the game they are already qualified for Europa League group stages so they will play stress free tonight,I would not be that surprised if the game end 0-0 and is solved on extra time or penalties.

I have a contrary opinion, I know it's going to be a tricky match for Ajax as they don't have any other advantage different from playing at home, but I'm sure they'll win the match rather convincingly.

Ajax to win at halftime with an odd of 1.59 seem quite of value, IMO.
A single goal from APOEL Nicosia will be enough to eliminate Ajax from the competition, both goalkeepers were in superb form during the first leg of  the game but with Ajax playing at home, i believe they have a great chance of qualifying unless APOEL can dash their dreams like Tottenham Hotspurs did last season.

I will go for something unique. Betting on Ajax in not so logical. This ain't the same team as last season. Two leaders sold to other clubs, the team doesn't have this flow, the defense is unsure. You never know what they gonna get today. Especially considering that they're in a hard, must-have situation.
I understood your thought but, if you see what Ajax got to offer today you will be very sure that they will perform beyond expectations in this game. Their flop during their last game was a reason to disbelieve them but, that is the power of soccer. Come sun or rain, Ajax will take this game up seriously because of their reputation.

Well Ajax would probably win.

Last season they weren't that good in the beginning of the season. The team had to grow and hopefully they will grow this season as well.
