Some surprising results in Champions League Qualifications, Rangers lost from Malmo and it could be second club from Scotland to miss Champions League if they don't win at home next leg.
I expected Olympiacos to win but they only managed to get a 1:1 draw in last minutes of the match, and now Ferencvaros is leading with two goals against Slavia Prague.
Second leg is going to be even harder to predict but my early pick is on Rangers to win.

For me there were no big surprises, Celtic and Rangers are not the teams they used to be, but Rangers still have a chance for promotion. But it won't be easy.

For both Prague teams it will be over in this round, but they will both continue in the Europa League group stage and there they can collect points.
Rangers lost and will have to win big at home. Gerrard is a really good manager and will probobly make a good tactic they arent fighting a tough opponent but they will have to play outstanding at home to win. Slavia Prague lost due to a goalkeeper mistake and has to recover two goals

Well, they don't have to win that big I would say. If they can score a 2 to 0 they get the job done, and even with a 2 - 1 they make it to extra time. It will be hard though if Malmo manages to score first there, but the Rangers are definitely at tough opponent for almost any team in a home game.

I still see a good chance for Rangers and promotion, but you shouldn't underestimate Malmö, as RedBull Salzburg have seen a few times when they lost to Malmö as favourites or were knocked out in the play-offs. Malmö has become a good middle class team in Europe in recent years and you should not underestimate them from the start.

Wouldn't bookies consider that type of news anyway when it is publicly discussed that heavily? This is actually an interesting question so it would be good to know if someone knew both the odds from before the deal was discussed and now that it is publicly known Messi is talking to PSG.

Too late, I already placed my bet on them before the odds slide  Grin https://sportsbet.io/sharebetslip/3df4aef2-2f6f-4926-b265-6805133ec06d

Man City top 2 in EPL, Bayern Munich Bundesliga winner and PSG CL winner at boosted 7.18x odds is a no-brainer. It's not like Messi's going to stay a free agent the whole season, Man City already bought Grealish and aren't interested in him anymore, the rest of the rumors surrounding his transfer to other clubs (except for PSG) are a laughingstock.

No silliness this time around like I did with England - Denmark in the euros: just straight-up facts.

Does anyone know the current odds of PSG winning the CL now that Messi's on the brink of joining them?

Might be a good idea to take advantage of this market if it's still available (and bookies offer it at this time) before a deal is confirmed.

Bookies don't change odds based on rumors or "talkings". It's well known that when (and if) these rumors being a fact, odds for PSG taking the CL will definitely change. I don't know how much and I don't believe that will change dramatically. However, bookies will know and it's more than sure that they will be prepared. After all, we are talking about Messi.

Spartak Moscow have started the League and of course it's a different condition and also, the quality of these two teams has a real difference I think. As for Benfica starting the season this weekend in fact, Spartak Moscow have the same schedule and in fact, they are already preoccupied with the already running faster League. That's what I say these two teams have different conditions, with Benfica's better quality and more favorable timing then of course Benfica will be able to win against Spartak Moscow in the first leg and maybe in the second, even though a draw is enough for him.

Benfica has already won the first match in this confrontation (yesterday) and with a handicap of two goals in reserve and playing at home, most likely it has already guaranteed itself an exit to the next round. Theoretically, a miracle can happen and Spartak will score two goals in the return leg, but after the first game it's hard to believe.

Spartak was a disappointment, Benfica is a good team, but they will start season this weekend, and Spartak is already playing, but obviously difference is quality is to big to overcome simply by this
For the second leg, I feel Benfica will still win the game by more than 2 goals. After winning 2-0 in the first leg, Benfica will have the second leg match on 11 August vs Spartak Moscow. Even though it's safe to only draw Benfica, I don't think the match will end in a draw. Benfica will be the favorite once again.
In that match, Spartak Moscow was actually more superior but it was clear when the match took place Benfica played quite well and Benfica could be said to be very lucky to beat Spartak with a score of 0-2 and of course it became a very good capital when later playing in the second leg, but even so Spartak still has a chance to qualify for the next round, especially this season, UEFA has officially abolished the away goals rule so that both teams still have a chance to qualify for the last qualification before heading to the Champions League group phase next season.

Opposing teams really do score screamers against Dinamo. Tough to take, Dinamo was better overall and deserved the win going into 2nd leg.

Still, since the away goal rules do not apply anymore, Dinamo can play at their own tempo without having to rush for the goal and it will give them the needed stability. They are the better team, which was obvious to see yesterday, and I hope they will show that in the 2nd leg.

There was a lot of fans unrest in Zagreb, it will be messy in Poland again.
Dynamo played very well, but if they could not realize their advantage in the goals scored, then this is only the merit of Legia. In football, it happens that it is not the strongest team that wins. Hopefully in the return match Dynamo will be able to convert chances into goals scored. But in the second match Legia will play at home and the fans can be an additional help to them.

Yeah, I was killed by all these results, betting ML on Rangers, Olympiacos, Prague. Worst, also put them all in different accas together. Rangers were really, really good value betting in Europa last season, and they had such a great start in their league too, thumping first win while Celtic lost their first.

Which makes me wonder if I should still back Celtic tonight. They seem to be on a horrendous downward spiral. Rangers at least know how to score AND defend at home, so that goal they scored in Sweden will be super important (not that we have away goals anymore).

Ferencvaros secured 2:0 at home, Slavia conceived goal by their keeper, and it will be hard for them to overcome the score at home, although easier than last season, since there is no away goal rule
same on Dinamo - Legia, with this score, Legia would pass-through with goalless draw at home, and now they need to win to pass-through

What a late goal by Legia to secure a draw in Zagreb. This is a huge step for Legia to get a draw away.

It wasnt that late though, it was on 82nd minutes and the 20 years old goalscorer was subbed in at 75th minutes . This was probably the best 15 minutes for him though to be able to score in that 115 minutes and ensure that his team still have a good chance on the 2nd leg. I checked his overal performances last season and he played for a total of 8 matches and never score any goals

I guess he is pretty lucky huh

Odds from bookmakers for today's match Spartak - Benfica look like this:

3,25 - 3,20 - 2,25

To be honest, I'm surprised that Benfica is considered a favorite even when playing on a foreign field. In my opinion, the bet on the victory of Spartak has a very attractive coefficient.

In theory, Benfica have a better team than Spartak.
But, Spartak has the advantage of the championship having already started and already has a bigger game routine, different from Benfica that until now has only made friendly matches.

Now I see  Grin
I confess I'm surprised that Spartak showed such a sluggish game despite the fact that it seemed to have factors in its favor. I was very lucky that I watched the first minutes of the game, saw dangerous moments at the Spartak goal and changed my mind about betting. I think in this pair the confrontation is already over.

Benfica won against Spartak 0:2. Not much what to say about game, simply better team won and they have confident advantage before 2nd leg at home.
Ferencvaros won against Slavia 2:0 and I think it's surprise. Slavia conceded very stupid own goal, when goalkeeper after defender pass didn't managed to stop ball:

Dinamo 1:1 Legia. Legia managed to score on last minutes. Didn't watched game, so, can't say much about it.
