They are hands down most boring team to watch park the bus play but I hope Suarez signing will change that at least a bit.
Yaps, Suarez will make a difference to Atletico Madrid's attacking pattern. As one of Laliga's great team, Atletico Madrid can always be seeded over other teams but they have a style of play that doesn't reflect that they are a big team. They have good defensive skill and are often a bit boring, they play carefully and rely on counter attack. I don't think they'll win the Champion League, but they can still be counted as candidate.

I believe more in Atletico Madrid's success in the Champions League than Real Madrid or Barcelona, but whether Simeone's team will have enough patience this time around is unknown.

I also consider Atletico to be a strong team in La Liga, and I also wish it to win the Champions League! In any case, I think she will play at least 1/4!

What is going on today ? Slavia praga has almost 3 odd to win tonight and for me this looks like even a bait odd or a free winning odd but I don't know which one yet haha. PAOK might have a hard game today as Krasnodar has a bigger experience into UEFA games so this might be a winning factor for them.

I don't think that Krasnodar win today!

I do think the money in football needs to be stemmed. And maybe Covid will force it to change... but it's not all bad. The romances are getting rarer, but oh, so much sweeter.
It needs to be regulated for sure. Financial fair play is a joke and everybody knows it, just check the "exchange" of players between Barca and Juve or the fine City got instead of CL disqualification. I don't like Mourinho an d his media outbursts in general but he had a great comment on that fine. I will now paraphrase it since I don't feel like looking for a exact quote. He said something on line that "City fine is a disgrace. Either you are guilty and disqualified or you are not guilty and you should not pay any fine." I agree with that 100%. This way it just shows that it is all about money.

Atletico don’t play an expansive game of football. They defend, defend, defend! The winner of the CL is usually a progressive, attacking team. I don’t think Atleti will come even close to being champion of Europe.
They are hands down most boring team to watch park the bus play but I hope Suarez signing will change that at least a bit. Their last game was a goal fest and I will check them out tonight to see how they look. There could be some great money made on both to score markets if they decide to play more open and all those bookie algorithms need a month or two before catching up and changing the odds.

Football romance died a long time ago and today it's all about money.

In general I do agree with the problem of money but I'm not much moaning about it -- I think even in the 1990s already people were saying romance died in football a long time ago, and there's always this generational shift about attitudes and that's just humans being nostalgic.

What I don't agree with is that romance died. It's perhaps harder to see, and harder to achieve but in a sense that only makes the success stories even more romantic. Leicester winning the title? Bloody hell. Guy plays non league football to appearing in Champions League.

And the international transfers allowed us to see Ronaldo on the big stage. Imagine if he got stuck playing in Portugal.

Or Robertson still being a parking attendant 5 years ago and moaning on Twitter about needing more money haha.

I do think the money in football needs to be stemmed. And maybe Covid will force it to change... but it's not all bad. The romances are getting rarer, but oh, so much sweeter.

Yeah Koeman is a good coach. I have no doubt about his abilities. But it is very difficult to win the league title without good striker. If Messi will leave Barcelona, who will play as his replacement? So, I think they should pick Messi's replacement in advance. On the other hand, Barcelona's defense is not so good. It also needs to change a bit. Otherwise it is not possible to win a match with a big team.
Don't they have Griezmann? I know that they are playing him in wing positions but earlier he used to play in striker positions. IIRC I think he used to play as a striker in Atletico right?
Also there is Martin Braithwaite , not sure how good he is but have seen him in striker position while Setien was managing Barcelona.

Griezman is a good striker. He has some great skill. Personally, I like him. But I don't know why Koeman didn't giving him a chance to play forward with Messi. Koeman could have arranged the formation to 3-2-3-2.
Martin Braithwaite is not bad player. But I don't think he deserves to play in the forward position of a big team like Barcelona. He needs to work harder.

I agree with your thought bro. We are always waiting to see the big team’s match. Football is totally dependent on money. If there is a rule like 1980, I think there will be some stability in all the teams of the club.

I think that today's match PAOK - Krasnodar will win the home team! And they will be able to get the group stage! Especially since they managed to score a guest goal!
I bet on the victory of PAOK with an rate 2.1... Smiley

it is getting interesting in Hungary, still 0:0 at the half time, and Ferencvaros is good with this result
i am quite amused that Molde is not trying to score, or they cannot score, but in the first half, there was no desire from their side to secure Champions league this season, and Ferencvaros is playing smart, defending the score that suits them

will be interesting second half, and maybe first group stage for Hungarian team

edit: Ferencvaros is in the group stage of Champions league, congrats
Not the first time, but it was long time ago, it was in 95/96 season. Also, Debreceni VSC played in group stage in 2009/10 season. Ferencvaros is biggest club in Hungary, but they didn't qualified to Champions league for so long.

yeah, you are right, that was before more teams from one country are introduced to Champions league, so it was easier for a team from smaller countries to reach group stage, now it is a lot harder
nevertheless, good to point out that they were already part of CL group stage

and they will be bottom listed, as team with smallest coefficient in group stage

In fact, by the end of the 1980s and while there was still a rule about a maximum of three foreign players at the club, many small clubs like Steaua, Zvezda and others had the chance to win the Champions League..
Today, something like that has become an impossible mission and always the same 6 or 7 clubs are favourites to win the Champions League every year.
Big clubs would even like their own European Super League in which small clubs and countries would not have access.

3 more games today. I'm pretty confident that RB Salzburg are in group stage already, despite that they won first game just 2:1.
Midtjylland - Slavia first game was very boring, I hope 2nd leg will be better because both teams are able to play nice attacking football.
And PAOK - Krasnodar should be interesting game. Krasnodar won first one, but PAOK scored important away goal.

Bayern will take all the cups this year, and if they manage to keep the pace, they will defend the Champions League title. They look very strong. Their domestic league is weaker, you can save energy for the Champions League.

Just be a little patient man...
We are still in the beginning of the season you can't say that Bayern is going to win everything again.
Many team such as Real Madrid are still dangerous and competitive and can win Bayern in knockout games.
On top of that, many things can change during the winter transfer window - Bayern might be weakened who knows...
Real Madrid? A bad example: In the Champions League, Real Madrid will not be competitive for at least the next 2-3 years. Real Madrid can only count on La Liga, but even there it has serious competitors.
I think it so. Even it is true for Barcelona too . They are not in their previous deadly position . It will take a few years for them to adjust .Koeman wants to reorganize the Barcelona team in a completely new way . I look forward to seeing Barcelona's previous offensive performance.

Koeman was the right coach to get the Dutch team back on track. After he become the coach the reached the finale of the Nation Legaue after a few years with qualifing for the Worl Cup/European Cup.
If he does the same for Barcelona, the prizes will come.

I was surprised to see that from now on away and home games are being played. Does make it a lot fair. Yet those matches that were only 1 match were full of more spectacle.

The 1 match only games were great. The away teams didn't went for just a draw to finish it at the home match. Now they had to fight for it directly. For the stage matches it's more fair to play home and away-games.

I doubt if all the games will be played now Covid-19 is on his way back in many countries around Europe.

There was no home or away matches in the last part of last UCL because of Covid19 and that was a fair decision of course since the UCL was postponed and there was not enough time to cover all the matches in that time.

We are still in the beginning of the season you can't say that Bayern is going to win everything again.

Exactly, If welook at the local strength, they have become a solid team. But, if we talk about UCL, it will be different for Bayern. In my opinion, Bayern were lucky at UCL last year because Madrid and Barcelona have a problem with their players. If they return to their best performance this season, it will also be tough for Bayern to be able to defend the trophy they won last season. Liverpool will return to improve their performance for UCL this season after failing to reach the final last season. don't forget about Man City who have improved in transfer window. I think this season will be hard for Bayern compared to last season in UCL competition

Absolutely... And we should not forget what happened last season.
Bayern was on 4th position of the German league till January. After that they started increasing their performance rates and they reached to the Champions League win. Step-by-step happened... This year might be Barcelona, Real or Bayern but it is still very early to say that.
