Smart is not enough, there must be skills
I predict: Spain, Germany, Portugal, France, Netherlands, Austria, England and Switzerland will win.

your prediction is not wrong, even I as an Italian am convinced that Italy will lose against Switzerland. There is no game and in the past it would have been a fairly easy match instead now it has practically become a challenging match that the Italian national team will surely lose.
Don't be pessimistic for Italy there is still hope to beat Switzerland while Italy still has a mentality in the big competition even though the game is declining I don't need to underestimate it.
Not yet seen the betting market for this knockout round, whether the odds of Switzerland and Italy are almost the same or there is a big difference, but in the match no team is looking for safety they must win if they want to qualify while Italy still has hope.

I watched the Türkiye Czechia match last night. If Barak was not kicked out and the Czech Republic was left with 10 players, the Turkish National Team's job would have been very difficult.
The Czech Republic was the better side in my opinion. Even though there were 10 men in the first half, the Czech Republic had the clearest scoring opportunity of the match, but Mert blocked the goal.
Hakan scored a good goal at minute 51 of the second half.
When the Czech Republic saw the goal in their goal, they attacked and I think the goal they scored was a foul, but neither the referee nor the Var Referees canceled the goal.
After this minute, the Czech Republic attacked for the victory, but Turkey scored the winning goal with Cenk Tosun from the counter attack.
Türkiye advanced to the next round, but it is difficult in this round. They will play against Austria, whom they previously lost 6-1 in a friendly match.
I am also looking forward to the result of the match.

The only interesting match from the 1/8 finals would probably be France-Belgium. I watched Belgium-Ukraine and I'm not impressed at all by the Belgian team. Why they didn't put some effort and win against Ukraine, so that they could get a better opponent in the elimination stage?
In all the other matches, the favorites would most likely win against the outsiders. Georgia won against Portugal 2-0 but this is probably because Portugal had already won their group. Anyway, the Euro 2024 is getting more and more boring to me. Maybe the teams will start playing for real in the next stage.
Well, the excitement will start to get even more exciting in the round of 16. Because at that stage strong teams will face other strong teams. but for the Belgium vs France match, I think France will be the favorite for the majority of us. Because Mbappe and his friends are much more reliable than De Bruyne and his friends at this Euro. I think many have started to think that there is nothing special about Belgium this time. Even Lukaku seemed to have lost his sharpness at the Euro this time.

but in the round of 16 we haven't fully seen the favorite team face the favorite team. and the real excitement will definitely be in the quarter-finals, semi-finals and of course in the Final.

France's match against Belgium will of course be one of the favorite matches, but in my opinion Spain's match against Georgia might not be less exciting because of course I saw that against Portugal, Georgia managed to win the match with a score of 2-0. . Meanwhile, Spain is also of course a strong team and of course until now no team has been able to beat it and I'm sure this match will be eagerly awaited. yes, but I also don't know whether Portugal's technique is to maintain fitness when playing against Georgia or what and the coach is more concerned with the match in the round of 16. but it is true that a serious match will definitely start and of course all teams will be serious about winning the match.

The teams that entered the top 16 are of course all strong teams and it is certain that from now on the serious struggle for all teams will begin. De Bruyne is a strong player and his performance looks good at Manchester City, but of course we will not know his performance when playing against France, but I am sure De Bruyne will fight as hard as he can to defend his country and I am sure he will do well. Mbappe is also very great and will definitely try his best and play well for France. In my opinion, in the round of 16 De Bruyne and Mbappe will definitely show their best performance and this time it is difficult for us to predict.

Of course the excitement will start in the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals, but now we are enjoying the excitement and competition in the round of 16 first.

It was such a crazy match that Turkey's meeting against the Czechs had to end in chaos between the players which made the referee have to issue so many cards. I know the Czechs' desire is to beat Turkey to secure the best third place after only collecting one point from the previous two matches. But I think Turkey won't let that happen and therefore they have to win convincingly if they want to qualify for the knockout rounds without any problems.

Towards the final minute, Turkey dashed Czech hopes through Cenk Tosun's goal and that was also a sign that the Czechs didn't have another chance. However, I thought it would all end well, but what happened was that all the players were involved in problems and the ones who suffered the most were of course several Turkish players who had to get yellow cards. The reason is that if they get another yellow card in the next match, of course some of their players will have to be absent and that will reduce their strength.

After leaving the group stage behind and the draw we have, I'm expecting all the favourites to win except Italy. I just can't trust them with this poor level performance.

Italy weren't like they were on the pitch against Spain and they barely saved 1 point against Croatia as well. Life savers like this wouldn't happen all the time. Switzerland are doing pretty well. They even made difficulties for Germany you know and didn't lose to them. If they are able to stand strong there, they should be able to do it way better against this Italy. I'm afraid the last champion isn't playing good at all...  Sad

I am more interested in the three matches in the Round of 16.

  • Switzerland vs Italy
  • France vs Belgium
  • Austria vs Turkey

There is no doubt that these three matches will be very competitive. Besides, all the remaining matches are more likely to be one-sided. Unless the renowned teams make any major mistakes in the match. England, Germany, Spain and Portugal compete against Slovakia, Denmark, Georgia and Slovenia respectively. These teams are not that strong. So England, Germany, Spain and Portugal will not have a tough road to qualify for the quarter finals. However, it is impossible to predict with certainty which two of the four teams Switzerland, Italy, France and Belgium will qualify for the next round.
For the Switzerland vs Italy match, I agree that this is a match that will be quite fierce and difficult to predict, we have seen the performance of the two teams in the group phase and indeed when compared, the two do not have a significant difference in quality so Switzerland and Italy still have the same percentage. the same to be able to qualify for the round of 8.

However, for the France vs Belgium match, I think it is not that difficult for France, it is clear that the French team has much stronger strength than Belgium, in the group phase we can see that Belgium is not as strong as before, I think this will be an easy match for France.

The Austria vs Turkey match is also fierce, but Austria is a surprise team that is able to perform very well at this Euro so I think they have a slightly greater percentage of winning the match than Turkey.

And other teams are indeed favourites, but I'm sure there will be surprises, at this Euro the average team has even strength so it's hard to predict and lots of surprises will happen, like what happened in the group phase.

it must be said that this European championship is quite balanced but obviously the big clubs will come out when they are cornered as they always have been and certainly Italy and Switzerland will be a beautiful match, a beautiful match with a lot of tension, considering the fact that for now the top scorer of the tournament is a player from georgia I would say that we can expect everything from this tournament, but in my opinion we still have to wait to see the big national teams come out

England has been in this tournament with so many good and over hyped players but still nothing to show for in 3 games only 2 goals and some still see them as one of the favorite to win the tournament. Their forwards haven't lived up to the expectation with the likes of Foden, Harry Kane, Bellingham and the Arsenal man Saka, this made one of Arsenal's legend Ian Wright who loves to see Saka play, came out to say;

Quote
Wright explained: "With how naturally left-sided Saka is, can we put Saka at left-back and Palmer on the right-hand side?"

What's wrong with England? The root of the problem and the obstacle to England truly maximizing its star players is Southgate. There is no other national team like England, in every line there are important players whose contributions have been proven. But in the hands of coach Southgate everything is lost, and nothing amazes our eyes when we watch it. England will face Slovakia in the round of 16, where on paper England is superior because it consists of star players, but on the field Slovakia can actually dominate and will make England worthy of being eliminated.

A suggestion I don't think he's suppose to come up with...

All Ian Wright said
I mean how can he say or suggestion such a thing to a man like Saka who has won the England best player 2 times (correct me if I'm wrong) and getting him to play as a left back, even if Palmer is to play I think is best Southgate drops Saka on the bench after he hasn't shown much impact than playing him as a left back, no matter how Saka has managed to grow to this level, we know he started as a left back and that's in the past, how can England come to a competition without a natural left back.
To me Ian Wright shouldn't have said it at all about Saka, fine he hasn't performed as the fans expected but not to that level, Southgate should start Palmer ahead of Saka instead or better still play both players since Foden is going to attend to some family issue (expecting a baby soon), that position should be replaced with either Saka or Palmer, even Bowen is available, for Saka to play as a left back is a no no for me.

France vs Belgium is a biggest match in the Round of 16. Belgium reputation and squad strength drop a lot since their failure in Euro 2020 and World Cup 2022 but they still have big names in their squad and with unimpressive performances of France so far, Belgium can make a shock in this round.

If all strong teams win in the Round of 16, except France vs Belgium with only one strong team will go to quarter final round, we will have chance to watch one of the most exciting quarter final rounds in history of EURO.

Most of teams like Spain, Germany, Portugal, England, Italy, France / Belgium, Netherlands, Turkey already won Euro titles in history. Only Turkey and Belgium did not win any Euro title.

After Turkey qualified for the next round, they are our opponents. Austria is currently stronger than ever and to be honest I don't see any chance for Turkey to beat our team because today they only managed to win against the Czechs by a narrow margin, even though they played 70 minutes with one red card.
Austria surprised by beating the Netherlands but I'm not discouraged by Turkey because this team still deserves to win in this knockout round, maybe it can be said that the team is balanced because Turkey is also a team that cannot be underestimated.

At least with a 2-1 Czech win it's better than nothing, I know the Czechs were down to 10 men but Turkey seemed to struggle a bit but in the final game Turkey scored their winner, more disappointed that Portugal lost even though they had qualified early.

France vs Belgium certainly attracts attention, but we have also seen how the battles during the group stage are so many big matches but they cannot be considered exciting. So don't be surprised if the France vs Belgium match will not be interesting. For me, national teams that are not considered exciting will be much more likely to present surprises, Austria vs Turkey, England vs Slovakia where England, who lack tactics, will face difficulties, Southgate will soon be fired due to his failure. Romania vs Netherlands is also a team full of mediocre players worth paying attention to. There will always be a dark horse team that will advance more optimistically to compete in the quarter-finals. Maybe Spain also needs to be wary of Georgia game, because in their last match they were able to hold off Portugal without scoring a goal, meaning that Spain should not take this team lightly.
That is what everyone would be keeping their eyes for, we all have seen how the group stages played out so I won't be surprised if there would an upset by any small nations so when betting one need to be careful because one of these may just have something up their sleeves. Well I don't think Georgia can cause upset against Spain but the team I really concerned about would be the English men.

The best 3rd placed teams that qualify in round of 16 are: Netherlands, Georgia, Slovakia, and Slovenia. Only Netherlands is lucky since they meet Romania, while the rest of them meet strong countries.
Netherlands will have chance to go to semi final if beating Romania, then a possible opponent in quarter final Turkey. Their possible opponent in semi final can be Italy or England if these big teams win in round of 16 and quarter final.

Quote
Too bad that Belgium will meet France, top #2 vs top #3, even though I'm completely believe France will win.

I predict: Spain, Germany, Portugal, France, Netherlands, Austria, England and Switzerland will win.
Switzerland will meet Italy which don't have good performances so far but I don't think Switzerland will be strong enough to outperform Italy in round of 16. They can win the match and go to quarter final but Italy will not be a weak opponent and difference in the match will be small, even if Switzerland win.

Portugal might have problems with Slovenia and Turkey with many cards in their group matches and player suspensions will have problems with Austria too. Turkey might lose that match to Austria but Portugal might become a biggest shock in round of 16.

Looking at the draw after the end of the group stage, the teams I think to reach quarter finals are Spain, Germany, Portugal, France, Netherlands, Austria, England and Switzerland.

Spain should be just fine with beating Georgia but I appreciate Georgia's determination to reach last 16 phase despite joining a Euro for the first time in history.  Smiley

I don't like Denmark now. They aren't playing like in Euro 2020. Germany should be able to beat them nicely while they are in good shape. I liked Switzerland so far unlike Italy. I think they have the strength to advance.  Smiley

Portugal, England and Netherlands have easy work on paper. Austria outweigh Turkey too. If Turkey don't defend better, which doesn't seem likely to me already, then Austria wouldn't be forgiving considering how strong they are.

Belgium are just done.  Sad  The golden generation is long gone. I don't expect them to hold off France even though I didn't like France's game very much so far.
From all that, I am quite sure there will be a surprise in the round of 16.
In the group phase we could see several teams that were not favorites but were able to make a surprise by successfully qualifying for the round of 16 and the most surprising was Georgia, now they have quite high self-confidence but Spain is also a quite strong opponent for them.

It's not a joke or not, but we also have to be realistic, Belgium didn't show a good performance in the group phase so in terms of strength France is better than them so I don't think that Belgium can stop France's progress.

The Euro has been boring since the beginning of the tournament and it is because the way we expect the players to perform is not the way they play, all the group's stage matches just look boring but since the group stage has ended and we have seen the teams that play in the round of 16 matches maybe the game will not be boring like before, the round of 16 have matches has been drawing and with the looks of it the competition will still be boring, the only match that will be very interesting in the stage is France vs Belgium, France vs Belgium match is going to be tough because if you look at France squad we have, Mbape, Dembele, kante, Camavinga, Tchoumeni and others good players and if you look at Belgium squad they have De Bruyne, Lukaku, Doku and some good players also, in the match, we should be expecting both teams to score because they are capable of scoring goals against each other, and for me, I can’t predict the match because it is going to be a tough match.
It seems that the round of 16 at this time does not have the potential to give us a bigmatch match, indeed we see Francis and Belgium meeting in the round of 16 match but I doubt if the match is worthy of being said to be a bigmatch, so far Belgium journey has not been very good and even they were lucky enough not to lose to Ukraine in their last match yesterday, I personally am inclined to see if the match between Austria and Turkey is more interesting because it is indeed throughout the group stage, Austria and Turkey were able to perform quite well and consistently in their games, compared to Belgium who in my opinion, they have entered the end of their glory as a team that was previously filled with many star players so far.

France certainly has a star squad that can currently be said to be one of the favorites to win this year's euros, so I don't think we will find any exciting matches later when Belgium and France meet, in fact if we evaluate the performance of the two teams it looks like France will win easily over Belgium.

If you watched the game, there would be times when Belgium created wonderful opportunities but failed to capitalize. Belgium also launched a proper counterattack at times, but it was squandered due to their attackers' failure to respond.
Lukaku was the biggest disappointment for Belgium against Ukraine; he squandered some golden opportunities.

In all the other matches, the favorites would most likely win against the outsiders. Georgia won against Portugal 2-0 but this is probably because Portugal had already won their group. Anyway, the Euro 2024 is getting more and more boring to me. Maybe the teams will start playing for real in the next stage.
Two goals from Georgia were enough to send Ronaldo out of the field. And this is his first time failing to score in the group stage of a national competition. Then again, I strongly agree with you on how boring Euro 2024 is.

Perhaps Ukraine did not allow them to do this? I’m surprised why Ukraine played the first match so poorly, and even more surprised that the team with 4 points was left without the playoffs, and the fact that Slovakia were ahead them in the table, which lost to them. But France became Belgium's rivals, I'm not sure that anyone will be able to beat them, despite the fact that France had a very weak group stage, for me they are all one of the favorites of the tournament. And Georgia is the least fortunate, because Spain looks gorgeous.

Ukraine's performances against Slovakia and Belgium were very good. Ukraine's defenders performed well against Belgium. However, Ukraine's defense performed poorly against Romania in the first match. Despite Ukraine trying to dominate the match against Romania, poor performances from the defenders resulted in Ukraine losing the match by a large margin.

Against Romania, Ukraine's players had 72% of the ball possession. Made a total of 13 shots. On the other hand, Romania's players were able to make 9 shots with 28% ball possession. If Ukraine's defense could have performed a little better in this match, maybe Ukraine would not have been defeated by such a big margin. Ukraine lost 3-0. However, in the next two matches, Ukraine solved their defensive problems. The team won 2-1 against Slovakia and did not concede a single goal against a strong team like Belgium. However, the Ukraine team was at the bottom of the table due to conceding 3 goals in the first match.
