It was the 200th game, not a goal. He scored 123 goals for the Portuguese national team, and even taking into account the fact that FIFA is raping the game calendar by inventing new moronic competitions + expanding the number of teams in the final part of tournaments, it’s hard for me to imagine that someone can surpass this result (maybe Mbappe?). I hope he will not stop and raise the bar as high as possible.

He's really strong, a great professional. I remember that in my beloved Juventus Pavel Nedved was like him too, he did extra training before and after, without anyone asking him.
This means being a professional

England are very dominant in their group now. They even defeated Italy away as well. I think we can already assume they will finish the group as the leader. This win over North Macedonia by 7-0 isn't surprising at all. There is a huge quality gap and England just showed it in action. Saka's hat-trick was really lovely to watch and Kane also played solid as always. The qualifiers stage is easy for them maybe but they need to keep this up in the main tournament as well. Because they have no titles achieved in a Euro tournament in their history.

In fact this team have such a capacity to win this tournament. They have a squad full of very skilled players. It is all about management as a result. Southgate has been managing them since 2016 but there is still no achievement. If he fails again I think they should start over with a new coach.
Let this game be not a sign of their power. England, on the paper, are always look good but in the tournaments they never get good results as they want, in recent times. Always a disappointment. I think England has the best squad in world football after France at the moment, this squad will last for many years. Other countries have gone through a great generational change and the strongest team is in England at the moment. But, as I said, actual result will be hard and I can't see they win anything. Stones is changed from the centre-back, Trent Alexander Arnold is changed from the right back and they are playing very solidly, I think they found the right position.

If it is said who will surpass Ronaldo's achievements in scoring goals, I have two player options, namely Mbappe and also Haaland.

Mbappe? Maybe. But Håland? I am not sure. His drawback is that he plays for a team that almost never qualifies for major tournaments. So obviously the number of matches get reduced. In case of Mbappe, he plays for a very talented team and the position in the starting XI is not always guaranteed in the long term future. Ronaldo had everything going for him. He played for a comparatively strong team, and he was guaranteed of a position in the XI. And the bets part is that he may continue playing for Portugal for a couple of years more.

Haaland has 24 goals scored in 25 games for the national team. If he maintains such a fantastic scoring he could overtake Ronaldo with even fewer games. Moreover, taking into account the fact that there are more games of national teams and competition in garbage tournaments such as the League of Nations is low, he will have many opportunities.

Whether it has to do with the strange understanding of the Turkish team, I don't know, but they haven't been performing well against worse teams. But they are not the only ones who have trouble against weaker teams. Usually when it was a good team against Liechtenstein, Cyprus and so on it could be said that this game will end with a lot of goals against those weaker teams. But they have become stronger in defending and I have often seen over the years that they keep a clean sheet for quite some time during games against stronger opponents. That makes the superior teams nervous and it works. Six or seven goals was normal, but that isn't normal today. The results look quite average even when it is David against Goliath.
Yes, Turkey has such a problem. We can't dominate the match against small country teams. This is one of our problems. While we make very simple mistakes, we can do really well offensively. I think success can come if we can be a better team defensively. The biggest problem for years has been in the defense and forward area.
I think that's true for a lot of teams, we have seen the world cup and that made it so sure that even big clubs like Spain and Germany failed to dominate against lower level teams. I think that is mainly because teams usually underrate the other teams and that makes it a lot harder for teams to end easier opponent games early.

Even the ones that ended up winning, ended up winning a lot harder and that's why it wasn't really that shocking for Turkey to have something like that too, it wasn't really a big deal for anyone as long as they keep winning and Turkey did end up winning both games in a row, that's good enough if you ask me. As long as teams get three points, how they get it doesn't really feel like it should matter, you won anyway.

Haaland already broke records with Manchester City and he is supposed to be a favorite player to break as many records as possible. I expect a bright future for him if he could avoid injuries.
For Mbappe, staying in PSG will not be very helpful without seeing Qataris investing more money to bring top players and consolidating the team even more.

Just to be clear, if you think they're winning a trophy with Southgate as manager then, that's the area you get it all wrong. ( Yeah I know you didn't say so )
Garreth Southgate is the another Harry Maguire, they have nothing to offer, they're just being protected. They have a great squad but they can't win because they don't have a good shepherd to lead the sheep's. ( This ain't bout sheep's )

Great game yesterday by the way, beautiful goals and good team work. It's a game you can predict the end evens before the kick off.
In thr first half, they just lacked creativity, wasn't comfortable with the usage of Alexander Arnold as a midfielder. Southgate no different from these half baked coaches in Africa.Super Saka, Harry Kane and the rest of the squad...... Fantastic!

This is exactly my point yeah. They need a good shepherd indeed. I don't want to believe that England board can't just convince any solid coach to manage them. It feels like impossible when I think how capable squad they have. It is just full of world star players I mean. Hence I think they have been doing it on purpose. They just don't care about having a World Cup or a Euro title very much. They just don't want to fail big time with a squad like this in hand.

However I believe this must change in the near future immediately. I assume the fans also want to experience the feeling of being champions. The only title won by England is the 1965/66 World Cup title.  Sad

A manager like Pep Guardiola is what I want for them, you already know the qualities he had as a coach, why not pay him all it takes to manage those talented player's, is that too much for them to do? I envy Brazil hearing they'll get to sign Carlos Ancellotti before the next world Cup, despite that being special, I still do think there's a level of truth innit.

England needs a top notch manager, not one of them ex player's, a tactician who knows how to make a bad game go right and a bad player turn good for the squad. They can do better with all of those heavenly talents.

Considering Iceland's style of play, this is a good result. And by the way, despite the fact that many criticize Portugal now it has 4 wins in 4 games, many other top teams have worse results, and for example Poland failed altogether.
Ronaldo is doing everything as before - every game is an update of some record, what kind of player!  Smiley
Portugal managed to wipe out the 4 matches they played with perfect wins, and that put them at the top of Group J.
Talking about Cristiano Ronaldo, at his no longer young age he can create something that is difficult for football players to achieve, and now he has scored his 200th goal with the Portugal national team after he scored in his last game and at the same time the goal was the winning goal for Portugal . This player who is currently playing in the Arab League with Al Nassr is extraordinary.

yes, but he's starting to be no longer as young as he used to be
and he can't pull a whole team by the hair, I don't think this is the case but it's just my reflection

as a professional I consider him a very serious person, but as a man I don't respect him very much
At an increasingly old age, many other players have started to have no faith in Ronaldo and there have been many cases where one of his own team, if in front of the opponent's goal, prefers to shoot directly rather than having to provide feedback to Ronaldo to have a chance to score.
For the Portuguese national team, I admit Ronaldo has been very meritorious and has provided many goals for Portugal.
If it is said who will surpass Ronaldo's achievements in scoring goals, I have two player options, namely Mbappe and also Haaland.

Ronaldo is definitely a great player and legend, both in terms of the number of appearances and the number of goals for the Portuguese national team.
However, Ronaldo is no longer a young player and no longer plays at the top level.
At the World Cup in Qatar, with his selfish behavior and public expression of dissatisfaction with the selectors' decision not to play the first match of the knockout phase, he damaged the result and the game of the Portuguese national team.
Journalists wrote more about why Ronaldo wasn't playing but about Portugal's game and this led to a conflict in the team and ultimately Portugal's premature exit from the competition.
For Ronaldo, his personal records and goals are always the most important for him, and unfortunately he obviously doesn't want to admit that he is too old and that he no longer plays at the top level.

It's not that, he also has a very bulky temper and ego
you must always play for the team and not for yourself, if you pass the ball to a teammate you have more chances to score, the team comes before you
at least so I think

I don't get it. Are you implying that FIFA is adding more international matches to the calendar? Or are you referring to the recent expansion of the FIFA Club World Cup? If you are against more international matches being organized by the FIFA, then I have to disagree with you. International football and club football needs to be given equal importance. What I have seen during the last few years is that clubs are becoming more assertive to the point that they are making open threats to FIFA regarding the release of players for international matches. I don't like the direction where the sport of football is moving.

Both. All these new tournaments from FIFA are rubbish both at the national team level and at the club level. The League of Nations, the Club World Cup is just rubbish and nothing more, but besides being rubbish, it destroys normal tournaments (due to player fatigue).
As for the national team competitions, no matter how anyone tries to change the realities, but in fact club football >> football of national teams, and further the gap will only increase. And I hope that sooner or later everything will come to the NHL model - when everyone does not care about national team games and they are tertiary in relation to real competitions.

They are still leading their group for now even though Croatia could take 1st rank when they win their two games that they are behind, but Armenia can't be underestimated and this could be one of those games where we will again see whether Turkey can get their stuff together and sort out the problems or whether they are once again losing a game that they simply shouldn't lose and seriously, could not lose under any circumstance as this would cost them the qualification. Normally they have a great team consisting of great players with a good technical level. They also bring a lot of emotions into the game and I hope to see them at the European Championship.

One of the results that surprised me yesterday was the defeat of Bosnia and Herzegovina.I was very surprised that the team, which was the heavy favorite against Luxembourg, was not able to score.I think that the team with such a pool of players should be at least in 2nd place in this group after 4 matches.Bosnia and Herzegovina has very good players but they had difficulty in reflecting this on the field.
Portugal, on the other hand, managed to beat their opponent with a single goal.We cannot say that it was an easy match for them, but they still managed to win.In the other match of the group, we can say that it was not a very difficult match for Slovakia, but they could not make the most of the goal positions they found. We can also say that they played a dominant football from the beginning to the end of the match.
I've looked at Luxembourg's game stats and probably yesterday's match was one of the best in recent memory for this national team. But sometimes they have stellar times when they suddenly show a great game. Last year they drew 3-3 against Turkey, which was also unexpected. Before that, they beat Montenegro 2-1.
There is a difference between the squad quality of Luxembourg and Bosnia-Herzegovina, there is also a difference between them and Turkey, but Turkey has a very strange understanding of football, they play well in big games but against smaller teams they can't show this strength, they always lose points when they act like we are going to win anyway, we don't need to make a big deal about it, it makes me think that some players in the team are having an ego battle.
Bosnia-Herzegovina is a team with a higher quality squad and I expected them to at least score against this team in their home game, but sometimes things don't go as expected.

Having these games at this early still doesn't make sense to me. What do we have during July that prevents these games? I mean I get that players needs to go back to their clubs, but some of these players played at their clubs THIS month, which means that they are going to end up with no break at all.

They played late may, early June at their club, then during June they play at national league, and then during July they will have club camp and then start of champions league first stages, and then during august most leagues start and so forth. As you can see nobody had even a month break, I am sorry but in order to prevent more injuries we need to make sure that players end up with some rest so that they will come back stronger in the future.
