It would also be better not to underestimate France guys, let's remember that they have always finished second behind a very strong Argentina in the world championships
something will be worth it, it seems that no one has thought of France
That is right but there also quite a number of issues with France. Still, they might be even the top contender. It was still a good match for the last world runner-up, they constantly improved their attack, but Greece did not play badly, they defended their post well, but it was a well-deserved win for France. It is right to repeat the penalty position because the player who enters early has cleared the ball. The penalty is red card everywhere, whether he sees the man or not. Seeing the man and doing it is like an attempted murder. Mbappe hits hard on the penalty spot, but he's very clear where to hit. He can't shoot surprises like Messi and Ronaldo. What Messi is to Argentina, mbappe is to France. This match is not specific, but in general terms, although he is not the captain, he plays like the captain and carries the team on his back.

This is one of the issues for Turkey indeed. Especially against Latvia they just can't get what they want in an easy way. They always have serious difficulties and they have had many draws against them as well. Turkey have the most ball possession as expected against such teams but from time to time they have serious issues with turning into goals. Turkey actually have really capable players in the front line. They haven't had a big diversity of solid strikers though but especially their midfielders are very impressive.

But it looks like there is still no solid cooperation among these players. It is Kuntz's job to make the players perform like they do normally with their teams in a season.
I don't know what is wrong, but between 2000 and 2008 they had such a strong time and usually I would expect a country like Turkey to be among the teams that would be able to surprise and beat some of the favorites. It's a big country with great players, but as you said the cooperation seems to be the problem that must be solved. Considering for how long they have been failing qualify for the World Cup or getting through the first round at the European Championship, it raises the question why that is. Great individual players, but some of them don't play for Turkey, that is also part of the truth.
Well, they did managed to beat France, Netherlands, Norway, Russia, tied with Croatia. So you can see that they have been doing alright so far with all those big games but then they lost to Faroe Islands, keep that part in mind as well. All in all I am expecting them to get better because they found a good young core that is better than most in this case, and they may do very well, they just need time.

I still think considering they are in Europe and Europe has so many great teams, it's hard for them to crack into that top spot, because usually it's either you gotta be first in the groups, or you play at the playoffs, and every group has at least one great team, and playoffs usually have one or two great teams as well, which makes Turkey fail to qualify as well.

Whether it has to do with the strange understanding of the Turkish team, I don't know, but they haven't been performing well against worse teams. But they are not the only ones who have trouble against weaker teams. Usually when it was a good team against Liechtenstein, Cyprus and so on it could be said that this game will end with a lot of goals against those weaker teams. But they have become stronger in defending and I have often seen over the years that they keep a clean sheet for quite some time during games against stronger opponents. That makes the superior teams nervous and it works. Six or seven goals was normal, but that isn't normal today. The results look quite average even when it is David against Goliath.

I think the problem of Turkey is that foreign players play the main roles in their league.
Domestic players have not learned to lead teams and take responsibility in their clubs and do not have the opportunity to develop as players.
I remember the incredible Turkey at EURO 2008. It was a team that never gave up and fought until the end. Their match in the quarter-finals against Croatia at EURO 2008 is legendary, when they conceded a goal in the penultimate minute and was loosing, but they did not give up and in the last minute they equalized the score and then beat Croatia on penalties.
Today's Turkey no longer has such fanaticism, spirit and quality.

Technically yeah Norway also play matches against opponents at the same level or even below their level. Those matches are great opportunities for Haaland to increase the number of goals he scored by a huge rate. But he really needs to be very consistent about it. Because if he is out-of-form in even such matches it would be really difficult for him to break Ronaldo's goal record.

But when it comes to Mbappe the situation is a little more different. He is playing for one of the strongest national teams in the world, France. They can literally beat everyone as long as they stay solid. Hence I think Mbappe has a higher probability of scoring more goals than Haaland during his national career as well.

I envy Brazil hearing they'll get to sign Carlos Ancellotti before the next world Cup, despite that being special, I still do think there's a level of truth innit.
There is a truth in it according to the recent news about it. Ancelotti is really going to sign for Brazil but not right now. According to the deal Brazil will wait for Ancelotti's last year on his contract with Real Madrid to end. Therefore we can see Ancelotti starting to manage Brazil as of the summer of 2024. This must be already exciting for Brazilians.  Smiley

Because Ancelotti is a wonderful manager whose career is full of titles. He won the Champions League four times in total with Milan and Real Madrid. He is really just the kind of a manager who you would like to see at your team.

Brazil have been a failure in the World Cup for years so he can really be the one to resurrect them.
I wonder who Real would get instead in that case, or if that would even happen. We know that his contract is ending but nobody can guarantee that he will be gone and not come back, we may see him totally be there and sign another contract again. That is why I honestly believe that nothing is inked yet so nothing is certain.

However, if that happens and he ends up getting a contract with Brazil, that leaves Madrid spot open and finding a manager there is a tough thing, it's one of the biggest teams, so finding a manager there requires you to find someone that is world class. Not a lot of them to go around, it will take some time and effort to do something like that and only handful of managers all around the world have the experience to do it.

something will be worth it, it seems that no one has thought of France

At this point, Argentina and Brazil are much stronger than any of the UEFA teams including France and England. If you remember, the final of the FIFA World Cup in 2022 was a one-sided match, with Argentina completely dominating for the first 80 minutes. France fought back during the last 10 minutes and during the extra time. This once again shows that in a direct one-to-one fight, France will be the underdogs. I don't know about 2026, because Messi won't be there in the Argentine squad. Even then I don't think that France will have the upper hand.

Argentina wanted it more in the world cup final but if they played now a regular match for me France would win. They have a better team on paper and are good. They even had a shot at winning the world cup just got unlucky with penalties and that miss in extra time. I dont see Argentina in 2026 even close to the finals let alone winning the title again.

At an increasingly old age, many other players have started to have no faith in Ronaldo and there have been many cases where one of his own team, if in front of the opponent's goal, prefers to shoot directly rather than having to provide feedback to Ronaldo to have a chance to score.
For the Portuguese national team, I admit Ronaldo has been very meritorious and has provided many goals for Portugal.
If it is said who will surpass Ronaldo's achievements in scoring goals, I have two player options, namely Mbappe and also Haaland.

It's not that, he also has a very bulky temper and ego
you must always play for the team and not for yourself, if you pass the ball to a teammate you have more chances to score, the team comes before you
at least so I think
Yes, I know that Ronaldo has a very big temperament and ego. Not infrequently, he often experiences debates and several small disputes with his team-mates.
But actually Ronaldo is a very great player and he even always manages to take advantage of opportunities to score goals, it's just that there have been several incidents where his team-mates have started not to trust Ronaldo to be able to score goals.
But this is also a natural thing because every player wants to have the opportunity to score goals and become a player who can bring his team to victory.

Keep in that Ronaldo not trusted and often fights with his own colleagues even though he is one of the greatest players.

He has again made one of these statements that make him no more popular among his team mates. He is doing it knowing that this doesn't increase the team's aspiration to act and feel like a united group of players. it was again about his ego and how many records he is holding and that he isn't hunting the records, but the records are hunting him. It's ok if thinks that but why should he rub all those words straight into his team mates' faces in public? It helps as long as he makes the goals and wins the games, but it doesn't help when they get into a crisis. They wouldn't be willing to help each other then. But he is who he is and that is never going to chance Smiley

@tiCer personally I feel that Ronaldo should not be recalled for an international match unless it’s his farewell match because there’s not much that he can offer to the team. Furthermore the Portugal coach should move on from the Ronaldo era and start building a team for the future and once again I’ll say that call Ronaldo but only to offer him a farewell nothing more.

Haaland has 24 goals scored in 25 games for the national team. If he maintains such a fantastic scoring he could overtake Ronaldo with even fewer games. Moreover, taking into account the fact that there are more games of national teams and competition in garbage tournaments such as the League of Nations is low, he will have many opportunities.

Haaland without a good midfield is dominating the field and if he was in a much better team he would have scored even more goals. I dont think he can do big things like to win a trophy but can get close to Ronaldo but i dont think he will be able to score more then Ronaldo

Why not? The fact that Norway is weak is compensated by the fact that it has rivals of approximately the same level. For example, let's take the League of Nations - where Norway's rivals are the teams of Sweden, Slovakia and Serbia. These are not super tops and Haaland may well score goals to these teams. Now let's take the qualifying tournament for the European Championship - there Norway has Spain, Scotland, Georgia and Cyprus as rivals. The only unbearable rival is Spain, and for example Cyprus looks like a team where you can seriously improve your statistics.

Your viewpoint on Haaland surpassing Ronaldo has merit, but there's a broader game at play. The footballing arena has evolved, with a cramped calendar due to FIFA and UEFA upping their tournament game. More chances to shine, but it also dials up burnout and injury threats. As for UEFA' Nations League, I have reservations. Given the existing Euro Cup, doesnt this feel like unnecessary garnish on an already frosted cake? This burden of added fixtures may stymie Haaland's progression rather than boost it.

Yes, it's true, but given that Norway will almost certainly miss all the final stages of the World Cup, the European Championship and the League of Nations for Haaland, the calendar will not be as busy as, for example, players from Spain, Germany and other European tops.

If it is said who will surpass Ronaldo's achievements in scoring goals, I have two player options, namely Mbappe and also Haaland.

Mbappe? Maybe. But Håland? I am not sure. His drawback is that he plays for a team that almost never qualifies for major tournaments. So obviously the number of matches get reduced. In case of Mbappe, he plays for a very talented team and the position in the starting XI is not always guaranteed in the long term future. Ronaldo had everything going for him. He played for a comparatively strong team, and he was guaranteed of a position in the XI. And the bets part is that he may continue playing for Portugal for a couple of years more.

Haaland has 24 goals scored in 25 games for the national team. If he maintains such a fantastic scoring he could overtake Ronaldo with even fewer games. I think these added fixtures can make Haaland progress further more than stop him or make him go down in performance, that because in theory the games of UEFA Nations League are easier than the Euro qualifiers and some teams do not bother much with these games and use these as testing grounds for the important competitions like EURO and World Cup,as such Haaland will have more possibilities to progress his career with the national team in a better level.Of course he cannot keep all the pressure in his shoulders for a team like Norway but he can of course become (in fact he already is in my opinion) the best player in which Norway to rely to move further and achieve something good out of this national team.

I agree that the quality of play has gone down for the League of Nations, because the players and management doesn't take it seriously. I can't blame the players also. The calendar is getting too packed nowadays. FIFA has added more tournaments, the clubs want the players to play more matches to them and finally the UEFA also want a share of the pie. The players are getting squeezed without adequate rest. I doesn't really understand the purpose of having the UEFA Nations League, when there is the Euro Cup. If it was played in super-cup format, then it would have been still OK. But the round-robin format is being used now, which increases the number of matches.
