Honestly, I am not familiar with the participating teams in this tournament but even so, there are some teams that I sometimes choose in random bets. But still, with the lack of familiarity for the teams in this tournament, it makes me have to check more about which country the team is from. This is the first season which I think will still lack fans, because this tournament is also rarely exposed to the media and to be honest I also only just found out about this tournament with this thread.
I think this is very reasonable, because the competition is still very new and of course there will be very few football fans who know the format and also the teams competing in the competition now, maybe if the competition goes well enough in the first season, I am very sure if the conference league in the future will be able to become one of the competitions that is quite prestigious in my opinion, as is the case with the champions and european leagues which have become a competition that has indeed become very global and has also become the target of clubs and football players to be able to play in these competitions.

So, imagine for those who are from outside Europe, despite enjoying and following European football closely, I don't know any of the teams you listed.
I was seriously thinking about doing some research and some betting just so I wouldn't miss the opportunity, but it's hard to gamble with luck alone.
Yeah, I can imagine that. Probably it would be same if I'd try to bet on Asia Champion league qualifiers Cheesy.

idk my dude...i doubt anyone here (or anywhere) knows those teams even existed. I can imagine the players of those semi-professional teams on their way to their regular job sometimes asking to themselves "what was the name of the club i play for again?" lol

Unless you're familiar with any those teams, i would skip those games. You're taking a huge risk by going in completely blind, unless, you're betting pocket money and feel generous enough to give some to the bookmakers

you might find some value in Maribor - Urartu. I remember seeing Maribor in the CL a few times, surely they can take care of Urartu just fine
Personally, I'm familiar with some of these teams. Clubs from my country play in these early qualifying rounds, they never reach group stage. I follow such qualifying games for more than 10 years, so I have some clue about. Though, it doesn't always bring luck in betting.
And yeah, it's true that part of these teams aren't even professional, especially from countries like Gibraltar, Andora, San Marino or Faore Islands, but sometimes they manage to beat fully pro teams and reach 2nd round.

So we had THIRTY games last night, and I stupidly bet on some that I've been familiar with (and may have mentioned earlier are the ones I'm looking at). They've brought me some small joy in their domestic leagues but I guess here is where they see just how far they've come in a new competition against champions from other similar leagues (in terms of coefficients).

My picks from yesterday and their results:
Batumi (won 4-0)
Ararat (drew 1-1)
Slask Wroclaw (won 2-1)
Noah (won 1-0)

I love them Caucascus teams =p

That's why it is relevant to create that thread Wink
Since it is the first edition with pretty much new teams for us, we never heard about it and we have no idea how good/miserable they are then it is normal to have suspicion about how relevant this competition will be. In the next years and I would say even at a later stage, they will be much attraction to its games.

@snipe indeed this thread will be really helpful when the tournament begins, because I’m sure someone will be updating odds and post their predictions here. Furthermore I believe that Tottenham will have an excellent chance of winning it, and if they don’t win it then maybe they’ll need a new coach again.

I examined the teams in the big leagues in Europe which have qualified for the ECL. I saw that there were teams like Tottenham, Roma and Feyenoord. Maybe not Feyenoord but I think Tottenham and Roma are one of the favourites for the title surely.

And here there's another useless competition where we can lose our hard earned money via betting! Grin
Of course, I'm in!
Fehervar-Ararat Over 2,5 goals
Inter Turku-Puskas Akademia Over 2,5 goals
Birkirkara-La Fiorita Over 2,5 goals
Siroki Brijeg-Vllaznia Over 2,5 goals
Sant Julià-Gzira United Over 2,5 goals

These are my picks with absolutely no clue of what I'm betting on, never heard of these teams before. Therefore I might be very correct and win the bet! Trust me!  Grin

These are all low quality teams so there should be lots of goals between all of these teams. But still its the first game of the season so i dont know if they will all go into over but it can happen easily

So, today we have 30 1st round qualifying games, so, enough opportunities to make bet. Though, even for me who follow early qualifying rounds of UEFA tournaments, some names of teams are never heard before.

I was seriously thinking about doing some research and some betting just so I wouldn't miss the opportunity, but it's hard to gamble with luck alone.

I think the best strategy is to monitor the teams' performance in the next games and place bets towards the end of the championship or simply not betting here.

Liepaja - Struga - home win @1.70
Riga FC  - Klaksvik - home win @1.75 (big value bet IMHO, though Klaklsvik known for good defense)
Suduva - Valmiera - under 2.5 @1.72
Zilina - Dila Gori - over 2.5 @1.60
Europa - Zalgiris Kaunas - away win @1.77 (big value bet)
Tre Penne - Dinamo Batumi - no BTTS @1.57
Maribor - Urartu - over 2.5 @1.55
Quite many bets, but I prefer multiple small bets on such game than few bigger ones. And don't risk to put much money on teams which aren't known at all for me.

You're welcome:) I was asked to, and well, maybe we get a unique breed of supporters in here from countries not normally in Champs League? I know if my country were in a popular thread I'd be even more active! Where are you from?

I had no idea we wouldn't be seeing Greece or Switzerland in Europa, which sounds strange but absolutely right now I check the qualification routes! Imagine Basel and Young Boys out of Europa? Panathinaikos, wow. But prize money wise, it's almost the same and these "big" teams might feel they have a better chance to win in Conference? Maybe they don't argue as much.
I'm from Lithuania and clubs from my country never played in group stage of Champions or Europa league. Though, if Conference league would had started few years earlier, we would had club in group stage 3 years in a row.
Qualifying round will begin next week and our clubs got quite good opponents which we can beat - clubs from Gibraltar and Latvia and one club got automatically promoted to next round (no idea why). If they will pass 1st round, they earn some money and ranking points for our league.
By the way, does anyone remember another UEFA tournament - Intertoto Cup? It was tournament with strange format and didn't gained much interest.

@buwaytress it would be nice if you regularly post detailed updates about the team you plan to wager on, cause I barely know teams in this league and not many here look like they’ll be wagering in this league. Also about the money part what if the fans give it a miss, then won’t UEFA have to reconsider the status of this league or the league has enough cash to run despite the poor response from the fans.

I actually already do have my own daily thread on my picks but I'm just a value gambler, and with Sunday gambler sized bets =) I can't pretend to be an expert but I do like backing the underdog.

But sure, I'll remember to check back in here to put my picks. I bet on Inter Club d'Escaldes on both the Prelims, won the first one around 8/1 but lost last night.

The league has almost equal cash to Europa in terms of prize money. It's going to be big for those who never get the chance to watch their teams in Europe. I think this might just have its own appeal.

Thank you cygan for the update of teams, I'll add it into OP for that, and what's strange for me in fact is that I actually recognise at least 1 name from each group;) Maybe Europa League has crept into my mind, or betting on those games that played on during Covid lockdown!

My personal picks: Batumi (Georgia), Wroclaw (Poland), Yereven (Armenia) -- all have been very good to me in betting haha:)

@buwaytress, thanks for making this thread, I was looking for it Wink.
Personally, I don't like idea of this tournament. I call it Europa League for peasants. Yes, this tournament gives chances for clubs from small league to play in Europe. Even teams from my country have fairly good chances to reach group stage. But on the other hand, this tournament had closed doors to Europa League for many clubs and leagues. As said above by @mv1986, good teams from Greece, cyprus or Switzerland now are separated from elite.
There is some big clubs like Spurs or Roma who will have to play there. It's interesting what attitude towards this tournament they will have. I doubt that their are going to play with main squads there.
Conference League games will be played on Thursdays, same as Europa league. I doubt that many neutral fans is going to watch it, unless you're supporter of team which play there.

Thanks for the update this should be a tournament of its own kind. Hope to see the emergence of a concept.

How about having newer concepts in the soccer industry other than the regular routine we have always experienced from time memorial. Something very different from the knockout stage it could be similar but with newer concepts and features so as to keep the fans in suspects each time the watch their teams play.

"The main issue is that all teams from the leagues ranked below 15th in the UEFA coefficient (based on five-year performance in Europe) are now locked out of the Europa League.

Teams from Cyprus, Switzerland and Greece just miss out and will have no route into the Europa League (other than dropping into it from Champions League qualifying).

The competition has received a lukewarm reception from leagues that regularly have teams who reach the Europa League group stage, who now feel they are being blocked from competing even at the second level of European football."

Quoted from ESPN. So if I understand correctly, there is a good number of teams that is not quite that much amused by this, right? Does this mean the number of qualifying ranks for the European League is simply removed for some countries? I don't get quit it.

What happens to teams like Villareal or Benfica or Lazio?

@mv1986 if what you’re saying is true then this ranking system is a disaster, and it’s only a matter of time before the fans realise this and protest against it. Furthermore I wouldn’t be surprised if UEFA changes thr rankings system after fans start protesting against it, but till then we will have to wait and see how it goes from here.

Then we can only hope that those fans demonstrating come from Manchester United. Do you remember how crazy they want before the game against Liverpool? Afterwards Manchester United did indeed put their plans on ice to participate in the Super League.

There is teams which will protest for sure while others will profit from the actual system in order to win something one day.

What happens to teams like Villareal or Benfica or Lazio?
Check Wikipedia page or this one (french but contains a good list) for more idea about the teams.
Spurs, Union, Roma, Rennes are in EConf but at a later stage.
