Bayer Leverkusen put one foot in the Europa League final as Florian Wirtz and Robert Andrich scored in 2-0 semi-final first-leg win over Roma at the Stadio Olimpico. Bayer Leverkusen side got an advantage in the first leg of the round at away. The second leg will be held at BayArena next Thursday. Leverkusen's unbeaten run for 2023-24 stands at 47 games across all competitions (39 wins, eight draws).

Because Liverpool failure certainly makes Bayer Leverkusen doesn't seem to have strong competitors in the race for the Europa League trophy this time, because even though the teams in the semifinals are also quite good. But still, the reality is that Bayer Leverkusen at this moment is really at a different level, so it is difficult to stop Bayer Leverkusen's streak of good results at this moment. After all, even though AS Roma has also succeeded in improving its performance and quality since the appointment of De Rossi as AS Roma head coach, but the reality is that AS Roma still failed in the first leg even though AS Roma played at home. With factors like that, I personally am really confident and will not doubt the good chance that Bayer Leverkusen has this season to win lots of trophies.
Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen were the two favorites in the Europa League this season. Basically, considering the performance of these two teams in the current season, they were considered as the two most favorite teams in the European League. We think that these two teams will qualify for the finals of the Europa League tournament this season and the competition will be very tough between these two teams. Bayer Leverkusen are still in the race to reach the final of the Europa League tournament but Liverpool have already been eliminated from the tournament after losing the final battle of the Europa League tournament. You think it will be difficult for Bayer Leverkusen to win the Europa League title this season but I don't think it will be difficult for them to win the Europa League title this season. Wait and see surely Bayer Leverkusen will be champions this season.

Previously, Liverpool was the favorite team apart from Leverkusen in the race for the Europa League title this season and the two were considered as team that would meet in the final, but in reality Liverpool was eliminated by Atalanta in the quarter-finals.
Liverpool failure has made Leverkusen team that can really avoid the pressure that Liverpool can put on them because they are not weak team, now we will see how Leverkusen can easily win the title.
In the semi-final first leg match Leverkusen managed to save 2 points on aggregate over AS Roma and in the second leg match Leverkusen just needed to play more carefully and maintain the advantage they had.
Leverkusen clearly has big opportunity to advance to the final and whoever the opponent is, I very confident that Leverkusen will be able to finish with win.

With the squad he currently has he can show an extraordinary game and next season he can bring in new ammunition to complement the squad he has now. Next season they will be in the Champions League, the competition will be more difficult there and he has to prove that he can compete.
Even if the current squad looks strong enough for the next season, I think Xabi must improve the quality of the squad. I think Leverkusen has no top striker, most of them are just average strikers. Only Victor Boniface who deserves to be the striker in Leverkusen. Sadly, this player got a long injury this season, Xabi must have an alternative striker who has the same quality. Patrik Schick and Borja Iglesias have too far quality, they don't deserve to keep on the squad. If Leverkusen wants to go far in UCL for the next season, Leverkusen is better to sign a top striker in the next transfer window.
Improvement is always a must to face a competition, regardless they have proven to be the the best. Xabi Alonso has to be aware of the best team being on everyone's eyes. Next season, Every team will see Leverkusen as a team to beat with the best efforts, this will make the next season campaign for next season harder than this season.

The fact that they will play in Champions League is a big consideration to strengthen to squad. They will be lucky if no player to have a move to other club, but they will still need to sign some new good players for next season campaign. Playing in champions League is not as easy as playing in Europa League, they will have to play against many strong teams. Any loss can affect their morale that could have impact on their performances in the league.

In fact, the challenge for Xabi Alonso is next season, because maintaining his performance will be more difficult to do, and if he fails to maintain Leverkusen's performance this season, then he will be considered a coach who just had great luck this season by being able to bring Leverkusen to the championship. and they even have the chance to win the treble.
Yes, it is always a big challenge to maintain good performance. Leverkusen performed too perfectly this season, they may end up this season with no defeat at all. As far as I know, there is no modern coach who can do this. Xabi Alonso simply did an extra ordinary job for Leverkusen, no one predicts this to happen with Leverkusen.

Well, treble winners looks very possible for Leverkusen if they can maintain their performance until the end of the season.

With the squad he currently has he can show an extraordinary game and next season he can bring in new ammunition to complement the squad he has now. Next season they will be in the Champions League, the competition will be more difficult there and he has to prove that he can compete.

I'm actually not a Leverkusen supporter but in yesterday's bet I chose Leverkusen, well Leverkusen's winning statistics have been very high since the start of the season so it would be a mistake not to choose Leverkusen from the start vs Roma, in the 2nd leg later when I will choose Leverkusen too, their chances of winning Becoming European League champion is very wide open.
Leverkusens statistical record this season has been filled with much of an impressive performance such that they are seen to be one of the most successful team this season across Europe and they have so far been able to maintain a certain kind of standard this season such that you know that they can't just do any less at this point in time with such a team and so if you are gambling it will be doing yourself less good to think they will lose.

I'm not trying to put out the place of anything. Even able to happen in football but then I aswell want to bring the fact that the team who's contending Leverkusen in question hasn't been upto expectations both in their domestic league a d here in the Europa, somehow I feel they were able to manage to pull through to this point of the Europa not because they have been able to really get excellent performance but they seem to have been lucky with their fixtures in these games because most of the team they have had to fave were not such teams that will be considered tough.

Leverkusen having the chances of been crowned the winners of the Europa league this season is something that almost everyone is already getting to come in terms with already because their performance daily keeps giving them the edge and proving how capable and effective a team they are and can be able to probably get to win the trophy without much challenge at this point where they have just average teams contending them.

He has to prove it next season, so I think this is the right decision for him to stay with Leverkusen next season. Next season they will be in the Champions League, the competition will be more difficult there and he has to prove that he can compete.
Regardless of what happens next season the most important thing for now is that they have to do their best because the treble chance is there so next season is on their minds after they get a good target for this season.

Indeed, it becomes a problem when Leverkusen this season reached a new level and gave an extraordinary surprise then maintaining it will obviously be very difficult because apart from the pressure they face later, this could also affect the performance where there could be a lot that does not match expectations because this season they exceeded expectations too much.
But on the other hand it can be thought of later in my opinion because after all for now their chance to get a treble winner which is definitely very difficult for them to get back is in sight so they only need to focus on this season's competition.

Initially I thought Leverkusen would lose to AS Roma. Their performance in the last 2 matches is not that good. They managed to "survive" the defeat because they scored a goal in the last minute of the match. I think it requires a winning mentality and of course luck to get it. AS Roma are at the same level as Dortmund and Stuttgart so I think Leverkusen will have a tough game.

But it turns out they performed quite well in that match. They managed to win 2-0 and that was a very good first step because they will play at home in the second leg later.
I never expect Roma to beat Leverkusen because I know that this season, Leverkusen is far better than Roma since from the beginning of the season.

Leverkusen’s performance in their last two league games before their match should not be used to determine their performance on that match because they intentionally played like that in the league just to rest players for the Europa League since they have already secured the Bundesliga title.

Quote
On the other hand, Marseille drew against Atalanta. Both teams played evenly so it was difficult to determine who had the advantage in the second leg.
Their first leg match was played very well, the match performance was equal because both the teams played well in the first leg. The second leg will be a battle because Atalanta will try to make it while Marseille will also wants to win to see if they can win the Europa League.

We might not have thought that Leverkusen was still unbeaten, in fact they continued to extend their record when they played in the semi-finals away to Roma. De Rossi still doesn't seem capable enough to stop Xabi Alonso in this competition and as we can see there was no difficulty at all for Leverkusen to steal the lead in the first leg.

It all started with a blunder made by a Roma defender and at that moment Florian Wirtz gave Leverkusen the lead. However, this is important capital ahead of the second leg, so it is certain that Leverkusen's chances will be greater when they play at home and Roma can only hope for a miracle if they are still thinking about getting to the final round.
There is nothing any team can do about winning this league again, the only team that has always been favourite for this tittle is Leverkusen, they have been superb since the beginning of the Europa league started till date, they haven't shown any sign of weakness, and no team have defeated them. This is something I really love about them, and I'm looking forward to seeing them win the Europa league, which will mark their winning of the trebble they've always dreamt of.An elimination of Roma made them more favourite for the tittle, and I must congratulate them in advance.

So, for example, Leverkusen will qualify for the final and succeed in overthrowing Roma in the second leg, who is one of the teams worthy of facing Leverkusen in the final? the only choices are Atalanta and Marseille, even though they are both in different leagues.

But if Leverkusen meets Atalanta in the final then they will already know what they have to do against Roma. However, on the other hand, if you play against Marseille in the final, it will be an ordinary match and from the start, as we know, this title will completely belong to Leverkusen at the end of the season.

To be honest, Bayern Leverkusen’s performance this season is not based on luck, they really fought hard to be this victorious, hence their accolades should be given to them. A team cannot win the league title on luck like this, luck cannot shine for you throughout the season, they really worth what they’ve achieved so far in the league. As for their champions league competition next season, they just have to put in a better performance than this year’s own because the competition their is very competitive and more demanding than Bundesliga. They have gotten a good squad they just need some addition to make the team stronger for next season and I trust Xabi Alonso to give a good result also by next season.

I think you have got a point here, never easy, but who knows

At this point, I think De Rossi should just use this match in learning some things as this will help him in next season. This Roma side should focus more on being able to appear in Europe next season rather than them being able to beat down Leverkusen. Yes this is pretty impossible as I already see Leverkusen in the finals of the UEL or should I say I see them as winners already.

Yes, that's right, after this As Roma should focus on finishing in the top four of the domestic league because Bologna is not playing consistently and will face many strong teams. Of course, As Roma has the opportunity to overtake them to finish in the top four. It seems difficult to beat Leverkusen in the second leg. De Rossi has to acknowledge Xabi Alonso's expertise, where he is smarter in arranging strategy and tactics so that his team can face their opponents. As Roma seems to be having difficulty winning by more than two goals.

Leverkusen are good at drawing, of course they need a draw, which is more than enough to qualify for the UEL final against Atalanta or Marseille, but it looks like they will face another Italian team in the UCL final, namely Atalanta, if Leverkusen manages to get rid of As Roma in the semi-final second leg. In the final, Xabi Alonso is not the type of coach who has mercy on his opponents and he never underestimates his opponents, whether it is a top team or a bottom team, for him it is the same. Xabi Alonso seems to be more serious about pressing his team to win again against As Roma in the second leg.

It seems that you are not aware of Serie A getting 5 tickets for the Champions League next season, so even though AS Roma finished in fifth place but in fact AS Roma has secured a ticket for the Champions League for next season and not the Europa League. Therefore, basically AS Roma can focus more on beating Bayer Leverkusen at this moment because AS Roma has been in a safe and good position in the Serie A standings. But despite this, the fact is that AS Roma still failed to provide difficult resistance to Bayer Leverkusen and thus, AS Roma will fall in the semi-final phase of the Europa League this season and AS Roma will play in the Champion League next season because Serie A gets 5 tickets this season.

It all depends on what Roma chooses: to concentrate on maintaining 5th place in Serie A (which gives a ticket to the Champions League) or to go all-in in the return game. I already wrote in another thread that in my opinion, if Roma chooses the second option and plays an open game, Bayer will tear them apart 4-1 or something like that. But if Roma accepts elimination from the Europa League, then they will not leave Leverkusen without conceding goals either, so the total over looks like a good choice.

A few days ago I also thought that Roma could qualify for the final, although Leverkusen are in great form and are unbeaten so far. But I don't think so at the moment. Roma will not qualify for the Europa League final. They should now give up Europa League hopes.

Roma played very badly in the home match of the first leg. Although the match was Roma's home match, we saw the dominance of Leverkusen's players throughout the match. Roma had only 8 shots in the entire match. On the other hand, the Leverkusen players made a total of 19 shots. And as expected the Leverkusen team won 2-0. I don't see a chance of Roma making a comeback in the second leg away match after losing 2-0 at home. I predict that Leverkusen will win the second leg as well.

Roma’s problem is that after the game with Bayer, they immediately have an away game with Atalanta in 2 days, where they definitely need to win. If they waste their energy in the game with Bayer, they will most likely lose to Atalanta and thus lose the battle for 5th place. Atalanta will also be exhausted after the game with Marseille, but for them it will be 2 home games, and for Roma 2 away games.
If I were DeRossi, I would go to Leverkusen with the second squad.

What I see is that the Roma players don't have as much energy as the Bayer Leverkusen players have. They seemed to think this match would be theirs because they were playing at home but what happened on the field was different from what they imagined, it turned out that Bayer Leverkusen played very well and it seemed as if they didn't have the fatigue to chase the ball throughout the match. After those 2 goals, it was quite clear that the Roma players felt very frustrated and they were confused about what to do. Though they had some good chances but they couldn't make it a goal.
Roma defeat at home certainly surprised us, even though Roma is not the favorite team compared to Leverkusen, their failure to score just one goal is a sign that they don't have a strong mentality when facing a stronger team, Roma of course has the advantage of playing at home, but unfortunately they don't able to do it well so you can be sure they will have to work hard in the second leg later, I think for now Roma chance of beating Leverkusen is of course very difficult because they have to look for 3 goals without conceding and obviously that is something that is difficult to get when facing a team as strong as leverkusen.

I think maybe Roma will have a slight advantage if in the first leg they can score at least 1 goal to reduce their deficit, so that way Roma certainly won't have much of a burden to face in the second leg because they only need at least 1 goal to force leverkusen played until extra time, but with a 2-0 aggregate defeat of course Roma's chances of advancing to the final round of the European League this season were destroyed.

I also think of that, but with a 50% belief because I know that their unbeaten performance will hardly be cut off by Roma. I was either expecting them to go on a draw or a win for Leverkusen, which ended up as a win for Leverkusen, but no doubt Roma also played their best in the game because they really tried because they also made an attempt. But all I am putting into consideration now is that Leverkusen should just wait for a few weeks to hold their trophy because they cannot be stopped by any of the teams left again.

Furthermore, maybe you have become their fan without your knowledge, because even if you are fain, that is the least feeling that you might encounter, so you should know how to manage your emotions, especially on football.
Roma losing doesn't mean they played badly because while on the field I was quite satisfied with what Roma showed even though they didn't win. Because against Leverkusen you need brilliant tactics, for now Roma still can't prove it, but in the future De Rossi will learn a lot and continue to develop his skills in training players. Leverkusen unbeaten continues and who knows how long their dominance will last and also which club will be able to beat Xabi strategy on the field. Now what makes everyone curious is just who managed to bring Leverkusen to its knees. We need to be a little patient, maybe the UCL is the right time to see Leverkusen dominance stop.
AS Roma's performance is good, but not so good when compared to Bayer Leverkusen, which so far no club has been able to beat them in any competition, even though I initially thought AS Roma would be able to do it in their first meeting at the UEL this time but it turns out AS Roma still couldn't stop them. Bayer Leverkusen, even though their head to head showed that AS Roma dominated the victory over Bayer Leverkusen, but perhaps because of Alonso's hard work who provided an extraordinary strategy, AS Roma could not read the strategy used by the Bayer players.

I don't know how long Bayer Leverkusen will suffer their first defeat this season, even in the Bundesliga. Bayer Leverkusen still hasn't given up losing even though they have won the Bundesliga, so I think as long as they still have strong stamina they will continue to perform optimally and be unbeatable, other clubs have to admit the greatness of Bayer Leverkusen and acknowledged the greatness of its coach.
Leverkusen's in the zone. We've seen some great teams over the years, but their run this Europa League season is the best. Alonso's tactics, they're a cut above. He's got Leverkusen playing smart, calculated football - the kind that breaks down even experienced teams like Roma. Its clear Roma didnt see that intensity coming, that focus on every single play. Leverkusen's undefeated even after winning the Bundesliga? Thats not just luck. Thats the kind of hunger and consistency that makes a team truly great. It shows the rest of Europe: its a new standard of performance Leverkusen's bringing to the field every single match. Other teams better watch their backs because if Leverkusen keeps this up, they're looking at a very long run of wins.

indeed Roma experienced a fairly good increase in performance after de Rossi coaching, but the defeat from Leverkusen seemed to indicate if indeed the quality of the game and also the coach's strategy became things that deserved to be improved by De Rossi in the second leg later, Roma was able to keep pace with the Leverkusen game in the match but the mentality and also the strategy applied by Alonso to the leverkusen game in the match was certainly one of the differentiators that made Leverkusen able to excel in the game. That match, I think for now De Rossi must be able to improve the strategy and also the quality of Roma's game to face Leverkusen in the second leg.

I think for now Leverkusen are closer to reaching the final, although Roma can bounce back in the second leg but it looks like it will be difficult for them to beat Leverkusen 3-0 on Aggregate at Leverkusen home , Roma chance is of course still there if indeed Roma can improve their game in the second leg, but to be honest,  I am a little Pessimistic if Roma can score at Leverkusen home   later, let alone beat Leverkusen, of course for now it is a little impossible to do.

I don’t think Roma stands any chance at all of qualifying past Leverkusen especially after the wonderful display of the German side in the first leg, you’ll understand how pretty impossible it is for them to turn things around. Yes football could be unpredictable but in this case, lol it is really predictable as Leverkusen are really on fire this season.

Leverkusen lead with a 2 goal margin and for Roma to turn things around at Leverkusen ground, then they’ll need to be more resilient than normal. They will have to up their game and this is something I feel will be pretty impossible for them to do especially against A team with great coach like Alonso. Yes football is unpredictable but I know Roma can also hope that they will be able to turn things Around but the possibility is pretty little.
