Adesanya- Pereira going to be a wild one  Shocked
Both fighter's will ensure a great fight as they are both very skilled fighters. They both have different reasons for fighting, Israel will be fighting not to loose again to Pereira who remains the only fighter to have knocked him out, and Pereira will be fighting to ensure he wins again. Israel has more experience in the MMA than Pereira, maybe that will count, But Pereira is who I see will win.

It was a good enough fight, although not that entertaining. It was very obvious how Adesanya was not taking too much risk. That's understandable because he is facing against somebody he knows very well, somebody who already defeated him not just once but twice. And that was perhaps the reason why Pereira defeated him once again, the third time around. Pereira must have a big psychological effect on Adesanya. Adesanya could hardly get aggressive.

I'd say Poirier vs Chandler was the more entertaining match, although both matches had a great ending.

Adesanya knows how hard Pereira's punches are he talks about it when Strickland fought Pereira, he is fully aware so he never takes a chance and he can't do what he always does, Adesanya fought fighters with hard punches in the past but the fear of going down again by Pereira's punches haunts him, he should have fought Pereira in the floor in the 5th round by taking him down because it will take the gas out of Pereira but he chooses to face him standing and do counter punch but it backfire, I still want to see a rematch I hope Izzy is ok now and find his way up again, he still has it.

I still believe Adesanya still has it. He can still dominate other talented fighters out there. This is a different fight he had just against Pereira. He probably didn't have 100% confidence against the man. He obviously was too cautious. He knew Pereira very well. He knew he was already defeated twice. He knew Pereira's power because he was already a victim of it. Not only was Pereira's punches hard-hitting, they were also accurate.

But despite this, it was Pereira who was actually saved by the bell right in the opening round. The scorecards were all in favor of Adesanya. I think it was in the third round when Adesanya took down Pereira to the ground even if he was already raining punches on him. I guess he could actually have finished him right there and then hadn't he decided to be cautious and go for the take down.

But unfortunately, it did not go that way, but I adore Adesanya for admitting his lost, and very sportsman in how he conducts himself after the defeat, he makes a bow to the crowd, and in the post-fight conference he thanks everyone at his team on his great venture as a champion, this is not the end for Adesanya, he is still young and can beat any fighter in the middleweight, I'm sure the UFC management would want to do this again, maybe they will let Alex defend it first against a worthy opponent and Izzy fights a top-ranked fighter, before they do a rematch.

@Welsh & @Inwestour
I will agree with you both on all your very valid points on this challenge to Israel for this upcoming title defense.
As you both have probably already viewed the press conference last night you would probably have seen Pereira's mindset and know he is a very careful person in what he says and what he does.
But one thing is for certain, this fight will not go past the 4th round.
Both fighters want to end it as early as possible and if you had watched Alex's past fights since entering into the UFC you will notice he goes all out to knock out his opponent and not just running around and feinting around the ring like Adesanya does in his fighting style.
That will be my next bet for the fight not going the distance because the under 4.5 rounds are the exact same odds.

I don't think Alex has the same type of speed in his legs to keep up, and keep putting the pressure on once Izzy decides to get on out of there. I guess time will tell, but I just don't think he has. If it wasn't for that, and the fact I think Izzy could potentially do a few takedowns if he gets into trouble, I'd go for Alex. Basically, for Alex to win, I think he needs to knock Izzy out in basically one, or at the very least hurt him enough that he hits the ground still dazed.

I just don't know what the odds would be to catch someone like Izzy who is so far out of reach, and always looking to bounce if the heat gets turned up. I'll be going for a Izzy decision more than likely.
They are long time rivals in kickboxing, they fought twice and Pereira won both times, and he won the rematch by knockout. But that was a long time ago and this story was successfully used for the hype around this fight. Becouse of these victories, the odds at the fighters are pretty even, but Israel in the cage has significantly more experience and he will be waiting for his chance to catch Pereira.

Pereira says Israel doesn't want to fight him, but he has to because he's a champion and has to defend his belt. But I will say, that if it were not this story with Pereira's victories in kickboxing, then Pereira could not have reached the title fight for a long time.

Put in my rather big bet last night so here it is:

Over $180 is a good amount but I was going to go with Will it go the distance bet at 2.09x and with the boost would of go it to over 2.30x I went with my selection from the previous thread I have backed the contender to the title since the fight was announced well over 7 months ago.

Respectable bet, and I think they'll definitely be chances there for Alex. The only reason that's stopping me from betting on Alex is, Izzy is a master of escape at this point. He's always on his toes, and we basically never seen him in trouble, at least for a while. So, he's going to be looking to score points, and basically use his length, and stance to quickly escape if the heat gets turned up by Alex, at least that's what I think will happen.

Pereira a bit up in odds from 2.5 to 2.7. Going to try a parlay with Pereira @2.7 + Poirier @1.44 so lets see how that turns out.

You are right slaman29 they are going on right now so the major states are busy with this going on especially New York.
So a big fight event into that city during the elections will be hard to compare with but I think UFC 281 will trump it!

UFC Vegas 64 weigh-ins just finished (they won't even have a ceremonial one as it is not enough hype on these fights to garner one) and there were a record tying 4 missed weights for fighters.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYd5uzv-jio
Seems the fighters on this card are not even interested in fighting. Shameful really. They get their purses cut for the miss weigh.

I haven't been following these fights for a long time, I don't know much about things over there but I would say the US elections now seems to be taking some of the attention away from UFC because I don't get why fighters would not take money by missing weights? Or do they believe the advantage is theirs if they keep the weight on to try and win? Seems weird to me, maybe it's Covid fats like most of us lol

Kattar losing was what seems to be happening alot in these main events this year,
It ended with him no being able to finish the fight due to a leg injury to his knee and not being able to put any weight on it.

I didn't want to see it end this way as I thought he had a shot to win. Both fighters were pretty much tied in all attributes.

Very sad to see it end like that.

The biggest surprise winner was Sean O'Malley because Petr Yan was defensively the better fighter and with all the takedowns he had it was a tough decision to see who had the advantage on the score cards.

The clear cut win by Makhachev was not in doubt with the knock down and then smuthering Oliveira to do the choke hold was the outcome everybody thought was going to happen as the odds had shown being 1.51x prematch.

Khamzat Chimaev showed up to see the fights and caused an altercation after Makhachev won in the crowd.

It looks to have been sorted out but he wants a title shot against him.

Sigh, yeah, I did get a nice 3/1+ upset win in the last round, and then was already halfway there with O'Malley shouldn't have tried to become too smart with that acca. Oliveira down quickly, couldn't get his sub attempt, couldn't land as many blows, completely subdued all over the place, according to stats. Makhachev didn't feel like lingering around too long, did he now?h

Decent fight between Yan and O’Malley. They each got some good shots in. At the end of the day thought O’Malley won in a split decision. I sort of thought one of them would be knocked out but O’Malley was too long and Yan didn’t buckle. The fight will make for some good highlights. Now the Suga Show continues and he might get a shot at a title fight.

What a card we got on our hands this weekend.
Trying a few bucks on Oliveira even though he is down from 2.8 to ~2.4 in odds.
O'Malley @3.25 (down from @4) gets some hard earned pocket change as well

Haha man, just reading about putting hard-earned pocket change really, really struck a chord with me. Sometimes I'd get an unexpected income from some client chasing hard for months (once even years) and then I dump it on some ill-advised bets. Then after losing I look back on all the hard work doing it and chasing it and ask myself why haha.

Inspired me for an Olievera/Malley acca even thought the odds have gone =(

But still, 9.18 not bad: https://sportsbet.io/sharebetslip/550d2566-8257-4fa5-a85c-89fe3bfe08c2

UFC has arrived and it is one for the ages this weekend in Abu Dhabi! So know it will be early in the afternoon.

The main card looks like this:
Charles Oliveira vs Islam Makhachev
Alijamain Sterling vs T.J Dillashaw
Petr Yan vs Sean The Sugar Show O'Malley
The winner of the Sugar show bout will have a title show lined up for them for their next match:

All these fights look to be bangers so don't expect any of them to end early.

Interesting bit of information known before the main card fight ahead of UFC 280 this weekend.
Charles Oliveira was fighting legally blind for the previous fights he had disclosed having laser eye surgery recently to correct his vision. He has worn glasses for his past interviews during the other main events.
So he was doing that good while not really seeing his opponents in the octagon?

Oliveira mentioned in the interview that he was seeing three images infront of him so he chose the middle one to hit.

Grasso won and the result was by decision so Welsh's selection on the main event was correct.
Nice payout if you did take it @2.20x
I took the straight win which was way too low to take because it could of swung either way going the distance.

Overall a good UFC fight night in Vegas.

Can't wait for UFC 280 next weekend with the a fully stacked card already getting people excited to see those fights.
