Since there is nothing until the next event in a couple of weeks. So might as well enjoy these high energy bouts which were ones to remember.

Thanks buwaytress & Igehhh for the congratulations on a high odds betslip hitting for me in the UFC.
But Derrick Lewis was the likely pick for the main card with his title of Knockout King it was hard not to select him to K.O Daukaus.
Here is the fight for those who missed it and the post interview was interesting because the mentioning about NFT and cashing in on it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7t17Mo6b_s
Starts around the 8 minute mark if you had already seen the fight. The post match interview can be viewed directly on UFC's youtube channel:

He has had some funny interviews in the past and they get pretty rauchy:

@igehhh what're the odds on Ngannuo? I should look him up and place a bet or two if they're poor odds but I'm sold by your confidence!
The odds for the event are equal for both candidates
1.85 odds for both fighters- this is the first time I'm seeing a world championship fight carries equal odds.A profit of 1.85% in the new year isn't a bad idea. I'm convinced Ngannuo will hammer fist him out in the third round, but that option isn't available.

Final UFC of the year and it was a good one, well for me as I managed to pull out a 155.99x odd betslip for UFC Fight night 199/Vegas 45 before the big draw for the UFC 270 starts a new for the first event of the New Year.

Well bloody done my friend! I've never once in my life hit anything over 100/1. There was this period on a book where I hit several but it was a competition with systems during one of the Wimbledons (if I can recall), so I probably chucked in over a 100 different combis on tennis, and of course with system, you tend to hit a few, but never anything like this.

UFC270; NGANNOU VS GANE-ONLY ONE CAN BE KING

This is more than a fight; it's a clash in which two unbeaten champions, formal training partners, and formal friends will enter the ring and compete for the title of KING. Ngannou is well-known and feared for his punching power and hammer fist KOs; nevertheless, compared to Gane, he has had a more harder road to where he is now. This, I believe, has been his motivation whenever he enters the ring; he fights not only to win, but also for the pride of his country and continent. I'm not a big fan of Gane, but his numbers are impressive for someone who only started fighting in 2019. He's quick and lands a lot of punches, and he's considered the favorite, but I believe Ngannou will knock him out in the third round.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZOI0bhnops

Gane Ciryl's numbers are ridiculously absurd, yet statistics do not always matter. I still believe in Ngannuo; it will not be easy, but he will be crowned King on January 22. He's the type of fighter who catches you off guard and knocks the wind out of you, which is why he's the world champion.

Probably wondering why such a small amount was put on it.
It was a freebet for reaching silver vip in clubhouse or I would of put more on it. I had just deposited 2.32mbtc right before making this acca for the UFC but put it on a parlay which was only off by one out of the three.

After that win by Pena to get the title from Nunes she had at first thought it was a rather rude statement to the crowd in Vegas.
But then after hearing it, was a saying Nate Diaz had said afterwards in a post match interview and it was befitting for the moment.
https://twitter.com/NateDiaz209/status/1470182247248523265

Monumental moment that nobody who wasn't a risk taker would of thought could happen.
Even after two days later still can not believe how that fight ended because if you watch it closely enough, Pena had the choke hold almost breaking her jaw.

Unbelievable end of the year UFC main event with the champion (odds were -1100! Shocked) getting dethroned of here bantamweight title.
Nobody had ever believed if you'd just said it, you would need to see it to believe it.

@buwaytress is right.
She just might lose her featherweight title next with others lining up wanting to take their shot at it now.
After a devastating loss with not just being submitted, which was being at odds of 16x right before the time of the fight, but in the R2 of a full 5 round match.
Most of the other matches were won by their underdogs according to the odds makers.
The other one being the Oliveira match where even though he was the champion going in, he had higher odds than his opponent Poirier.
It was definitely one to remember being the best of the year.

Damn rdbase man. The day we all decide Nunes doesn't know how to lose, she does.

To be fair, the 8/1 odds weren't THAT insurmountable either. I kind of wish I'd accepted an offer to put money into my MMA betting "account", cause I'd have put a tenner (knowing the way I throw my money away there).

Round 2 submission too, that must have been some kind of odds for a R2? Is she going to lose featherweight next?

Nunes is too beast to contend with for a win from Pena in this final main event of the year.
That is certain and can not be contested with.
No matter what!
Broken finger, collar bone or whatever Pena thinks she can do to her. Just look at Nunes in this video against Cyborg many moons ago:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dwGowpWSCdw
Have to wait until the 4:44 minute mark to see how she can take anything her opponent can put out.
It is like fighting a full on grown man vs a women to be honest.

Here is a good video to watch about the main fight contender against the champ:
With a good tune from ΣminΣm at the beginning.

It does, unless there it is a championship title fight on the line.
They try that much harder to try and keep that title in their possession.
So the over on round could be the play for you there.

I was going for the upset with Pena vs Nunes. But the better part of my brain went against it.
The bet for Nunes to win is just not worth it to bet on.
So the K.O might be the play for this match.
But a definitely under on rounds is a must if you plan on putting this one on your parlay for UFC 269.
I went all-in on Oliveira the champ to win this against Poirier.

I've only done one upset bet against Nunes, can't recall precisely which, but after that, read up a bit about her and her dominance, explained with science and experience. Can't beat her unless a freakish accident happens (and even then, think she went through a fight with a broken finger once and didn't say till the end).

Def not worth betting on, unless it's a tiny boost to a big parlay (which I might consider if I'm that crazy later this weekend).

Let's see if we can't get some entertainment from the highlight match anyway.

Last time I bet on a Poirier match I made a big boo boo out of it, not sure I'm going to dip my toes into this weekend, unless I see some offers I can't refuse heh heh.

And I'll be adding my picks to this one too. Might do it randomly this time and see if that gets me better luck than usual... it really feels like a coinflip in MMA doesn't it?

Chris Curtis beating Allen was the first surprise fight then two fights away was Guida beating Santos in the second round after taking a beating in the first. Santos was looking at the referee wondering when he was going to stop the fight since he was just landing fist after fist to the back of Guida's head. That was a strange one since he was exhausted by the time the next round began and got submitted. Something Guida hasn't done in over 10 years in his career.

I was shocked Clay Guida subbed Leonardo Santos.

Guida circled and passed guard to the wrong side when he was submitted via guillotine by Charles Oliveira in 2018 and Jim Miller in 2019.

Since then Clay Guida moved to train from jackson wink to team alpha male and it seems his grappling and striking skills have improved as a result.

Leonardo Santos being a former world champion in BJJ it is an impressive feat for Clay Guida to submit him.

....

When someone says they're a fighter. What comes to mind is not someone who complains all the time about everything. Julianna Pena has done nothing but complain for the past 2 years. It will be very nice for her to return to being a fighter full time, rather than someone who complains full time, while fighting only part time.

Didn't watch, but I always said the unsung hero of fight competitions (boxing, muay Thai and I guess by extension MMA) is the ref. I've seen too many times a passive ref allow a fighter to get unnecessarily injured, and a couple of times a really active ref possibly save career-threatening injury.

But it's always hard to blame the officials too when you deal with this guy, who, if you say hasn't submitted in 10+ years, would cause all kinds of outcries if ref intervened too early.

Aldo was a good fight and it was good to see him still have that fighting style he is known for.
Had a Kape fight not going distance, Curtis win but Aldo by KO was the only one not to hit on my betslip for the night.

Yeah, I'm the type of bettor that just puts money on to make the fights a little more entertaining. I usually do this for all sports. I usually have a big accumulator running with mixed sports, and just tick off the ones I got correct. There have been times where I've been so close to earning big money, but usually its the first couple of matches/fights that let me down, which takes the excitement out of it, as if it was the last few I would be on the edge of my seat anticipating it.

I rarely bet outside of football. Tennis is probably something I go to when I can't find football -- but yeah, there's a kind of excitement waiting on long accas spread out over a week or two, and hitting them one by one. It's when I do them all from a 1/2-day period where I usually lose the early legs.

UFC is still out of reach for me. If I bet, it's on an outright or single outcome. Definitely would bet more if it happened at better hours...

It's almost like an addiction come to think of it -- seeing an empty active bets list and scraping the bottom of fixtures list for something to bet on. Something that thankfully won't happen this month!

I have to say one really bad habit of mine lately is adding one live leg, betting on games I know little about from whatever's playing at the moment, trusting the bookies to be right with odds. Then when it loses, I double down on the other legs. Hasn't quite worked out this season.

However, I'll put my predictions out anyhow for the other event:

Jose Aldo
Brad Riddel (though this will probably be a coin toss on the night)
Alonzo Menifield
Brenden Allen
Manel Kape
Jake Matthews

Changing Jake Matthews. To short odds for me to place a bet on, and I quite like Well's chance here after reviewing some tapes, and also considering the fact that Jake is coming off of a loss, and Well's has a nice little win streak going on.

This is me and how I think. It's nice to win bets, and of course it doesn't matter how the game/match plays out if the outcome suits you when you count your winnings, but especially for fighting sports (which I used to bet on a lot in real life, muay Thai arenas in Bangkok evenings are pretty awesome) you're much happier when you lose but you got to see total warfare all night long.

@rdbase: save your money and sleep indeed. Though that applies to us and not you ha!
