How can someone get so much addicted on using Bitcoin that it is already in need to be put into rehabilitation? Maybe this was just an exaggeration on how they interpreted Bitcoin usage do happen. Maybe there could really be cases but still I cannot believe how a certain individual do get addicted by using Bitcoin. I wonder that maybe the addiction comes due to anxiety and improper management and control of him on how he uses his funds to be able to obtain Bitcoin and uses it on certain things like trading and gambling where those people who get addicted supposedly be doing. I get it that it could be possible to get addicted on gambling using Bitcoin but on trading, I don't think so.

Anyone can suffer addiction.  It's actually fairly common.  Whether it be serious things like alcohol, gambling, drugs, or even more mundane things.  Some people spend more time than would be considered healthy on social media, for example.  It can still be considered an addiction.  Most people just develop coping mechanisms so it doesn't have too much of a negative impact on their day-to-day lives.

Again, see my post here where I highlighted some trading behaviour that sounded incredibly unhealthy.  If you're not eating or cleaning because you're glued to a screen watching trades, that's not normal.
Addiction is common, but how one can state a person to be addicted of bitcoin. Just because a person following the minute to minute price fluctuation, he can't be termed to be addicted to bitcoin. The same is happening with the stock market, and does that can be mentioned as stock market addiction.

What I see with the UK hospital's rehabilitation program is a form of promotion for their Business. This way health industry too is making money in the name of bitcoin.

The problem this year has always been people have been required to remain in lock-down for extended periods of time, but no government has really put much thought into what people might do with themselves while sitting the year out.  Some are in a form of isolation without nearby friends or relatives and are turning to their phones/PC's and connecting online.  Others are turning to gambling which like any other vice can be moderated in real life, but in an online world with no moderation people can develop any number of addictions.

This makes no sense, and funny enough, it's the first time I hear about such rehab programs. I don't consider crypto an addiction at all, even though indeed it's exciting and thrilling. As for me, this is useless, and I don't know who will ever use such a service.
^ This is true and it makes sense to me. See the links below.
https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/scotland-hospital-opens-rehab-center-crypto-trading-addicts.

There are people that can't truly control their selves and turns to addiction. They need to rehab just to be a cure because mental illness is not just easy to cure. It takes time before it will be totally healed. W are thankful enough to these countries, they are concerned about their people.

I think that this is Bitcoin addiction thru gambling and trading.
Again, Bitcoin is being used again so people are getting addicted to it.

I don't know how is this possible though and what is the progress of this already?? It has been 2 years but still no update on it.
It could be the reason why they get addicted to Bitcoin — especially when used in gambling. But I still can't believe that there's such thing as that and that there are people experiencing such. Anyway, who am I to judge? Maybe some people really get too attached with it and causes them negative effects when not dealing with such. If that's the case, then they really need help.

For others, it's important to always keep the balance in everything we do in life. As what we say here in our country, anything you do overly is dangerous.

I think fiat is more of an addiction. How many people chase money? Bitcoin is a currency anyway so it is normal for people to be very drawn to it. Setting up a hospital seems really strange to me.
I still don't understand how you get addicted to a currency? Talking about it? Using it? What exactly us the addiction?

Dependence on bitcoin? What?)) Dependence may be on the ability to pay for services via bitcoin or on some things purchased only through bitcoin. Or from the darknet, where there are a lot of forbidden things - but definitely not from bitcoin itself. People don't have enough of it to depend on)

Oh, seems it's a little bit old news but cmon, is bitcoin trading really considered as addiction?

Quote
Cryptocurrency users can get hooked by the volatile fluctuation of prices online which creates a ‘high’ when they buy or trade a winning currency, Castle Craig said in a statement. “This can be exciting but also addictive and, like gambling addiction, can be financially disastrous.”
Well, by that logic we can call a lot of behaviors an addiction. Everything that affects dopamine and happiness hormones is addictive, that also includes sugar, emulsifiers and it's related products: Pizza, chips, chocolate. Also, for some people, they can become addicted to certain persons, someone gets addicted to money, etc but we can't call everything an addiction. We are addicted to air every second after all... Ok, joke.

Bodybuilding also turns into addiction for some people but I hugely doubt we should move them into rehab, same applies to any other sports.

When they decided to launch rehab program for bitcoin addiction, were there really a lot of cases when people were selling their houses, did they commit suicide because of unsuccessful bitcoin investment? Or what did give them a reason that it was so huge problem that it was necessary to call bitcoin trading an addiction and launch rehabs? Isn't fiat trading addictive? Cmon...

Let bitcoin and cryptocurrencies usage be an addiction, and I would like to have a question. Whenever someone gets addicted to something there is more and more suffering. In what manner the bitcoin addicted persons are getting affected. To overcome addiction is a must when the same leads to unsafe conditions. With cryptocurrency people were benefitting bigger than the loss when practiced in a safe manner.

I don't think there is any need for that. we all know that; Bitcoin is a platform where we can invest our money. we can compare it with share market. there is nothing to be addicted to. it is not like gambling. even we even we don't know what the relief of being addicted to bitcoin is.  so how do we know we are addicted? so I think that rehab programmed is totally useless. I personally know a lot of people who are invest on bitcoin. but it didn't see any single person who r addicted on it.

Bitcoin addictions are wide and varied there are trading addiction, gambling addition bounty addiction airdrop addiction but it's part of livelihood and entertainment but if you are it 20 hours a day there's really something wrong on it, then that is the time that you need to a doctor soon rehabilitation will follow.

Everything will be fine if you do it well and correctly, try to think of trading as work and there is a time limit for taking a break like an office worker and doing it casually without ambition and getting carried away in trading and have to control yourself.
and trading addiction must also be supported with balanced capital and if you have mediocre capital in my opinion it is impossible to become addicted and people will judge their own capacity, unless playing online gambling using Cryptocurrency is likely to be addicted.

if this is your livelihood that doesn't mean you have a mental issue, it's just your business that you have to take care.
Yeah I understand but I think you are missing some points. Of course you will not be considered an addict just because you treat trading as your job and do it routinely

so far i havent heard a working person that gets out of his mind  or becomes addictive to it  but its possible .

say if your job is enjoyable , you will feel excited all the time and you will forgot important things like taking a break  .  this is risky and bad as it breaks your self  . same thing happens on here in bitcoin because all jobs related here are enjoyable and we feel excited when we are about to get a btc  .

Yeah I understand but I think you are missing some points. Of course you will not be considered an addict just because you treat trading as your job and do it routinely, it is way more than that. Once you go compulsive, disoriented and agitated when not engaged with trading then that's the time we can say that you are now having a mental disorder. If you are not experiencing the signs mentioned then there's nothing to worry about. So chill and keep the balance in your life Cheesy.

Forget who dig this topic and why he did it, this is a nice catch. I don't know where I am when this thread created, honestly I'm not aware of this one until I found it Cheesy.

Anyway, like most of us here, I find it hilarious at first because who would have thought that all of us here can have a chance to get admitted in such place lol. But kidding aside, we must realized that excessive is not good all the time. Too much trading is not good for our health because our body will get used to it thus crave for it all the time (like the usual alcohols, drugs and other vices). If you will imagine, this can be a form of OCD wherein you feel the need to buy/sell crypto every minute of the day. And it will surely affects your appetite, social interaction and other responsibilities.

But I won't hold myself back, I still want to pursue my dream of becoming a daytrader. If I became a psycho in the end but rich in return then so be it jk Grin.

I'm also surprised to see this thread here existing but with the adoption on going and many people are added in the community I don't think any hospital can keep up, everyone could become addicted if he is a trader or he invested a big amount to Cryptocurrency, he will check almost every hour what's going on in the market and we have millions of that doing daily, if this is your livelihood that doesn't mean you have a mental issue, it's just your business that you have to take care.
