As ridiculous as it sounds, this kind of thing is actually possible, but my question is what approach are they going to use? Having a dedicated wing for bitcoin addicts is one thing, but having a treatment plan that is tailored with bitcoin addiction is another. I bet the doctors must have at least basic knowledge of bitcoin to properly diagnose their patients' condition. After all, they must be able to understand how someone can develop bitcoin dependence. Anyway, in my opinion, the most effective treatment would be to lose all of your coins. That experience is definitely a huge slap to the face.

I get that addiction can be caused by doing excessive different activities or something but I don't think it should be called bitcoin addiction since I just don't find it as something to be addicting, personally. It's more proper to call it trading addiction than "bitcoin" itself since if you are going to search, there's really trading addiction and it comes in any form, not just bitcoin.

It's good that they are opening such a program for others who suffer from this kind of problem but calling it bitcoin addiction is not really the right term for me.

but my take on this, should help other people with other detrimental addiction rather than this  so-called "bitcoin addiction". do you really think this program will help those traders to address their behaviour towards crypto? if you are into trading, you really need to check the market quite often. even us, regular crypto users, the first thing that we check when we wake up is the crypto market and just before we go to bed. but do we need therapy? i dont think so.

I definitely agree with you. Addiction does exist but not just really with Bitcoin trading in particular.
I think that intensive use of technology can really lead to some health problems but being a trader would require online presence.
But, if this cause is for addressing health problems, then overall it is good. But corrections must be done with the context.

Bitcoin addiction? What do they mean? It is unlikely that there is such a diagnosis and it is definitely not included in the international classification of diseases.

Hearing this for the first time like bitcoin addiction, also then there would be something like stock market addition also would exists. But this is nothing more than an opportunity to create a new field and get a good consultancy charges and the treatment charges form the users and make money out of nothing.

Aren't they working on a USB vaccination to cure this?

this thread was created in 2018 and from what I can see maybe they changed their mind (I think they must have taken the vaccine) because today everyone looks at bitcoin with good eyes except the gold fanatics. see that they currently wrote about bitcoin:

CORONAVIRUS TRACKED: HOW BITCOIN, GOLD AND OTHER ASSETS HAVE FARED DURING THE PANDEMIC

Bitcoin may have been created in response to the 2007/8 Financial Crisis, but its price volatility has made it a notoriously risky investment.

Its recent price gains have led some to suggest that bitcoin has moved from a speculative asset to a safe-haven asset, with some even describing it as “digital gold”.

can we consider that they have been vaccinated and are already well?  Grin

What a nonsense. Why is it about Bitcoin addiction while the reason is trading. At the same time, the very reason for the dependence has nothing to do with trading, and even more so with bitcoin on a straight line.
This is a very strange undertaking. But then what about people who trade altcoins or classic assets, it turns out that they are not dependent? Nonsense.

I haven't seen bitcoin to fall down drastically, or to make it's hodler lose their investment as if there's no hope for them to have it back. Bitcoin didn't made us suffer, but to have profits while holding it. If someone is addicted to trading bitcoin, there are two outcome, either he is earning allot, or losing his funds. If he is earning huge amount, then there's not reason to call him an addict (why would you call a rich person to be addicted while he is experiencing positive effect from what he is doing). On the other hand, if that person is losing, then Rehab is not the solution, thus, he needs a full tutorial on how to trade to avoid losses.

It's kind of weird that UK hospital needs to rehabilitate bitcoin users.

I don't think anyone is addicted to Bitcoin, because Bitcoin is not a drug or liquor that everyone is addicted to. Maybe you should do some re-research to create a rehabilitation program on Bitcoin, because I think Bitcoin is just digital money that makes it easy for everyone to make transactions using Bitcoin, but if people use Bitcoin just to play gambling or buy anything, I think that's normal, because everyone has their own way of doing anything to use Bitcoin.

What the hell? There are addicts in crypto? That is pretty crazy considering this might be an obsession that inhibits people to do other things other than Bitcoin. Maybe gambling is one thing but this is new for me.

Isn't the image show trading addiction?  It can happen on anything that is being traded.  I wonder why they capitalized only in Bitcoin when there are  several currency that had been traded and there are lots that experience the same interest and being hooked in getting profit. I agree to some reply that this is one of the action of those groups who wanted to either decredit Bitcoin or take advantage of the
Bitcoin craze and get attention or profit from it.

Isn't it much better to say a rehab for trading profit addiction in general?

I can only imagine the NHS has been scrambling to find things to pour their efforts into with the wave of Covid cases slowly declining in those countries.

It is possible that a small number of people are addicted to bitcoins and cryptocurrencies. The fundamentals of Bitcoin are clear, there is no indication that it leads to addiction.
Rather, Bitcoin provides you with solutions to the current problem banks have.

If you become addicted for this cause it is because you have already treated this pathology before.

In any case, if the problem of addiction to Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies were to transcend, it would be a health problem like any other.

This is one of the funniest article I will read on the web today. So if you hodl a bitcoin, you are automatically a gambler ?. This is bogus. People develop mental health problem sometime when they lose money but that doesn't make it unique to bitcoin. If you own a business and you invested a big amount of money but latter the business fold up and the owner develop mental problem, does that make fiat holding gambling

Maybe they're mistaken, bitcoin is just an asset on exchanges and can't say bitcoin makes them addicted. They may become addicted to trading and become unprofitable. They find a way to find their money back. This library is making bitcoin in public perception, we have to find a way to block this.

Bitcoin addiction?
If it's for a good purpose with good income on it. Then it's certainly a good addiction though. But it was quite confusing. How come one will end up being addicted to bitcoin? Like how? By buying and buying more bitcoin? Or by frequently watchinh charts and everything?

At first I though it was bitcoin gambling that is so addicting it makes more sense if it was. Or maybe they are implying about bitcoin trading which is kinda addicting too.

Sad to see that they are implying bitcoin investment is a form of gambling and will attract mainly those who are addicted to gambler. I mean, any kind of trading in the financial markets can cause addiction. Trading addiction isn't a new thing, but its funny how the media represents everything with their manipulated words.
But good thing, at least those negative publicity will attract more people!

This is really serious, then what is the medical or health implication of the addiction. All those game addict, frauds, scammers need more rehabilitation than thinking about bitcoin users. What makes us sit night and day with bitcoin is all about the commitment. And there is reward with bitcoin. Even in the rehabilitation center bitcoin users will still handle their phones
